Brunch at Outerlands is still solid. In fact, the only meal we've ever had at Outerlands is brunch. The smashed potatoes with salsa verde and aioli are a must order for us, and the brioche pecan sticky bun is so good. Their switch to counter ordering helps move the lines, but it also makes Outerlands feel more like a cafe than restaurant, but with a better menu. Baked goods are always good, but egg options are pretty limited for a brunch menu: just a breakfast sandwich and a rice congee with a soft egg added. (I'd personally love to see a few more egg options.) There is a chia bowl, a Dutch pancake, French toast, pastries, espresso drinks and more lunch-friendly options like salads, soup and sandwiches (including a mortadella sandwich.) Fog hangs over this neighborhood, and the beachy feel and friendly staff make it a cozy, casual brunch stop.

Been wanting to return for awhile and was a bit disappointed on Valentine's Day. Surprisingly, the line wasn't long and the system changed to picking a number sign from an unseated table, order and sit back where the sign was, which, for us, was at the counter. Right in front of us was a woman making drinks and was clearly overwhelmed with the orders. We were served our smoked salmon toast and focaccia sandwich, which my daughter said was overpowered by saltiness in the pesto. We finished our meals, plates were taken away, and our drinks still didn't arrive. First, we were given the wrong order and then it took a little more while for our hot ginger lemon tea and Sunset Fog. I sensed this place was understaffed by at least two people and the brunch menu has been downgraded. Still, this lively rustic spot is clearly filled with Sunday regulars!

Outerlands as a venue is amazing; I loved the woodwork and the whole natural vibe of the place! To top that off, the service was exemplary; our wait person was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and attentive; couldn't ask for anything more. I went specifically for the smash burger and it was great except it was more like a regular burger. I'm accustomed to having the crispy, frilly edges around a smash burger and this didn't have that. It was also a thicker burger than a "smash" burger. It was still a delicious burger, so I was okay with it. Everyone at the table except for one person ordered the burger, too, and they seemed to really enjoy it. It was pretty big, so many of us only ate half and took the other half home. One of the diners at my table ordered the broccolini for everyone to try. The wait person had said it was one of her favorite dishes and, I have to agree, it was fantastic! The only other issue I had was that they charged tax on the 5% service charge and the 5% SF Health Mandate, so I ended up paying $10 more than I should have paid. We were a large group and that little extra charge that the group members didn't pay ended up coming out of my own pocket. The tax should have been only on the food, not on the other stuff! I'll know next time!

This is a great spot for a date or a casual quiet meal in the neighborhood. The staff was extremely friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. The drinks are AMAZING! They have quite a unique selection of spirits and their bartenders are expert cocktail connoisseurs. I will be back soon and often.

Outerlands is a busy american food style place. What place in SF isn't ?!? Customer service is mediocre at best. Seating is chaotic, and feels like a struggle. Once seated, I opted for the daily/weekly "special" which is why I was there... the burger! Things I enjoyed. The cold ketchup. The fries weren't seasoned. Things that were a hot mess: The burger. Objects are smaller than they appear in photos. The patty was tasty, but it was really overdone, especially for a patty that was thin. The produce was okay. It's produce. The cheese pretty much ran across the burger. It's a pricey weekly "pop up" so to speak. The line is usually pretty long, and it's not fast moving.

Stopped by Outerlands for dinner. We ordered the bread to start, which was fantastic. Very soft and pillowy, and the butter was delicious and salty. Our waiter, who was very friendly, told us that some people just order a boule of bread to go. For my main, I got the roasted chicken. This was a bit disappointing, as the meat was a bit dry. For ~$35, I expected at least a juicy, tender bird. The salad it came with wasn't bad though. If I ever do come back, I will be ordering something else, as I can easily roast a better chicken at home. Overall, a cute local spot in the outer sunset. I'll be back for the bread, but might not dine in again, at least for a while.

Dutch pancake ($20) is so special and rare. It's poufy and airy inside and crunchy on the outside. The housemade ricotta is very mild and lacks a milky flavor, and not worth the extra $2. I asked for maple syrup on the side but they just gave it to me all together - which just made some bites sweet and soggy while the other bites were just bread. I wish the syrup came on the side by default. Little gem salad $24 - we got it for the smoked salmon, which was the best part! Not too salty. But protein portion is pretty small. Scrambled egg add on was delicious and soft. The bread that comes with it is so hard and inedible. Luckily we ordered house bread toast on the side which was much better. But it was still too burnt. But can't believe the toast and butter is both a separate charge each, like I wish there was more clarification while ordering or on the menu. Overall, while ordering at the front felt pretty rushed, not very helpful, and actually rude. So I'm not sure why there's a 10% service and health charge plus the default option to tip at 20% when everything is self serve. It just overall felt like an over hyped brunch experience.

Outerlands is a lovely oasis of fresh baked bread and homemade soup in the Sunset District. I booked dinner reservations here for my birthday and was warmly greeted with a glass of sparkling rosé. My server was so friendly and genuine and took excellent care of me! The walls and ceiling are made from weathered wood and all the food is local and organic. Chef Landa prepares delicious, hearty, and attractive appetizers, meals and desserts. I ordered the beans and greens: bone broth, cannellini beans, kale, and grana padano cheese, served with pain au levain.. it was so good! I also enjoyed a hibiscus margarita, which was beautiful and refreshing, and took home a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. Yum! Highly recommend making a reservation, especially for brunch, as this is a very popular neighborhood restaurant and fills up fast everyday of the week.

Walked in as two a bit after opening on a Friday with no wait. We shared the pain au levain. The butter was amazing and the bread came out steaming which was wonderful. Would prefer the bread to be cut into smaller pieces. The portions were generous which makes the price fair. Especially the roast chicken, it could easily serve two. Chicken was well-cooked and the radicchio salad covered the rest of the plate. The pork chop was delicious and moist, however one section by the bone was a bit questionably rare visually that I avoided. The potato and veggie sides were great. String theory cocktail was good, but not for my personal taste. I'm a fan of the location and the vibes of this spot are perfection. Definitely want to come back to try their brunch at some point!

We came on a Saturday for brunch, and surprisingly only waited about 10 minutes for a table on their patio. Once your table is ready, they ask what you'd like to order before seating you. I was surprised as we were not told this, and had not looked at the menu, but no biggie. Luckily the menu is not large, so we took a couple minutes to decide. It was just a bit awkward since they stared and waited We ordered the salmon toast, breakfast sandwich and Dutch pancake. The pancake was delicious and the berries were sweet. The salmon toast was great as well, but could use a few more slices of salmon. The breakfast sandwich was a bit small, and would be more filling if it had a sausage patty or few strips of bacon. However, the buns were so soft and fluffy so that made up for it! Overall a great brunch on a sunny day in the city! I would suggest that when they take your name down to wait for a table, that you look over the menu and decide what you want so you are ready when they call your name. There is also free street parking in the neighborhood.

Hamburger. overcooked. well done.. shows a lack of trust with their supplier to cook it so long. fries were hollow. not flavorful.

Ordered their broccolini, hamburger, french fries, chicken broth and closed with bread pudding. Broccolini was the star.. Hamburger was not bad, but cooked well done.. which shows a lack of confidence in their beef supplier.. if they can't at least do medium rare.. shows they don't think their meat is bacteria free. Fries were crispy.. but hollow.. not flavorful. Chicken Broth was good, but let it cool a bit... so hot it feels microwaved. Their closer, bread pudding was dry and hard.. not enough something.. I know San Francisco allows restaurants to serve from trash cans.. maybe that was this. disgusting.

It was good the first time we went but after that, I ordered it to go. First time the steak was very small portioned and I thought it might be a fluke. So I tried it again but it was the same. Unfortunately not coming here again because the price is quite hefty to get 5 pieces of steak. The only reason it looked full is because I paid for an extra egg. It been a while since I last ordered and I contemplated reviewing it since in person it was so good but I can't keep it back. Quite disappointed how they treat people who dine in vs ordering out. Unfortunate that it's so close and I thought I found a place I could come often. Might try it again in person and ordering out since it is very delicious to see if it was a fluke again. Very sad.

A group of five of us went to dinner and we ordered almost every vegetarian dish on the menu. The olives (which came out juicy and warm), the trio of dips and the flatbread (that melted us all), that charred lettuce with a rich nutty dressing, the burrata with kiwis, oh and oh, that cauliflower. Be still, my beating heart. That food, which clearly was meant for gods and accidentally made it to our table. The shakshouka and the couscous entrees following closely behind in rich glory with that delectable cornbread that showed up straight from the oven. I am not exaggerating, dear reader, each bite of food was a gastronomic delight. We wrapped the evening with a date cake that came topped with a rich vanilla ice cream and toasted pecans and the subtle competition of the warm cake and the cold ice cream on our palates made for a perfect culmination to our dinner. Even before this most recent visit, I'd enjoyed intimate dinners here for its creative, Korean-Thai-inspired menu that always packed an impressive punch of flavor but, dare I say, the brunch might be even better. The steak sandwich was absolutely phenomenal, with the steak seasoned and cooked to perfection and pairing beautifully with the charred onion aioli, plus a side of expertly crisped smashed potatoes that were so addicting. The steamed mussels were sumptuous and packed with umami, and I loved the two large bricks of toasted sourdough focaccia that were perfect for sopping up every last bit of the delicious dashi broth. But the pièce de résistance was the custard French toast, which I can only describe as the love child of bread pudding and tres leches cake as it was crispy on the outside but uber moist on the inside, custardy, and simply divine. Kothai will be deeply missed in the neighborhood, but I'm excited to see what's next for chef/owner Sung Park and will be first in line for whatever future project comes next.

The couple cooking and server were very friendly and it felt like we were at their home and they were serving us a meal. They said they initially did pop ups and served meals in their home and then branched out to open up their own restaurant. Appetizer courses were light and each dish actually had some incorporation of the ramen dish in it whether it was the tare, oil, or noodles. Highlights of the meal: the chilled ramen dish with yuzu broth was absolutely amazing! There was Hokkaido uni and prawns which paired really well with the ramen and broth. I could've eaten an entire bowl of this and entire tray of uni haha The chawanmushi was amazing with real crab shredded and pieces of Hokkaido scallop. This appetizer dish was also very delicious and a definite must try For the ramen dish: the chef said he has been trying a new ramen dish. This one is fish dashi broth but also has 30% oxtail broth mixed in. It is topped with A5 Wagyu that is sous vide and seared at the end and oh my melted like butter in my mouth. I loved the broth that had miso and a spicy gochujang sauce that made the spicy miso broth delicious. Dessert was light and refreshing and yoko made her specialty pastry with a dog imprinted on it to depict their toy poodle Toto who helped inspire their restaurant journey but passed a couple years ago. Overall, such a wonderful experience and really felt like home cooked family meal with delicious food. I would definitely recommend this place if you are lucky enough to get a reservation
