    This place is awesome. Absolutely fantastic. Get everything but my favorites are the pork and veg potstickers, spring rolls and cucumbers in garlic sauce. We also had Dan Dan noodles, pork xlb, and pork dumplings w/chili oil & sesame sauce. But for real, get the spring rolls and potstickers. So flavorful and delicious. It's in a cute little spot, but parking is tough. I suggest you Uber or walk there.

    Everyone is right - these might be some of the best dumplings I've ever had! We added ourselves to the wait list and told them we'd prefer to wait for an indoor table since it was raining. We shared some tea to start and then ordered the crab and pork soup dumplings, spicy pork soup dumplings, pork pan fried dumplings, and string beans. I've never had pan fried dumplings similar to these. They are SO JUICY - beware!!!! Wow everything was so good.

    Dumpling Home is my go-to restaurant whenever someone is visiting from out of town. The food is consistently delicious! Wait times can get long, especially on the weekends, but well worth it! Pan fried pork baos (10/10) - the bao is thin, and the bottom is fried to crispy golden brown. The inside is filled with yummy soup. It's an explosion of flavor and different textures! Beef tongue (10/10) - tried this for the first time and it didn't disappoint. Braised beef tongue with special soy sauce on top. This dish is served cold. Green beans (9/10) Dan Dan noodles (9/10) Beef noodle soup (7.5/10) - clear broth beef noodle soup. The broth wasn't hot enough and the noodles expanded a little too much by the time I finished the bowl.

    The outdoor seating was nice (and super nice of them to provide blankets if you're cold). We ordered the zha jiang noodles, which was super colorful and nicely portioned. The mushroom + chicken dumplings were also good, but I wouldn't say they were spectacular (solid dipping sauce though). I liked the pork baos the most by far--they came out piping hot and were filled with pork juices, so be careful when biting in! Very tasty! I liked their chili sauce on the noodles so be sure to ask for it! Food was good, but I'm not sure if it justifies the typical (long) wait time. It seems on par with Dough Zone in the South Bay, but I definitely see the hype

    Long wait, but great casual fooding. A bit of a wait when we got there. Ended up being about 30 minutes. Was eventually seated and got to ordering. Ordered pork fried dumplings, pork xlb, and chicken boiled dumplings. The fried dumplings were out of this world - def would just order a bunch of these next time. The xlb was pretty good too but just doesn't hold up to the fried dumplings. The steamed dumplings were a bit of a miss. Would def come back and chow down on the fried dumplings.

    This was BOMB.com!!!! Pan-fried bao is a must order. Everything tasted amazing and definitely hit the spot. We went on a weekend so had to wait 45min. But once we were seated, everything was quick. The soybean noodles are also great as well!! Everything 10/10.

    Dropped in for lunch recently on a Sunday around noon and the place was packed with a healthy group of people on the waiting list before us which was a good sign for the food quality. The front desk quoted us 25 minutes but we were called after only about 15 minutes which was great. Our server was friendly and helped us select between a few options we had in mind. She checked on us frequently to ensure we had everything we needed. Everything we ordered was spectacular. The green beans, cow tongue and pork soup dumplings in particular stood out as our favorites. Will absolutely visit again soon.

    Great location in the middle of Hayes Valley and very clearly a popular dining spot. Waited around 30min for a table for 2 on a Friday evening, which was not too bad. Definitely at least a tad bit more expensive than a hole in the wall dumpling spot you might find in other parts of SF, but worth a try. I tried the zha jiang noodles, shiitake mushroom and chicken dumplings, and juicy pork bao. The noodles and dumplings were both pretty good, but the pork baos were hands down the star of the show. Sat outside which was a bit chilly but appreciated the hot chamomile tea we were served!

    Amazing food, went on a Friday during lunchtime and there was no wait. We walked here from my friends place so didn't pay attention how the parking was but it is street parking. We got the Dan dan noodle, pan fried pork bun and xiao long bao. Everything was incredible, flavor was so good and made well. The pan fried pork bun had so much juice inside and flavor was so good. The xiao long bao was also incredible, the skin was super thin and flavor was authentic. Not the cheapest meal, all together was $50 before tax and tip but I feel like that's normal nowadays. Would come back!

    We showed up on a busy Friday night and ended up waiting about 30 minutes--fair, considering they weren't taking reservations and the dining room was completely packed. Check‑in was simple: add your name to the tablet inside, then join the small crowd perched on stools outside. The wait actually added to the anticipation, and once we were seated outdoors, it felt worth it. The food was the highlight from the very first dish. The sake set the tone, clean and smooth, and everything that followed was a parade of bold flavors and great textures. The large beef soup was deeply comforting and rich without being heavy. The cold, thinly sliced pig ear and the cold tongue in a "thousand‑year‑old" sauce were both surprisingly delicate--chewy, savory, and full of character. The jellyfish salad was crisp and refreshing, a perfect contrast to the warm, silky eggplant that might be one of the most flavorful versions I've had anywhere. And then came the shu mai: easily among the best dim sum I've ever tasted. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and wrapped with care, it was the kind of dish that makes you pause mid‑conversation. Despite the wait and the outdoor seating, the food more than justified the experience. This is the kind of spot where you come for the flavors and leave already thinking about what you'll order next time. I see why it has two Michelin stars.

    This was our first stop on a dumpling crawl and one of the most recommended spots in Hayes Valley. Since we had our dog with us, we sat outdoors - easy seating and a comfortable setup. Service was friendly and quick. We ordered, ate, and wrapped up everything in about 20 minutes, which made it a great crawl-friendly stop. We tried the Boiled Shiitake Mushroom Dumplings here as well, along with the Veggie Dumplings (4 pieces). The 4-piece option is nice if you don't want to overeat, though it does feel a bit pricey for the portion. That said, the shiitake mushroom dumplings really stood out- flavorful and satisfying. Overall, a solid start to the crawl. Would definitely love to come back to try their soup dumplings next time.

    Cannot rave about the food enough, I would have eaten here every day of my trip if I could. We got the pork xiao long bao, pan fried pork xiao long bao, and the ginger green onion noodles and it was honestly the best noodles and dumplings I've ever had. Will be back if I'm ever in the area

The lava custard buns were fluffy and amazing, with a molten salted egg custard inside, and the sesame balls had a satisfyingly crispy exterior that gave way to a perfectly chewy interior and sweet red bean filling. The value here is also excellent. We left absolutely stuffed and spent around $30 per person, which felt like a great deal for how much food we got and how much we enjoyed it. Highly recommend!

She went through a spell of being terribly nauseaus and only certain foods could be kept down. She's a fan of dumplings so we found this place on door dash and tried it. The Wagyu XLB is one of the best things I've ever eaten. And no that's not hyperbole.Everything we had from this place was great but those specific dumplings were amazing. My wife also was a big fan. She had the vegetable dumplings and not only was able to keep it down with her nausea, but would also get it again and she is a picky eater. The worst thing we ate there is something I would descriebe as "good but I don't need it again." I won't name the item because it really wasn't bad at all, it was just outshined by everything else. I have since recommened thist o a few different doctors and nurses at her hospital and two have reported back to us that they loved it as well. In fact one nurse's wife now wants Dumpling Time at least once a week. When I die, if the Wagyu XLB is the last thing I eat, it would not be a wasted life.

    i was in san francisco for a one-day work trip, and once the day wrapped, we all went out to eat. i…read morewas genuinely excited to partake in dumplings because... it's san francisco. you kind of expect a moment. unfortunately, dumpling time was incredibly underwhelming. lots of bland. i understand not every meal is going to be a home run, but wow, this was aggressively average. eating on the company's dime makes it sting a little less (our ceo would absolutely hate to hear this happened, lol), but still. the shrimp toast was truly interesting and delicious. the clear standout in my mind. the wagyu truffle gyoza though... truffle who? flavor where? very much lacking, especially for something that sounds so promising. the tom kha soup dumplings were also shockingly bland, which was the most disappointing part for me. the ambiance itself was laid back, which i did appreciate. overall: sad. not terrible, just forgettable. which somehow feels worse when you're expecting something special in sf.

I walked into the restaurant about 45 minutes before closing time at 9:30 PM and several other diners came in after I was seated. The unsettled weather made the people hungry for dumplings. Bao is warm and woody and serene on the inside, a great counterpoint to the bustle of Valencia at every hour. Upon entering there is a large window looking on to the kitchen prep area where culinary experts are often at work constructing the food diners later enjoy on their plates. Tonight a couple of wizards were in the process of making chicken potstickers. Even being vegetarian, just seeing how the dumplings and other items are made is like seeing secrets being shared. I love it and it sets the vibe for the restaurant. My order consisted of the steamed vegetarian buns and sautéed string beans. The buns come out beautifully presented and taste even better: the bun itself is just slightly sweet and that sweetness adds an amazing dimension to the chopped fresh vegetables inside. Can't tell you what any of these veggies are individually and I don't care, they are so good. Next came the sautéed string beans and the sear on the beans themselves was perfect and smoky and delicious. The crispness of the sautee makes the string beans a lovely pairing with the soft yummy of the steamed buns. Last came the sesame balls as a sweet meal ending. I love donuts and fresh-made sesame balls are similar to a donut hole just with a filling that is actually food and so sweetly tasty. The outer fry was crisp and the insides absolutely perfect. Three dishes, all fantastic, and I walk home happy and thankful to Bao for a great simple meal!

Heads up that this is mostly a takeaway spot and they only have 1-2 small tables. The siu mai was fairly big and I liked that the order came with a bunch of sauces- chili oil, soy sauce, and a hot sauce. As a big sauce fan, I appreciated the selection! The baked bbq pork buns are sweet with a decent amount of filling. The deep fried dumpling is plump, juicy, and crunchy. The shrimp and chive dumplings are my favorite. It's full of shrimp with a slightly thicker skin, which I think adds a nice chewiness. The veggie egg rolls were okay. I personally wouldn't order those, even if I was craving them. The spare ribs had a really nice savory flavor from the sauce. The egg tarts were okay. I need to note that these bags are leftovers from the day, so they're not as fresh. But they held up the next day so I was able to stretch 2 meals out of them. I can't comment on service since these bags are only for pick up. But they quickly provide the bags once the window open. And it's a small space, with maybe 2 tables. So this place is probably best for to-go orders. Their 2g2g bags have more variety than their Chinatown location. Not sure how many dim sum options there are in the Mission, but I would go here if I was in the area and craving a shrimp and chive dumpling.
