They need to take one from the Pig & Whistle playbook when it comes to fish & chips (the chips were good, but the fish was really sad). Especially for an Irish bar. Cocktails are yummy, live music and patio are great. read more

Very nice outdoor back patio; it has an enclosed "snug shack". - 3/5: Belfast coffee $14. It uses poitin (Irish moonshine). It's not as good as an irish coffee. - 2/5: Roman Holiday Negroni $15. The cocktail is batched and fat-washed with butter. It doesn't work. The texture is very thick/slimey from fat washing, and not is a good way. The flavor is janky; it does not taste like a negroni. It was still bad after letting the ice melt a little. They have a slushie machine, but the liquid and ice is badly separated in the machine. They need to add a 1/2 teaspoon of Xanthan gum to the batch it to prevent it from separating. read more

Love Casements!! It is our favorite bar in the mission to hangout and grab a drink (usually a Guinness). They have a indoor vibey bar and a fun backyard patio. It is always good vibes here. The spice bag is the tastiest of bar foods. I recommend getting the chicken added to it for some protein. It comes with a curry dipping sauce, which completes it. Service is always amazing - the staff is consistent and super friendly. The best!! read more

Super eye candy with the bar tenders. Wonderful cocktails. Let them surprise you! Surprisingly limited draft beer selection (many IPAs plus obligatory Guinness) which tells you it's really about the cocktails at this Irish bar. I most recently had a Manhattan made with Irish whiskey. Which probably makes it a a Belfast. read more

I threw my partner a birthday party here and the staff went out of their way to make everything easy and fun. They were incredibly busy because of an event in the Mission and yet still checked in on our party and provided whatever we needed. In addition to their huge awesome patio, they have good food (not just good for a bar) and really good cocktails. They have free live music on the weekends. Always a good time. Highly recommended. I've never had a bad time here. Try the Spice Bag, so good! read more

Amazing service by Ken he was so great! It was so cozy in the back patio and dog friendly. Can't wait to come back.

This Pub has probably one of the best ones I've been to yet. Service was amazing! Staff is very polite and really nice to talk to! The ambiance was really nice, lots of neon signage in the back patio, lots of open space in back. The music isn't too loud and you can enjoy your convos while jamming out. Food was really good! The Guinness was definitely my favorite. It's been a while since I've had it on tap. The spice bag was delicious and full of flavor! The chips were crunchy outside and soft inside, the curry sauce was perfect, not even spicy. Very mild. The French onion soup was really flavorful and fulfilling! It had 3 slices of a baguette inside with the sautéed onions in broth and the cheese. Definitely will be back here again! read more

This is a fun spot with a lively atmosphere and a great place to unwind. The cocktail menu is definitely the highlight, with well-crafted drinks that are worth exploring if you're looking to try something different. The music adds to the experience and creates an enjoyable vibe throughout the evening. While the beer selection is a bit more limited than expected, the quality of the cocktails easily makes up for it. The overall experience was enjoyable, although the atmosphere could feel a little more welcoming at times. Still, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out and a place I'd happily visit again. read more

The best part of coming here is their back patio. It's beautiful and pretty big. Their food is pub food. Not a very extensive menu, but good. I recommend their chicken wings (with the sauce on the side). Drinks are crafted and super tasty. Overall, a very chill ambience for a Happy Hour sort of afternoon. read more

Casual bar with some really great (unexpected) cocktail options (and beer too of course). They also had a variety of food on their menu. The indoor space is cozy and intimate, and they have a large back space (both covered and uncovered) for larger groups of people. We hung out at the back, there was plenty of room on a Friday night. Service was excellent (didn't have to wait too long at the bar to place orders, they also do table service if everyone is on one tab). I tried one of their gin based cocktails which was excellent. Didn't order food but what people were having looked good. Would definitely come back. read more

Celebrated my friend's birthday here and she was smart to book us into their private outdoor cabana for the night (at least until their patio closed at midnight and we retreated inside). We loved our experience hanging out inside the cabana. Our server was attentive in getting our drink orders, and there is a great selection of spirits, beer, and wine to choose from for the night. The included seating as well sa table board games like Jenga really allowed us to feel comfortable and enjoy the celebrations. There are two single-stall gender inclusive bathrooms inside which is a win, but the long lines at night are never a fun time. read more

The place is cute, art, disco ball, craft cocktails and has a back outdoor chill area but you aren't allowed to smoke or vape there. The back closes at 11 while the main area is open later. We tried a couple random drinks, one was a slushy with a shot of champagne which was very tasty but we didn't realize it had Irish moonshine in it the other drink we tried was peas for Beas which was also pretty good and presented nicely with tiny peas on it. read more

One of my favorite back patios in the city! Their grilled cheese sandwiches+tomato soup's also a hit!

I rather like this atmospheric place but have to admit my ignorance of its identity as a modern take on an Irish pub. I've been here a couple of times fully unaware since I'm not really the gin and whiskey type. I also came late in the afternoon so I must have missed the dinner menu entirely. Appetizing options like Fish & Chips and Beef & Guinness Stew might lure me yet. In the meantime, I've enjoyed their craft cocktails. On my virginal visit, I was entranced by the mixology skills of the enthusiastic bartender Mo. Upon her recommendation, I first tried the $14 Puck Fair, an unlikely mix of tarragon, mandarin, lemon, and Irish whiskey that was surprisingly mellow with a bit of sour (photo). I followed this with a discounted $5 Frozen Paloma (regularly $12). It was a tropical delight dominated by tequila bianco and cappelletti. Also added were salted grapefruit cordial, and citrus (photo: https://yelp.to/L-TM8u_BHL). I had not been back for several months but returned today when I noticed mention of slushies on their sandwich board. I ordered the $12 Frose, a frozen rose slushie with a blood orange aperitif, rose wine, citrus, and a touch of rose water (photo: https://yelp.to/d1wn0gulpj). A nice summertime treat. Hmm, now how would this go with beef stew? We decided to head over to Casements for a quick drink after chilling in Mission Dolores Park. While we were intrigued by what seemed like a cool ambiance and the allure of the back patio, we were nonplussed by the service as we walked in. While there was a couple drinking at the bar and a server running food out to the patio, neither the server nor the bartender greeted us as we stood waiting, even after the bartender looked up and saw us, and continued to chat with the couple at the bar. Having worked in food service, I understand when staff are busy, but it was off putting to not even be greeted and we were about to leave before we were finally greeted. I got the Pea's for Bee's cocktail while my partner got the Belfast Coffee. The back patio was definitely the star of the show, which had a really cool vibe and would be a great place to drink a beer and hang out. The drinks were not bad but did not particularly stand out. That said, I would definitely come back here on a hot day to get a beer and hang out on the back patio. read more

Irish bar in Mission District that looks small. It's not, two indoor dining areas, bar, and backyard. The backyard has a snug and music. Gillian, met us at the door and gave us a tour. We chatted and did a shot of whiskey that was being featured that day by the maker. I had my first spice bag. It wasn't spicy at all but the peppers were there. It's large enough for two. Pretty good. We learned a lot about whiskey from Ireland. After, hanging out at the bar, went outside to enjoy the dJ's. This is great place to hangout. The staff is amazing and attentive. read more

Walked in on a Friday evening with 6 people to have some drinks for our friends birthday. It wasn't that busy, maybe because it was the day before Christmas and alot of people are out of town. But we were able to find a table outside. They have both indoor and outdoor and you can sit where ever you find a table. Ordered a few cocktails - they were all good. I don't remember what this drink was called (peas and bees??) but it was mezcal and berries and citrus and came with an ice cube with a flower made of peas on it and when the ice started to melt you could eat the peas. TL;Dr - Casual bar with very good Irish pub food, and some warm hearted bartenders. Nuff said. Been here once for drinks and once with my wife for a quick dinner. It was years before I ever went in, it's fairly unassuming from the outside. Inside you got a bit of bohemian flair going on but it's a straight up pub for the most part. Drink wise I usually do pints but the cocktail menu is there and I'm sure it's decent. The main draw for me though is definitely the food, they are sitting on a really understatedly delicious food menu with some great items on there. Most folks will probably get the spice bag, and I've had them plenty of places, it's *ok*. Tbh they aren't that good even in Ireland, and since my grandmother was Irish only I can say that. Imo that French onion soup is decent, the guiness beef stew is even better. Not much on their menu that doesn't smack so you are hard pressed to find a bad meal. Reminds me of how I used to love the pig and the whistle up on Geary before they went downhill. I'll definitely be back, my wife loved it and the bartenders were good specially friendly to us. Top marks. read more

Nice Irish bar located in the Mission. Went here last weekend to meet some friends. Got there early afternoon and we were immediately seated outside in the patio area. SF weather is great this time of year and was actually quite warm. Started off with an Irish coffee, which is one of my fave drinks. Had some typical appetizers such as the beer battered mushrooms and house ceviche, which was quite good. Once my friends came, had another Irish coffee and a Red Breast flight, which was really good. If you're into Irish whiskey, I recommend trying this particular flight. read more

Met friends who are semi-regulars for Saturday afternoon dranks & live music (started at 4pm). By the time I arrived, the sun had gone behind the building, but the back patio was still plenty warm, relatively secluded from any wind that was whipping outside. Friends mentioned the sun beating down was getting quite hot, but there were umbrellas at most tables & easy enough to seek shelter (it was low/mid-70s!) I'm a sucker for a slushee so ofc had to give the mojito slushee a try. And proceeded to have two more before it was time to wander to Valencia for din. Friends enjoyed a snack of shrimp crackers - other options on the menu are intriguing, I'll def be back to try more. It's funny to see Casements categorized as "Irish", but I now see their website includes "if Ireland had a beer garden in The Mission" and see all of the specific Irish distilleries & binders they feature on a different section of the menu I never looked at. read more

I read great reviews of Casements so we wanted to visit. It was pretty busy when we got there, not two people deep waiting for service but buzzing. There were 4 people working the bar (maybe one was a bar back). We waited at the bar and the bartenders never looked up once to acknowledge us (I think a sign of a good bartender). I wanted a gin martini and they didn't have my usual favorites so my date made a snap decisions. He told the bartender which were my favorites (Plymouth, Sipsmith, Harris, Bombay Saphire to name a few) and could he recommend a good gin. What I got was something undrinkable. Way too floral and it was like drinking aftershave. I could not drink any more than the first taste and waited for my date to finish his Guinness. I base my review on the mediocre service and the undrinkable martini. It could've been better. read more

We had reservations at Lazy Bear around the block from Casements on a rainy Tuesday afternoon, and decided to stop in for a drink. Good choice! Casements had a nice vibe walking in , and you could see the history in the age of the back bar behind the the bar and the photos and an old bust back there. The service was great and Claire was quick to greet us and made us some very tasty drinks. The menu had an Irish flair and so did Claire. The food that we seen go by smelled and look wonderful. I came here on a random Monday night and I am simply obsessed with this establishment. First of all, they are open until 2am on a Monday, which is wild but I love that because that's exactly what we needed on a random Monday night. We legit left minutes before closing and were solidly the only patrons there by the time we left as if we don't have with the next day (well I don't but my partner does lol) Second, the vibes are immaculate. The front area is awesome but somehow nothing compared to the outdoor area. Specifically, half of the outdoor is covered and other half isn't. There are heaters available. We found a lovely table in the covered area, got the heater turned on and had a blast eating and playing a board game till the patio closed at 10pm. While on the patio, we had our dinner. I ordered the mussels which were ABSOLUTELY RAVISHING OMG! Just simply amazing. Very garlicky which for me is my kryptonite. It came with garlic bread AND fries (steak style fries). Dipping the fries and bread in the sauce the mussels were soaked in was exceptional. My partner ordered the fish and chips; phenomenal fried fish with tartar sauce. There was some curry/gravy sauce for the fries that lowkey reminded me of the gravy for poutine; this one was slightly more curry-spice tasting but still amazing. To drink, I initially asked for Shirley temple, they didn't have grenadine so they decided to make some house made drink (lemon based) and it was amazing. Like exactly what I needed in my life right then. This drunk was true insight on how truly exceptional this place is because the cocktails / drinks they serve are unbelievable. I also had the old fashioned which was tasty, but not my favs (imo). At this point it's 10pm so we get moved to the indoor area. We somehow managed to find a table where we continued playing our game. At this point the disco ball is going, music is blasting and people are having a great time. I tried a few more drinks including the famed "Pea's for Bee's", not bad but not quite what I was in the mood for. Then late in the night, I tell my partner to surprise me with a drink. He tells the bartender what I like, which includes vodka and when I tell you this was one of the best drinks I've ever had, I mean that literally. She even told me I could come up with a name for it and then forgot it's an unnamed drink and I love it. Please reserve what the drink was and next time I come back I'm naming it! To be honest, it's the type of drink that crosses your mind on a a random weekday and the obsession is only satisfied once you are able to taste it. Basically from ambiance, to service, to food, to everything, this place has my heart. I can't wait to be back! Also to say that all the employees seem genuinely happy...because they adequate to be and I truly love that for them, and their patrons. Love you read more

One of my favorite casual bars in the city! I love the outdoor space. It's usually not too crowded but fairly lively. There are heaters on the patio. The cocktail selection is pretty limited and there's nothing too special IMO. I do get the cocktails here but I am definitely here more for the vibes than for the cocktails. Love the colorful ambiance and theme of the drinks menu. Flight themed menu with emphasis on Irish liquors. Drinks we tried weren't too sweet. My favorite was Peas for Bees. The flavors of the mixers hid the mezcal astringency while highlighting the smokiness. Very lively and busy on a Friday night but not rowdy.
