    House Club

Visited on a Saturday for lunch. We ordered the Caesar salad with sardines, the House Club sandwich, and the Benedict. Everything tasted ok, nothing stood out though. Staff were friendly and service was good.

House Potato Salad - you should like vinegar if you order this.

Still delicious! Their matzo ball soup didn't have much chicken in it today. Maybe 1-2 strands which is but $12 for a bowl isn't terrible, just wish there was at least a decent portion of chicken. One of the BEST things about this place is the bread they get from rise up bakery. It's has sesame seeds and is one of the best taking breads I've ever had. I almost wish they sold the bread alone here. Their Italian sandwich was probably the best sandwich I've had in the last year. Such a pleasant surprise. It is in the shade so even if it's a hot a$$ day in SF like today, it'll still get a good breeze and be cooler! They do however need to upgrade their outdoor tables. One slight tap with your leg and the table goes crashing down.

We came here for dinner, and were immediately welcomed by the staff. They were so kind and told us about their story as we sat down, and gave us recommendations for our order. The restaurant is a little area, and reminds me of a home. When we placed our orders, it only took about ten to fifteen minutes before the food came out. The food overall was great! I initially got the wrong item, but the server caught it and I was given the right dish about fifteen minutes after. I loved the grains in my chicken dish, and my friends' dumplings were also very soft and pillowy. I appreciate the homeyness of Iggy's and would recommend others try as well.

This is a really nice brunch cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating. Water is self serve but you can order at the table. I like that they accept the Blackbird pay which is the loyalty program I use. I was here because of the Dia de Los Muertos event I heard about from Supervisor Connie Chan's email newsletter. My friend and I really enjoyed our brunch and the event down the street. This is my first time having potato latkes which is like hash brown with apple sauce.

The hostess and server were so sweet and were always cheerful when talking to us. The food was amazing, comforting and just all around delicious. Their ingredients also tasted very fresh and made with care. We got the corned beef hash with jalapeño cilantro sauce on top. For snackies we got the latkes, which are potato pancakes and came with two sauces. Definitely try this place for brunch on Balboa if you like warm and fresh brekky on a heated outdoor patio!

    Italian Sandwich

Came here with a friend to quick catch-up brunch. We ordered 2 sandwiches and the borscht soup. The sandwiches were neatly cut into halves so of course we had to swap our halves so we each can have a different sandwich! The sandwiches were good. It was nice and hearty but doesn't have the flavor that I'm used to from a sandwich like this. I would have wanted a savory sauce or a dressing? Just needed a little bit more. I'm willing to come back to try another sandwich because it was still a good sandwich. The soup was ok and it was definitely better with the sour cream that they provide. I couldn't pick up much flavor from it but this is my first time having borscht so I have nothing to compare it to. The waitress was extremely nice and helpful! My friend was using a new method of paying and she made sure everything went smoothly!

Italian hoagie (no mozz and roasted red peppers on the side) and potato salad

I ordered take out from here on a whim. I ordered the Italian hoagie and a side of the potato salad. Everything was great. The sandwich was well constructed and held up well even after traveling via delivery. All of the modifications (no mozz and roasted red peppers on the side) were honored. The potato salad was really good and didn't taste too mayo-y yet was still well dressed. Definitely planning to try this place in person.

Such a great, casual brunch or lunch spot in the area! We were coming out of the Legion of Honor museum and finishing up a Lands End Hike when we discovered this place nearby. We enjoyed every dish we tried. The cuisine seems to be Eastern European inspired and every dish features high quality ingredients and generous portions. You will not leave this place hungry! There's outdoor and indoor seating options and the service is friendly and fast. We were very pleased. Thanks for the great meal!

Brisket Sandwich. My Bestie ordered this and said it was delicious.

Very cute quaint neighborhood cafe. Love that they have indoor and outdoor seating. Thoughtful food. Kind and helpful service. Sandwiches are a bit pricey but they're also huge and made with quality ingredients, local bread, and generous portions of meat. The pickles here are also terrific. With that being said, well worth it in my opinion. These sandwiches are big enough to share especially if you're wanting other stuff like soup or salad. I ordered the club and it was fantastic. I love that they put it on this beautiful crusty roll rather than the standard three pieces of sliced bread that it typically goes on. I know it's traditional, but I've always hated that extra piece of bread in the middle. To me, that extra piece of bread always just makes the sandwich look bigger and somewhat aesthetically appealing but when you eat it it's really nothing more than a filler. The bread they use on this sandwich.. way better!! We also shared the arugula salad with beets, Gorgonzola, candied walnuts, and sunflower vinaigrette. The dressing was delicate and unique, and the salad had lots of delicious beets. I like a little bit more acid and tang in my vinaigrette but this was still lovely. This salad also eats like a meal itself. If I lived in this neighborhood, I would come here for lunch all the time. The half and half is a great option. There is no kid's menu here which isn't the end of the world. That being said, since there isn't a kid's menu, it would be a great consideration to add a smaller portion for little ones. Like pancakes and French toast. The order for pancakes is HUGE and way too big for a 3 year old. Those can easily be made into a smaller order. I know it's often a pain in the butt to serve children. They're loud, messy, and children's menu's are typically cheaper. I get it. But they are people and they do have to eat so it would be nice to have a few offerings suitable for them. The pancakes were quite delicious but the syrup was off to me. It was very thin and cloying. Not like maple syrup. It tasted artificial like it was made with Aspartame or nutrasweet. I don't typically like fruit on pancakes but the fruit on these pancakes were exceptional. Fresh strawberries and blackberries. Maybe tossed with a little sugar? Not sure but it was delicious. I will have to come back to try the matzoh ball soup. Unfortunately, we just didn't have enough room. Great neighborhood spot.

Unfortunately, the food does not meet up to the expectations listed in the owner's replies on yelp or descriptions on their own site. My girlfriend and I decided to try a new spot since we were in the area. Iggy's Place was nearby and we love supporting family owned businesses and decided to give it a shot. The price was high for two sandwiches ($20 each) and an order of fries ($9). Reading the reviews gave us a preconceived quality to expect. When picking up, the restaurant was empty. I was immediately greeted by staff and was told they were just waiting on one more item to complete the order. The order was placed to-go since we wanted to eat at home to have a quick meal before working on school work. After digging in to the food we were immediately disappointed with what we received. The description of the fries online state, "herbs and garlic confit served with sriracha aioli." To my surprise the fries were plain, with just salt and pepper, with a side of ketchup and the aioli. The bread for the Ruben that I had ordered was completely burnt. It was difficult to discern any of the flavor of the ingredients inside due to the overwhelming charred taste. Overall the food was lacking in depth of flavor and came off very one note. I did not call the restaurant or return for a refund as it was a 20 minute drive, not accounting for the rain. We ate the food because we were already hungry, and it would been very inconveniencing to drive another 20 minutes back to the restaurant and then wait somewhere else for something different to eat. The ingredients may be high quality, but what matters most is the quality of the food that is served to the customer. Being that the Ruben was $20, served on burnt bread, despite having little to no business at the time is kind of crazy. We most likely will not be trying this restaurant again.

Saw great reviews for this place and today I found out why. The sandwich I ordered was fantastic in terms of taste, construction, and textures. The Italian: A I grew up eating a lot of mortadella sandwiches so this definitely hit the spot. It's salty but balances out quite well with the mozzarella, lettuce, and tomato. The sesame bread they used is soft and easy to bite into. And they have a mayo/sauce that tastes very delicious. I ordered online and it was ready in 10 minutes as promised. $19 for a sandwich after tax is a bit pricey but you're paying for quality here and they met my expectations.

    Beef Tongue Sandwich
    Naomi T.

I went to this quaint little shop months ago and didn't expect much. I noticed they had a beef tongue sandwich on their menu so I got that. It was cold, refreshing and impressively tender. If it weren't for the veggies and bread, I probably didn't even have to chew. Speaking of bread, their buns are super fresh, as are the rest of their ingredients. I've since tried all their sandwiches and they're all amazing. However, the beef tongue will always be my favorite. I can't find anything like it at other shops so I hope this place is here forever.

You either have reservations or you're a walk in and you stand in line until a table is available for you. At first this was strange, but I think it makes for a better experience. The team was incredible, they were so kind on a day that can be stressful for a small restaurant. We had incredible food. I was so happy to get my Eggs Royale and my husband said the French toast was the best he's ever had. (Even comparing it to French toast in Paris) No notes. This will be our Mother's Day place going forward next time with reservations.

It seems like this place is an asian fusion brunch place incorporating french dishes into thai/asian themed dishes which is up our alley. We made a reservation at 1:45 PM and we had to wait for about an extra 30 minutes before getting seated. Initially, I wanted to try their crab fried rice but unfortunately they were out of crab. We decided to get the Alcatraz Escape and the Brioche french toast which were recommended by the wait staff. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating but I can tell they were swamped and stressed out with all the people they were trying to serve. The food itself tasted decent, the Alcatraz Escape had a tasty flavor which incorporates tom yum paste (sweet, sour, tangy flavor) into their scramble with about 4 shrimps. The side of crispy chicken was good but nothing that stood out to us. The brioche was soft but there wasn't much flavoring besides the fruits and caramelized banana. It was served with evaporated milk which made the brioche soft but not adding much flavor to it. The price however was quite pricey. For two dishes as a side we paid around $78 with tax and tip.

It was my daughter's first time and she loved it just as much as I did. We came during restaurant week so we decided to get the Creole Sampler so she could try a bunch of different items. (Sampler included red beans and rice, collard greens, fried catfish, hush puppies, plain beignet and gumbo). We also ordered the beignet flight and shrimp and grits. Plenty of food for the 2 of us, plus we had left overs. I can't not order the shrimp and grits. It's just so damn good! It's so rich and flavorful! It came out SUPER hot. Grits and cheese still bubbling. My daughter and I were both surprised she liked the collard greens. She's usually not a fan. She also liked the red beans and rice and she doesn't usually like beans either. That just goes to show how amazing the food is here! We came in around 4something pm on a rainy Sunday. There weren't many people there, but by the time we left it was more than half full. Service was friendly, and there was a band playing, which was a nice touch.
