The cocktail is batched and fat-washed with butter. It doesn't work. The texture is very thick/slimey from fat washing, and not is a good way. The flavor is janky; it does not taste like a negroni. It was still bad after letting the ice melt a little. They have a slushie machine, but the liquid and ice is badly separated in the machine. They need to add a 1/2 teaspoon of Xanthan gum to the batch it to prevent it from separating. read more

Love Casements!! It is our favorite bar in the mission to hangout and grab a drink (usually a Guinness). They have a indoor vibey bar and a fun backyard patio. It is always good vibes here. The spice bag is the tastiest of bar foods. I recommend getting the chicken added to it for some protein. It comes with a curry dipping sauce, which completes it. This Pub has probably one of the best ones I've been to yet. Service was amazing! Staff is very polite and really nice to talk to! The ambiance was really nice, lots of neon signage in the back patio, lots of open space in back. The music isn't too loud and you can enjoy your convos while jamming out. Food was really good! The Guinness was definitely my favorite. It's been a while since I've had it on tap. The spice bag was delicious and full of flavor! The indoor space is cozy and intimate, and they have a large back space (both covered and uncovered) for larger groups of people. We hung out at the back, there was plenty of room on a Friday night. Celebrated my friend's birthday here and she was smart to book us into their private outdoor cabana for the night (at least until their patio closed at midnight and we retreated inside). We loved our experience hanging out inside the cabana. Our server was attentive in getting our drink orders, and there is a great selection of spirits, beer, and wine to choose from for the night. The included seating as well sa table board games like Jenga really allowed us to feel comfortable and enjoy the celebrations. We decided to head over to Casements for a quick drink after chilling in Mission Dolores Park. While we were intrigued by what seemed like a cool ambiance and the allure of the back patio, we were nonplussed by the service as we walked in. While there was a couple drinking at the bar and a server running food out to the patio, neither the server nor the bartender greeted us as we stood waiting, even after the bartender looked up and saw us, and continued to chat with the couple at the bar. Having worked in food service, I understand when staff are busy, but it was off putting to not even be greeted and we were about to leave before we were finally greeted. I got the Pea's for Bee's cocktail while my partner got the Belfast Coffee. The back patio was definitely the star of the show, which had a really cool vibe and would be a great place to drink a beer and hang out. The drinks were not bad but did not particularly stand out. I've been here a couple of times fully unaware since I'm not really the gin and whiskey type. I also came late in the afternoon so I must have missed the dinner menu entirely. Upon her recommendation, I first tried the $14 Puck Fair, an unlikely mix of tarragon, mandarin, lemon, and Irish whiskey that was surprisingly mellow with a bit of sour (photo). I followed this with a discounted $5 Frozen Paloma (regularly $12). It was a tropical delight dominated by tequila bianco and cappelletti. I don't remember what this drink was called (peas and bees??) but it was mezcal and berries and citrus and came with an ice cube with a flower made of peas on it and when the ice started to melt you could eat the peas. Irish bar in Mission District that looks small. It's not, two indoor dining areas, bar, and backyard. The backyard has a snug and music. Gillian, met us at the door and gave us a tour. We chatted and did a shot of whiskey that was being featured that day by the maker. I had my first spice bag. It wasn't spicy at all but the peppers were there. It's large enough for two. TL;Dr - Casual bar with very good Irish pub food, and some warm hearted bartenders. Nuff said. Been here once for drinks and once with my wife for a quick dinner. It was years before I ever went in, it's fairly unassuming from the outside. Inside you got a bit of bohemian flair going on but it's a straight up pub for the most part. Drink wise I usually do pints but the cocktail menu is there and I'm sure it's decent. The main draw for me though is definitely the food, they are sitting on a really understatedly delicious food menu with some great items on there. Most folks will probably get the spice bag, and I've had them plenty of places, it's *ok*. Tbh they aren't that good even in Ireland, and since my grandmother was Irish only I can say that. Imo that French onion soup is decent, the guiness beef stew is even better. Not much on their menu that doesn't smack so you are hard pressed to find a bad meal. But we were able to find a table outside. They have both indoor and outdoor and you can sit where ever you find a table. Ordered a few cocktails - they were all good. Nice Irish bar located in the Mission. Went here last weekend to meet some friends. Got there early afternoon and we were immediately seated outside in the patio area. SF weather is great this time of year and was actually quite warm. Started off with an Irish coffee, which is one of my fave drinks. Had some typical appetizers such as the beer battered mushrooms and house ceviche, which was quite good. Once my friends came, had another Irish coffee and a Red Breast flight, which was really good. I read great reviews of Casements so we wanted to visit. It was pretty busy when we got there, not two people deep waiting for service but buzzing. There were 4 people working the bar (maybe one was a bar back). We waited at the bar and the bartenders never looked up once to acknowledge us (I think a sign of a good bartender). I wanted a gin martini and they didn't have my usual favorites so my date made a snap decisions. He told the bartender which were my favorites (Plymouth, Sipsmith, Harris, Bombay Saphire to name a few) and could he recommend a good gin. What I got was something undrinkable. Way too floral and it was like drinking aftershave. I could not drink any more than the first taste and waited for my date to finish his Guinness. Casements had a nice vibe walking in , and you could see the history in the age of the back bar behind the the bar and the photos and an old bust back there. Met friends who are semi-regulars for Saturday afternoon dranks & live music (started at 4pm). By the time I arrived, the sun had gone behind the building, but the back patio was still plenty warm, relatively secluded from any wind that was whipping outside. Friends mentioned the sun beating down was getting quite hot, but there were umbrellas at most tables & easy enough to seek shelter (it was low/mid-70s!) I'm a sucker for a slushee so ofc had to give the mojito slushee a try. And proceeded to have two more before it was time to wander to Valencia for din. Friends enjoyed a snack of shrimp crackers - other options on the menu are intriguing, I'll def be back to try more. One of my favorite casual bars in the city! I love the outdoor space. It's usually not too crowded but fairly lively. There are heaters on the patio. The cocktail selection is pretty limited and there's nothing too special IMO. I do get the cocktails here but I am definitely here more for the vibes than for the cocktails. I always get the peas for bees ($14) but it's pretty sweet. The hot toddy ($12) is a nice hot drink on a cold day. Prices are on the lower side of the spectrum. read more

I came here on a random Monday night and I am simply obsessed with this establishment. First of all, they are open until 2am on a Monday, which is wild but I love that because that's exactly what we needed on a random Monday night. We legit left minutes before closing and were solidly the only patrons there by the time we left as if we don't have with the next day (well I don't but my partner does lol) Second, the vibes are immaculate. The front area is awesome but somehow nothing compared to the outdoor area. Specifically, half of the outdoor is covered and other half isn't. There are heaters available. We found a lovely table in the covered area, got the heater turned on and had a blast eating and playing a board game till the patio closed at 10pm. While on the patio, we had our dinner. I ordered the mussels which were ABSOLUTELY RAVISHING OMG! Just simply amazing. Very garlicky which for me is my kryptonite. It came with garlic bread AND fries (steak style fries). Dipping the fries and bread in the sauce the mussels were soaked in was exceptional. My partner ordered the fish and chips; phenomenal fried fish with tartar sauce. There was some curry/gravy sauce for the fries that lowkey reminded me of the gravy for poutine; this one was slightly more curry-spice tasting but still amazing. To drink, I initially asked for Shirley temple, they didn't have grenadine so they decided to make some house made drink (lemon based) and it was amazing. Like exactly what I needed in my life right then. This drunk was true insight on how truly exceptional this place is because the cocktails / drinks they serve are unbelievable. I also had the old fashioned which was tasty, but not my favs (imo). At this point it's 10pm so we get moved to the indoor area. We somehow managed to find a table where we continued playing our game. At this point the disco ball is going, music is blasting and people are having a great time. I tried a few more drinks including the famed "Pea's for Bee's", not bad but not quite what I was in the mood for. Then late in the night, I tell my partner to surprise me with a drink. He tells the bartender what I like, which includes vodka and when I tell you this was one of the best drinks I've ever had, I mean that literally. She even told me I could come up with a name for it and then forgot it's an unnamed drink and I love it. Please reserve what the drink was and next time I come back I'm naming it! To be honest, it's the type of drink that crosses your mind on a a random weekday and the obsession is only satisfied once you are able to taste it. Basically from ambiance, to service, to food, to everything, this place has my heart. I can't wait to be back! Exceeded expectations! Relatively last minute we were looking for a space for 15-20 people on NYE (also my 50th birthday). Sent Casements a general email and Sean got back to us right away--warm, friendly, chill, responsive, booked us a spot from 5-8, sent pics ahead of time, was just awesome to deal with. Then Frank was our server and he was SO GREAT. Always there when we needed him, funny and easy going. Everyone had a blast, food was delish, cocktails lovely, service exceptional. Covered portion of the back patio was warm with heat lamps, and we didn't get soaked in the atmospheric river. It was just such a fun time, and such a relief. We visited the afternoon of 1/5. Unfortunately the fish and chips looked nothing like the menu photos. Rubbery batter, mushy, small, and a little too "formed" to be fresh. The fries were not thick cut. Disappointing. The Guinness was good but poured with an inch of foam every time by different bartenders. So that 16oz (if even that) became 14oz.
