I usually don't leave negative reviews, but this experience was especially disappointing since it was for a birthday brunch. Things started off well, the appetizers were great, and we were excited for the rest of our meal. Unfortunately, after ordering our entrees, it never arrived. We waited about 45 minutes while tables around us, including people who were seated after us, received their food and had already finished eating. I understand that mistakes happen and restaurants get busy, but our server never came back to check on us or provide any update. We were left sitting there wondering what was going on, especially on a day that was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. After waiting so long with no food and no communication, we decided to leave. Always a great meal, with excellent classic cocktails. I've been to three of the four restaurants over the past 20+ years and I have never been disappointed. Tonight I had the half chicken with potatoes and roasted mixed vegetables. The chicken was tender, never dry. Two espresso martinis that would compete against some of the other major bars here in town (secret: they sprinkle powdered coffee grounds on top, it's delicious). I have never left a negative review and what makes it even more difficult is I enjoy their food. On 9/15, I placed a simple order for a Caesar salad with salmon, however they got my order wrong. No big deal cause everyone makes mistakes. Just refund my order or just replace my meal with what I want. I have spoke to 4 different managers from Carmen to Kenn and others who said they refunded my order. Well it's been 2 weeks and I just called back today and the lady manager who I spoke with said she would look into it again and call me back which didn't happen. At this point, I will not put anymore energy into this. Food is good but lack of competence by their entire management team will not allow me to eat there anymore. read more

I decided to sit inside because it was a little hot out. The service was great- friendly and fast. I got the 2 eggs any style, the eggs were fluffy and warm. The sourdough was a good stabilizer and the applewood smoked sausage was soooooo good! Very tender and packed with flavor: the oranges were fresh and the potatoes were seasoned well and hearty. I was really disappointed at my experience here and felt completely ignored. Worse when our servers stopped and we had plates that are empty, they didn't take them. It might be a personal pet peeve, but I can't stand it when my food comes out before my drink drinks especially when my drink drinks come out the good 5-6 minutes later. Plus, it was hard to order another round, which isn't something that you'd expect at a restaurant. The ambience and views is always lovely, but I don't go to a restaurant just for that. read more

If you're a fan of Yacht Rock and enjoy stiff drinks with skilled bartenders, Perry's on the Embarcadero in San Francisco is a must-visit. We stopped by for a quick drink while waiting for our ferry ride. We arrived just before the dinner crowd, around 4 p.m., and the restaurant was still relatively empty. The staff was incredibly accommodating and eager to assist us. Although we had just finished lunch, we couldn't resist having a drink in the bar. Our bartender was exceptionally friendly and personable, and his cocktails were fantastic. We were so captivated by him and our conversation that we almost missed our ferry. I'm already looking forward to returning to Perry's to try their food. The overall experience was truly pleasant, and I particularly enjoyed the yacht rock playlist that was playing throughout the restaurant. It perfectly complemented our cocktails. I highly recommend Perry's to anyone who appreciates Yacht Rock and wants to enjoy a great drink with a friendly bartender. read more

I was in SF on a short trip. I thought I would give this place a try. I give the food 5 out of 5. I ordered the pot roast with mashed and brocolli w/ carrots. And the cornbread was sweet and tasty. I would have given 5 stars but service was really slow. I took over 25 minutes to have someone bring me water and take my order. Once the order was taken my food came out pretty fast but it just took so long for someone to take my order. I thought they forgot about me. The Dodgers were in town and the joint was filled with a few fans. My animosity toward the team from SoCal has waned over the decades. Yet, I still wanted to yell at fans, "Take off that hat!!!!". Just kidding. On the upside it was a classy joint and the service was good. Plus, the beers were cold. What more could a couple of old, ugly guys ask for. A tip of the cap to our server who quickly cleaned up a spilled beer when my buddy accident knocked over his half-filled pint glass. Add bonus, the server refilled the glass free-of-charge. Perry's was a nice respite by the embarcadero, but there's not much else around, and their prices reflect that. Simply, it underwhelmed. I got a Manhattan, and a cheese quesadilla, while The Wife had the Mac and cheese and grilled artichoke. All of it tasted fine. But for the money, we could have had something more substantial and enjoyable somewhere else, and should have looked around a bit more. It's a heck of a setting though. read more

Was it good? Was it ok? Yes it was ok. Seated on the patio and took about 10 minutes before someone approached us. Gave them a solid 9 minutes after ordering our drinks or we were gonna bounce. They barely made the cut. Got our drinks, they were ok. Ordered the artichoke, it wasn't bad, I wouldn't come outta my way to get it again. Ordered the Reuben for our meal to split. Was it amazing? Was it good? Yes it was FINE. Service is very slow. I wanted to do two stars but the wife said the sando was worth an extra star so I bumped it up. Two hours for two cocktails, a beer, an artichoke and a sandwich. A little long, but still doable. They did split the sandwich on two plates without charging an additional fee, which was nice. If you'd like to sit for a couple hours and enjoy the view, it's fine but otherwise they're probably better choices. read more

Perry's on the Embarcadero is a waterfront extension of the original Perry's, which opened in 1969 on Union Street in San Francisco. Founded by Perry Butler, it aimed to bring the feel of New York's East Side bars and grills to the city. The Embarcadero location at 155 Steuart Street opened in November 2008 and offers classic American dishes. The setting features exposed brick walls and views of the Bay Bridge. As I mentioned in my original review a few years ago, this location is conveniently situated near my workplace, making it an ideal option for lunch, after-work drinks with friends and colleagues, or special occasions like farewell parties for departing coworkers. On this occasion, we gathered to bid farewell to a retiring colleague. We were set up at a great spot in the corner on Steuart Street that accommodated about thirty of us. We enjoyed a beer or two along with some delicious small bites. The service was excellent, as it always is at Perry's, and we all had a wonderful time. If you're looking to catch a game, I recommend sitting at the bar. There are a couple of large TVs that provide a good viewing experience, and the bartenders are always attentive, ensuring great service. On nice days, you might prefer sitting outside on the Embarcadero side. Otherwise, the dining area has plenty of comfortable tables that can accommodate groups of two to four people, and larger groups can make reservations in advance. The food is consistently good and made with fresh ingredients. I have always enjoyed my lunches at the bar while watching live soccer matches on TV. read more

I made reservations a couple months back for our first dinner in SF. Although it's a casual place, based on my research, it seemed like a popular neighborhood and tourist spot and I knew after driving up from OC we didn't want to wait to eat on a busy Friday evening. Upon arrival, it didn't seem too crowded. Busy but there were still plenty of open tables and spots at the bar. I initially requested patio seating but my husband and son didn't want to be outside as it was slightly balmy. We were seated close to the windows instead to enjoy the view of the Bay Bridge. We ordered the following: - French Onion Soup: very good. Nice and cheesy, could use maybe some more bread underneath but it was solid. - Buffalo Wings: these come sauced and were really tasty! Still had a nice crunch and bite to it even though they were very saucy. - Fish & Chips: great batter on the fish, which was very meaty and flaky. Standard fries, forgettable coleslaw (does anyone even eat the coleslaw?) - Chicken BLTA: husband said this was fine. Tastes as expected! - Kids' Chicken Tenders: not sure if these are the same tenders on the regular menu but my son ate it all up and had no complaints. - Apple Brown Betty: this was a cinnamon apple crumble pie w/ vanilla ice cream on top. Very rich and delicious! - Strawberry Cake: this was literally the same cake you can get at Ralph's/Safeway, etc. They must all get it from the same supplier! Still good but def not made in-house. Total for dinner (including 3 glasses of wine, a Shirley Temple, a coffee, and tax/tip) was $205. Service was very good. Our server came by often enough and was always pleasant. Note - we entered the restaurant through the Hotel Griffon on Steuart Street. I think there might be an entrance on the Embarcadero side, too. read more

Went for Sunday brunch. The Challah French toast was yummy, and the potatoes that came with the California Benedict were really well-seasoned and cooked. The California Benedict itself sounds great with avocado, tomato, and spinach, but the kitchen messed up. First off, they brought us the wrong order--a benedict with ham and no spinach or avocado. Neither me nor my friend eat ham, and on top of that, the yolk was completely hard. We let the waiter know and they brought us a replacement. Unfortunately, the new California Benedict still had a hard yolk. When we pointed this out, the waiter told us the yolk is typically hard for their benedict and that we have to specify. Not only does a hard yolk completely defeat the point of eggs benedict, but we did specify when we re-ordered... By this point, we didn't want to send it back a second time because we were already tired of waiting. It was a busy time for the restaurant so the initial wait was long, and having to wait even longer because of their mistake just dragged the whole meal down. The waiter did hook us up with soda on the house because of the mess-up, which was a nice gesture, but the experience just wasn't worth it. Atmosphere is pretty nice with a view of the water, but don't come here for the food. read more

Visited Perry's on the Embarcadero with a group of friends. The food and atmosphere were fine. We only stayed about 10 minutes after most of the group left. Service was poor, and our server, Flor, gave attitude to the friend who paid the bill. That is why he tipped below 15%. After most of the group left, she approached me, my girlfriend, and another friend while we were standing in the restaurant waiting for others. She asked if the service had been poor because of the tip. She knew who paid and still came to guests who did not pay the bill. A group of young adults can be a lot, but we were not disrespectful. This is not meant to be mean or personal. Confronting remaining guests about someone else's tip after the check was closed is unprofessional. She put us on the spot in front of other people for a bill we did not pay. In a service role, that is not how a tip should be handled. Tipping is between the guest and the server. read more

We are a party of 4 for a quick dinner meet up in San Francisco. Great food with reasonable prices. I ordered the delicious daily special of blackened shrimp over a bed of risotto. The spaghetti and meat balls were a very generous serving. The meatballs were soft and lots of spices so very flavorful. It included a big slice of garlic bread. The 2 sandwiches were prepared properly and arrived hot. This is a very reasonable priced restaurant and located directly across the street from ferry terminal. It was a 5 minute walk if you have to catch the ferry back. We came here on a Tuesday night and not too crowded. I did note there is outdoor seating and this would be a great place to have breakfast on a sunny day in SF. read more

Came to Perry's in a large around for happy hour around 4:30ish and I thought the experience was a little lacking. We came on a Wednesday, the place was pretty empty, our group opted out to outside seating. We ordered some drinks with appetizers and the drinks took a while to come, our group ordered a range of beer, cans and bottle beverages. Our appetizers also took it's sweet time, and it came out in waves. If we came during busy time, I understand, it would take time, but it was nearly empty inside and there was 2 groups in their outdoor seating area. We ordered some onion rings, calamari, loaded potatoes and some artichoke dip. I did not try the artichoke, but the onion rings was really oily for me, calamari needed ALOT of sauce, and the loaded potatoes was my favorite item. We opted out of staying for dinner at 6pm and took the party to next door instead. Overall, ok experience for the location and quality of service. It works, but it did not impress me. read more

WTH?!?! That's a first the place was loud Sean was upset because the Knicks had just lost. What type of customer service is that?
