I came on a Thursday at around 6pm & it was just starting to get crowded. It's real cute inside, dim light. It's perfect for date night or place to hang out with friends. The drinks were so good & so pretty. The espresso martini was also super yum! The service was A1, will definitely be back.

We decided to check out this speakeasy after going to another one right before. This spot if more like a lounge. You go downstairs and it's quite spacious. There was a live band and enough space for dancing. We ordered at the bar and found seating to watch the band play. I got a mocktail and my friend opted for an alcoholic drink. Vibes was fun!

Old Fashioned, Cynthia's Pearls

I stopped by Local Edition on a weekday night with a friend and enjoyed a couple of drinks while we listened to live jazz music. Both drinks were solid but gave different vibes. Cynthia's Pearls, which was a spirit-based drink, was bright and tropical without being overly sweet. The pineapple and lime kept it crisp and refreshing. This was my more preferred drink out of the two that I tried. My friend requested their old fashioned drink, and while it was not my favorite, it was classic and well-executed. It was strong and not harsh, and my friend said it was perfect for a traditional taste. The best part of the night was the live music, which made for a great atmosphere for catching up with friends or just sitting in silence to fully take in the experience.

Lovely bar with many nights of live music! Went with a large-ish group (7) and it's very convenient that you can reserve tables online without a fee. Service was quick, sweet, and attentive. One in our group has a coconut allergy & the bartender came over to discuss drink options and give recommendations. Got the Rosebud and Under Market cocktails-- both were delicious and well balanced. I loved the Rosebud personally, which was sweet and tangy but again, well balanced. Drink prices feel reasonable as well (~$15-17) which is very appreciated in this city.... I'll definitely be back.

Had this place on my list for a long time. Is bigger than I expected, beautifully decorated and it has one of the cleanest restrooms I ever seen in the city. The Rosebud drink was good, I was expecting more grapefruit though. The espresso martini was great. Not too strong. The Dublin Down was also great. Can't remember the name of the band but they were amazing! Sadly, I couldn't enjoy it so much because we were seated next to a very loud party of people. If you want to enjoy the music make sure the ask to be seated close to the stage.

My group of five walked in at 8:30 pm on Friday (right when the live music started), and we were able to get a table although towards the back without a direct view of the stage. Inside is quite roomy with standing space by the bar and an area for dancing in front of the stage. We enjoyed our drinks while chatting and listening to the live music. The Ava Gardner caught my eye with the Jasmine tea infused vodka. It was tasty, but I think I would've preferred lighter and refreshing flavors over the coconut milk and ginger. The Rosebud was perfect for me with gin, Lillet rose, and sparkling wine. I'd come back! I also liked that you can make a reservation without a fee (unlike Dawn Club nearby).

Loved this place! Super swanky and has live music. The drinks are super creative and the inside feels like a speakeasy.

The Local Edition is such a swanky yet lowkey little speakeasy. On Tuesdays, they have a jazz band that plays -- usually a big eight-person band with a rich, immersive sound. But I had the honor and pleasure of seeing them pared down to half-size: a four-piece with just piano, trumpet, bass, and drums. It's quite a laid-back place. I stayed for the band's entire set, and while the bar was relatively hushed, there was definitely conversation in the background -- it is a bar, after all. People are there for the ambiance, to chat, and to share a casual drink with friends, buddies, or co-workers. But I sat up front and sincerely enjoyed the music. I would definitely go again, maybe with my brother or another jazz lover, to see their full eight-piece set. I'd also love to explore more jazz clubs similar to this in the city! Last note: their Ava Gardner drink is so divinely sweet and delicious -- it's giving Southeast Asian inspiration with its jasmine tea-infused vodka, coconut milk, lemon ginger, aromatic bitters, and basil. Don't tell me that's not screaming Southeast Asian! I also tried The Local Edition (the namesake drink) -- honestly, it felt like sipping something crafted for a 40-year-old businessman or lawyer. Haha. Hearty, strong drink that figuratively punched me in the throat *and* my liver! Love it! Both bartenders who crafted my drinks were very amicable as well.

There are lots of visible places you can grab a drink on Market street in downtown San Francisco. There is place I like to go on the under. This place is stealth. Walking by the Hearst building on Market street there is a place which has great drinks and live music . You could walk by this place and not know there is an underground bar and live music playing inside. Once you walk down the stairs or take the elevator inside the Local Edition it feels like you stepped into a newspaper museum of history. You can see news paper articles from decades ago on the walls of the Local Edition . You could see the significance newspapers played a role in history of San Francisco and the USA. I came for a special event which had an open bar and I decided to try some of the different drinks besides beer and wine ( tried those too). I had the signature drink the Payback and it was tasty and was topped with Presecco. I then had to try a few Ava Gardner's which was refreshing with Jasmine Tea Infused Vodka, Coconut Milk, Lemon, Ginger, Aromatic Bitters, Basil. Then I tried a few Rosebud's which got its namesake from the movie " Citizen Kane" ( believed to be about a fictional character of William Randolph Hearst). The Rosebud has Gin, Lillet Rosé, Lime, Grapefruit, Spiced Pear, Sparkling Wine. It was not too sweet and it went down smooth. This is one of best places in San Francisco to get a drink on the under. Hold the "presses "there is is a place where where you can get a drink and be away from the modern day media hype "stresses" where people are in casual wear, suits and "dresses", and they come to this speak easy from different cities, zip codes and street "addresses" It's on Market street a block away from "Mission" , has a feel of the past speak easy"tradition "the days with no social media just information from newspaper and "television" and inside you can feel the vibe where a jazz band plays a musical "rendition" inside the " Local Edition "

Dope spot we stopped in on a Saturday night. Drank two California IPAs, which are two strong beers 7.5% to be exact. Enjoyed the entertainment which was a musical band/artist. The band was very entertaining throughout the entire night. The violinist went crazy! .There is a nice sized dance floor for patrons and a fully loaded bar. A time was had!

Le Jazz Hot Gypsy-jazz quartet, up close and intimate
Rich S.

A comfortable club with smooth jazz-swing. We experienced intimate acoustics and a clear view of the musicians. The drinks were creative and delicious. We had the exciting Brass Check, bourbon with zingy lemon and grapefruit, smoothed and sweetened by strawberry and maple. And a sort of Bolivian-French Aperol, Cynthia's Pearls, of distinctive Muscat Singani with complex sweet-then-dry fruity-then-floral Lillet Rosé. The Le Jazz Hot quartet was gently filling the room with waves of cool Gypsy jazz.

Very good cocktails! I wish I remembered which ones we ordered...

Tried this on a Saturday night, after being enticed by the promise of live music, and it did not disappoint! The service was prompt and our waitress was super friendly and willing to help us choose just the right cocktails for our individual palates. The music was not amazing or anything but it is always so fun to have the opportunity to pair good cocktails with love music of any kind. We will definitely be back!

Such a great and chill week day bar! I've been there on weekends and this was my first time going on a week day. The vibes were great for a date night or to catch up with a friend. The band were great and there was an amazing dancing couple which provided great entertainment! The service tho is better on weekends as the servers come to you vs going to them/ordering at the bar on week nights. Nevertheless the drinks were good and we had a good time!

There is a live music on Saturday nights now. Hip Hop/House.

Around 9pm.

When do they have live performances or use the stage, every time I've went the curtains were closed and for once I'd like to see it be used?

Today is Tuesday and there's live music and it's awesome

Need to be 21 to enter?

Yes, a bouncer checks IDs at the door.

What does a yelp reservation mean here?

You can reserve a table through yelp. Which I recommend if you want to sit down. It gets busy even on weekdays and is standing if you don't have reservations unless you get there right at 5 and be one of first to get bar tables before it fills up

What type of live music do they have on Saturdays?

Do I need to make reservations if I will have a party of about 8 people?

Depends when you go. We made a reservation for 6 on a Saturday and the tables were full.

What are their happy hour hours?

They might not have one. Place doesn't open until 5pm. Looks like they may have some cocktail specials ($10?) on weekdays though.

Ube Cheesecake ($19) Wonderful dessert cocktail to finish the night. We didn't have time to try the Escape Room connected to the Speakeasy, but we'll be back! There are two rooms, one in the front with a puzzle theme, and another in the back with a Middle Earth (Lord of the Rings) vibe. Staff was friendly and took time to explain the clever menu to us!

Lore's Wonderland escape room was a fun and delightfully whimsical experience. **This review is…read moremainly for the escape room, as we did not order any additional drinks outside of the escape room.** THE SPACE // Lore Speakeasy and Escape Room has cool themed decor everywhere, from the dimly-lit speakeasy/bar room in front, to the Middle Earth/Lord of the Rings-themed board game room, to the individual bathrooms, and of course the escape room's multiple Alice in Wonderland-themed rooms. Clearly a lot of effort went into building these rooms and evoking a certain vibe for each. THE ESCAPE ROOM // The puzzles in the escape room varied in difficulty - some required us to think a bit more, some required our observational skills to work harder, and others required a light level of physical skill/movement. We were perplexed a few times but never got stuck for too long, as the White Rabbit (played by Phoenix, the live actor/puzzle master) would jump in occasionally to provide clues over the speaker or in person. It took us about 1 hr 20 min to finish the entire escape room; I thought the pacing was good. THE [ESCAPE ROOM] DRINKS // Lore's escape room experience comes with "a flight of themed cocktails or mocktails, including "potion"-style drinks that are integrated into the experience as you progress", per the website. We got to choose one cocktail/mocktail option (Korean Cold Noodles) from a list on the website, and the other two drinks are pre-selected to supposedly fit into the Wonderland theme, with the flavors described online as "berry" and "peach". You can get both cocktail and mocktails for your party, in case some people want alcohol and others don't. We all enjoyed the flavor of the Korean Cold Noodles cocktail, which was refreshing and surprisingly a bit minty in the mocktail version. However, we didn't like the two other two pre-selected themed drinks as much. The "berry" drink gave us cherry cough syrup vibes, and the cocktail version of it was quite strong. The "peach" mocktail drink reminded me of canned fruit syrup; we also were missing the two cocktail versions, though we decided not to ask for them as the mocktail version already was less than impressive. One other missed expectation here was the size of the drinks that we received in the escape room. We were expecting full-sized cocktails, like what they serve in the speakeasy in front. Instead, we found out that the drinks are served in small "vials". Given the size of the drinks in the escape room, combined with us not even enjoying two out of the three drinks, I would preferred to go through the escape room without the drinks at all, and likely pay a bit less for the escape room then. OVERALL // I'd still recommend the escape room as a good one-time experience with a date/friends/family. Just don't expect too much from the included themed drinks! The speakeasy drinks on the main menu do sound unique/tasty, so I might come back again to try those sometime.

I liked the cardamom in the Beauty Mark as well that my partner ordered. We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.
