Chimichurri steak skewers and mini Dungeness Crab cakes off the happy hour menu 6.11.26
    Jeff H.

I don't think I've ever experienced a restaurant staffed with employees who way overshoot their station more egregiously. Happy Hour is upstairs in the bar, which they had roped off from downstairs and you had to be escorted up (like you're getting bottle service in Vegas or something). Hostess was extremely rude and in the most condescending tone possible told me "we're at capacity, you'll have to wait." I understand she had to convey a message, but it's not WHAT she said, it was HOW she said it. So I walked over to sit on the bench (I was the only one waiting) and then get the nod to migrate to Mecca apparently. Not five minutes after I parked on the bench a couple came downstairs and I asked the husband if they were leaving or just using the restroom. He said we're done and leaving. A few minutes went by then the runner brought me upstairs. I guess at Epic Steak "at capacity" means eight empty tables inside and six outside (it was almost 80 degrees when I came in, would've happily been seated outside; nope not even offered a seat there and yes the patio was open and not reserved, I asked). Service was beyond slow and I found out the entire happy hour menu is pre-batched that day. Meaning, no substitutions (which is common), but also no eliminations. Ummm, what? A couple of examples of what they consider eliminations: The mini crab cakes come sitting on top of a sauce which I personally don't like so I asked if they could just leave it off because I wasn't going to eat it. Nope. That's an elimination to them. So I asked my server, (claimed he couldn't locate the manager to address my question), "So let me make sure I understand this correctly, I told you i wasn't going to eat it as I was ordering it and please just simply to leave it off the plate, not to replace it with anything else. You're telling me, knowing full well that's it's just going to go to waste, that you're still going to waste the time to make it (when you're allegedly at capacity")? Yup, they sure did. Another example if you order the happy hour cheeseburger they don't allow you to be served without cheese. I asked well what if the person is lactose intolerant or just flat out allergic? His response, "Well then, they'll have to order off the big.boy menu and we'll customize it how they like." Oh gee thanks for that, I'd think after the cost of the dinner burger itself, tax, your 7% service charge (which doesn't all go to the staff but does help line the owner's pockets) and gratuity totaling roughly $45 it wouldn't exactly be asking for the moon to have the burger the way I want. Hey Epic, you've got a great location and the chimichurri skewers were very good, but at the next staff meeting everyone needs to drink some settle down juice. You guys aren't Smyth, so set your egos aside and focus on your customers. I'm sure the business is making plenty of money, but success should breed additional success not foster irrational confidence.

I really had high hopes for this place. Such a beautiful restaurant right by the water. I made reservations and was seated quickly. The service here was so horrible. It really ruined the experience here. i ordered the steak and fish the fosh was pretty bland the steak was good. Almost walked out before ordering desserts but it was my anniversary. I will say the cheesecake was the star of the show. It was amazingly good.

Came here with friends to try out this steakhouse and their happy hour! The ambiance was very nice - the happy hour requires outdoor sitting, and we had a clear view of the bay bridge and the surrounding water! The service was great as well! The server came periodically to check in on us, and provided us food recommendations. The food was also very delicious! The portion sizes were excellent for the price - the fried chicken was flavorful and a whole bucket! We also got the poke tacos and a variety of other foods to try. The drinks were also very good and we got multiple rounds of drinks, such as the spritz, to try out different ones. Overall, I would definitely come back again for the happy hour!

Came to Epic Steak to celebrate my brother graduating from SFSU and had a great time! If you're looking for a place to celebrate with great views, service and food, this is a great option! We had 8:45 reservations, but the ceremony ended earlier than we anticipated and we messaged them asking if we could move up our reservation and they did it with no problem! The only caveat was we had to be seated outdoors, but we didn't mind because we had a great view of the bridge, and the heat lamps kept us pretty warm for the whole night. From start to finish, the service was excellent! Our server, Francisco I believe was his name, was great and made sure to highlight my brothers graduation! The menu's had a congratulations print on it, and they gave him a note signed by the staff congratulating him on his graduation, which was such an awesome touch! He checked on us throughout our whole dinner and made sure we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying everything. He was attentive to the smallest details, like re-folding our napkins after getting up to use the restroom. He definitely made the already great experience here fantastic! After a long ceremony, we came hungry! We ordered a bunch of apps, but the standout was the beef tartare. It had great flavor and paired wonderfully with the potato chips. I went with the steak frites, and it was great! I asked for my steak medium, and it was cooked great. I enjoyed my fries, but felt they could've been cooked a but longer but that might just be my preference. They had a steak and chimichurri sauce with the steak, and the chimichurri was excellent! They also had black, pink and regular sea salt, and the black salt was amazing. It really elevated the steak, and paired with the chimichurri sauce was chefs kiss. We had to leave room for dessert, and we got almost one of each. The banana bread pudding was great! It wasn't too sweet, and had a great caramelized sauce. The bruleed banana was great addition and paired nicely with the ice cream. They gave my brother complimentary dessert of his choice, and also brought out a dried strawberry kiwi fruit brick thing that we didn't order, but appreciated trying! If you are celebrating a special occasion, I definitely recommend going to Epic Steak!

We came here for a work birthday celebration and it was such a treat!! Beautiful location with great views! You really can't beat that! So pretty. Service was good and so was the food. It's not for the faint of heart because it is a steak house on the Waterfront. So know that. We got quite a few items and I'm not even sure all of them since i didn't do the ordering. We ordered and shared everything. As for appetizers, the shrimps were good but my favorite was the crab cakes. Delicious. Small for the price and you get 2 only. The steaks were great and we actually did a 2nd round since with 8 people, it wasn't enough. As for the sides, I really enjoyed the mushrooms and mac & cheese. The Julia Childs potatoes I thought was just ok. For dessert we got like 2 of each of the first 3 or so, can't even remember. My favorites were the tiramisu and just the soft serve. The bread pudding I thought was just ok and would skip. The panna cotta was ok as well. We had an amazing meal. SYOY!

I asked for a medium rare steak, and I got it! The meat was juicy and very delicious with the chimichurri sauce! The water view is very nice from the outdoor seating. Service was top notch and attentive.

The good, the bad, and the tough. Let's start with the good, because unfortunately there isn't much of it when it comes to the food. Nice views and the staff was friendly and accommodating. We were here for a bday celebration and left extremely disappointed. The Tomahawk steak was so tough, chewy, and full of gristle that we had to send it back. To their credit, the kitchen staff actually tried it and agreed there was an issue (as reflected on the bill). We then ordered the Porterhouse as a replacement, but it wasn't much better and was overcooked and flavorless. Honestly, I've made better steaks from Costco in my air fryer--no joke. The fries were also disappointing. At $16, the portion was about the size of a small McDonald's order. The only truly standout food item was the Caesar salad. The complimentary birthday dessert, the Epic Sundae, was underwhelming as well: soft-serve ice cream (again like at McDonalds) over a stale brownie. For a restaurant at this price point, we expected much more. What was most surprising was that the manager never stopped by the table to acknowledge the issue with the Tomahawk or offer any explanation. A simple conversation would have gone a long way. Between the poor quality of the steaks, small portions, and lack of management follow-up = cannot recommend this restaurant and will not be returning. P.S. the bathroom was also not up to par.

Giving this place five stars just because of how good of a deal the happy hour is! Everything we ordered was so delicious. We got the crabcakes Wagyu cheeseburger bucket of fried chicken and everything exceeded my expectations, especially for the price! The bucket of fried chicken is literally a bucket for only $10, and the Wagyu cheeseburger was also so good and flavorful. Not to mention the drinks the martini was chefs kiss and was only nine dollars. Would definitely come back in a heartbeat for the happy hour check it out.!

Vibes are so cute! You get a great view of the bay bridge sitting outside, especially at night when it lights up. They have heaters and blankets so you don't get cold. Great place for date night. The service was pretty good. The waiter was attentive and food came out at a reasonable time. We did have to remind them a couple times about bringing out the sauces for the steak. I really enjoyed "The best damn fillet". Got it medium rare. The chimichurri sauce paired so well with it. The oysters were pretty good but got some rocks in it. For drinks, I got a vodka martini and make it pink cocktail. The cocktail was pretty sweet so I would skip if you don't like sweet drinks.

Went here for our anniversary, and they treated us so well! The menu even had "Happy 5th Anniversary" on it! The service, view, and ambiance were all really nice and enjoyful. I didn't dislike my food, but it wasn't really the most memorable part of the experience unfortunately. My steak was slightly overcooked and for a place called EPIC Steak... should know how to cook one. I probably won't be coming back, but it was still nice to experience.

We had a 4:45 reservation and I'll admit I was slightly panicked when GPS showed we were only 2 miles away but somehow 41 minutes out. I knew the restaurant had a 15-minute grace period and we were cutting it close, so I called. The person who answered was incredibly kind and reassuring and told us not to worry. That immediately set the tone. Once we arrived (after finally finding parking), every single staff member we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. Our waiter was knowledgeable, personable, and made us feel completely at home. He explained the menu clearly and gave us just the right amount of space to enjoy the experience without ever feeling rushed. We ordered the New York strip, ribeye, crab cakes, mushrooms, wedge salad, potato purée, Old Fashioneds, and I tried two wines -- plus of course the bread and butter. Everything was phenomenal. The crab cakes were absolutely delicious -- flavorful, well-balanced, and not overly heavy. The steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly -- even the fat was delicious (no shame ). The potato purée was so smooth it almost tasted chowder-like. The mushrooms were rich and flavorful. The salad was fresh and balanced. And dessert? Perfectly sweet -- not overpowering, not bland, just right. When we finished dinner, they boxed up our leftover steak for us and then placed the to-go bag on a small stand next to our table while we enjoyed dessert. Such a thoughtful touch. All in all, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Great service, amazing food, and thoughtful details throughout. Honestly, I'm not sure why the rating here is lower than expected -- we were absolutely blown away and would definitely come back

A slight booking mix-up on my end was handled graciously by the staff -- they accommodated a 6:30 PM rescheduling without any fuss. There's no valet, but a parking garage directly across the street makes arrival easy enough. The Caesar salad was a solid, tasty start. For the main, I ordered the ribeye medium rare -- well-seasoned and flavorful, though it came out a touch overcooked and leaned thin, closer to a supermarket cut than the thick, butcher-quality slab you'd hope for at this price point. The mashed potatoes and asparagus, however, were genuinely delicious sides. I rounded out the meal with the bread pudding -- sweet, rich, and the perfect finish. Service stood out: our waiter applied a lower combo rate when ordering sides and dessert alongside the steak -- a nice, customer-friendly touch. The interior is stunning, with massive windows framing dramatic views of the Bay Bridge that live up to the restaurant's name. The ambiance and service are truly epic. The steak itself has room to improve in consistency, but everything else -- the sides, dessert, views, and attentive staff -- makes for a memorable evening on the Embarcadero.

No parking lot just street parking up the street which we didn't mind we liked the walk. We were seated right away in the patio looking area . They had a fireplace which made the area warm and cozy. What was a turn off was that my fiancée and I came with my step son and you can tell the switch up in service that we got compared to a couple that was seated next to us. We were offered sprite , and only still water , while the couple next to us were offered bubbly water and were given the specials on the drink menu. The same waiter really took their time with the couple and was giving them the run down on the menu while with us he was just ready to take our order. We asked what he recommend and was just short with his answers. Whatever . The food was really good . No complaints on flavor or the cook on the steaks what so ever . However the last time we came the sides portion (Mac and cheese, potatoes) were wayyyyyyyy bigger, now it was barely enough to feed 3 of us. It wasn't a vibing vibe which was definitely a let down. Probably won't come back

    Is there valet parking?

No they no longer have valet service. But street parking is pretty easy

Do you have to make a reservation?

Highly recommended, you can always check in the bar!

July 2022, is valet parking back?

it wasn't when i went a few weeks ago.

    Bar/counter seating for solo diner?

Is outdoor seating available for the unvaccinated?

They do have out door seating. May be available upon request if you are making a reservation. I am not sure how strict they are about asking for proof of vac. The last time I was there a few months ago, they did not ask me for mine. Good luck!

Do they have prime rib on their dinner menu?

Do we need to be vaccinated to eat here?

I would have to assume YES, since it's located in San Francisco and the vaccination requirement for SF establishments started on 8/20/2021.

Are dogs still allowed if you have patio seating?

I sat outdoors with my small dog/ESA tonight, but there was also another dog at the table next to ours who didn't appear to be a service dog or ESA.

Is there a minimum for Dining? I've read their neighbor restaurant is minimum $75 each 🤨

There is no minimum though the local city ordinance requires all guests to have a meal and not just alcohol when seated. Please make a reservation as we run out of tables everyday.

    What is their corkage fee?

    $25 per bottle.

    Are there many/any vegetarian options?

They have a few if you still do seafood but i would go somewhere else. We went there, being meat eaters, and were forced to order 12 oz and 14 oz steaks starting at over 50 bucks because thats the beginning size unless you want a 6oz filet mignon… Read more

    Is parking available in restaurant?

I've seen Valet Parking, but I don't know the hours. Street parking is spotty.

What time is their happy hour? The website doesn't say.

2:30pm - 6pm I believe. Search Yelp photos for the menu!

Can you bring a bottle of wine?! If so what is the corkage fee ?! Thank you!

    $25

Is the Impossible Burger available at dinner or only at lunch?

They change their menu daily, at least for dinner. And it wasn't on the dinner menu the day we went.

    Do you guys have valetparking?

Yes we do! $20 per car. Valet is located curbside between Epic and Waterbar

Moody, warm interior -- think modern speakeasy meets Castro bistro -- with a vibe that works equally well for a date night or a group celebration. We came four deep and zeroed in on two things: the Butcher's Board and the Branzino. Both delivered. The Butcher's Board ($365, serves 3+) is an event. Prime ribeye, filet mignon, rack of lamb, grilled octopus, crispy calamari, truffle lobster mac & cheese, shishito peppers, creamy mushrooms, butcher's potatoes, and toasted ciabatta -- it's a full spread, and every component pulls its weight. The lamb and ribeye especially stood out. Four people left genuinely stuffed, which is saying something. The Branzino ($44) -- whole grilled Mediterranean white fish with kimchi, shishito, olive oil, and lemon -- was the perfect counterbalance to all that meat. Clean, bright, and beautifully done. Service was attentive and the pacing was great for a group. This is a reliable spot that doesn't cut corners on quality. Highly recommend making a reservation and going big -- the Board is absolutely worth it.

Everyone was warm, professional, and genuinely seemed to care about creating a memorable dining experience. Our server was outstanding. They anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, checked in at all the right times, and made excellent recommendations without ever making us feel rushed. It's rare to receive service that feels this effortless and attentive. The food was fantastic, the ambiance was elegant yet comfortable, and the overall experience reminded us why RH Palm Court has such a great reputation. We'll absolutely be returning and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional meal and first-class service.

I had a flight of their amaros and loved them all, followed by some excellent cocktails that highlighted their products. Dinner menu is designed for sharing/family style. Everything was delicious and creative. We started with their crispy chicken skins, a bitter lettuce ceasar, octopus salad, and their duck confit with a surprising corn couscous. Our server was excellent, with full knowledge of their spirits and lots of guidance for tasting. Loved the bright comfortable dining room, with a bit of vintage flair.

Very much appreciated that accommodation. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and tasted even better. There was a special with homemade focaccia, ricotta, pesto, and eggplant + tomato tapenade. I could have eaten a bowl of every ingredient individually, and together they were even better than the sum of the parts. We also had the curry chicken croquettes, citrus caesar, confit octopus, and gnocchi - all fantastic. And the drinks - next level. I had the Sam Fernando and it was dangerously drinkable, I had to order a second. My partner's Bird of Paradise bamboozled us with its clarified coconut milk - so wild to drink something CLEAR that tasted so much like a piña colada! Our other two party members had NA drinks that were also nuanced and delicious. I will very eagerly come back whenever I have the opportunity!

A charming little bistro inspired by the Marlowe cows, I'm assuming, managed to stun us with several memorable dishes. The warm deviled eggs were an excellent start. Savory yet delicate enough to not weigh us down right at the beginning of our meal. The horseradish aioli wasn't for me, but I can see its appeal for a certain audience. You give me a Calabrian chili sauce and it's guaranteed to make me happy and this shrimp with sweet corn was no exception. Again, light but a punchy flavor that was enjoyable. I could go on and on about the different dishes we tried but the real standout of the night was the pork tenderloin with chorizo and peaches. The sweetness from the peaches somehow managed to enhance the flavor of the chorizo. This dish gives you a bold, savory and sweet bite all together but still won't have you feeling super heavy. The portion size is perfect. Im hoping to return soon for another exquisite meal.

Filet Mignon is Medium Rare Perfection... Beautiful pink center, warm red ring, crust that had a nice sear. The Bordelaise sauce was rich, slightly sweet, and had that deep red-wine reduction thing going on. But the steak itself had zero salt. The sauce tried its best, but a steak shouldn't need to be drowned to have flavor. M&L Burger. Juicy, But Also... Juicy? That's It. But again: no seasoning. The beef itself was bland. There was a bacon jam or sauce on it that added some smokiness, but when I took a bite without it (just to test), I was met with... nothing. Just wet, unseasoned meat. Parmesan Truffle Fries were legit, crispy, hot, tossed in enough parmesan and truffle. The portion was huge (feeds 2-3 easily). Black Truffle Mac & Cheese. First few bites? Creamy, luxurious, black truffle shavings. But by the fourth or fifth forkful, it got heavy. Missing acid. A little hit of something sour like lemon, would have saved it. Also, the pasta was overcooked. Peaches & Crème Tart was Aggressively sour. The peaches were fine, but the yuzu sauce underneath was so overwhelmingly acidic that it felt like a prank. My face scrunched up like I'd bitten into a live battery. The crème was there somewhere, but it got completely bulldozed. One bite was enough. I left the rest. My dentist would approve. If you do go, order the fries, bring your own salt grinder, and skip the tart unless you enjoy punishment. Service was great btw.
