It's a big portion, but it was so good we ate the whole thing. We also ordered the Trick Nuggets and the Mission Dog. The nuggets were good but nothing extraordinary. Absolutely love the creativity and energy behind this bar. Trick dog changes up their menu every half year, and they go all out with the concept. I went recently and the theme is Meet Me in the City (photography + cocktails) and I felt like I was perusing a photography book when looking at the menu. Pictured below was their circus theme from last year. There's always a cocktail or two that I like, and they have a good range from classics to creative twists. This time tried the pickle beer, I love pickles so this one wa really interesting. They also have a selection of food which is great, all their sandwiches are on hot dog buns so it's kinda funny! But this place is definitely on the pricier side. It's also pretty frequently super packed at times I can't really stay long because people are legit shoulder to shoulder. After hearing so many rave reviews of this place, I'm truly disappointed with my experience. I love the quirky menus and the neighborhood the restaurant sits in. But where Trick Dog fell flat for me, was the service. It was extremely hard to order as the bar gets very rowdy and bartenders take their time making drinks. I'm especially disappointed that the bartender failed to mention that one of our drinks was non-alcoholic. It was in the fine print of the menu, and I only noticed when I went back to admire how beautiful the menu was. My crew and I wanted to find a bar nearby and I found Trick Dog open until 2AM! Their kitchen was still open until midnight so we wanted to grab food as well! It's almost like a club but a bar too. The music they were playing 11/29 was popping with a lot of throwbacks (Alice Deejay, Venga Boys). The bar is pretty intimate and not really good for groups but lucky we were only a group of 3 and found space at the bar. The drinks are super unique (see photo). Not overly sweet and the alcohol isn't too harsh. Once midnight hit, the bar announced it was one of the bartender's birthdays! Pacho?? So wholesome to see the workers announce this and the whole bar sang happy birthday to him. What a cool community Trick Dog has created! Their menus are designed really well, but hard to see/read in the dark. Had to use the candle and phone lights to see lol. I went with their espresso martini, really solid, definitely good enough to order a couple. For food, we went with their famous kale salad, which is one of the best salads. Crunchy, flavorful, and as someone who doesn't like salads, I'd always order this one. The burger dog was tasty, solid and satisfied the craving. Fries were also good. Reviewing Tricks Dog's AAPI Cocktail Week event: Asian Invasion Arrived about 20 min after the start of event (6:20pm) and had to wait in line for about 15 min outside the venue. Staff were super friendly and explained they wanted to make sure bartenders weren't overwhelmed by crowds. Once we were inside it was definitely full, but we were able to get our drinks within 10-15 min. The menu for AAPI cocktail week was fun, filled with unique drinks from guest bartenders and we were tempted to try them all! Highlights from the night included Manila gold (whiskey, mango, vanilla and calamansi) as well as the salted plum highball (gin and salty plum soda). The food menu was from All Pau - everything looked amazing and we heard rave reviews from attendees who ordered food. We ended up getting the butter mochi trio which was the perfect sweet bite to complement all our cocktails. My favorite cocktail was the Dolores: Fords gin white negroni, green tea, C02. The ice cube was a beam with "Meet Me in the City" embossed. It was so light, easy to drink, floral. I loved it! The Cinemaphile: Torres 15 yr brandy, px sherry, labneh, pineapple, coconut, za'atar, lemon was also good, but very big. I liked the lemon, labneh, za'tar a lot, it was boozy. I cannot get over the kale salad, simple done so so well. It was easy to eat. I am so surprised I was reaching for salad over fries! The trick dog burger is served like a hot dog? My friend thought it tasted fine though, saying that's what coconut milk was supposed to taste like. We came to Trick Dog for a drink before our reservation at Foreign Cinema. We sat by the bar and were lucky to spots as we were pretty early. It was the Circus menu and we got the Illusionist and Glass Walker. I loved the Glass Walker with gin, rice vinegar and wasabi. The hint of wasabi in particular was really interesting. The Illusionist was pretty sweet and reminded me of a tiki bar drink. It did have a nice smoky aftertaste with the mezcal but it was a bit too sweet and creamy for me with the sherry cream. The dress was delicious and there was a good portion. The hotdogs was probably one of the best hotdogs I've had in the city. The bun was lightly toasted, the sauce/peppers added a good amount of spicy without taking away from the flavors of the hotdog, and I always love opinions on a hot dog. Overall, this place was great! Had a chance to visit Trick Dog, a bar in the Mission and I have to say this is one of my favorite bars in SF. The parking here thankfully was nice to find, it was a little small so beware seating is a little hard to find, but there are alot of seats outside which is nice. Overall, ambiance is decent but typical Bar type. We didn't end up getting food but we ordered cocktails. For my Cocktail I got the Bonzo which was DELICIOUS! This was on the light and refreshing side with citrusy flavor and I absolutely loved this. The service here was also awesome and you could tell everything was made quickly and fresh. My friend ordered The Poochy which was also nice - the drink reminds me of a strawberry milkshake - so yummy but definitely on the sweeter side. My other friend ordered the Rumplepaws which was also nice - but this drink reminded me of a tiki bar drink which I don't like as much. It was definitely very spirit forward and you could taste the shochu in the aftertaste. I also dont usually go for whiskey based cocktails but overall super complex tasting and funky.
