Chill sports bar with a really nice interior and, surprisingly, live music super late at night when we came by! Good for small groups. We ordered a few dishes to share as a late-night snack. Garlic fries were my favorite -- the garlic tasted so fresh and sharp, and the texture of the fries was perfect. Calamari was also solid. The Guinness pour was really impressive, and we took a second to admire how pretty it was LOL. I don't normally come to sports bars but thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Our waitress was super attentive and considerate, too. Highly recommend!

First time coming here as a local to the Parkside neighborhood. Right in front of the L bus stop so super convenient! We made it in time to enjoy a couple drinks and an appetizer for happy hour. I didn't get a picture of the garlic fries but they were the perfect crispiness! Not as garlicky as I would have liked but still good. I ordered the bangers and mash and it was very tasty. I wish there were just a little bit more green beans on the plate . My husband ordered the fried chicken sandwich which was delicious and a pretty good portion. I included a picture of the thickness of the chicken. It came with Mac and cheese which was a little lackluster. Not very flavorful and a bit dry on the top. Overall, we were happy with the food and service! Definitely coming here again. Cheers!

This is our first time back since it changed from Parkside Tavern to O'Brien's. We arrived at around 7:30pm on a Friday. There was a short wait (about 15-20 minutes) before we were seated. Both the host and waitress were friendly. Been craving chowder, so I was excited to see the seafood chowder on the menu. Ordered a bowl, and it was a good chowder - flavorful but maybe a bit pricey. We saw quite a few tables order the burger, so that's what hubs ordered. He noted it was a good burger and the fries were hot and crispy. Kiddo was hungry, so he ordered the fried chicken sandwich. He liked it and he was quite full. Comes with a side of mac n cheese - he said it was too cheesy, but hubs liked it. I decided to order the Cottage Pie - it may not seem like a lot but it was filling. There is quite a bit of potato - maybe would've liked a little more meat. Good flavor, overall. It was busy during our visit, but the waitress checked on us often. We were too full to try any of the desserts, but they looked interesting enough that I'll have to return to try some.

Mushy peas! O'Brien's Irish Pub has mushy peas with their fish & chips $22. Some people won't like them, but I do. It reminds me of my work trip to London years ago. They taste like regular peas but with a mashed potatoes texture with a hint of sweetness. Beautiful to look at. The fish & chips themselves were really good. Perfectly cooked, nice textured fish and a light crispy batter. The chips (fries) weren't soggy and were on the thin side. The seafood chowder $15 was delicious. It was creamy and served with bread. There were so many pieces of clams and fish in the soup. Service was excellent. The restaurant was about half full on a Wednesday night. It was more of an older crowd, you know, people with gray hair. It was nice to have cloth napkins while eating at a bar. That is rare. It felt upscale with the dark wood paneling. The only thing missing is the Irish accents. Dia dhuit!

O'Brien's has become another regular spot to go to off Taraval Street. It's a great spot for local Irish fun with a full menu, cocktails, sports on the televisions, as well as live Irish music on Sunday. You get a sense of old world Irish as you walk into the establishment with dark woods and a long bar down the side of the room. It's always lively with sports playing on the televisions through out the restaurant. More traditional seating is on the right side of O'Brien's where are you seated by a hostess or server when you walk in. Every time we arrive we head straight to the bar. Can you actually go to an Irish pub and not get a pint of Guinness? The answer is no, you can't . Along with this Irish stout, there is a full complement of beers, a vast wine selection and a whole lot of alcohol for your mixed drinks. The appetizers are typical "pub food" from chicken wings and fried calamari to garlic fries and potato skins with some other offerings thrown in. I've sampled the Cheese Chive Croquettes, fried croquette with potato, cheddar cheese, chives, panko bread crumbs, served with a chipotle ranch as well as Fried Calamari, rings and tentacles Sliced Lemon battered and fried with Tartar Sauce. However it's dinner we are usually there for, along with enjoying some drinks and relaxing. In the past I've started with the simple Wedge Salad followed by the Fish & Chips, the Fried Chicken Sandwich (this was huge!), Steak Frites or Chicken Curry. Every dish as been good. Quality presentation with each dish full of flavor. The chicken sando stands out, but you can never go wrong with fish & chips. On top of the great food and endless drinks, you can't beat the friendly staff and atmosphere of O'Brien's, as it feels like you local neighborhood hang out. Highly recommend a stop for an Irish good time.

Dropped by O'Brien's for a casual dinner and really enjoyed the experience. Classic Irish pub vibes, with friendly service and a great beer selection. I ordered the bangers and mash, and it hit the spot. The sausages were hearty and flavorful with a nice sear, and the mashed potatoes were tasty as well. Good portion size, left full.

It was a Wednesday night, but it was packed. Even the auxiliary dining room, where I was, was packed. This was a pleasant surprise that business is doing this well. I don't remember that happening when it was the Parkside Tavern. Back then, the auxiliary room was mostly empty, except maybe on Warriors playoff nights. I had that Bangers and Mash today. It was very flavorful and aromatic. The bangers were a little bit on the burnt side but the mashed potatoes topped with an irresistible, stout gravy more than made up for it. The service was slow getting the food to everyone because the kitchen was backed up with the crowd tonight. So we had to be more patient. But it was another good sign for them that business is doing so well. The servers themselves were great. A tag team of three were working together to make sure we were all taken care of.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon to watch the Clippers and GSW game and was surprised that it was not busier. Sat at the bar where Adrian was our bartender. Overall food was great and enjoyed the smash-burger but wish the bun was able to handle all the ingredients without having to fall apart near the end of my meal. Not pictured were the potato skins which hit the spot as a precursor to my meal. Solid 4 stars for my 2nd visit and was hoping to say "hi" to Rebecca who used to be a server at OJW.

Great place! I love the Irish stouts that they have on tap. Haven't tried much of the menu yet but the smash burger is great. Delicious crisp on the 2 patties, good sauce, bun so soft. Very yummy. Service is quick and friendly. Inside is very Irish bar and I like it. Want to try more of the menu. The Irish coffee is delicious as is the espresso martini.

I love the Irish...and their pubs! This pub was so great that on a visit to San Francisco, we went not only once but twice during the 48 hours we were in the Bay. Our first server, Juliana, was so delightful yesterday that we couldn't pass up the opportunity to return tonight and we had an equally enjoyable experience with our server, Theresa. First, I have to talk about the best beer I've had the joy of experiencing: Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale. I had vivid, miraculous dreams of this beer that called me back to this cozy, inviting pub. We paired this beer with their fried shrimp and parmesan fries which were both delicious. Juliana, an Italian through and through, made our Irish experience even better than we could have imagined. On our second night, in addition to the Kilkenny's, we had to order the shrimp once again, and the fried cauliflower (we wanted these the first night but despite our earnest attempts to have them appear, Juliana told us they were out of them :/ ) to start. They were both fantastic and were a great start before our fish and chips and fish tacos, both super fresh in their taste and flaky in their breading. And of course, once we saw the dessert menu, we had to order the bread pudding which did not disappoint. Our server, Theresa, was sharp, kind, shy but observant. She had the most delightful disposition and provided impeccable service. Both of our servers were true Irish Colleens (not knowing if their mothers were Irish or not). This neighborhood pub really has the spirit of warmth and community, nestled in the Outer Sunset/Parkside district, and its food, service, and inviting atmosphere make it a spot that I will definitely return to on my next visit up the coast. I'm not even sure if it's from the bathroom or terrible HVAC systems to filter out the air -- or if it was all the children running around and maybe they're farting and some kids have poop in their diapers??? I dont know - all I know is -- it stinks in 3/5 of the space and it's the side where the bathroom and arcade games are. Towards the bowling alley and back to the food and tables area it wasn't TOO bad. BUT - hey! It's a casino for kids and adults! Wow - the timewarp in here is real. But let's face it - that is the goal - no windows - no clocks - loud music - lots of blinking lights and sounds and claw machine prizes too cute to not try to get a prize! This place is a great way to kill time but also spend a lot of money... those claw machines are DANGEROUS - the cute stuffies and trinkets and boxes of figures - and now even the snacks! The staff are young, but they do what they can to assist and they aren't necessarily service with a smile - but more so doing what they gotta do to do the job and keep the job... The food is not restaurant quality at all, feels more like frozen bags of fries and frozen chicken nuggets that were baked and fried and served... So I've probably spent $200 in 3 visits and they were all just to play with those darn claw machines. SELF CONTROL is necessary when all the cute stuffies are present. I couldn't give a full five stars because it's overpriced - the gouge on the pockets - averaging almost $3 per claw attempt with the bigger stuffies and a bit under $3 for the more trinket sized ones. So this is a money pit for adults and kids. ALSO since the food is literally freezer type that's heated up and the poop stench ruminating the place - just doesn't make me wanna rave about coming here to spend all my hard earned cash. It's a great place to occasionally go and enjoy with friends - the thrill of getting the claw to close and getting the cute stuffies - an expensive billiard experience and an expensive bowl - but if it's not a group thing or a fun date with your kiddo - you're lookin at a lot of money thrown into these machines. This is pretty much where a kid would wanna go for their birthday... chuck-e-cheese or D&B vibes but a little more elevated with the bowling option, billiards options, and claw machines.
