We came here on a Thursday around 9pm. We ordered 2 drinks and a ceviche appetizer, and it was $85, before tip. I guess that's SF for ya.. We ordered the Oaxaca, which did not explicitely say was more of a "shot" than a drink. We also ordered the guayaba which we liked. The guava tasted fresh and I liked that the rose petal flavor really came through with a flavorful floral addition. The ceviche was good, and the creaminess from the coconut rounded out the flavor well. The chips were also seasoned well with some spices. We mostly just came for the views and ambiance, which I will say was beautiful.
Last Sunday, I had one of the best summer nights in San Francisco! We came to Cavana for dinner, but we had no idea there was live salsa music and dancing happening on one of the patios. The vibe was incredible, a live salsa band, everyone dancing, people having a good time... we definitely came on the perfect night! The band played until around 8 PM, which worked out perfectly because our dinner reservation was at 8:15. After dancing and enjoying the music, we got to watch one of the most beautiful sunsets I've seen from this rooftop. Such a beautiful way to start the evening. And the food made the experience even better! The menu is mostly small bites, so we ordered several dishes to share. We started with the classic ceviche, which was fresh, citrusy, and so good with the chips. We also had the al pastor tacos with pineapple, flavorful and a classic combination that worked perfectly. But the arepitas... OMG! Definitely my favorite. They come with three little arepas filled with shredded beef, and they were SO good. Between all the dishes, it was actually plenty of food for two people, and we left very satisfied. For drinks, we tried the guava and passion fruit mocktails, and both were refreshing and had really nice flavor. I've been to Cavana before, and I already thought it was a great place to stop for drinks or food before a concert at Chase Center or a Giants game. But this Sunday experience made me love it even more. It's also such a nice spot for a date night or just hanging out with friends. I don't know what the rest of their weekly schedule looks like, but this particular Sunday was a 10/10, salsa, great food, rooftop views, and a beautiful San Francisco sunset.
Great vibes, yummy cocktails, and good views. We took adorable photos in their photo booth too, highly recommend! The servers weren't the nicest, but they let us switch seats like twice, lol, before the night rush came in. They're a little bitchy about reservations, but we were able to finagle our way into a good spot for the night. Guess this place is a little old now, but I'd say it's the spot. I heard from a few friends (locals) who really like this place for catching up/business meetings, and dates.
Favorite bar in San Francisco. Vibes are always great here, drink amazing and the views is always stunning. Been coming here for some months now, I never get tired of this place

Good drinks and snacks, seating is limited so might need to wait a while or opt for the outdoor standing section on weekend nights. Firepit couches are nice if you are able to grab one! Would be a good stop to kick off the night but not really close to a lot of other great cocktail bars in walking distance since this area is kind of dead except for Giants game days.
This review comes a little late for Cavaña. Decided to stop by there for a few drinks after Carnaval and they had some Brazilian specials happening so it was great. Of course I had to try the octopus dish which was nothing to salivate about. It was soft in the middle but the texture of the skin was a but too gummy for my taste. The sauce and yucca accompaniment did assist the dish. The steak dish however was very well done. The steak was cooked just right. The sauce that came with the meat patties was also a hit. I did dip the octopus into the sauce for some extra flavor. The meat patties themselves were good with the sauce. The cheese balls were a bit underwhelming, but dipped into the sauce that came with the meat patties, they were delicious. The drinks though... ABSOLUTELY DIVINE. I never had a green michelada before and their drink has me rewiring my brain to taste all micheladas their way going forward. It was light and so perfect with the black salt. The spicy kick was definitely there as well. The pisco sours were on point. Perfect to have while looking out to the bay. The Naked & Famous was a unique flavor as well. The cocktails were very delightful to have and definitely stimulated my taste buds. The service was great at first, but then the bar was packed with Giants fans and the service did slow down a bit, but not terrible. We still managed to get 3 drinks each even with the slower service and the hostess was great at accommodating our request to be outside even with so many reservations. I thought that was a super plus. The inside of the bar is nice as well. When there aren't fans from baseball or basketball games there, this bar would be a nice place to chill out at. They also have salsa dancing on Sundays usually, but on the day we went, they played Samba for Carnaval. Will definitely go back. Perfect spot to impress a date.
Been wanting to check out this rooftop bar. This place is so cute. Located at the luma hotel. There's a separate elevator you can take downstairs. They have bite size food and drinks. You can walk in or make reservations. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Love the ambiance. The drinks are cute and good. But it's not strong at all. There's a photobooth which is cool. Parking is really hard to find. Unless you're willing to walk a few blocks. This bar is close to the stadium so lots of people pregame here before baseball games.
A delicious restaurant with stunning views, great food, and excellent service. I loved the salsa and the Baja Tacos. We had the pina colada and the paloma - not your typical resort drinks, they were so tasty and classic. I honestly would go back just for their salsa!
Listen the view and the drinks really can't be beat. There's a reason they charge a premium for those excellent cocktails. The food is good but you really come here because it's a great place to hang out and enjoy the view. The service is good too but they could use more servers to help with the backup on popular nights
This place is amazing and so beautiful. You really can't go wrong with any of the drinks. I got the kiwi and mango drinks, and the shrimp tostada and the ceviche. Everything was 10/10 delicious! Very flavorful and fresh, and it gets fun after 9pm when the DJ arrives and there's a dance floor.
I came with a group of friends on a weekend night for a casual start to the evening. We had booked a time a few days in advance, given that we'd come during busier hours. Once most of our party was here, we got seated at an outside seating area that was marked as reserved. The atmosphere and decor struck a great balance between welcoming and elegant. The space had earthy tones, flattering lighting, and various layouts of seating layouts. The bar itself was beautifully displayed. We ordered various drinks and some small bites. Yuka fries, ceviche clasico, carne asana tacos, al pastor tacos. The chips were solidly crisp, crunchy, and paired very well with the ceviche. The carne asana tacos with the salsa macha was juicy and perfectly done, and my favorite small bite of the night.. The Yuka fries were perfectly salted and the aioli dip was exactly what you'd want out of fries. My friends recommended the Kiwi and I found it refreshing, almost like a drink you'd have at a spa or so. I also tried the Oaxacan, which was styled like an old fashioned. I thought it was fair, but if I were to pick a favorite out of the two, the Kiwi would be my choice. Even with a busy crowd, the service was attentive and checked on us every so often. Overall, Cavana was a memorable rooftop experience that I enjoyed. I'll definitely return and recommend it to anyone looking for a rooftop bar with great small bites!
Great views! The place is nice, although it does have a bit of a cookie-cutter feel and not a ton of character. Food and drinks are pretty pricey - $25 for a Caesar salad, $15 for a non-alcoholic piña colada, and $15 for a Paloma.
Greatest place I've been with the most amazing view. I haven't EVER had a single complaint about the food. It's always out of this world. Their ceviche was so good I drank the marinade after. The drinks were very well crafted. Their guacamole was made from the best picked avocados and you could tell. My partner usually doesn't like guac and I was fighting him for the first time for it. I remember eating the steak right before I was about to give birth (baby came two days later) and I almost cried from how good the chimichurri was. I honestly believe someone who passionately believes in flavor worked there from then to now. They had the best virgin drinks then as well. I will forever want to come back here any day and any time. The service is always so speedy and the waiters are always friendly. I love you guys!

Wanted to experience downtown San Francisco properly and according to the locals we stumbled onto the right spot. Always a good sign when the people who actually live there co-sign your choice. Cavaña Rooftop delivers on the views beautiful, sweeping and everything you want from a San Francisco rooftop experience. The service was great and the energy in the room was lively and social, exactly what a rooftop bar should feel like on a good night. Full transparency the crowd skewed noticeably younger than us. But good music and great views are universal and we held our own just fine. The one thing Cavaña needs to address is the heating situation. Yes there are heaters outside but San Francisco does not play with that cold and minimal heating on a rooftop is a real limitation. Bundle up or claim a spot close to a heater early consider this your warning. We kept it simple with drinks, took in the views and let the music do the rest. Sometimes that's the perfect San Francisco night and this delivered exactly that. The city showed up and showed out. read more

I came here about a week ago and I absolutely loved the food, especially the Al Pastor tacos. The view was beautiful, however the service could have been better. I felt a bit ignored throughout the experience and the waitress seemed like she wasn't too fond on checking in on me but was chipper with everyone else. There was ONE amazing Hispanic server who was lovely, though! Loved him! Overall, the food was great but service leaves much to be desired. read more
Went here on a Tuesday night with a reservation, which probably was not necessary, but it definitely helped us get a table! We were looking for a rooftop view and a chill spot to catch up, and this was perfect. I got the Paloma while my friend ordered the Naked & Famous. Both were really good and not overly sweet. We also got the guac to snack on while chatting. The vibes are great, and it seems like a popular spot for people heading here after Chase Center events or Giants games because it got pretty busy around 10pm.. on a Tuesday It is a bit pricey, but I'd say it's only worth it if you're just going out for one drink and want the rooftop view and the vibes. read more

Cavana, in my opinion, is one of the best rooftop spots in SF. Located on top of the LUMA Hotel, you get stunning views of the East Bay, the Bay Bridge, and even Oracle Park. Yes, rooftop bars in the city are pricey, but you're not just paying for the view here! The vibes, drinks, and food are all on point. I also love that they have fire pits for those chilly nights (which is... most nights, honestly). For food, I've tried the guacamole and the quesabirria tacos. Both were great, but the braised beef birria with that consommé was especially amazing. They even do a Christmas-themed menu during the holidays, which is such a fun touch. Love this spot! I've taken a few friends visiting from out of town & they loved the views. read more

Nochebuena Xmas pop is divine ! My friends and I go every year and it never disappoints. The drinks are great; try the egg nog one, it's so good! The food is tasty. We always get chips to snack on, and this time we shared a bread pudding. Their service is always great, our servers name was Mica and she was an absolute delight. These Christmas vibes are festive and fun- it's super well decorated. Highly recommend ! read more

Good: - The food was delicious - I liked the quesabirria tacos the most and it was the perfect portion size for me - The chips and guac were great to munch on while we had drinks - I liked the watermelon drink the most, then the mango frozen drink was pretty good too - The place is beautiful inside, very upscale modern - Super fast service! Bad: - The place is pretty expensive if you get 1 appetizer and a few drinks - We got kicked out after being here for two hours so it was definitely a busy place - The place is super busy and loud Overall this was a fancy bar and good place to catch up with a friend! read more

Food and location is amazing. But Jasmine at the hostess desk could not have made us feel less welcome. We asked questions and felt like we were inconveniencing her. In spite of the hostess, we had a lovely meal in a great setting. Seriously though, Jasmine could use a role that doesn't involve interacting with clientele. read more
I visited for a GNO last night. Reservations were available 2 weeks in advance so we were able to reserve outdoor seating with the fire pit. It's a large, beautiful rooftop lounge & restaurant on the top of the Luma Hotel. We shared the guacamole, fried chicken yucca fries & ceviche. All items were good but I probably liked the yucca fries & chicken the most. I ordered the fish tacos as an entree & it was a good sized order, almost unable to finish it because of eating the shared appetizers. We shared the vanilla custard for dessert, which was the perfect end to our meal. I had a mango frozen cocktail which was pretty good. The outside terrace is pretty with heaters above & fire pits on one of the outdoor seating areas. The other terrace has heaters & tables but no fire pits. read more

Was excited to try this rooftop and really liked the drink menu options! I had the opportunity to try lots of fruity drink and liked most of them! They do go heavy on the ice with some of the drinks but they all came out in different glasses, different sizes, and different flavors. It was fun tasting them all. My favorite was the watermelon and guava. I would definitely come back for the drinks. I didn't enjoy the food, and here's where it went wrong. We first got our chips and salsa. The chips are seasoned like Doritos so there's a nice flavor but the seasoning is in consistent. Some pieces were SO salty and some had no seasoning. The salsa is pretty rich as well. When our ceviche came, I ate a bite without the seafood and it tasted fishy. When I tried the actual seafood part, I knew it went bad because it had such a strong odor. We had to send it back but saw them serving it to other people. I eat a lot of seafood and I don't mind a slight fishy taste but this was definitely a food poisoning situation. After that it took a very very long time to get our last dish. Unfortunately when it finally came out, it was a disappointment. The octopus texture tasted like it had freezer burn, then was over cooked, sat too long after it was cooked because they had to make the fries. The fries were fresh but the octopus was dry, cold, hard, and chewy. I've had lots of pulpo before and this was a let down. It was a bummer that we didn't get to eat much and decided to walk somewhere else to finish dinner. read more
One of the best rooftop bars in SF!! Great service all-around and great vibes! The bar is aesthetically pleasing. The bar also gives you a great view of the skyline! The food and drinks do add up, especially with a large group, but it's worth it! P.S They do take Resy! read more

We came here on a Monday night for happy hour before an event and our server was Bailey! He was very kind and attentive, asked us if we wanted blankets since it was windy. The food was superb, we had the patatas with chorizo/ chips and Guac. Great bites to pregame with. For drinks we tried the guayaba, kiwi, and pisco punch. All delicious and Bailey told us they were the most popular drinks so definitely try them out. We will 100% be back to try more of the menu! read more

Came here with a group of four after a Giants Friday night game and we were let up pretty quickly; there wasn't a huge line around 10pm. There is a really cool view of the baseball field and plenty of space for people to stand or sit and talk. I tried their piña colada and it was very good. My partner and friends ordered some food (quesabirria and oysters) and lovedddd it. They have a good selection of cocktails and food on their menu and everything came out relatively quickly considering how busy they were. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. One of the workers saw my friend and I were struggling to bring over our food and drinks to where our partners were, so he jumped in and helped carry some of our items to our area. Would definitely come here again. read more

Drinks were very weak. Lots of potatoes with everything. Nothing to rave about. Date of Visit: 9/26/2025 We visited Cavaña located at the 17th floor of the Luma Hotel in Mission Bay. This is about a block and across the canal from Oracle park and was great for watching baseball games. Cavaña is an ode to Central and South America. It mixed with flavors, culture and heritage foods and drinks from Latin America. The name Cavaña comes from two of Latin America's most iconic spirits: Agave + Caña = Cavaña. Mixing the complexity of mezcal and tequila to rum and cachaça, Cavaña brings the flavor of Latin America to the urban San Francisco. Guayaba $19 Husband ordered this cocktail mixed with Real Del Valle tequila reposado, guava, rose petals, vanilla, mommenpop aperitif, and lime. Served in crushed ice and the smell of rose petals was phenomenal. Sandia $19 I ordered the Sandia with the lost explorer tequila blanco, Mexican cucumber gin, aloe, watermelon, hibiscus gum, lime, and serrano. The spice was stronger than the other drink, with a hint of freshness from the fresh watermelon. Yuca Fries $12 We ordered the fries made from Cassava root, and on the side with rocoto aioli. Baja Fish Tacos $22 We got the fish tacos with Negra modelo battered cod, cabbage, cilantro, onions, and aji panaca. Three pieces per order which was a good portion for 2 adults. Oxacan $19 We also got the old fashioned style cocktail as the second round. Made with Arette tequila reposado, mal bien mezcal espadin, ancho demerara, mole bitters, and flamed orange. read more

After having this place on my list for months, I finally decided to take advantage of the rare hot San Francisco day and check out Cavaña. We went on a Thursday evening right before sunset. We were sat quickly and appreciated the view of the bay from our table. Our server came by to take our drink and food order. We ordered cocktails and 3 plates. Our oysters and first round of drinks arrived. However, it took over 40 minutes for us to receive the rest of our order... When we finally got the rest of our food, we ordered a couple more cocktails. The oysters were good, but small. The al pastor tacos were delicious. But the steak was gross. It tasted gamey/not fresh and didn't have enough chimichurri sauce to hide the off-putting flavor. Such a disappointment after waiting so long. The only saving grace were our cocktails. We were especially impressed with the Banano and Kiwi. Would probably only ever come here for drinks before/after a game. Otherwise, save your money. read more

Came on a Monday night with a party of 3. Got seated right away outside by the fireplace during sunset hours (so beautiful!). Our server, Bailey, gave us the best service, explained our drinks and foods. The drinks we got (pisco punch, guayaba, kiwi) were all amazing, and would get again next time we come back!!! read more
TLDR: This is an amazing spot for any occasion with a beautiful rooftop view. While the food and drinks were delicious, it felt like people were really there more for the views and ambiance. There is an expensive valet or difficult to find street parking. If you're trying to impress and have some good vibes regardless of price, this is the spot to do it. Food/drinks: 4.5/5 Honestly everything we had was really solid. They are mostly snack bites rather than full meals, but I'd say if you have an average sized appetite you could get away with eating their dishes. Be aware that their menu changes quite frequently, so some of the items in the images you see here may not actually be there. There is also only one page of food, so it's mostly a bar/cocktail scene. The food and drinks came out pretty fast, which was nice. For the portion, the prices are pretty up there, but it's expected from a nice rooftop bar in SF. - papas sucias - salsa mocajete - carnitas tacos - steak and potatoes - complementary bday dessert So sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the drinks that were ordered! But, everyone loved the cocktails in the menu and you can order the typical drinks at the bar as well! Space/Staff: 4/5 The views were phenomenal and the main reason people were there. The space is well used and every seat was filled at almost every hour of the night. Highly recommend grabbing a reservation! We sat outside on a not so windy day, so it was really nice to sit by the fire outside. The staff was very attentive and friendly. After we were finishing up the last of our drinks, we did feel rushed to get out. And once we paid and were waiting for our friends to come back from the bathroom, we were asked to get up and wait inside so they could prepare the table for the next set of guests. I like the vibe at this restaurant specially for the music. I attempted to order drinks last night but was told they were out of stock of different things that I wanted at 7pm. I ended up getting the passion fruit margarita which was good but not worth $18. It's also incredibly loud inside and you can't hear the people at your own table without yelling. The service was also very slow at times, no one to check in to our table when I wanted to order food. read more
