Came for hh and we enjoyed the chicken quesadilla, mango and prickly margs, and guacamole with vegan chiccarones. Staff were friendly and helpful. Loved their repurposed mezcal water bottles.

Santeria in the Castro was excellent. It works well for both larger groups and smaller, more intimate dinners. The guacamole is a must-order for the table. I had the al pastor tacos, and you could tell the tortillas were homemade. They were a bit thicker than I expected , but in a way that really worked and added to the overall experience. I'd definitely go back.

We came for bottomless mimosas and it was a great experience!! The standout feature of this place was the amazing service, so attentive and kind. The food was also delicious and was very generous portions perfect for sharing as a group! Really cool bottomless feature they have includes micheladas and sangria as options! Highly recommend this place

All the food was amazing, came back during happy hour and had a pitcher of margaritas and a bunch of the happy hour dishes and those were all good, it never seems to be packed when I show up so I tend to get a lovely booth - both indoor and outdoor seating. the staff is all very nice and attentive, they never miss a beat even while running around helping everyone else. id highly recommend this spot

We have found our go to happy hour spot! Santeria has a pretty chill easy vibe. We arrived and the waiter was very helpful. We had the nachos with carnitas. It was well seasoned, plenty of flavor!! That went along with pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream definitely can't forget the red pickled onions. All that yumminess is served on thick crispy corn tortilla chips. The corn esquite did not disappoint. The corn with sour cream, and cheese with a splash of Tajín. The drinks were on point, the margarita was well mixed with balanced flavors, can't go wrong with a beer for me. The one that really got me on the flavor is a shot of "amor" or "love". Amor is really a bartenders choice. He made us a shot mixture of prickly pear juice and tequila with Tajín on the rim of shot. It was so good! And how did the bartender know I love prickly pear drinks.. hahaha Excellent place to hang out with friends. Have drinks, and yummy food. I am really happy we visited Santeria. It was a very pleasant experience!

Super delicious tortillas, that Im pretty sure were home made or made from scratch. That was by far the best things about the food. I like most of the dishes a lot. I would say out of 5 dishes 3 were amazing and 2 were lack luster. The verde enchiladas(not pictured) fell flat that was the least favorite and we both agreed on that. The cauliflower was a bit soggy & the flavor was ok but the crispy, crunchy factor was not there. The service was very good, friendly and attentive. The decor was cute too it had some unique touches that I appreciated... the big mural was beautiful, red and bold! It was a unique take on Mexican food that I liked but didn't necessarily love.

friendly but a little bit of a "lax" / slow service. felt like we had to be proactive about bills, water, utensils for the table, etc. food overall was tasty, especially quesabirria tacos! so cheesy and crispy exterior. chips with salsa (trio dip) always a must

I was pleasantly surprised by the food. Service was pretty fast, interior was pretty w a variety of seating. Went around 6pm on a Friday with no wait. Everything we got was absolutely delicious, I was very surprised. Will def come back!

Happy Hour nachos and guava margarita! Yum! Thinking about ordering another drink! What do you think?

Finally I eagerly came back to this place since my last Yelp event introduced me to this place when they first opened. Happy Hour nachos and guava margarita! Yum! Thinking about ordering another drink! What do you think? Wow, I forgot to post this, but better late than never. But have been here multiple times for Happy hour. I just love the atmosphere. Eating both outdoor seating or inside restaurant are both good. Love their strong drinks and appetizers are quite tasty. Would I go back, well of course silly this place is always great. Yummy in my tummy !

Finally made it out here for dinner the other weekend and had a good time overall. The vibes were energetic, and the interior was clean and colorful. Service was ok, not the friendliest but quick enough. I was hoping to love Santeria, but I'm giving it 3 stars because the food and the price weren't quite there for me. We ordered drinks and the molcajete to share. I was super excited to find a molcajete in the city. It was huge and filled with proteins, and the tortillas were fresh. Unfortunately though, the salsa was very one note and a little too salty and peppery. I was hoping for some greater depth in flavor. I think it needed a little bit of sweetness to balance the taste. Still, solid date night spot! I'd be down to come again for a couple drinks.

Quiet on a Sunday early evening; I bet they had a hoppin' brunch! After we were seated, we had to wait a few minutes for menus and water while people rushed around setting up for dinner service. We were famished and started ordering immediately. I correctly suspected allll the food was going to come out immediately and asked them to pace the last two plates. Oops, too late. Timing was an issue, food was great though, loved the Mexican Wings, meaty and double fried with lots of garlic and just the right amount of heat. Guacamole de Casa was very good with extra puffy vegan chicharrones (both $13) that were a crunchy and savory surprise. Fish tacos ($16) were delicious and filling with generous pieces of battered mahi mahi. BBQ nachos with tequila and chile de Arbol marinated chicken were inhaled in a new land speed record ($14). Put Santeria on your list if you're in the mood for delicious tacos and outstanding margaritas.

Super cute spot in the Castro that I recently discovered based on the recommendation of friends- we came here on a Thursday night for dinner and it seemed like there were a lot of reservations, but were able to get a high top table with stools without a wait ~ 630 PM. It seems like they have a great happy hour menu that ends at 6 pm, as well as some taco Tuesday deals! The ambiance was top notch, and this is a great spot for a date! Regarding the food: The fish tacos Quesa Tacos, and the Queso fundido (latter both with mushrooms), were absolutely fire. The guacamole was OK- I would give it a 3.5/5 because it desperately needed salt, and would not order it again. Otherwise this is a great spot for some good food, cute ambiance, excellent service, and it is relatively easy to get a table! Highly recommend, and will be coming back to try their taco Tuesday deals.

    Are kids okay?

I think kids should be fine in the dining room and would love the food. At least mine would.

Do they have a happy hour?

Yes! From 3pm - 6pm. Margaritas and some others cocktails and beers. Tacos, churros, and other bites. Indoor or outdoor seating.

Are there any gluten free options on the menu?

Yes, we do! Please see our menu online — we've updated the descriptions to specify vegetarian, dairy, and gluten-free items.

Is the outdoor seating area just on the sidewalk, or out back?

They do not have a back patio. Seating is inside, on the parklet, or on the sidewalk.

We ordered shishito peppers and mushroom bahn mi sliders. The mushroom bahn mi sliders were amazing - the quality fillings and taste of the soft bun - I was unexpectedly hit with a bite of spice from maybe jalapeño seeds left but didn't sour my experience. The shishito peppers ended up being extremely spicy as well, those are usually just a few spicy and not the majority. The roasted lemon and salt was a wonderful combo but just too spicy to eat. However, the server very kindly removed it from our bill without us asking. We order the crostini because we were still hungry and that was an absolute hit. Delicious med-soft crostini with luscious berries and sweet honey. I didn't care my hands got sticky as it was soooo good! Great experience, I would be weary if the peppers as I'm a bit spice-intolerant but everything else was spot-on.

My favorite was the watermelon and guava. I would definitely come back for the drinks. I didn't enjoy the food, and here's where it went wrong. We first got our chips and salsa. The chips are seasoned like Doritos so there's a nice flavor but the seasoning is in consistent. Some pieces were SO salty and some had no seasoning. The salsa is pretty rich as well. When our ceviche came, I ate a bite without the seafood and it tasted fishy. When I tried the actual seafood part, I knew it went bad because it had such a strong odor. We had to send it back but saw them serving it to other people. I eat a lot of seafood and I don't mind a slight fishy taste but this was definitely a food poisoning situation. After that it took a very very long time to get our last dish. Unfortunately when it finally came out, it was a disappointment. The octopus texture tasted like it had freezer burn, then was over cooked, sat too long after it was cooked because they had to make the fries. The fries were fresh but the octopus was dry, cold, hard, and chewy. I've had lots of pulpo before and this was a let down. It was a bummer that we didn't get to eat much and decided to walk somewhere else to finish dinner.
