The crust here is easily a 10/10! While the overall flavor profile wasn't quite my personal style, I can certainly appreciate the craft. I understand Chef Max goes lighter on the cheese to maintain that ideal crispness and prevent sogginess, but I personally prefer a bit more cheese on my pizza. My friend wanted to try Jules after seeing them on the NY Times restaurant recommendation list. Four of us came here for Saturday dinner right when they opened (we had no reservations and there were several people in line right before 5 pm). We shared the charred cabbage, heirloom tomatos and salmon toast for appetizers. For pizzas, we chose the field dream (corn, mozzarella, tomatoes), fun guy (lots of mushrooms) and the satriale special (gochujang sauce, Italian sausage). For dessert, we shared the blueberry bay leaf ice cream and made it a pizookie. Everything was great. I love mushroom pizzas so the fun guy was my favorite. I also really loved the crust on their pizzas. Food-wise, this is definitely 5 stars. Service was also good. We were seated at the community table and that was good. So, i decidedly just do not like sourdough as a pizza crust. It's my opinion, but i firmly believe they belong separate and distinct from one another. That said that wasn't the only thing lacking here. The pizza was SUPER crispy and charred - and probably honestly down right burnt. If that's how they like to do it here that's fine but i did not like it. The burnt taste takes away from the taste. Also, you shouldn't have to char it so much to get a great undercarriage. Overall the flavors were just lacking. We got the spicy roni and one other. Both were just fine. The best thing we got was probanly the Caesar salad. The house wine was also quite mid. We had been pretty excited to try Jules and came for a dinner with a friend in town. It was pretty hard to get reservations and we heard the host tell a walk-in it would be a 2-hour wait for a table at 5:30pm - yikes! The beginning started off good, with the miso carrots definitely being a star (delicious!). But once the pizzas came out, we weren't impressed. I wouldn't consider myself a pizza connoisseur by any means, but they were all just... okay. Nothing amazing, nothing stand-out (as compared to other better pizza places of similar style). Finally able to more easily get reservations so got a 5:15 table on Friday, and by 5:30 the restaurant was full! Small corner table, cute interior, and great staff! I have to say I do get the hype, I definitely tasted the sourdough on the pizza. We had the fun guy - wow 9/10 for me. It was delicious, crispy, flavour bomb! The crust was SO GOOD. Only comment is it's very oily not sure if it's truffle oil but it was dripping out I had to squeeze some out. Friend had the Satriale special - same comment, FLAVOUR BOMB! This one is neat, and they said that the crust was a bit more burnt and dry than the other but still gave it a 9/10. I totally understand what people say when they say it's a bit salty but it wasn't overwhelmingly salty. You need to pay extra for sauces we had the green sauce and the chilli crisps. There's no way we could get in with no reservation, so we ordered online from their website for pickup/takeout which was perfect. We drank and walked around and it was ready when they said it would be. Service was very accommodating. Named for the grandmother of the owner (he's an Oakland native!), the decor and interior are meant to be cozy like a grandmother's house. It certainly is homey and cozy, but also because it's trendy and dimly-lit, it feels romantic too. We split the - Satriale Special ($27, gochujang vodka sauce, mozzarella, pecorino, hot italian sausage, pickled goat horn peppers, green garlic, spring onion, sesame crumble). - Spicy Ronny($25, caciocavallo, pepperoni, parm, ajika chili flake, calabrian chili). The Spicy Ronny was indeed spicy, and quite salty. Ingredients were high quality, but I felt like the spice was too overpowering. The Satriale Special flavors were bold, spicy, and had some umami. Our party of 4 came ready to try as many vegetarian options as possible. Was expecting more of a kick but yummy and savory. * Broccoli & a 40: 9.2/10 - like eating broccoli cheddar soup on a pizza. Jules has been on top of my husband's list for awhile. For someone who can't tolerate dairy too well, he sure loves pizza! Getting a reservation here is possible with a little strategy. Reservations are available online and opens up 14 days in advance. The tip is to go online at midnight 14 days before the day you want to go and book a spot. Upon checking in, we were immediately greeted with a "Happy Anniversary" by the host/server. Service throughout was consistent and good even though they were super busy. Our server forgot to bring out a root beer my husband ordered so they gave it to him on the house. We started with the crab louie toast followed by the pepperoni (Spicy Ronny) pizza and the mushroom (Fun Guy) pizza. Unfortunately, I do feel like the food left something to be desired and the service wasn't the most friendly, so maybe they are still working themselves out since they are new! The satriale special and sauce flight were good for sure, but overall I'd say the appetizers stood out more than the pizza. Nothing about the pizzas really struck me as uniquely good, they felt very much like any other decent pizza you can get in the city. Back again for a dinner for 2. They switched their reservation system from Resy to Sevenrooms so I was able to make a reservation a few weeks in advance. Their sesame semolina potato buns were served warm and came with an amazing whipped butter. The buns were nice and pillowy. The charred arrowhead cabbage was flavorful and delicious. The Spicy Ronny pizza was also tasty! They did not skim on the pepperoni. It was a bit on the oily side because of all the pepperoni but we enjoyed the pizza. First time at Jules. Make sure you have a reservation or you come early before the restaurant opens. Otherwise it'll be tough to get seated. The restaurants doesn't fit a whole lot of people and most tables are saved for reservations. We got there at 4:30 so 30 mins before opening and we were first to get seated at the counter. The line started to form 20 mins before the restaurant opened on a Friday night. So just be prepared or you will be turned away. My husband and I came here solely for their pizza. Ordered the special and the fun guy pizza. Both pizza were delicious on its own but taste even better with the hot honey (not too hot), miso ranch, and the green sauce. These are sour dough pizzas which are different from your typical pizza dough. It was hard to rate the pizzas because there were so much to love about it but also the pizza was a bit burnt. I think with sourdough, it's hard to perfect cooking without burning the dough. So many of the crust and the bottom of the pizza were inedible. I had to rip off the black burnt pieces off the pizza. We were able to finish both pizzas but that's because many of the crust was ripped and tossed. I hope Jules can work on this, I'd really like to come back to try some of their other pizzas but not if they're unable to fix the temperature and burnt pizzas. I'd rate their pizzas a 3.5 /5. I've been hearing about this place so much and I finally was able to get a reservation. The restaurant is cute and intimate, and I really liked the vibe the red light creates in the space. We got the Marone and Spicy Ronny pizzas, with a side of honey. The spicy ronny fell short of my expectations, but adding honey on top helped redeem it. The marone was great, and I'd definitely get that one again. I had a leftover slice of each, and both were just as good (if not better) as when served fresh. TLDR: Good to try but I wouldn't be back. Jules is a very hyped up restaurant touting a best pizza nod? Sourdough- yum, ofc! Unique and the 90s music playing is a vibe! The TJ Caesar was so good! Loved the pickled veg + avo + generous mountain of cheese atop. The Crab Louie toast was ok, the toppings/dressing overpowered the crab BUT the hibiscus egg was unique and memorable. On to the pizza- we got the Spicy Ronny + Marone, side of housemade tarragon miso ranch. The Spicy Ronny was so greasy and quite salty. The Marone was just a margherita- standard. The char was a bit too much and that flavor overwhelmed the palette. Me and my bf honestly liked the pizza a day later as leftovers. $120 for a na beer, 2 apps and 2 pizzas. Again, good to try but lots of other places to try in the city! read more

We lucked out getting a reservation on a Wednesday night and couldn't be more excited to try this new Tartine alum pizza joint. While I'm glad we tried, I'm not sure I'll be rushing to return especially given how difficult it is to get a table. The pizza is thin crust and while it is good, it was all a bit over done and burnt on the top. The toppings are pretty good and flavorful. The ambiance is definitely a lot more casual pizza joint than I was expecting. The lighting was also quite dark and off. If you can't get a table and want to try, place an order to go instead and enjoy it in the park or at home where it's comfy. With so many good pizza places around SF, this unfortunately doesn't make my repeat list. read more

Jules is still packed even after having been open for a while, and for good reason. The food here is delicious, and it's always a good time to go out with friends and spend the whole time commenting on how good the food is. price: ~$30/person recs: fun guy pizza, burnt date + black sesame ice cream - Fun Guy Pizza: Like a creamy mushroom soup on a super, super thin sourdough crust that contrasts well with the tartness from the black garlic tamarind sauce drops - Dr. Robotnik Pizza: A delicious red pie that is savory and tart from the tomato sauce and vinegar eggplant but gets a nice freshness from the basil - Nori Guanciale Pull Apart Buns: Wasn't too memorable to me, although I did enjoy the smoked trout roe in butter (so unique) - Charred Arrowhead Cabbage: Texturally interesting from the softness of the cabbage and the crunch from the pumpkin seeds. Will probably make you feel better after one too many slices of pizza? Seems like the menu rotates occasionally, so I'd definitely come back and try new renditions of flavors in the future. :) read more

Great pizza, appetizer, drinks, and service. I was able to snag a last minute reservation with the Notify Me on Resy. Allow extra time to find street parking as it can be tough (had to circle around for about 15 minutes). Not necessarily sure if I'd wait in line for it (maybe if I lived close by), but definitely worth a try! There were already around 5 parties arriving right at 4:55pm and earlier on Saturday. We were able to get seated at a two seater facing the outside window, which was nice and more private than the two seaters along the wall of the restaurant. As others have said, it is a bit hot inside the restaurant so make sure you dress appropriately. We ordered the cabbage, spicy Ronny, and the burnt date. The cabbage was a nice blend of smoky burnt edges and nutty crunch from the pumpkin seed. The spicy Ronny was great as well - I wish it came with sausage, but I always prefer some sort of meat on my pizza. The crust was crunchy but still had a nice chew to it. Only a mild spice too, which helped the overall flavor. Paired with the ranch, it was even better. The burnt date ice cream was different - for some reason it reminded me of a very light peanut butter ice cream. I wasn't the biggest fan of the chocolate as it was a bit too sweet, but the dessert was still good and refreshing. read more

So far, one of my favorite pizza places in the city. Jules has a unique assortment of pizzas, but they also have some spins on classics. I liked the wine pairings and options that they had. Really went well with the slices I tried. An elevated way to have pizza without feeling like you miss the comfortable and cozy feeling of consuming pizza. The nori guanciale pull apart bun was delicious. The bready was so pillowy. A good umami, savory taste. The uni butter was so good. Like the saltiness of it. Tried the Fun Guy. The crust was good, and I liked the assortment of mushrooms. The 111 Hester was interesting. The Szechuan peppercorns made it numbing. It was a jarring feeling given that a pizza was the cause of it. However, I wasn't amazed by it. Overall, I would come back. Maybe for takeout if that's figured out yet. Definitely interesting rotation of pizzas. read more

After waiting awhile to book and get into this place, I finally found a reservation on Resy. It was a Tuesday night and I was facing the kitchen. The ambience is so-so to needs improvement. The one light by the kitchen vs the ambient light elsewhere made it hard to see anything. It actually hurt my eyes. We ordered a summer salad and two pizzas - Spicy Ronny or spicy pepperoni and Funghi or mushroom. We also got a hot honey dip. Both pizzas were nice though the mushroom pizza looked more burned (see photo) The service was good. We had a young lady wait on us. She was good but busy since she was doing other things like glasses so when we were ready to pay, we had to waive at her. Other than that very pleasant. read more

Was finally able to snag a reservation here thanks to the Resy "Notify Me" list! I had tried to come by a few weeks ago as a walk-in on a Friday and the wait was over 2 hours. Definitely recommend using the Resy list because I'm here to say that it actually works! I was so excited to come back a few Fridays later and actually have a table this time. We started with the charred cabbage and crudo appetizers. The cabbage was the standout! I would 100% order two of those next time . And then... the pizzas. WOW. Some of the best I've had in SF (and honestly anywhere). We got the classic Marone and the seasonal summer corn pizza. The Marone totally exceeded my expectations. So simple but somehow packed with so much flavor. We also got the sauce flight for dipping crust, but I ended up drizzling them all over my slices. The sauces were insane. The space is beautifully decorated and has a great vibe! It would be a super cute date spot. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying their fall seasonal pizza. Today was the last day for the summer one so I'm glad I made it just in time! read more
