One of my favorite cocktail spots in the city! It can be tough to get a table or a spot at the bar, but the staff has always been incredibly helpful and accommodating whenever possible. The cocktails are some of the best I've had--creative, well-balanced, and consistently excellent. While it's definitely on the pricier side, I think the quality of the drinks, service, and overall experience make it worth it. If you're a cocktail lover, this place is a must-visit. read more

We stopped by this cocktail bar. First, you might never even see it if you walk right by. There's no signs and its like a cool hidden kind of place. The bar itself was packed. It had a very up-scale feel to it. We probably weren't necessarily dressed for that or expecting it. But we each had a drink and went about our way. The drinks themselves were hit and miss. I was shocked at home bad my friend's Manhattan was. I had an old fashion and it was fine. Another friend had a decent martini, etc. Anyway... what we saw was some "preppy" crowd. There definitely was some talent present too. All more night-club vibes. So anyway, good place to explore and something to consider for a future visit. read more

The vibe of left door is really nice inside. There's sit down tables and also a bar area. The service is really good here. I wish the vegetarian options for food were better. I tried the mushroom pate and did not like it. The flavor and consistency was not great. The charcuterie cheeses were good but the bread did not go with it very well. The tempura was done well but I think the vegetables they use for it should be different. The drinks are pretty good and unique. Best to make a reservation as it can get crowded. read more

Love this speakeasy! What looks as an unsuspecting left door of an apartment complex turns into a groovy lounge full of beautiful art. The cocktails are delicious, and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. I especially like their margaritas. The food is more on the small bites/shareables side, but the presentation is lovely. Appreciate the attentive staff, great drinks in a cozy living room setting with dim lighting as speakeasies are. It's Halloween so the decor is cobwebs. Came for an event and we tried the wine, Gin and Tonic, bourbon old fashioned and I asked for a mezcal drink without grapefruit (contained pineapple which was refreshing) and it was balanced well. Drinks served in nice drink appropriate glasses that made it fancy :) Food-wise we enjoyed the tuna tartare, steak sandwich, and their lobster and cheese sandwich/ tomato soup bites. read more

Vintage Victorian mixed with luxury decor. Absolute vibe here 5/5! Came here with my friend for cocktail and yapping. My friend was going crazy for their dirty martini. 4/5 The drinks and food were so stunning, however the samplers weren't so great: the chips and nuts tasted stale and the olives taste like a wet dirty mop 1/5. Def recommend the mushroom pates- 5/5 Service was very good. Since it's an intimate setting we felt well taken care of. They have a private, secret room for larger parties that I think be great to bring the gang or colleagues. read more

Fun, sexy, and inviting! We got lucky getting in without a reservation even though the place was packed. The vibe is amazing -- beautiful décor. It is "hidden" off of Union street and has a secret feel that makes it even cooler. The service was fantastic -- friendly, attentive, and the team really knows their cocktails. We tried several drinks, and the espresso martini was a standout -- perfectly made. We splurged on the caviar bump, which was such a fun touch and made the experience feel extra special. recommend! Parking is basically nonexistent, so I'd definitely recommend taking an Uber or Lyft. Totally worth it -- if you're into amazing cocktails, a stylish atmosphere, and a little something unique, Left Door should be at the top of your list. Cant wait to go back! read more

Best cocktail spot on the north side of SF. This area needed a real deal speakeasy, and thank goodness for the Left Door. Special thanks to Tiffany, Cricket, and Ken for turning a simple afternoon into a time of cinematic extraordinaire. Cheers read more

My girls and I came here for the great vibes on a night out. The list of cocktails is limited, and I would definitely recommend making a reservation as we arrived at around 10PM on a Saturday night and it was already packed full. We ordered: + Ride the 45 [6/5] (would really recommend) + Mez Negroni [5/5] For the Ride the 45 [6/5]: You need to try this!!! There are just 3 cocktails in the city that I would go back to order again, and this is one of them. We were all so surprised by the savory mouthfeel of this cocktail. It tastes exactly like Tom Yum, but sweet and cold! For the Mez Negroni [5/5]: Presentation of this cocktail is truly beautiful. The taste of bitter vermouth is strong in this one! Our table space was quite cramped, with three small tables meant for two each being packed with 3-4 people. Service was friendly but they had ran out of the drinks we initially wanted to try! I would only come back on a less busy night. read more

Left Door has a super cool speakeasy vibe. They probably have one of the best and strongest dirty martinis in SF. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time to avoid waiting in line. The noise level is on the louder side, I would not recommend this spot for a first date; it's pretty challenging to hear inside. More suitable for hanging out with friends. Service is friendly. read more

Come here for the live jazz on Sunday nights from 6:00 to 9:00 PM! It's a great time to listen to music with friends and enjoy a cocktail before the start of the week. There is an extensive cocktail menu and small bites. The cocktails have a lot interesting ingredients. There are also alcohol free drinks available. Its setup is speakeasy style. It may be hard to find the entrance it's located just above the bus stop bar. If the door is open you can walk right in or you'll have to ring the doorbell. A lot of care was clearly put into the interior design. You can sit in the lounge space or over at the bar. It is recommended to make a reservation ahead of time to secure a spot. They do have a fee if you no show for your reservation. read more

I've lived in the Marina for a little over two years and Left Door used to be one of my favorite cocktail bars. About a year ago they changed their cocktail menu and I thought it was temporary, since they removed all their specialty and exceptional cocktails and replaced the menu with basic bar drinks. I went back last night and their degraded cocktail menu is now the standard menu. It's so sad, the bar feels so significantly downgraded from what it used to be. It's pretty unlikely I'd go back or recommend to a friend, there's much better cocktails bars within walking distance. read more

Super cute! Great spot for a special occasion, we went for my friends bday and ordered caviar, champs and tinis. Super fun and vibey!

Such a fun little "hidden" bar in the Marina. May not always be the easiest to get a seat without reservations, but we've walked in and been able to get a spot at the bar / standing spot. Love the drinks here (especially the milk punch). definitely feels more like a bar that belongs in NY vs SF, will def be back! read more

The Steak Frites bites and drinks were good. My first time here! The lounge is beautiful! Didn't know what to expect. Came solo to listen to some jazz. The crowd was LIVELY. A little competition with the music and chatter. I was told this was rare. Will definitely be coming back!! read more

Super Swanky hidden Bar on Union. Door is stunning. Lots of funeral places to sit and sip. Loved the atmosphere so much. Ordered a margarita which was so tasty and artfully presented. My sidekick had a bar menu Manhattan which he said was delicious. Enjoyed chatting with the bartender and sharing a drink in this great location! I'm years past my club/lounge days, but caught up with a buddy who knew of this Marina spot. It blew my expectations out of the water! It reminded me of a mid-late 2000's dark, cozy lounge with the DJ spinning soulful dance tunes in front of a small dancefloor surrounded by stylish furniture. I knew the night would turn out right when the fun bartender Seiara danced up to us to take our order. From there, it just kept getting better mingling among the sociable crowd. Also grooved with a tall head-turner on the dancefloor *wink* read more

I recommend making a reservation before you go. The bar is on the smaller side and has an intimate vibe that makes it feel like you're in someone's living room. Intimate space with ideal SF decor. Cocktails are spot on the food was ok. Ideal for after dinner drink.

My friends and I booked Sunday brunch here about a month in advance, back when it was still promoted online with sample menus. We were all traveling from across the Bay Area -- some over an hour away -- for this long-planned get-together. The morning of our reservation (September 2025), a friend noticed the restaurant had removed all Sunday brunch menus from its website. Concerned (especially since one of us has celiac disease), I emailed to confirm. Only 30 minutes before our reservation, as we were already en route, I got a call saying brunch was canceled because "equipment wasn't working." They claimed it broke the night before during a private party, yet somehow only realized they couldn't open that morning. Their "apology"? That they would --of course-- cancel our reservation so we wouldn't be charged a no-show fee. No warning, no help finding alternatives, and barely any remorse. For a group that planned ahead and traveled far, this was a deeply disappointing and unprofessional experience. read more

Upstairs from Bus Stop, Left Door offers a speakeasy experience that evokes an old-world sophistication reminiscent of historic San Francisco, distinctly different from the rowdy atmosphere downstairs. music plays in the background and it's not super loud, which adds to the intimate and relaxed vibe. If you're looking for a classy environment to sip on craft cocktails, this place is for you. Service here stands out. We came with a big group after dinner in the neighborhood, and although we didn't have a reservation, the hostess went above and beyond to find us seating. She called those who had booked to check if anyone would be late and moved chairs and couches around to accommodate us. The bartender, with a bubbly personality, took the time to explain the menu in detail, even sharing how the ice is made, which really exemplified the passion and attention to detail in his craft. I thoroughly enjoyed the cocktails and the ambiance here. Prices are standard for SF, but I think it's worth it. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and despite the "older" look and feel of the decor, the crowd is generally on the younger side, probably due to its Marina location (and being above Bus Stop). read more

This is a best kept secret hiding in plain sight, on the left. (Spoiler alert: it's not the right door...) It's essentially a comfortable, upscale, speakeasy-style bar and lounge with a good variety of small bites to full meals to compliment their extensive drinks menu. The cocktails were exceptional and the sliders and charcuterie were honestly enough for two without needing much more. Service was excellent from seating is a little earlier than our reservation to recommendations and timing courses and drinks beautifully. read more

Love this place. Great food and cocktails. Much needed upper scale but fun vibe in the Marina.

love this place. but there is a really angry, agro.. bar tender. She's almost taunting, tells you stories calling customers assholes but playing it off like it's a joke, wont' stop engaging when you're just trying to have your drink. Keeps calling it "her bar" as if she owns it.. just bizarre and aggressive to the point that you almost want to leave. stress is understandable, it's a hard job, but something is off there... the behavior is off-putting enough that it's worth writing a review. read more

I came here randomly after dinner with some friends and this might be the hottest new bar to hit the Marina. It feels like a members-only speakeasy because there are no signs out front. There's a bouncer in front of an unmarked door who lets you up the stairs after checking your ID. It's right above Bus Stop (same owners) When we finally came to the top of the steps, I was just in awe. It felt like one of those NYE members-only clubs because it was a small, cozy space, there was a live DJ, and the decor was giving sophisticated, stylish, old money vibes. Plus the food and drinks were expensive, which is appropriate for how cool of a space you're at. We ordered a bunch of drinks, and these are definitely more spirit-forward. I prefer a more sweet drink (I got The Bamboo with pandan tincture because the Filipino in me couldn't resist a good Pandan flavor), so next time I might go for a different drink. They apparently also have food here! They have high-end options like caviar and aged a5 wagyu bites, but also classic ones like a charcuterie board. We came from dinner, so we didn't order food, but next time I'd love to! Definitely make a reservation because we walked in and had to hover around until a lounge spot cleared up that wasn't reserved. It does get loud too, but as the night winds down it becomes pretty chill. You gotta check it out! read more

Swanky & sophisticated lounge located above The Bus Stop bar. The entrance isn't marked & only identifiable by its address (house number). This appears to be a flat that was converted into a beautiful & stylish lounge. Seating areas feature low tables (coffee table height). Since the menu features a unique cocktail menu & small bites, the low tables were adequate. I perused the menu & the ingredients in the Milk Punch cocktail sounded really interesting. My friend had the Mez Negroni. Both cocktails were balanced & delicious. For our second order, I repeated the Milk Punch cocktail (because I really enjoyed the first one) & my friend ordered The Marg. We shared the lobster crudo which had a spicy kick from the Szechuan chili oil & the seasonal ceviche that was accompanied by crispy purple barley, which added a nice texture. Our server was very friendly & helpful. I would recommend reservations as. This place was pretty busy & the space isn't very big. read more

PROS: The interior was beautiful. On Sundays they have live jazz, which was enjoyable. The cocktails are good. CONS: When we were came there was literally one person working as host and waiter for all the guests. This meant that it took about 9 minutes before she acknowledged us and sat us down to a table, even though there was no one ahead of us, and another half hour before we got our drink. It was not her fault; she was trying her best, but she was set up for failure with the understaffing. The other issue is that their Sunday food menu is very limited, but it's not reflected on their website. We came thinking we would order food, but with the slow service and limited food options we had our one drinks and left to get dinner elsewhere. read more

We had a bit of a hard time finding this place--lol--but it's right next to Bus Stop and marked by a red door. Once you're in, it's a super fun speakeasy with swanky vibes and great atmosphere. My husband I and popped in one night and had such a wonderful time. We had Elliot at the bar help us with our delicious drinks. He chatted us up and it's one of our fav spots now.
