My favorite neighborhood pizza spot for a slice and beer. They serve NY style slices, and I love the mushroom slice most. Seating and service is swift, and the environment is open, clean, and welcoming. I like to sit at the bar or high tops for a casual quick meal and am always excited to eat there. They also do a delicious burger as well if you're not into pizza.
Best pizza in San Francisco, hands down. Came here with a group of 10 friends (by reservation) and the service was very fast and friendly. We ordered 5/6 of the pizzas available at the time. Our absolute favorites were the Pesto and Margherita. Spicy Vodka was good but not as mind-blowing as the first two. The crust, flavor, and size of these pizzas are amazing. We ordered 5 pizzas (+ salads, fries, and beer) for 10 big-backed people and walked away with a bunch of leftovers! Would definitely come back. :)
I have heard good things about this place so decided to check it out. Since it was a weekday, parking wasn't too bad and I found a spot about a block away. Upon entering, Hi Hat reminds me of Golden Boy's location on on Green in SF. with a big bar seating area and a few tables. All that was missing was the walk-up window! I took a seat at the bar to place my to-go order. I ordered a whole pepperoni, a slice of cheese and a slice of spicy vodka (recommended by staff as their most popular). The staff was all friendly and helpful. My order took about 20 minutes. The star was definitely the spicy vodka! My partner enjoyed the pepperoni, said it was one of the best he's ever had. I liked it as well, but the sauce was a bit tart for me. The cheese was also good, but not something I'd order again when compared to the spicy vodka and pepperoni ones. The great thing about Hi Hat is that they also serve burgers, hot sandwiches and a few salads. The chatter about Hi Hat is all true, delicious pizza with an amazing crust. Glad to be able to add this to my rotation of pizzerias around!
First time trying Hi Hat Pizza. The place was super packed, but I kind of expected that on a Sunday night. They had a couple of slices available, so we tried the pepperoni and cheese. Overall, the pizza was good. My only complaint is that they put a little too much Parmesan on top for my taste since I'm not really a parm person. I found this place through Barstool Pizza Review, so I definitely wanted to give it a shot. I'd give it a solid 4.5-5 stars. I've been trying different pizza spots all day, and I wouldn't say this was the best one I had, but it definitely wasn't the worst either. It was just a good, solid pizza. Next time I'll ask for no Parmesan, and I think that could easily make it a 5-star experience for me. Service was okay. It seemed like they were mostly set up for dine-in, and since there really wasn't anywhere for us to sit, we felt a little rushed. The lady who helped us was very nice, and the gentleman who handed us the pizza was nice as well. The place has a cool neighborhood feel and looks like they may be doing some construction or improvements right now. I posted a few pictures, and I definitely want to come back one more time, sit down, and give it another try.
Been coming for the 'specials' like the discounted slice nights (Tues nite) and the burger + beer for $20 (after 9pm every night) and haven't been disappointed. I like that there's a good sized bar where one can catch the latest Giants L (2026 has been miserable) or the Valkyries' dub (conversely a team set to make a deep run thru this year's playoffs), depending on the schedules or just whatever's on the screen. apparently, there's a DJ that spins vinyl on certain days, which totally catches my attention and adds even more reason for me to drop by more often. bartenders are friendly & sociable and there's a really decent selection of ales on tap and toppings of choice on their pizzas. 2 other reasons I can appreciate this place: a casual ambiance that seems to invite a good majority of locals 'round the area and that there's a record store just a few doors up. parking may be difficult during the dinner rush & meters run til 6pm (?).
So I have Hi Hat in a tie for first place for best pizza in the Bay Area with Pizza Ponte. We had a large party of 14 and they made it work. The staff was fantastic and so was the pizza. The cook on the pizzas are fully dialed in. Crispy bottom. So floppy slices here.
A great place in the Mission to grab a slice! Came here on a weekday to grab dinner with a friend and the ambiance was great. There was a mixture of families with kids and friends catching up. My stand out was definitely the mushroom slice!
Hi Hat is honestly my new favorite pizza (and burger) spot in the city. My past two visits here have exceeded my expectations, and I really enjoy pressuring friends to make visits, too. price: ~$20/person recs: stracciatella pizza, hi hat burger (but honestly, everything has been good) imo the pizza is best when it's fresh, so dining in elevates the experience. The crust is my favorite part -- it's thin (but not too thin), savory, and almost focaccia-like. The vodka sauce on the stracciatella pizza is balanced, and ingredients taste super fresh. Paired with a draft beer, this makes for a super well-rounded meal :^ ) I was also surprised I liked the burger as much as I did. The burger comes with a generously portioned, juicy patty and is paired with piping hot and well-salted fries. Would easily make many more visits to this establishment!
We came here because of Dave Portnoy's review. I think this is the first time we did not agree with his high rating. First off, the staff that gave us the table and served us the pizza, was slightly rude. Our other waiter who took our order, was nice. My husband requested his pizza slice to be extra crispy, and the rest of us wanted the regular crisp. Even though the waiter acknowledge that and made a note on the order, everyone's pizza was extremely crispy. Now for the taste, the cheese was incredibly salty and I could barely taste the sauce. I also got the spicy vodka sauce, but all I tasted was burnt cheese and garlic. All the sauce seemed to disappear. Overall, will not be returning.
We ordered the spicy vodka and stracciatella to share and it was delicious! Very large pizza and also wasn't too spicy. We also ordered some drinks and the staff were very nice to share some recommendations. They seem very knowledgeable and proud of their large selection.
The food was AMAZING. I went here on 7/13/26 right after having a bad experience at a different restaurant. The service was also AMAZING. Shout-out to Brittany our sever. She was amazing. The ambiance was nice.
Friends and I came around 7:30 so I would say about mid shift since the restaurant opens at 4 PM and closes at 10 PM. We were pretty bumped that by the time we got there, they only had slices for the mushroom + jersey pies so my friends and I had to get two pies. However, the pies are HUUGE -- definitely enough to feed you for the next two days. The buffalo wings and fries were also great! Overall had a great experience and would come back to try their pesto pie!
Some of the best pizza I have ever tried! Came in on Sunday night to try and cop a late night slice but was saddened to hear the stop serving slices. But I was determined so I came back the next day during happy hour and was excited to try the vodka and stracciatella slice. The sauce was great the cheese was creamy and the crust had the perfect crunch. I also got a pepperoni slice and while it was good, I felt like the pepperoni was a little too much and was overpowering the base of the pizza if that makes sense. Overall would definitely come back! And great service!
The menu at some restaurants in SF can be overwhelming. I seen restaurants have Cheesecake Factory like menus which has more pages than some books on Amazon. These restaurants seem to wear a lot of hats with different cuisines from everywhere and offering everything . Then there is the minimalist menu restaurants which is more like a one pager of all they offer. One place which should have an one pager is a pizza place. There is a pizza spot in the Mission District which makes extra cheesy pizza in SF. On the menu you will not find no ravioli or angel hair pasta.The menu is not high capping and it's on Valencia street. It's has pizza with mushrooms , sausage and Buffalo Chicken. Dave Portnoy's of One Bite Pizza reviews during this years Super Bowl weekend called this place and Tony's Pizza the best pizza in San Francisco and in the San Francisco Bay Area region and ranked it Elite Tier and it's called Hi Hat. On a September Fall stroll also known as the San Francisco Summer on Valencia street I landed at Hi Hat. Inside it's part bar and part restaurant and the walls are filled with art work. I decided to get the Pepperoni pizza which was delicious with zesty sauce and had crunchy pepperoni. It was also cheesy with extra Parmesan on top and is becoming one my new favorite pizzas in SF. The crust wasn't flaky like some in SF and it had a fold. I washed it down with a STS Russian River which was smooth and a Cherry Limeade which was sour like some in SF and topped it off with a refreshing Shirley Temple with a cherry on top. The Mission District is becoming one of the best place to grab pizza in the city with Angie's , Corey's , The Pizza Place, Pink Onion, and Delfina's . No cap and hats off to Hi Hat for putting Mission District pizza on the map in SF. Amazing pizza place in the Mission! Came here on a Friday night with a large party (7 people), waited ~30 mins for a table. The pizza took a while to come out, but every trying was very fresh and piping hot. Restaurant felt very cozy and staff were friendly. Spicy vodka pizza: my favorite out of the ones we ordered. Super flavorful and refreshing. The cheese and sauce was delicious! Mushroom pizza: this one was also delicious. Would highly recommend if you're a mushroom lover. Had a very unique and mushroom-forward flavor Pesto pizza: this was also great but I would skip next time. Really enjoyed the pizza. Probably one of the best slices I've had in the city. Cookie had layers and layers of chocolate, which I appreciated. It's a soft/moist type of cookie. No crispy edges. Place is spacious, looks nice & clean. I saw a nice variety of beers on tap. Ordered to-go twice. When I asked for a piece of foil for the pizza, the person that was assisting (I assume manager or owner) just took one of the triple stacked thin plate that the pizza was served to cover the top. Had to hold onto the slice the whole ride home. I would recommend the restaurant providing foil for take out orders. Would recommend checking this place out for some thin crust crispy pizza! read more

The pizza here is fantastic! If you enjoy super thin, crispy crust, then I highly recommend this spot. This may be my new favorite pizza spot in SF. My partner and I dined here on a Friday night, and we got seated immediately. Since it was our first time, we decided to order a slice of each type of pizza - pepperoni, jersey tomato pie, mushroom pie, spicy vodka & stracciatella. Our favorite ended up being the spicy vodka & stracciatella, which was so flavorful and delicious that we ended up getting another slice of it afterwards. There's a decent variety of drinks available as well, including some beers on tap. Service was also super friendly and helpful. I also heard good things about the burger here, so I can't wait to come back to try that and get more of the spicy vodka & stracciatella pizza. read more

If you don't want to wait in line come on a weekday. Finally got to try the pizza here after so long. The pizza texture was gr8 no flop indeed. Things to note the inside was very nice with a bar and super nice/ attentive servers which I appreciated. I thought the mushroom pizza was a bit too heavy and repetitive IMO but the other slice the spicy vodka was delicious. Also had the chip dip + broccoli salad which were also both tasty. Great experience think the mushroom pizza @ mamas boy a bit better but still overall very solid read more

Came for the pizza but definitely don't sleep on the burger!! I added mushrooms to mine after the bartender suggested I do so and it's definitely the move. For pizza we got slices of the mushroom and the vodka & stracciatella. They were both A+ flavor combinations and so tasty, but I think the crust was a liiiittle crunchier than I wanted (as opposed to chewy), I suspect because they were slices and thus probably reheated. I was by no means deterred though and scarfed my meal down so fast. So glad that another pizza shop opened in the Mission, I will definitely be back to try out the whole pies and beers! read more

I don't get the hype. The pizza wasn't even as good as a similar slice at Whole Foods. It's better than Costco, but not by much. And the cost doesn't match the quality. $80 for a pepperoni and cheese pizza that weigh almost nothing. The boxes they came in probably weighed more than the pies. It's a great NY/NJ style slice, but those cost a fraction of the Hi Hat price. Want to try the burger, but we will go someplace else for pizza next time. read more
Ordered a couple of slices here on the way back to SF since we saw it was a new location! We tried the pepperoni and mushroom pie slice and they both were tasty! Although they were not as fresh as I would have liked, they made up in flavor and the bread was top notch! Service was amazing, bar tender and staff really enjoyed the customers. They all were trying to do the best they can and they were extremely nice. Although I love the simplicity of the bar/restaurant I felt like there was still something missing. A touch of interesting decor inside would go a long way! Overall, great quality NY style pizza at a competitive price! read more

Never heard of this place before, however I just happened to be doing business in the area so decided to check it out. Ordered the spicy vodka and was surprised how good it was. Pizza was crunchy and had a lot of flavor. Just so different than what I'm used to , will definitely have to return and try this place again. read more

Excellent NY-style pizza, with slightly thicker crusts than your standard NY slice. We got the spicy vodka and the pesto. The vodka pizza was great and the straciatella cheese provided a cool creamy contrast. The pesto was good, but a bit too salty. read more
Great pizza spot. They're quick and delicious! We got the pepperoni, the mushroom, and the spicy vodka. The spicy vodka was my favorite but the mushroom and pepperoni were close contenders. It's a thin slice of pizza, so the crust is nice and crispy. The mushroom and the spicy vodka had some fresh cheese which balanced out the heaviness and made it the perfect combination. I would definitely come back and get a whole pie. read more
Great addition to the neighborhood! Nice place to grab a beer and a slice of pizza to watch the game. The pizza is good although I do wish it was a tad less crispy. The corn fritters were also good. Not sure if this place had an off night as our experience was vastly different from the glowing reviews here. Photos of the pizza looked promising online and the menu sounded good. Vibe was cozy with a nice bar area. But service was severely lacking: we waited at the front for several minutes and in spite of making eye contact with multiple staff, no one came over to seat us or even acknowledge our presence. Someone coming out from the kitchen finally noticed and was kind enough to wave us in and tell us to sit wherever. After sitting down, we similarly waited several minutes for someone to hand us menus or at least asked if we wanted water, until we got fed up and just grabbed menus on our own. We noticed that parties coming in after us were seated and handed waters before we even got a menu and this lack of service was persistent as we watched these later parties get their orders taken first and their food arrive before us. I don't usually order salad because I think they're rip-offs, but I was desperate for some greens and the arugula salad lived up to this expectation. If the pizza were good, at least there'd be some saving grace to the experience. We ordered a slice of each pizza offered: pepperoni, cheese, summer squash, mushroom, and spicy vodka & stracciatella. There was literally no summer squash in the summer squash pizza. It was really more like a cilantro/mint leaf salad than a pizza. Mushroom pie was okay; the garlic confit didn't add much and there was hardly any detectable porcini flavor in the porcini cream. The cheese and the spicy vodka slices were functionally the same -- I couldn't tell them apart. Tomato sauce was nothing standout and I wouldn't even say the slices were particularly cheesy. My husband gave the pepperoni a 5/10. As for the crust? Sure, it was thin. But boy was it tough. There's a difference between a good crisp and just being dry and hard. I had to yank on it with my teeth to rip a piece off. I've had my fair share of NYC thin crust and this was just not it for me. read more

My brother with my hubby recommended this place after picking me up from SFO 13hour flight from Manila. Eva took our order and Nelson served it, you can see that these 2 love their jobs, very pleasant and polite. We ordered the spicy vodka pizza, mushroom and pepperoni, they're crispy thin crust are delicioius. Would definitely come back and highly recommended. read more

I love this place. I came here to try their pizza and was not disappointed. Easily my top 3 NY pizza places in the Bay Area We tried a full vodka pie, and a slice of the pepperoni and the jersey tomato. All excellent. The hi hat burger was also really tasty, though I wish the patty made it to the edges of the bun and that they were more generous with the pickles. One of the workers (I assume is a manager or owner) saw I had the warriors game on my phone and he asked me about it and then proceeded to put it on the TV. Really great environment. read more

I had high hopes for hi hat pizza, having gone there 3 times, I figured out adding extra cheese to the cheese pie gets you pretty close to a NY style pizza with good flavor & a nice crisp on the crust. BUT, this 4th time, big problems. The crust was charred beyond edible at many spots AND this 4th pie was SALTY like they are trying for bacalao or something. Almost unbearably salty where the chef didn't try the sauce & something went horribly wrong. I had to put a tomato reduction I made for my breakfast earlier to make it edible. Never again. It was my new NY pizza go to spot & then it wasn't. read more

One of the best pizza spots in SF. Came from @stoolpresidente pizza review and it did not disappoint. Coming from east coast the pizza standard is very high. This is such an exceptional pizza spot. LOVED every bite of the spicy vodka and stracciatella. Went on a Tuesday evening and the staff was very attentive and efficient. This place is a must try if you're in the Bay Area. read more

We found this new spot on Yelp for some late night pizza and we were impressed! It's new to the neighborhood, only open for about a month. The place is spacious and the staff is nice. We got some slices and they were on point. The dough tastes great. I bet their full pizza would be even better since it'll be more fresh. Slices have to be heated up so it's not as hot as I would like it. Overall we'd come back! read more
