Ordered 4 pizzas to go on a Saturday night. The restaurant itself was packed at 5:30pm. The line was out the door. I believe this is the second location? First one opened in Berkeley if I'm not mistaken. The dough itself was pretty solid. Usually I eat everything except for the crust because it can get too filling. But I thought the crust was actually edible. The pizzas weren't too burnt compared to other oven pizzas I've had. margherita - decent -3.5/5 pepp & basil - 3.8/5 old faithful - pork sauce-4.2/5 champion - mushroom white sauce -4.2/5 Would like to come back when the line dies down and we can walk in to grab a table.

Beach Club without Jalapenos

This place has very unique and distinct pizzas. We ordered five pizzas for take-out: The Cheese, Margherita, Green Deluxe, Louie-Louie, and The Beach Club. They all were very good. Each has its own distinct flavor, which makes sense because they are different; however some restaurants use the same "base" and then just put on different toppings, and the flavor profile generally remains the same. Not here, expect totally unique flavor profiles. The combined toppings went well with each other. The Green Deluxe (broccoli rabe, mozzarella, confit garlic, cream and lemon) was especially tasty, and the Margherita had a great deal of basil flavor. The crust was great - firm and crisp on the outside and chewy inside. The pizza is cut into 6 generous slices. I'd like to return to try some of the other ones. This is a casual restaurant with indoor and sidewalk seating. At this time, to get pizza to go, you place your order at the register and wait about 15 minutes. There's not much space to wait inside so we waited outside. The staff member nicely brought them out to us when they were ready.

No ifs or buts, the pizza here is SUPER good. Rose already had hype before opening the Clement location and somehow it still exceeded expectations for me. The crust is exactly what I want from this style of pizza. Thin, airy, crispy edges, but still enough chew that it feels satisfying and not like a cracker pretending to be dinner. We got the Old Faithful and the Pepp & Basil. The Old Faithful was awesome and tasted really different from a lot of sausage pizzas around the city. Super flavorful fennel sausage, vinegary peppers, red onion, just a really good balance where every bite keeps you interested. The Pepp & Basil was shockingly good. I'm a huge pepperoni pizza person and this is def one of the best pepperoni pizzas I've had in SF. The pepperoni gets those crispy little edges, the basil keeps it fresh, and the whole thing disappears concerningly fast. We also got the spicy Caesar. Slightly overdressed for my personal taste but still delicious. You can tell the dressing is homemade and not some sad Sysco Caesar situation. The space itself is cute and lively without trying too hard. Definitely try to get a reservation ahead of time if you can because waits can get long, especially now that it's new. You can attempt a walk-in if you believe in yourself. Very worth the hype. I'll absolutely be back.

Pale, underdeveloped undercarriage with wet spots. =(

Power bottom. Err, I mean weak bottom. I was excited to try Rose Pizzeria with all the national and industry recognition for their first location in Berkeley (opened in 2021) including: - One of "22 Best Pizzerias in the U.S." by The New York Times. - Number 17 on "The Chronicle's Top 100 Restaurants" - "10 Must-Visit Pizzerias in the U.S." by Food & Wine. - Top 5 in "World's Best Cheese Pizza Slice" at International Pizza Expo Vegas. - Ranking in the "50 Top Pizza" by an Italy-based guide. IMO, UPN is the goat and they aren't even on all these lists so Rose Pizzeria has to be bomb right? Until the newness wears off, expect a very long wait for walk-ins for their second location in the city. Def plan ahead and make rezzies on Resy (booked for the next few weeks). Takeout is available but in-person orders only. No phone line. Online orders to come. First try, the hostess said, there was 50 people waitlist (weeknight) so we left. The next day, I returned solo for a late weekday lunch and there was no wait for an outdoor table. M E N U Limited menu (different than online): Three starters, three salads, six red pizzas, and three white pizzas. Pizzas are thin crust "west coast style"; whole pizza only (no slices). Tonda Romano - thin, crispy Roman-style pizza not available yet. Beer and wine to come. F O O D * Pepp & Basil: Ezzo pepperoni, mozzarella, tomato sauce, pecorino, fresh basil, sicilian oregano (14", 6 slices-$24) It's only week two so there's obvs kinks to work out. The biggest issue was the weak bottom, the undercarriage came out pale and underdeveloped with wet, soggy spots. The exterior crust had chew but was quite bland and it could've benefited from more blistering for texture and flavor. The toppings were tasty...I mean it's hard to go wrong with melty cheese, bright tomato sauce, and ezzo cupped pepperoni with crispy edges. Ezzo's pepperoni adds little bursts of salty, slightly smoky fat with each bite. It's not a greasy salt bomb like massed produced ones. I took it home and warmed it up in a cast iron pan to get some browning on the bottom. It was better but not great. If you like it a little spicy, get the East Bay Green Sauce ($3)...it's fresh and herbaceous with a warming heat. Reminds me of zhug, Yemeni hot sauce. S E R V I C E Unfortunately, I had an unpleasant encounter with the hostess/server the night before. Maybe she was having a bad day but she came off as unwelcoming, rude, and dismissive when turning away customers for dine-in and takeout. The next day, a senior couple thought it was fast-casual so they ordered, paid, and sat behind me. When their pizza arrived boxed up, they mentioned they were dining in. The female server's tone was curt and she could have at least offered them plates. On a positive note, the young, blonde male server was very friendly, kind, and upbeat. Service may be smoother indoors as outdoor tables had to flag someone down inside to order and/or ask for the bill. After the lunch rush, the pizza took 20 minutes to arrive. A M B I A N C E Casual, rustic charm with lively indoor dining room with an open kitchen. There's about 8-10 tables with counter seating and a handful of sidewalk tables (no umbrellas or heaters). Overall, I'm obvs an outlier but I'm not understanding the hype. I thought the pizza was pretty good after browning the bottom but not remarkable. They're new tho so it may be just kinks. Will give them another try in several months and hope to have a better experience then.

Friendly service! Rose Pizzeria has my favorite tiramisu - creamy with many flavor components and a portion that serves two. We also enjoyed the Spicy Caesar salad heavily dressed with a bold heat; I will ask for dressing on the side next time. The She Wolf pizza is light and fresh with dollops of creamy burrata. walk-in seating is easy mid-week at opening time 11:30am. by noon, every seat was filled, reservations recommended. I eagerly await the Tonda Romana pizza - thin and crisp - not yet offered here.

Came at 7pm, prime dinner hour, on a Friday and all tables were taken (as to be expected). Looking at their online reservation system, they're booked out for the week for indoor dining so we ordered takeout. FYI there's no online ordering system (yet) and no phone orders, so you'll have to line up and order for takeout in person. There was no line for takeout so we quickly ordered only to find out that there would be a ~45 minute wait. I asked if they do half and half pizzas (two flavors on one pizza) and they said not yet but they'll most likely roll it out in the future since they just opened. So what do we do when we're torn between two flavors? Order both! Louie-Louie - a white sauce pizza, so cheesy and the sausage was sooo good! My favorite of the two because I love cheesy savory things. Old Faithful - I mistakenly thought this was going to be a classic combo pizza but I had clearly misread the description! I wasn't mad at it though because the goat horn peppers were the best part! Sweet and spicy, it packed some good heat! I'm typically not a fan of sweetness in my savory food, but this was worth trying. You can't review pizza without mentioning the most important part - the crust! I enjoy a thin, NY style crust so their west coast style pizzas (thin and airy) were up my alley. Don't you hate that feeling when you lift a pizza slice and the tip is just soggy with the toppings about to slide off? Well, there was NONE of that here. The strong, yet thin undercarriage was exactly what I looked for in a crust. You lift up the pizza slice and everything holds up. NO SOGGYBOTTOMS! I saw a lot of the indoor diners order the caesar and it looked so good, I'll have to try next time along with their other more classic pizza flavors! I wish I looked over the menu more thoroughly because had I known a green sauce existed I would've ordered it in a heartbeat. Coming from the east bay, I'm a green sauce FIEND and need it on all my pizza! Welcome to the neighborhood, Rose!

Half cheese half sausage

Phenomenal pizza, simple and well executed. Bright delicious tomato sauce, GOOD quality cheese (doesn't get all rubbery), and great crust. Undercarriage is thinner but still provides great texture and mouthfeel. Crust is bubbly and charred, also chewy inside. Sausage is great, not too salty. Overall just a great pizza. Staff was really friendly and upbeat too. Cute decorations as well.

Didn't take me long to get seated (because it's a Tuesday) This places is always very busy . Great room with bar seating/booths and tables also there is outdoor seating. I got "The Champion" (Roasted mushrooms, mozzarella, pecorino, cream and leeks- This is a white sauce pizza . The crust is light airy and delicious. It's a 14 inch pizza 6 slice. Very delicious and generous with the ingredients. The server was super friendly and efficient. The salads are gigantic. I highly recommend this place .

Big Green

There were empty tables so not sure why it took that long to seat customers. Finally got seated but couldn't get anyone to take our orders. Ordered big green salad, Pepp and Basil, and Margherita pizzas. The salad was fresh but lacked flavors in the dressing and hardly any asparagus. The pizzas were good and tasty but a tad hard on the crust. Unfortunately it took awhile again to flag someone to get the bill.

Came here on a fluke really and the universe. If there was parking , then we will stay. Annnnnd we stayed. Came here on a Sunday around 3pm and it was already busy. There was indoor dining and a couple tables outside. I consider us fairly lucky because when we checked in with a hostess all indoor tables were either occupied of reserved, we waited like 10 minutes and she was able to seat us outside. The weather permitted us to enjoy our lunch outdoors. I what's so delighted that the menu was super simple. Made it so much more easier for my party of 4 to order. We ordered two pizzas and a salad to share for the table. Let's just say that for a total of 12 slices (each pizza had 6 slices), only two made out in a to-go box. The hostess and the server were accommodating. Everything we ordered was delicious. We'll definitely be back when in the area.

There are a few things in San Francisco which has been long awaited to open. There is the Canes Chicken at Fisherman's Wharf along with then Everett and Jones BBQ . Then there is the return of Jolibees to San Francisco on Market street and Cinderella Bakery in the Mission District. Although there are not open yet one place which was on my long awaited list of openings is now open for business and it was worth the wait . It's located on 1 Clement and it's called Rose Pizzeria . On a Spring stroll in San Francisco pizza is have a resurgence with the relaunching Bravos Pizza having their ribbon cutting ceremony this past weekend. Now this week it's the opening of Rose Pizzeria on Clement street in San Francisco has put it on the map for best city for pizza by the Pacific Ocean and top cities to get pizza not only in America but the world. Inside it's a spanking new pizza place with lots vintage and modern decor which made it electric. On the pizza menu in SF there is the She Wolf and the Champion. Since I had the mushrooms at my sneak preview with the purple onions I decided to try the pizza called Cheese. The pizza was delicious as I added some pepperoni and it was so juicy and savory. The pizza was a bit cheesy like some in SF but the cheese pull was just right and as I expected. The pizza tasted amazing while washing it down with Pinot Noir for Don Juan Pinot Noir. Must go pizza place when in San Francisco. This pizzeria is highly "anticipated "and long "awaited " and it's the spot where the pizza gets freshly baked and the fresh cheese gets "grated "and after taking a taste of it I highly "rate it " New pizza places in San Francisco and the excitement "grows"about organic flavors and ingredients from the cheese to the tomatoes for the sauce and their pizza "doughs" when it comes to pizza Don Juan "knows "that this place is it and the pizzeria is now opened in San Francisco and it's called" Rose"

Pepp and basil, she wolf, Champion, Louie Louie
Katy C.

Review based on take out. We ordered pepp and basil, she wolf, champion, and Louie Louie. Each pizza was so good we couldn't decide how to rank them but it was unanimous that there wasn't a pizza we didn't like. They definitely did not skimp on the amount of mushrooms on the champion. I'm usually a white or bbq sauce girly for pizza but the red sauce on the pepp and basil and she wolf was SO GOOD. Do not sleep on the green sauce. It went great with all the pizza. Will definitely want to try sit down next time.

PEPP & BASIL

I've been excited to try this place because I've seen it being built from the ground up. There were 6 of us in our group and the wait was an hour and a half with only seating outside because we didn't have a reservation. Not gonna lie, the host was pretty grumpy. I understand it is a busy establishment and maybe she was just having a bad day, but for a FOH it just didn't feel welcoming. We were also being very polite and she rolled her eyes when we said we didn't have a reservation. Edit: Just reading the rest of the reviews and it's crazy that everyone is having a bad experience with the service. The food didn't take too long after ordering. Me and my girlfriend ordered the pepp and basil. I give it a 7.5 without the ranch and an 8 with the ranch. The crust tasted a bit burnt and it just tasted salty. It was good but there wasn't anything special about it (sorry). I'm glad we tried it, and I recommend for everyone else to try it as well! My preference for pizza could be different than yours :)

The entire pizza had shifted in the box, slices were folded over, grease was splattered all over the lid, and it was no longer hot by the time it arrived. What made this even more frustrating was the amount paid for delivery. In addition to the food cost, I paid a $3.99 delivery fee, a $5.70 service fee, and tipped the driver $5.50. For that kind of added cost, I think it's reasonable to expect the pizza to arrive level, intact, and hot. The restaurant is about 4 miles from my house, and it appeared the delivery was made by bicycle, which may explain why the pizza ended up tilted and damaged during transport. I can't say that for certain, but something clearly went wrong between the restaurant and my door. The pizza itself may have been good fresh out of the oven, but the delivery experience completely ruined it.
