Finally got to try Pinsa Rossa and it did not disappoint! This was my first time trying Roman-style pinsa and I'm already planning my next visit. We started with the crispy brussels sprouts and little gem caesar - both great appetizers. Then we got in on the pinsas! We ordered the Heavenly Mushrooms, Prosciutto & Burrata, and Meat Lovers. The Prosciutto & Burrata was hands down my favorite -the burrata and balsamic drizzle are chef's kiss. Disclaimer: I don't eat pizza too often. I think the pizza (well, technically Pinsa but this is really like a somewhat thick and fluffy pizza so I'll call it a pizza and compare it to pizzas) is not bad. Tried the Gorgonzola, Truffle Cheeks, La Mortazza, and Summer Crush. The flavors can be unique. I don't see fruit often as a topping, but I think they did it well here. The Gorgonzola is really funky, but the pear really balances the funk well but I wish there were more pears. Summer Crush is also pretty good. La Mortazza was my personal favorite. I'm not a crust enjoyer. I thought there was a bit too much crust on some pieces. This is a 4 star because while it was good, I thought it was just maybe a bit above average. The only other pizza I've been to is Tony's, and Pinsa Rossa is far better in my opinion. Though, the Chicago pizza (Lou Malnati's) I had was probably better than here. read more

As with most other places in SF, parking is limited street parking in the area. They recently won #1 pinsa in the US so I was curious to check it out. Interior is cozy but not too spacious. We sat in the bar. Service was friendly and efficient. Their pinsas are generously sized with plenty of toppings. The crust is super crispy yet light and not too doughy on the inside. Fancy margherita: their tomato sauce is delicious, and the pesto was a great addition. I do wish there was some more basil however - I barely tasted any basil flavor. We both liked the prosciutto & burrata more as it was a good mix that wasn't too healthy and not too light with meat and veggies. The spicy Soppressata wasn't spicy at all in our opinion until I added chili oil which they offer. I absolutely love me a weekend happy hour- especially one with a pretty full food and drink menu. They have daily happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Everything on the happy hour menu is nine dollars including house wines, starters, and an array of personal pizzas. From the happy hour alone, I had a glass of Prosecco, a Burrata and bread dish, and we tried three different types of their personal pizzas which were all a decent size. I hate how usually even artisanal pizza, there is a floppy center, and loved how well the entire pizza here holds up and is the perfect amount of crisp throughout. A generous portion as well for nine dollars. They also have some dessert items on the happy hour menu, which we didn't get to try. All three pizzas we had were really flavorful. We enjoyed the pepperoni and sausage pizza, the mushroom pizza, and the pesto and potato pizza. The only thing I ordered from the regular menu was the beet salad - personally I like that it was mainly beets with a small amount of arugula; sprinkled with goat cheese My husband appreciated that almost other beers were local beers on tap, though not included on the happy hour menu. Walking from the Ferry Building to Pac Heights while pushing a 20lb dog in a stroller up those steep hills calls for a carbo-liscious meal. And I knew the pizzas at Pinsa Rosa would get the job done. We first started with the caprese, which had an award winning burrata. It was so refreshing! The tomatoes were juicy and sweet. The burrata was creamy, and the balsamic added a tangy finish. The broccolini was roasted perfectly, with its smoky notes complementing the lemony dressing and garlic confit. As for the pizza, we opted for the cacio e pepe tartufata, which is under their pinsa blanca menu. It had the flavors of a cacio e pepe pasta, with its pecorino cream and black pepper. And the black truffles added a rich umami flavor. Despite these strong flavors, they all balanced out with not one overpowering the other. It was delicious! And the pinsa dough was light and airy, with a golden brown crust that gave a satisfying bite. Pinsa Rossa is one of my favorite places to eat in Pac Heights. Came here while on a trip after a long day of walking. The restaurant, while smaller on the inside, is lit up beautifully thanks to huge windows. The staff serves us pretty quickly, and continually refilled our water (needed after walking so many hills!). I ordered the prosciutto and burrata pizza, which came pre-sliced. Interestingly enough, my friend who had the pepperoni pizza had his come unsliced (with a cleaver to cut it)! The pizza was great, with wonderfully creamy burrata. It's not a huge space, a small upstairs and a tight downstairs seating area. The outdoor seating adds on a good amount of tables too, but I'd only want to sit out there in nice weather. Service was friendly and attentive, waters were always filled and our server came multiple times to check on us. We started with the brussels sprouts and the caesar salad, both of which caught us off guard with how good they were. The brussels sprouts were soooo charred and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, it was literally my ideal brussels sprout. It was seasoned so well and the spicy aioli it came with added a nice bite to it. The caesar salad was simple yet the high quality ingredients shone through. The lettuce was crisp and cold, the dressing was generous, and the bits of cheese and croutons added nice flavor and texture. We already decided we would come back after we had the apps! We split the veggie option of the potato and pesto pizza, which was interesting, but not my favorite. I didn't think the potato added anything to the pizza, honestly the texture and flavor threw me off. The pesto was alright, needed more lemon juice, garlic, and salt to bring out its flavor. I did like the texture of the crust, it had a great chew and airy texture. Their chili oil did improve the flavor of the pizza, so we did doctor it into something we enjoyed.
