One of my favorite spots in the city for pizza! The pies are thin and perfectly charred and crispy. We came on a weekday and was able to snag a spot at the community table without waiting. We did a glass of White House wine and a glass of syrah. Both were delicious, the house wine was refreshing and not too tart while the Syrah wasn't overly dry. We visited Damn Fine around 3pm on a Friday, and the restaurant was nearly empty with only one other party inside. We ordered the pepperoni pizza, classic meatballs, and Caesar salad. Everything we tried was delicious. The pepperoni pizza had a thin crust, but it didn't have much structural integrity, so you definitely have to fold it in half to eat it. I enjoy a thin crust, but I usually prefer one with a crispier bottom. That said, the pizza was still really tasty. We ordered a side of ranch and hot honey, and both sauces paired really well with the salty pepperoni. This place officially made me a believer in hot honey. The Caesar salad was crisp and refreshing. I really enjoyed the panko croutons, and the anchovies added a nice savory flavor without being overly fishy. The meatballs were probably my favorite dish of the meal. They were flavorful and tender, although slightly salty. The bread served alongside was perfectly toasted and great for soaking up the sauce. Honestly really happy with my experience at DamnFine pizza. Came with a reservation on a weekend for lunch, and service was great. Crowded so a reservation is clutch. Having been to Flour+Water pizza and other places in the city, I actually thought DamnFine surpassed the others. We ordered two cocktails, a caesar salad, and two pizzas. damnfine spritz was only ok, would get others. The pear cocktail was solid, not too sweet and good flavors. Caesar salad was good. Fresh and crispy veggies + good flavors with the squeeze of lemon The pizza was very good. We got the lil smokey and the acapulco pizzas. We really liked the dough, it had a nice bounce and chewiness despite being light and on the softer sider without being undercooked. Really set the pizza apart from others we've had. Toppings were also very flavorful. Loved the pickled onions and pineapple on the acapulco with contrasting flavor notes. Lil smokey had nice depth to flavor. They're known for their thin pizza! Dined at DamnFine Pizza with 6 others and I shared the margharita pizza and a Caesar salad with another person while most people ordered their own pizza. We had a variety of pizzas and sides at the table and gave each other tastes. The margharita was good, but I prefer my crust to be a bit crispier; probably could have ordered it on the crispier side, but didn't think to do so. The Caesar salad was huge and we had enough to share with the others at the table. Someone else ordered the fried calamari for the table and that was delicious; not oily and very crispy! The wood-fired carrots were good, too. This is definitely a place where you need to share. The Caesar salad ($16?) was too big for just two people; I would've prefered a smaller portion with a less expensive price. The pizzas are made for at least 2 people with each person getting 3 good sized slices. None of the side dishes (salads, appetizers, etc.) are small (or inexpensive enough) to try if you don't dine with a group. The person who had the wood-fired carrots shared it and still had lots to take home. The others who ordered whole pizzas each took home at least half of their pizza. Pizza ran from $20 to around $28(?). I don't know why, but I didn't get a picture of the pizza menu! The service was great, friendly and efficient. Came to DAMNFiNE after parents saw it on YouTube and wanted to try it - they are so hip. We shared a pie, a pasta, and a salad which was perfect for 3. The chicory salad came first and honestly this was my favorite dish. The chicory was crisp and its bitterness was cut by both the acidity and sweetness of the blood oranges and the creaminess of the goat cheese. The sprinkles of fresh fennel and pistachio were also really nice. For the pasta, we went with the papardelle with beef ragu. It was rich with a deep tomato and beefy flavor, but the noodles kind of stuck together. For pizza? We went with the lil smoky which had sausage, broccolini, Calabrian chilis, and smoked mozzarella. The combination? Excellent. The texture of the crust? Satisfyingly crisp yet chewy. BUT. The bottom? Burnt. I didn't notice the burnt flavor on one side of the pie but on the other? Definitely a little off putting. Nearby tables also featured pies of the same bottom so idk if it was too hot today or this is their style. Damn Fine once again lives up to their name as we ordered four different pizzas and all four lived up being so very "Damn Fine." We sat at the long communal table behind the host stand as were a party of seven on Memorial Day arriving at 4:30 pm. I was skeptical about sitting there as my back faced the door and in the past it can pretty "damn" cold if you are in a seat where the cold breeze travels through on a foggy or overcast day. An hour to get two pizzas at 3 PM should have been the warning sign. When the pizzas finally arrived, they managed the remarkable feat of being burnt and undercooked at the same time. The crust was charred on the outside, while the dough underneath was still raw. The vegetables had released so much water that the center collapsed into a soggy puddle. It looked less like pizza and more like a kitchen mistake that should never have left the oven. What happened next was even worse. Instead of an apology, the waiter launched into a series of excuses. I was told that this was a "new style." Burnt pizza is not a style. I was told, "we make it in an oven." That much was painfully obvious. Then I was told to "talk to the owner." No customer should have to hunt down the owner to explain why serving raw dough after a one-hour wait is unacceptable. Mistakes happen. Any restaurant can have an off day. What separates a good restaurant from a bad one is how it responds when something goes wrong. Here, there was no accountability, no concern, and no attempt to make things right. The waiter seemed more interested in defending the indefensible than addressing the problem. After waiting an hour for two pizzas, being served food that was simultaneously burnt, soggy, and undercooked, and then being met with excuses instead of service, it's hard to imagine a more disappointing dining experience. She seemed annoyed at something, barely spoke to us, never came back to check how our food was and took forever to bring us the check and a to go box because she was chatting with a couple a few tables down for a good 10 minutes. I have never tipped anyone less than 20% and well there is a first time for everything. The salads here are usually so good but our caesar was waaaaaay too fishy. My pizza was burned and came out a good 10 minutes after my kids' pizza. We shared the Figgy Piggy: Fig and prosciutto pizza with gorgonzola and Pig in the Woods pizza: Pancetta and mushrooms w/truffle oil which was a lot of food for 2 people but loved how chewy the crust is without being too heavy and the pizza toppings were nicely balanced. Was for some reason super craving some pizza, so came in on a Friday night. It's only street parking around which can get a bit difficult but we managed. My friend and I were greeted and sat immediately and the inside is warm and cozy. I love that you can see everyone making the pizza, and the service was super cheery and warm. We ordered the calamari to share and the lil Smokey pizza. The calamari was super flavorful, had a good crunch, and the sauce was fire. Pizza hit my craving pretty spot on. What a hidden gem! This is the perfect date night spot, which is a rare and welcome find in the Outer Sunset. I made a reservation for 6:30 PM on a Thursday with my boyfriend, and we were seated in their backside patio, which was nicely decorated and equipped with effective hanging heaters. The service was very nice, and our server offered great recommendations. We ordered the recommended Tomato + Burrata Panzanella, as tomatoes are about to go out of season. Here's what I got; -Stone Fruit Summer Pizza 5/5: Sweet, Salty, Cheesey Goey Goodness with some Savory bites from the Onions compliment each other so perfectly! It's like if a charcuterie board was on a pizza, also a vegetarian friendly option! -Crab Ravioli 2/5: I wanted to really like this, the crab was super fresh and delicious but the sauce they used was TOOO zesty, it was like eating a sour candy with your pasta in every bite. I think a simple caramelized onion & butter sauce would pair perfectly instead to reinforce the use of corn... Very disappointing since I saw so many good reviews. I came on a Saturday maybe 2 weeks ago. My husband and I wanted to take my dad out for a birthday lunch. However, food was very disappointing. We were the second table to be seated outside and we ordered before the third table came. We didn't get our pizzas until the first, third and fourth table had their food and pizzas. We ordered a salad and pasta to share as well but we just sat there for the longest time for the pizzas. How can it get worse? One of the pizzas was so burnt! This is such a crowd pleaser, and worth the wait! We went in a group of 3 on a Thursday evening, and it was quite crowded so recommend making a reservation ahead. We were seated within 30 min, so just the right amount of time to grab a marg nextdoor too if you so choose! The pizza here is one of the best in the city -- The tomato sauce is perfect, not too acidic as tomato sauces can often be. The dough is thin and crispy at the crust while a little on the softer side in the middle; I will say I am more partial to a crispy slice all the way through, but this is just so good that I don't mind a little softer center. This is also topping dependent as the pepperoni pizza is a little more crispy, while the "alotta burrata" and "funghi" are less so. Topping wise, their pepperoni and fennel sausage are especially delicious -- The sausage and sage pizza is divine, with the caramelized onion balancing the fennel sausage so nicely! I enjoyed the burrata as well, though would stick to the meat forward pizzas next time. Also appreciate how they have hot honey as a side order -- the hot honey is a MUST with the pepperoni pizza; the sweet and savory balance each other so very nicely. I am giving 4 stars mainly because of how much I unfortunately disliked the clam linguine -- The linguine was a bit too thin for my liking, and while I appreciate that it was fresh made, I would have liked more of a bite that makes fresh pasta so good. As well, the sauce had a very unusual flavor -- I was expecting a classic white wine, garlic butter and parsley situation and found myself with a very bland, artichoke¿ tasting garlic and clam pasta. Cannot believe it took me this long to get to DamnFine! Easy online reservations- indoor and outdoor seating. Cocktails, wine, mocktails... a little of everything for everyone. We started with fried green tomatoes, cauliflower, and strawberry salad. All tasty but not crave worthy. Now the pizzas were absolutely perfect! I loveeeee a sourdough crust and this did not disappoint. The fennel sausage was my favorite, and we also had a standard margherita, potato pesto and a mushroom with added sausage. My friends decided to do a little meet up here for lunch. They have outdoor seating, indoor and a patio in the back. We did the back , as we had a new born with us and we wanted some fresh air but also stay warm, it is after all , summer in San Francisco. The hostess Jessie was super nice. I would say this a great place for large friend gatherings. I saw the elusive fried green tomatoes! I normally see this in the east coast and I was super enthusiastic to see this in the menu! We got the fried green tomatoes to start our with along with two pizzas. The fried green tomatoes only has three pieces , but it was made perfectly. It was so delicious! However, for the cost, for three pieces it was almost the same as ordering a pizza. Once I have win the lottery, I'll get this and I won't share. As for our pizza orders we got the Stone Fruit Summer and the Pig in the Woods. The Stone Fruit Summer is a must as it really did have the summer taste. It consist of nectarine, red onion, garlic oil, gorgonzola, mozzarella, provolone and hot honey. I think the ingredient that made this pizza stand out was definitely the nectarines. It was juicy and was the perfect touch for this pizza. The pig in the woods ha pancetta, mushrooms, basil and truffle oil. This was good but a little bit on the saltier side. I probably won't eat this after the sweeter pizza. Maybe I should've eaten this first. We also ended up getting a margherita pizza without the basil and the kids liked that one too.
