Loved this place. This place was on my list for a while, but when I watched the recent Bon Appétit YouTube video, I really wanted to try it. Made reservations a week in advance for a Tuesday night. Interesting to have reservations ob door dash, but whatever, it worked. Hostess was very nice and seated us right away. Place was packed on a Tuesday night. We ordered the Marone and Spicy Ronnie. The pizza here is very crispy and done. Not your typical pizza done. This is more of my style when it is charred on the bottom. One of my favorite pizza places in the city.

My friend wanted to try Jules after seeing them on the NY Times restaurant recommendation list. Four of us came here for Saturday dinner right when they opened (we had no reservations and there were several people in line right before 5 pm). We shared the charred cabbage, heirloom tomatos and salmon toast for appetizers. For pizzas, we chose the field dream (corn, mozzarella, tomatoes), fun guy (lots of mushrooms) and the satriale special (gochujang sauce, Italian sausage). For dessert, we shared the blueberry bay leaf ice cream and made it a pizookie. Everything was great. I love mushroom pizzas so the fun guy was my favorite. I also really loved the crust on their pizzas. Food-wise, this is definitely 5 stars. Service was also good. We were seated at the community table and that was good. The restaurant is on the charming, rustic side. With tax and tip, this was about $55 per person. It's great value and highly recommended if you are in the area.

So, i decidedly just do not like sourdough as a pizza crust. It's my opinion, but i firmly believe they belong separate and distinct from one another. That said that wasn't the only thing lacking here. The pizza was SUPER crispy and charred - and probably honestly down right burnt. If that's how they like to do it here that's fine but i did not like it. The burnt taste takes away from the taste. Also, you shouldn't have to char it so much to get a great undercarriage. Overall the flavors were just lacking. We got the spicy roni and one other. Both were just fine. The best thing we got was probanly the Caesar salad. The house wine was also quite mid. The server was fantastic but there was probably a 25+ minute lag between appetizer and pizza. Def wouldn't come again. Not worth the price or the hype. Worth trying for yourself, though.

    The perfect setup :)

Jules is hands down my favorite pizza spot in the city. New Haven style, crispy-yet-chewy sourdough crust, and a unique set of toppings (plus the classics of course). Highly recommend going with a few people to try all their pizzas and small plates/apps! Friendly service, unpretentious, and a laidback neighborhood spot with a buzz. This review is from Sept 2025

We had been pretty excited to try Jules and came for a dinner with a friend in town. It was pretty hard to get reservations and we heard the host tell a walk-in it would be a 2-hour wait for a table at 5:30pm - yikes! The beginning started off good, with the miso carrots definitely being a star (delicious!). But once the pizzas came out, we weren't impressed. I wouldn't consider myself a pizza connoisseur by any means, but they were all just... okay. Nothing amazing, nothing stand-out (as compared to other better pizza places of similar style). They also forgot our mushroom pizza so it came out pretty late after we had finished eating and the crust was pretty blackened. Service was also fine, maybe a little standoffish. After the meal, we decided that a wait would not have been worth it. Honestly a little disappointed and very 'whelmed. There are other great pizza spots in the city worth checking out! Not sure I would come back again.

YES! Get that Jules reservation! We tried the "Fun Guy" and "The Satriale Special" -- both were ‍ INCREDIBLE The fun guy is your classic mushroom pizza but with a black garlic tamarind sauce. I have never tried this combination before and was pleasantly surprised by how well the flavors complement one another. The satriale special is a gochujang vodka sauce base that carries a kick! The pickled goat horn peppers brought a tangy punch, spring onions & sesame crumble brought crunch -- this was a pizza for the senses!

Visited on a Friday around 5:45pm with a friend, restaurant interior was full but we were lucky and got the last outdoor table. If you decide to try to walk in definitely go early or try to snag a reservation before visiting. Drinks: Strawberry Amaro - pretty good, nice lightly sweetened, subtle strawberry notes, grabbed this with soda for a lovely bubbly low abv drink Saison - solid, nice subtle citrus notes, Food: Grilled Arrowhead Cabbage- really good, great subtle char, cabbage was tender, loved the crunchy and nutty pumpkin seeds, the chili butter added a bit of heat and the gremolata added some fresh herby lemony note Spicy Ronny - solid, a bit oily for my taste, crust was crispy with a well baked bottom and a toasty flavor, pepperoni was excellent crispy cups that were very flavorful with a nice heat, tomato sauce was bright and fresh with rich tomato flavor, wish the crust had a bit more flavor didn't pick up any tangy sourdough notes, maybe it needed a touch more salt something felt lacking Service was fine, water bottle and glasses were provided when we got seated, drinks and apps were served pretty promptly. Staff is not the most attentive but given how busy it was and being seated outside understandable. They did ask if we wanted fresh plates between apps and pizza which was nice. Pizza did take quite a bit of time before we got our order maybe 25-30min after we were seated. So be prepared to wait. Overall glad I finally got to try Jules, solid pizza but wouldn't go out of my way to visit lots of other great spots in SF. Arrive early if you want to try to walk in, seemed like they do quite a bit of takeout as well if you aren't able to snag a

Finally able to more easily get reservations so got a 5:15 table on Friday, and by 5:30 the restaurant was full! Small corner table, cute interior, and great staff! I have to say I do get the hype, I definitely tasted the sourdough on the pizza. We had the fun guy - wow 9/10 for me. It was delicious, crispy, flavour bomb! The crust was SO GOOD. Only comment is it's very oily not sure if it's truffle oil but it was dripping out I had to squeeze some out. Friend had the Satriale special - same comment, FLAVOUR BOMB! This one is neat, and they said that the crust was a bit more burnt and dry than the other but still gave it a 9/10. I totally understand what people say when they say it's a bit salty but it wasn't overwhelmingly salty. You need to pay extra for sauces we had the green sauce and the chilli crisps. Honestly, I don't think it's necessary to get the sauces, especially because you have to pay for them. The pizzas are already so flavourful that even the sauces taste delicious I just don't think it paired well. Maybe with the ones that we got maybe would be better with the margarita pizza. I'll say it again, I understand the hype really delicious pizza.

Delicious pizza! The Fun Guy was my personal fave and the classic margarita was also a fan fave with the group. The pizzas were deep in flavor, even the veggie only pizzas. Cute restaurant, casual. Def make a reservation though. Seating is tight and wouldn't recommend for parties of more than 4.

Not worth the hype IMO - maybe too overhyped. so had high expectations. Food was extremely regular. Pizza came out a little burnt. One of them a half blackened crust? Plus we waited for a while before pizza was ready. Had looked forward to the unique pizzas but meh. Glad to try, but sadly no need to go back. You can go elsewhere!

I'm going to say it. I thought Jules was overhyped. It was so hyped that I went in with extremely high expectations. The pizza was quite good but just not what others set it up to be in my mind. The menu rotates seasonally which is fun. We wanted some food to eat during the Muni Bar Crawl on a Friday night. There's no way we could get in with no reservation, so we ordered online from their website for pickup/takeout which was perfect. We drank and walked around and it was ready when they said it would be. Service was very accommodating. Named for the grandmother of the owner (he's an Oakland native!), the decor and interior are meant to be cozy like a grandmother's house. It certainly is homey and cozy, but also because it's trendy and dimly-lit, it feels romantic too. We split the - Satriale Special ($27, gochujang vodka sauce, mozzarella, pecorino, hot italian sausage, pickled goat horn peppers, green garlic, spring onion, sesame crumble). - Spicy Ronny($25, caciocavallo, pepperoni, parm, ajika chili flake, calabrian chili). The Spicy Ronny was indeed spicy, and quite salty. Ingredients were high quality, but I felt like the spice was too overpowering. The Satriale Special flavors were bold, spicy, and had some umami. Overall? Will be back once the hype comes down. It was very good pizza, just not worth the hype (the hype is very high.)

An amazing thin-crust pizza spot for unique and satisfying combinations! Went in November (oops very belated review) but still worth writing about. Our party of 4 came ready to try as many vegetarian options as possible. Here's what we got and my rating, lowest to highest: * Dr. Robotnik: 8/10 - loved the eggplant an tomato-y sauce, solid pizza. * Spicy Ronny (vegetarian): 8.5/10 - hot honey is a must. Was expecting more of a kick but yummy and savory. * Broccoli & a 40: 9.2/10 - like eating broccoli cheddar soup on a pizza. Would've never thought of it but obsessed with the salt, the crunch, and the flavor. * Fun Guy: 9.5/10: tastes like mushroom masala on a pizza. The cheesy umami base coupled with the tang of the tamarind sauce made it reminiscent of many cultures' best mushroom dishes. The pizza crust was so light, but slightly burnt as can happen with sourdough crust! We also got the sauce sampler (the most memorable one being the "that green sauce", which I would order solo next time). The burnt sesame and date ice cream was good, but I didn't find the smoky aftertaste appealing. Service was friendly and prompt - I am always so grateful for servers who give honest takes. Would say overall 4.5, but giving a 5 bc the top two pizzas were delicious!

Solid 4 stars for this thin pizza. Hella big love for the cesar salad, its was flawless! We definitely enjoyed 1 of the 2 pizzas better the one pictured was our least fav we didn't realize it wasn't going to have cheese lol. Simple menu with good service and a cute/ trendy setting. Sounds wild but I loved their bathroom vibe!

Without getting into the gnarly details, it wasn't fun and I've been grieving pizza since this new discovery. So why would I go to Tony's with this new allergy? Because! I read that they offer a gluten free, dairy free pizza. Insane I know, but yet they offer it and I was PUMPED. When asking the waiter what I can get based on my needs, he responded to me like I was a war criminal. He was a Caucasian gentleman with brown hair. He raised his voice for all the diners to hear about my allergies, told me I couldn't get any pizza, and when I pointed out that there were options, he told me "I'll triple check if this is possible for you." When he came back and confirmed it was possible, he tells me they can do a gluten free pizza with vegan cheese and vegan pepperoni. It felt like the moment he heard 'gluten' and 'dairy,' he mentally categorized me as 'vegan' and stopped looking for ways to make the experience enjoyable. Yikes! Lol I fully recognize - girl, why did you go to a pizza spot with a gluten and dairy allergy? Yes I am not okay for this hahah but also I felt pretty embarrassed and treated really poorly. This experience doesn't reflect Tony's as a whole, but it was just a terrible interaction and that waiter made it real clear that he has no patience for anything that is inconvenient during his work shift.

Here's how it went: Service: friendly. Once off hold on the phone, and when picking up, the staff was pleasant for sure. The space: convenient walk up counter. Love a good sticker wall, and the display was nice to have. Value: honestly reasonable, especially comparatively. Ordered a small cheese and a small garlic and clam and two people could for sure share a small. Taste: other recent reviews are hitting it on the head - while the garlic and clam was decent (3.5/5), the cheese struck a core memory of elementary school cafeteria pizza (just without the tiny pepperoni diced cubes, 2/5), and both were just lukewarm, soft/not at all crisp, and just weren't packing much flavor at all. I can see Golden Boy being a workable late night solution for the City that Goes To Bed Early, but not much else beyond that at this point. Rating 3 stars at places with nice people working is not my favorite, so I'm glad that it's an institution and has stood the test of time and truly hope that they can/will calibrate on elevating their formula here, because I want to see this place deserve the love it gets.

I also enjoyed their use of fresh basil and the grated Parmigiano-Reggiano they throw on at the end. It's kinda like a new york slice, but a little gourmet? Very tasty for sure. Critiques: First off, each slice is $6-7, which is a bit steep. Maybe times have changed, but this is def not a budget meal, especially if you are eating multiple slices. Second, some of their already crispy slices have been sitting on display for some time and completely cooled down. When these slices are then reheated, there is a bit of an overcooked taste? Lastly, they only have a few topping options and the quantity of toppings on each slice (especially protein) is pretty sparse. I also ordered a slice of the Sicilian as well to mix things up. His pizza came out very quickly, which we had no complaints about. The issue started when we had barely been seated for about 15 minutes. I went to the restroom, and while I was gone, the waitress approached my boyfriend while he literally had pizza in his mouth and a full beer in front of him and told him, "My chef said to charge you." He was confused but said okay because it made us wonder if they were closing. I checked the hours, and they weren't supposed to close until 10 PM--it was barely around 9 PM. I HADN'T EVEN ORDERED MY FOOD YET. I was still planning on ordering my own pizza, dessert, and a drink. Instead, we suddenly felt like we were being rushed to pay and leave. What made the situation even more unprofessional was that she left the payment device at our table for Apple Pay and then actually left the restaurant. She was the only server we had seen around, so we were basically left sitting there with the payment device and no server. We eventually had to get up ourselves to find someone so we could ask for boxes and return their payment device. No one had even asked whether we needed boxes, wanted anything else, or were finished ordering. My boyfriend didn't even finish his beer because at that point the entire vibe had changed and we just wanted to leave. We had driven an hour specifically to try this restaurant and were genuinely excited about it, which made the experience even more disappointing. I completely understand if a server's shift is ending, but there is a professional way to handle that--especially when customers are still actively eating and one person at the table hasn't even ordered yet. Someone could have simply explained that her shift was ending and introduced whoever would be taking over our table. Instead, we were made to feel like we needed to pay and leave. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We really wanted to like this place, but being treated this way after driving an hour to come here was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
