Mo's Grill is a must try in San Francisco. I came for the Patty melt, but I hear their breakfast is bomb as well. The Patty melt was spectacular, I like the options for sides, I chose the fries, which were nice and crispy. I always enjoy a fresh OJ so that was a nice touch. The sourdough on the bread was just right, and I was impressed that the Patty didn't leave the bread soggy. They have been around since 1988 for a reason. This place sure holds the heart of San Francisco.
Tiny restaurant on Grant Ave in Little Italy. My usual place was super crowded and I was short on time so I tried this place. It was...meh. I ordered the eggs florentine and the hollandaise sauce was horrible. The spinach also had a weird taste/texture. At least the eggs were poached correctly, even tho they were somewhat flat. Not sure how they managed to do that. The crispy home fries were actually perfect, only reason I gave it three stars instead of two. Parking in this area is tough unless you are there early. I would try this place again, just ordering something different that doesn't involve hollandaise.
What a hole in the wall! An absolute throwback in terms of old schools booths and tables. Service? Absolutely impeccable and efficient with only one waitress. She's absolutely a force to be reckoned with, the way she anticipates every need. Hot chili? Extra water as soon as you're done drinking. Sticky fingers? Extra napkins on the fly. And the food? Just monster portions for such a good price. Really can't miss with anything in the place. My only regret was not getting the Friday special - huge rack of ribs!

Found this little gem in North Beach San Francisco on a Saturday morning stroll through Little Italy. It's a small place that sits about 25 to 30 people. Wasn't too busy when we got there and got a table right away. Everything on the menu looks good, I wanted to order everything. 2 Eggs with Half Hamburger Patty with Home Fried Potatoes was so good the Patty was juicy and well seasoned. The home fried potatoes were one of the best I ever had. I think its most likely made with beef tallow. French Toast was perfectly made. Side of Bacon was crispy and the Chicken Apple Wood Sausage was also made perfectly. I think it's because the were cooked on this rotating fire grill. Differently coming back!!! The service was great and attentive!!!
Just look at that Baby! Nothing like eating a Breakfast Burrito the size of a baby! This monster was delicious! 3 types of meat and crisp jalapeños with egg, potatoes, and yummy chili. This place is easy to miss. The front is inconspicuous so tourists may walk by. They do have a rotating burger grill in the front. Think Mongolian grill for burgers! The service is amazing and the atmosphere is cows and the 3 Stooges!
Dang, this place is good. Local establishment, with fresh, made to order food, and excellent service. The breakfast burrito was massive and kept me full for the rest of the day. The chocolate chip pancakes melted in your mouth. Even the side of bacon was crispy and juicy. This is a must breakfast/brunch spot in SF, highly recommend
When I first walked in I saw it pile of bacon in their grill station and they can look amazing!! So if I had any questions about whether or not this was the right choice, I'm feeling even better now.. I'll let you know after the meal if I made the right choice. So NOT the right choice!! The burger was a greasy flavorless bloody mess!! It was undercooked, the tomato and onions were cut too thick (that may be just my preference). I asked for medium and it's bleeding all over my plate. While discussing my order with the waiter, I asked for extra lettuce I didn't get that. When I asked him what type of fries they had, are they steak fries he said yes. I decided that I wanted a salad because I knew both would be too filling. Instead I got these little pieces of gravel shaped like french fries. I was able to eat three of them cuz the rest were more like kettle fries which I don't think anybody wants. I'm pretty sure you could crack a tooth if you try to eat them! I could have used one of the french fries to level out my seat that was on broken tile. This was a big disappointment!! I spent almost as much in gas getting here as I did on the meal. The burgers at McDonald's have more flavor (they're trash too) and I know that that's probably some fake flavoring they put on but at least it's flavor. If it didn't make me feel like my insides were dying I would have saved myself $40 between the gas and the burger and gone there. There's also nowhere to park and I promise you, you'll be really frustrated after you walk three or four blocks back to your car after giving them your money. The sharp cheddar didn't even have flavor! How do you take flavor out of cheese? I'm truly baffled I'm disappointed. Oh one more thing the pile bacon is a bad idea because they can get hard and it too is like gravel. I will say I'm giving it two stars because the waiter was very nice and apologetic when when he asked if I was full cuz I only ate half of the half of a burger and I told him why I didn't eat anymore and how I felt about the experience. I paid, tipped and left. I always tip even a small place like that because they probably pool their tips and it's not the dishwashers fault the food is crap.
Consistently solid food! Came here over 10 years ago when my husband and I started dating. I was always fond of their burgers and chili! Came back here last week and it was just as great as I remembered. My go to is the Belly Buster burger. Patties are grilled to order. No frills delicious burger. Chili is a must here. Perfect amount of seasoning with little spicy kick. Fries are also solid! It can get super busy here sometimes there's a wait. Definitely worth it!
This is a 10-table diner and luckily they had an open table on New Year's Eve morning. We got here late enough that they also had burgers available so we ordered scrambled eggs and a classic cheeseburger. The eggs were delicious! They were soft and fluffy. Probably some of the best I've had. As I walked in, I saw them cooking the potatoes per order and these were also very good. The cheeseburger was perfectly cooked to our order, with a nice thick slab of cheese on top. The fries were thin, crispy on the outside with a soft center. This is more of a laid back place and I really enjoyed my breakfast!!

Felt nostalgic so went back to North Beach Mo's grill for some old time memories. My family used to own the building. We had our real estate office at this location and my grandparents lived in the apartment above. Mos did a nice job with the renovations and the atmosphere was quite lively. Had the chili cheeseburger with a peroni beer. The chili had good texture and was quite tasty. Really fond memories today. Next time I will come back for breakfast.
If you're looking for a burger in North Beach, save this spot Mo's Grill has been serving up HUGE burgers literally bigger than my hand right off their open-flame grill. We tried the Best Burger and the Tex-Mex Burger and both were soooo juicy. The Tex-Mex was loaded with grilled onions, peppers + jalapeños and had so much flavor. And do NOT skip the fries. Discovered this place during a stroll through little Italy, and it's become a go-to with friends for a quick bite. Prices are quite good, considering the typical San Francisco pricing. The vibe is amazing, it's this old-timey hole-in-the wall kind of spot. The staff is quick and friendly, Paula is one of the best, has taken great care of me across multiple visits. And of course the food is incredible. They source really good, high quality ingredients, which make for a burger unlike what you can find anywhere else in the city. I actually live in the South Bay, but have driven up and decided to come here as part of a day trip to the city. I will be back again. read more

Came here during north beach's first Friday and was looking for a place that we can sit down for some sustenance. Cute diner vibes but the horrible experience with the service. There's only one waitress and I understand it's a Friday night and it's busy. We got our table first and set there awkwardly for a good 20 minutes before we got to order (have to physically get up to find the waitress to ask to order). Saw other groups set down after us get served first, was quite frustrated. We got the alpine burger with fries to share and each got a cup of clam chowder. It's a good diner burger with a hearty patty. The buns were a bit cold even tho it was roasted on their rotating grill. Fries were kinda just meh and bit soggy to my liking. The clam chowders were salty and kinda tasted more like potato soup. Wouldn't get that again. Overall, would come back for their burgers and breakfast when they're less busy and give the food another try. Just didn't have a great experience this time. read more

Wow. Huge portions, delicious food, casual interior, and super chill weeknight dinner spot to go to. They have a rotating grill in the front of the restaurant that they grill burgers and chicken on. The caesar salad they make with the grilled chicken is the best in the city. They also do daily specials, rotating between a rack of ribs, brisket, chicken, and others. Worth trying!! Time between ordering and getting food can be slow, but it's worth it. Service is really casual, but good. read more

Had to wait a bit to get seated but it was worth it. Lucky enough to sit at the small counter instead of a table which gave us a great view of the kitchen activity. Burgers were delicious. We had the Aussie burger and the cheeseburger. Come with an appetite as the burgers are big and the fries are great. read more

Walking around North Beach and decided to try Mo's, knowing it's been around for quite sometime. We were curious about this "no frills" diner. We entered around 5pm. There were at least 5 other tables during this off hour, which is a good sign. We both decided to get what they're known for, BURGERS! Each 1/2 lb patty is grilled over volcanic rock. When you enter, you can see the guy in the center cooking burgers! FRENCH BURGER ~ Best burger stuffed with imported goat cheese topped with caramelized onions on a crusty bun. I wanted medium rare which when I got it, it was a bit more rare than expected, but it was still good. I didn't get sick, so it's all good! But if you're not used to a red middle, I'd go with a medium doneness. The cheese was really rich and tasty! And I also got french fries on the side. (You get a choice of french fries, cup of chili, side salad, cole slaw or a cup of soup.) 5/5 PATTY MELT ~ Burger and 2 pieces of American cheese topped with caramelized onions on sourdough bread. This burger was perfectly medium rare, but the patty was only in the middle and would fit buns rather than two pieces of sliced bread. Basically, you don't get meat on the left or right side. I think if these patties are made to order, it should fit the bread? It just isn't as good if you get bites of onions and bread without meat. If you like meat and bread together, order a hamburger instead and skip the patty melt. The chili was good and a bit more spicy than expected. 3/5 It's about $20 for each burger with a side. That's an extra $4.50 for french fries, coke slaw, side salad, cup of chili or soup. Not bad considering your plate is really full and any hungry person would be satisfied at the end. We'd definitely come back when we're in the mood for a burger! read more

Mos grill. Man oh man. The food is top notch, servers are all funny and nice people. In such a busy and expensive city, it's nice to find a spot like mos that gives you BIG portions at reasonable prices. I've had their steak sandwich, breakfast burrito, and burgers - and I'll have all 3 again. The burrito may look gnarly (photo below) but it is so good. 3 types of meat, fresh ingredients. The meat was juicy and sauces were bold without going overboard. Fries came hot, and the crowd was a mix of regulars and tourists. It's not fancy, buy hits the spot when you crave something hearty. read more

Not a bad place to end up for brunch or just about anything. Menu is above the usual, staff prompt and kind, the only issue that isn't getting seated at a table or counter, but well worth it. Try a stroll through North Beach and burn a few calories after. Great Value. read more

Classic diner vibes (although what is NOT classic but very fabulous is the huge spinning grill at the front), hefty and delicious burgers, no frills but all the flavors! Please also indulge in the apple pie milkshake that has actual pie blended in there (a phenomenally American invention). read more
