    Huevos a la Mexicana

incredible food, incredible tasting, and a really sweet staff The huevos à la Mexicana was to die for all the ingredients were in there to perfection and I believe the salsa is homemade that they have the green and the red is delicious oh and the horchata latte!!!! yah!!! not to mention, the food is decorated like art

My first time eating Peruvian, the chicken was amazing, the pollo à la brasa. It was just so tender and seasoned, it got stripped of the bone. The aji was interesting because it was so different. Also scooped gone, it was like a thick different sauce with shredded chicken in it. Very good to go!

    Lomo saltado. Very flavorful.

Wow. Delicious food. I always walked by and it was always crowded at breakfast. I walked by tonight and knew I had to try it. Lomo saltado and ceviche mixto were soo flavorful. The guacamole ice cream and churro dessert was one of a kind. Genuinely good food.

Finally checked out this cute restaurant which opened in the last 2 years! The artwork hung on the walls appear to be from local artists with prices for sale, which added to the ambiance. My first impression was that the menu prices were higher than expected, and the portions are quite small for what you get. I ordered the empanada plate, which was tasty but nothing out of the world. The eggs Benedict were also tasty but small portions as well.

Challah Custard French Toast - 1/2

This was such a nice, cozy spot tucked in a corner in Nob Hill. Glad I finally got around to trying this place as it's been on my list for a while. While this French toast wasn't jaw dropping, it was still a yummy meal. The service was quick and attentive, and we weren't kicked out despite going on a very long yap session. Would come back in the future!

Mayaflor has been my favorite brunch place in Polk Gulch. Now with a new chef and expanded menu, they started serving dinner, too! It's tucked away on a cute, quieter street corner so it might be easy to miss out, but they serve very authentic Peruvian food and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Peruvian/ Mexican food. The owner is Peruvian but she developed a menu that inspired both by Peruvian and Mexican food. It's one of a kind. The pulpo a la parrilla is tender and juicy, the sauce in lomo saltado is very rich and delicious. The empanadas is definitely one of the highlights of the evening. The service is amazing as always. Please go and support this amazing local small business and their new venture into the dinner scene!

    Peruvian quinoa salad

MayaFlor left us satisfied but not impressed. We ordered the Peruvian quinoa salad with grilled chicken and the chilaquiles divorciados (red and green combo). We are HUGE fans of chilaquiles and have had our share of amazing chilaquiles. Though I appreciated that they offered a red and green combo, the chips lacked the thickness to hold the sauce without becoming soggy. The red and green sauces were both descent. Beans always take a chilaquiles over the top for us but the black beans in this dish fell flat. A delicious salad always excites my taste buds but the Peruvian salad missed the bar on greatness. The staff, though friendly, forgot the grilled chicken I added to the salad . They were very apologetic and provided a five star response by not charging me for the chicken that they eventually brought out. Unfortunately the chicken was a bit dry and the amount was not worth the $6 it would normally cost to add chicken breast. It was also disappointing that the olives added were not pitted and therefore could not be enjoyed with each bite of salad unless I wanted to chip a tooth. Overall the dishes were decent and it was not hard to finish both plates but with the abundance of excellent food options in SF, we will not be returning.

Great local spot with delicious lomo saltado and cute decor. They even have a small outdoor area to eat where you can people watch while enjoying your food. I took my food to go and it was so good, I want to come back to try more items on the menu and dine in. The workers were so friendly when I stopped by!

French toast & Heuvos a la mexicana

Was going to Mymy across the street but the line was too long and I stumbled upon Mayaflor. I loved the French toast, it was super tasty and not too sweet but the Huevos a la Mexicana was pretty average. The servers are really great! very attentive without being overbearing. Overall a really good experience!

Updating my review since it's 2025! Still an amazing brunch spot -- I typically go on weekends. Try to snag a table outdoors if it's a sunny day -- they're located on a corner, so it's also a cool spot to people watch. With that said, there is a decent amount of indoor seating available. In order to enter, there are a few steps you'll have to go down (in case accessibility is something you consider). The restaurant is run by the cutest family so there's a cozy atmosphere. There's not too many staff members, so it might take a while for things to come out when it gets busy (pretty standard compared to other places). There's a decent amount of classic breakfast items, and then a fun mix of Mexican dishes. On weekends, they have various specials available if you want to try something off menu! I personally recommend getting a side of french fries with whatever you order-- they're one of my favorites in the city and I always order them when I come (spicy aioli sauce is also top tier). I haven't tried their drinks myself, but friends have enjoyed them. Overall, this spot is one of my most frequented and I don't see that changing anytime soon! Give Mayaflor a shot and you won't be disappointed. Would love to see this small business pop off and thrive in 2025 (:

Fantastic food and service! Great menu with lots of different specials. We ordered the chilaquiles and the steak and eggs. Both were phenomenal, but definitely recommend ordering the steak and eggs for the group. Everything tasted fresh and light, and the staff were extremely kind and attentive. Can't recommend this place enough!

OMG! What a hidden gem! From outside it doesn't look special but don't be fooled, they prepare the most delicious dishes and the service is up and beyond. Highlights: the hot Mexican chocolate (it reminded me of old time birthday drinks) and the French challah toast is superb! Service is great and accommodating. Place is cozy once you step in.

No wait to be seated but the food took about an hour!!! The service is amazing everyone is so sweet and welcoming. When the food finally arrived it was so. good. Not sure if it was worth the wait but definitely a great spot.

Pozole! It was the special of the day!

For once in my life, I was forced to eat like a civilized man. On the outside, everything looked normal, but in the inside it was anything but normal: I had to open my third eye center so that I could ascend my primal instinct of going to town on this burrito. Equipped with a knife, I sawed thru that behemoth methodically - too fast and she would burst open, too slow & she would give me the cold side eye. I am the burrito slayer. Cash only, was very very well priced for the size (about $13. Receipt didn't make it out alive).

I have dined here many times in the past, and this is a cash-only restaurant. I ordered the Regular Burrito with Beef Steak ($10.25). The regular burrito comes with a flour tortilla, rice, beans, salsa, onions, and cilantro, plus your choice of meat or vegetarian. Meat choices listed on the menu: * Al Pastor - Marinated Pork * Carnitas - Deep Fried Pork * Chile Verde - Pork Green Sauce * Chorizo - Mexican Sausage * Carne Asada - Steak * Lengua - Beef Tongue * Pollo - Chicken * Cabeza - Beef Head * Tripas - Intestines I asked the cashier which meat was most popular, and he recommended the beef steak, which had a slight hint of spiciness. The burrito came with pinto beans and rice. I forgot to ask if I could substitute black beans. The burrito wasn't too salty, and the beef steak was just okay. I also think the $10.25 Carne Asada burrito is a good deal. At other taquerias, carne asada is often an additional charge or the burrito costs more when you choose steak. I usually ask for a receipt even when paying cash. When I checked my receipt, I noticed I was charged an additional $0.25 for "Bolsa To Go" (bag) even though I was dining in and didn't receive a to-go bag. It's not about the $0.25, but I think it's important for a business to have integrity and charge customers only for what they actually receive. I hope this isn't something being charged to other dine-in customers as well. Overall, I would come back to try a different meat, but next time I'll make sure to clearly say dine-in and check my receipt to make sure I wasn't charged for a to-go bag.

I got my food about 10 mins after ordering. I went with what was popular. The Dorada (toasted) super carne asada burrito was great, but I wish it was more toasty. It was softer than it looked and I assumed that was because they are frying it in lard ? But overall solid and great burrito. I thought the tacos are slept on here. Both asada and lengua tacos were incredible. Tortillas were really fresh and yummy, and they stuff it with a lot of meat (). We came here on a random Thursday at 3 pm and surprisingly, the line still almost reached the end of the block. Luckily, the line moves pretty quickly and the food is solid, but be prepared to wait for a bit. My favorite meats here are the cabeza and the lengua. The cabeza is super fatty and tender and has the amazing shreddy quality of a slow cooked meat. It had the soft melty texture of collagen and was super delicious. The lengua is also really good. It was super tender and soft and had the distinct taste of beef tongue but wasn't too overpowering. The carne asada and carnitas had a good flavor but were a little bit dry for me. I think they would be better in a super taco or burrito where you have the extra fat from the cheese and avocado. My only complaint about this place is the price. I realize that everything in SF is expensive, but over $5 for a single taco and almost $9 for a single super taco is pretty egregious. There's food trucks all over the Bay Area offering cheaper (and almost, if not, just as good) tacos in my opinion.
