I live in the area and have watched a lot of restaurants come and go in this spot, but Mayaflor has stuck around and I always noticed a steady crowd eating there. Finally decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. Showed up around 10am on a Saturday with one other person and we were seated immediately, no wait. The space is on the smaller side with limited seating inside and out, so that might change depending on when you go, but the timing worked out great for us. Service was genuinely lovely. Everyone was warm, quick to offer recommendations, and my order came out about 10 minutes after I placed it which I appreciated. I got the huevos rancheros and added bacon. Really good call. I ordered my eggs sunny side up and once that yolk broke over everything it just took the whole dish to another level. The kind of bite where all the flavors come together perfectly. Would definitely come back, and I especially want to return for dinner to work through some of their evening menu items.
I found this place while being up the street for a work event. I noticed their menu had breakfast which I really wanted but knew it was already too late I still decided to try it out. The set up is smaller more intimate feeling but extremely welcoming. I decided to get a michelada and try the panuchos and empanadas, which came with two different sauces. I ended up getting a few orders of those, some of the best I've tasted in a really long time. The service was quick and efficient. I didn't try anything else since I filled myself up on those but I am very eager to try more of their food especially their breakfast. If you are in the area I highly recommend, I don't live in the area but would make the drive for this food.
My first time eating Peruvian, the chicken was amazing, the pollo à la brasa. It was just so tender and seasoned, it got stripped of the bone. The aji was interesting because it was so different. Also scooped gone, it was like a thick different sauce with shredded chicken in it. Very good to go!

Finally checked out this cute restaurant which opened in the last 2 years! The artwork hung on the walls appear to be from local artists with prices for sale, which added to the ambiance. My first impression was that the menu prices were higher than expected, and the portions are quite small for what you get. I ordered the empanada plate, which was tasty but nothing out of the world. The eggs Benedict were also tasty but small portions as well.
This was such a nice, cozy spot tucked in a corner in Nob Hill. Glad I finally got around to trying this place as it's been on my list for a while. While this French toast wasn't jaw dropping, it was still a yummy meal. The service was quick and attentive, and we weren't kicked out despite going on a very long yap session. Would come back in the future!
Wow. Delicious food. I always walked by and it was always crowded at breakfast. I walked by tonight and knew I had to try it. Lomo saltado and ceviche mixto were soo flavorful. The guacamole ice cream and churro dessert was one of a kind. Genuinely good food.
Mayaflor has been my favorite brunch place in Polk Gulch. Now with a new chef and expanded menu, they started serving dinner, too! It's tucked away on a cute, quieter street corner so it might be easy to miss out, but they serve very authentic Peruvian food and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Peruvian/ Mexican food. The owner is Peruvian but she developed a menu that inspired both by Peruvian and Mexican food. It's one of a kind. The pulpo a la parrilla is tender and juicy, the sauce in lomo saltado is very rich and delicious. The empanadas is definitely one of the highlights of the evening. The service is amazing as always. Please go and support this amazing local small business and their new venture into the dinner scene!
MayaFlor left us satisfied but not impressed. We ordered the Peruvian quinoa salad with grilled chicken and the chilaquiles divorciados (red and green combo). We are HUGE fans of chilaquiles and have had our share of amazing chilaquiles. Though I appreciated that they offered a red and green combo, the chips lacked the thickness to hold the sauce without becoming soggy. The red and green sauces were both descent. Beans always take a chilaquiles over the top for us but the black beans in this dish fell flat. A delicious salad always excites my taste buds but the Peruvian salad missed the bar on greatness. The staff, though friendly, forgot the grilled chicken I added to the salad . They were very apologetic and provided a five star response by not charging me for the chicken that they eventually brought out. Unfortunately the chicken was a bit dry and the amount was not worth the $6 it would normally cost to add chicken breast. It was also disappointing that the olives added were not pitted and therefore could not be enjoyed with each bite of salad unless I wanted to chip a tooth. Overall the dishes were decent and it was not hard to finish both plates but with the abundance of excellent food options in SF, we will not be returning.
Great local spot with delicious lomo saltado and cute decor. They even have a small outdoor area to eat where you can people watch while enjoying your food. I took my food to go and it was so good, I want to come back to try more items on the menu and dine in. The workers were so friendly when I stopped by!
Was going to Mymy across the street but the line was too long and I stumbled upon Mayaflor. I loved the French toast, it was super tasty and not too sweet but the Huevos a la Mexicana was pretty average. The servers are really great! very attentive without being overbearing. Overall a really good experience!
Updating my review since it's 2025! Still an amazing brunch spot -- I typically go on weekends. Try to snag a table outdoors if it's a sunny day -- they're located on a corner, so it's also a cool spot to people watch. With that said, there is a decent amount of indoor seating available. In order to enter, there are a few steps you'll have to go down (in case accessibility is something you consider). The restaurant is run by the cutest family so there's a cozy atmosphere. There's not too many staff members, so it might take a while for things to come out when it gets busy (pretty standard compared to other places). There's a decent amount of classic breakfast items, and then a fun mix of Mexican dishes. On weekends, they have various specials available if you want to try something off menu! I personally recommend getting a side of french fries with whatever you order-- they're one of my favorites in the city and I always order them when I come (spicy aioli sauce is also top tier). I haven't tried their drinks myself, but friends have enjoyed them. Overall, this spot is one of my most frequented and I don't see that changing anytime soon! Give Mayaflor a shot and you won't be disappointed. Would love to see this small business pop off and thrive in 2025 (:
OMG! What a hidden gem! From outside it doesn't look special but don't be fooled, they prepare the most delicious dishes and the service is up and beyond. Highlights: the hot Mexican chocolate (it reminded me of old time birthday drinks) and the French challah toast is superb! Service is great and accommodating. Place is cozy once you step in.

LOVE this place. Their ceviche mixto was incredible, that tangy leche de Tigre was perfect! This is a really good, low key neighborhood restaurant with big flavors. Perfect for a low key, and affordable meal that is so satisfying. I can't wait to go back. read more
The folks at MayaFlor are so sweet! I've walked by a few times and love the Pride flag in the window and being able to see into the kitchen. This is a thoughtful restaurant that will take good care of you, so come through! My wife and I stopped by on a lark for an impromptu date night and had a great time! Pros: 1. Amazing music 2. Cute view into the open kitchen 3. Tasty and fresh food 4. Friendly team that's attentive and kind 5. Affordable and tasty cocktails- where else can you find a $12 pisco hour 6. Happy Hour for brunch on the weekends- $5 beer and $7 mimosas 7. Lots of cute plants 8. Tasty and unique sauces 9. Colorful, vibrant, and lively! 10. Maybe brunch is the better call here -- which was actually our original plan. But fate has a way of messing with your plans, and that's exactly what happened, so dinner it was. It was only about 5:30 on a MOnday, but the place was completely empty. I wasn't really hungry, so I was mostly there to pick at whatever my husband ordered. He went with the lomo saltado, which is generally a steak-y stir-fry situation with French fries tossed in and a savory stir-fry sauce. Unfortunately, this was not my favorite interpretation. Instead of everything being stir-fried together, it was more like a stir-fry dumped on top of French fries. And it was way too salty for me. The fries also seemed more like the frozen variety, which didn't exactly help. BUT... there is a redemption arc here... The churros for dessert were spectacular. Freshly fried and served with house-made dulce de leche, they were exactly what we needed to end the meal. Honestly, I'd come back just for those -- and maybe give brunch a try next time, which was the plan all along! ALSO - side note - my friend loved the fish taco, but I did not try them. read more

Was going to Mymy across the street but the line was too long and I stumbled upon Mayaflor. Fantastic food and service! Great menu with lots of different specials. We ordered the chilaquiles and the steak and eggs. Both were phenomenal, but definitely recommend ordering the steak and eggs for the group. Everything tasted fresh and light, and the staff were extremely kind and attentive. Can't recommend this place enough! read more

No wait to be seated but the food took about an hour!!! The service is amazing everyone is so sweet and welcoming. When the food finally arrived it was so. good. Not sure if it was worth the wait but definitely a great spot. read more
We went in tonight for a nice dinner. Mayaflor is a rebirth of the former Olea with a new latin twist (at least for dinner). I enjoyed a Mexican Caesar salad and Lomo Saltado. I enjoyed both. The server is sweet, it's a nice little place that isn't crowded and we look forward to going back. They brought back some of the big hits for brunch like Challah French Toast and eggs in cazuela. I used to go nearly every Saturday for the scrambled egg sandwich when it was Olea. Glad the chefs are back and brought back the hits. read more
Wow, yelp comes through again! Is it just me or is San Francisco the GOAT when it comes to stumbling on something amazing? MayaFlor was a bright and delicious walk in experience. The small but cozy space hosts about 10 tables inside and a few along the sidewalk surrounding. I was able to quickly snag a seat, order a coffee and ask for recommendations for a dish that was unique to them. I was recommended the Huevos Motuleños which ended up being a perfect suggestion. I had never tried anything like it. Peas, plantains, and ham scattered atop fried eggs stuffed within two fried tortillas. The sauce, combined with the beans, egg yolk, ham, peas, and plantains composed and I quote the server "a melody" of flavors. The only thing I didn't like was that it was gone almost immediately! Do yourself a favor. Go and try this place. read more
I used to get brunch at Olea once a month back when I lived in Nob Hill, so I was pleased to learn that they brought back their chef and some of the brunch favorites like the cazuela and challah french toast to MayaFlor. I came for brunch today and ordered the chilaquiles divorciados style, since I wanted to try both the green and red sauces. The chilaquiles were so delicious. I ended up enjoying the red sauce more, but I liked getting both sauces. I stole some avocado from my partner's salad and wished I had ordered avocados on the side. These avocados were so tasty. We also got an 1/2 order of the French toast to share between two people, which was also a great choice. The French toast is even better than I remembered. I'm definitely going to add this to my regular brunch rotation and try the Peruvian items like the lomo saltado and pollo a la brasa. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the neighborhood. read more

A new brunch place in my neighborhood that took over the pricey boba place that was here before? I had to try it! Service was very attentive when we walked in on a Sunday morning around 11am--just before the brunch rush! I enjoyed my chilaquiles--it was filling and the eggs and corn tortillas had good flavor. BF enjoyed his egg sandwich. I love the outdoor seating option. Will be back--I hope they open during the week! read more
Came for Sunday brunch and ordered the empanadas. I was a bit disappointed by the serving size and value of the dish. Service was very slow. It took about 20 minutes after we received our drinks to put our order in, and only after I inquired about the check inside did they bring it out. read more
Went to MayaFlor for a Saturday brunch based on the raving reviews and was not disappointed. We were greeted and seated right away; there are a few tables inside and tables outside as well. Service was friendly and efficient; the food and drinks came out very shortly after ordering. I got the verde chilaquiles and it was delicious. Recommended for a tasty Mexican meal. read more
Such a cute little spot. Service was a 10, the waitress was super sweet. Food was amazing. Perfect food for a cold and rainy morning. Had the red chilaquiles which were delicious and only made better by adding some of their homemade red salsa. The salsas are not on the table so be sure to ask or you'll miss out. read more

Mexican Style Benedict - exceeded expectations. Flawless poached eggs (leaning easy) & hollandaise. Carnitas pork was tasty, moist - I enjoy more crispy, personally. The Sope masa (corn) basket steals the show & takes me to Abeula's kitchen. I will absolutely be back. Staff is attentive and remarkably friendly. Cozy spot. I hear they're known and frequented for breakfast & brunch but we came for their happy hour. 3-6 pm. See the flyer for when it's available. Some of the dishes are seasonal but everything is fresh. Cute subterranean space. Had the lomo saltado- bits of delicious steak, tomatoes & jus over fries. Delicious. Also had the bbq pork ribs with cold macaroni. Bueno. Add a couple of glasses of good pinot Grigio, cabernet sauvingon & piso sour. Muy bueno. Freddy was kind & knowledgeable about the food & we chatted about where he sources ingredients. We'll be back. This place has been open in the neighborhood for quite some time but I've never had the chance to go check it out as they're only open for brunch on the weekends. I decided to check it out and they had a very nice selection of breakfast items including some heavier foods that could be larger portioned such as lomas saltado and steak and eggs. I ended up having cazuela, which is for those that don't know, similar to shashuka. The perfectly baked eggs in the tomato base sauce with tender meat and a slight smokiness, was very satisfying and the perfect portion for a savory brunch. Other dishes to notate are the chilaquiles. I highly recommend you go try this quaint, local joint. Please support this beautiful family that are working hard to eventually open up for dinner. So stop by for brunch, it's never too busy, and they do have outside seating. read more
