Finally tried out this Divisadero institution and it did not disappoint! My friends and I all got the burger with fries ($20). I usually am very anti-ordering the same main, but it could not be helped. It sounded too good, and it was, indeed, a really good burger. The bun was soft and fluffy but didn't collapse under the pressure of being held, which is make-or-break for a burger. I don't want my buns to turn into frisbees. The patty was cooked through, still tender, and well-seasoned. Quite fatty, so just know that! The combo of the sauce, cheese, and onions was fantastic, but it did make for a more slippery experience. As a result, my hand was covered in sauce and juices by the end, but our waitress had wet hand wipes on deck, which was amazing. The fries were perfect, quintessential shoestring fries. We tried the Yuzu Custard, Peach & Basil Shortcake, and Rum Butter Cake for dessert, and all were solid!! It is a mission of mine (very casual mission) to find and promote restaurants that have solid desserts because it was hard to execute but also so necessary for Sweet Tooth Nation. My favorite was either of the cakes. They are honestly the same thing, just with different flavor combos. The custard actually pairs very well with the cakes. Had a disappointing experience with the staff at Horsefeather recently! Completely understand that this is a lively cocktail & dinner spot, but the table behind us was extremely loud and screaming to the point where we couldn't hear each other talk at all (like at ALL). We don't mind regular bar noisiness but this was next-level.   We asked the server if we could move or if they could ask the table to take it down a notch since we were seated inside. The presumed manager then came over and rather snippily informed us she can't just "ask a table to stop talking", which of course, was misrepresenting our request and framing it as something unreasonable. IMO if you aren't able to speak to guests with kindness & understanding, even if you're unable to accommodate a request, you should maybe rethink your role in hospitality.   We settled on moving outside, which was totally fine, and finished our meal there. We then come to realize the staff knew the loud table next to us. It definitely left us feeling that their personal friendships were prioritized over kindness and respect toward other guests. I went here around 8pm and had a great experience. The drinks are quite unique but also delicious! The inside is dim lighting and usually pretty lively with conversation. Horse feather is a solid 4 on my scale, like zero hesitation, the kinda friend you call when you need help moving or something. Solid through and through. I'd definitely be back again. I got the katsu sando and shared a BLT with my friend. Both sandwiches were hefty and well packed. I honestly think the BLT tasted better due to how healthy it felt, the katsu bleeds out some oil and juices but still provided a great flavour. What a quaint spot in Palo Alto. The decor looks thoughtful and modern, but homey. It has a beautiful bar area. The restaurant is in the Town and Country Village plaza so it's not too hard to find parking. It's in one of the corners of the plaza so it feels nicely tucked away. We decided to come for brunch on a Sunday and was seated right away. Their menu is small, but that means each option is unique. We got the BLT and the Soft Scramble. The BLT has their signature umami bacon, which is a candied bacon with an interesting seasoning that includes things like mushroom powder, seaweed powder, etc to give that "umami" flavor. The same side order wasn't on the San Francisco menu which forced me to try something new, & now their Shrimp Tacos are another one of my most-loved dishes. The thick homemade corn tortillas are the perfect vehicle for the plump shrimp, salsa verde, avocado, picked onions, & havarti; I was skeptical about cheese with seafood but it works here. My entree was phenomenal and the ambiance was very cute and plant-y. We were sitting under a heater so it did get hot on the patio very quickly. The host, who told us he was the general manager, was very rude to multiple guests. Maybe he was having a rough night, but I've never had service this poor in my entire life (not an exaggeration). Food was pretty good. We had the duck fat fries, burger, and two pieces of chicken. The burger was the standout. Our waiter was nice, and we didn't have problems with any other staff. We got there late on a Saturday night, it wasn't busy and sat right away. We were waited on by a young man. I didn't see any drink I knew and asked if they had anything like a margarita and was offered a Margarita I ordered the duck fat fries and the Two piece fried chicken that's boneless thighs, sriracha honey, corn esquites, with mac & cheese. The restaurant was quite busy on a Friday night, but my friends and I luckily made reservations beforehand. Even with us coming at our reservation time, we waited 15 minutes before being seated at our outside high chair table. For drinks, we ordered their Ghost Town IPA, which had a crisp taste, and their Jack of Roses cocktail, which was refreshing and not too sweet. Risotto alla Milanese: smaller portion size than I had hoped, but was rich and not too heavy. Chicken Sandwich: wish that there was a greater ratio of chicken to bun, the chicken was crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Prawn Tacos: fresh and flavorful! Spinach Miso Mushroom Linguine: great portion of spinach & ingredients compared to the linguine, and it was creamy but light. The service and ambiance was good! read more

Came here for dinner with a friend and we tried the fries, the Caesar salad, and the tuna tataki. I enjoyed all the dishes since they each were so unique. The tuna and the sauce and rice it's served with were super flavorful. The tuna was thicker than in a typical tataki but was good. The fries were addictive and I could not stop eating them. The salad was good but it was my least favorite of the three things. The wings looked good but we didn't have them - will try them if I come back here. The ambiance is kind of cool- casual. The service was fine - nothing stellar but also nothing to complain about. I would come back here to try some other things! read more

To begin with, the ambiance was nice and the lighting felt very welcoming and elegant. It wasn't too loud that conversations weren't able to be held but it was a good volume inside the restaurant. Everything on the menu looked insane and everything peaked my interest. I ended up getting the duck fat fries and the miso linguini with shrimp. The food absolute exceeded my expectations as I was scared and had low expectations; thinking that this was one of the restaurants where they had interesting dishes with unique ingredients only for the curiosity peaking factor and not for the food quality factor. However I was very pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. The duck fat fries were subtly flavorful with this unique savory and kind of creamy flavor I can't super describe well, they weren't too salty but just right with some ketchup. The miso linguini was absolutely amazing. I'm not typically a big fan of miso but this wasn't overtly salty but I loved how you could taste the hint of lemon and that made it so much better. The shrimp was the best part of it though, it was cooked just right so it wasn't overcooked and too stiff, it was so delicious, tender, and chewy. The service was also impeccable as even though we were there relatively late and closer to closing time, the server didn't treat us with a hint of resentment or any disdain. She was super kind, patient, and attentive to any of our accommodations. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this restaurant and I can see myself visiting it again whenever I find myself in the area. Overall, this is a really solid spot. I've come here a few times for cocktails (which are great) but this was the first time coming for dinner. My friend and I shared 2 apps and an entree and left full and satisfied. Fries- the fries side is a huge bowl and probably more than what's recommended for 1-2 people. That said we did finish the bowl with no regrets Wings- these were exceptional. The gochujang sauce was delicious and the wings were cooked well. Next time I'd ask for extra gochujang sauce for even more dunking Lemon Butter Prawns- the risotto had a bright lemony flavor. The prawns were a tad overcooked but tasty nonetheless. Came with 6 shrimp. Was a solid dish that was easy to share among a few people. Only negative is the water glasses are very small and when sitting at the bar, it's hard to get someone's attention to get more water. Would recommend personal water pitchers for each group. read more
