Go for the show as much as the food. Been a customer of this all-night diner since it was catty-corner from PamPam (more reasonable option). Infamous for a murder over a poached egg order in 1997, it's still pretty chaotic but quite safe. I am positively addicted to sausage and eggs, but friends love the burger and country fried steak. Great option post-theater. Can get quite crowded but staff is a machine; fascinating to watch.

The food was good no complaints from a family with a teen and a little. Our 6 year old asked to go back every day. Service was diner service with such a sweet lady who helped us. Ambience was diner ambience lol.

Late night after my friend's birthday we went here to eat! I got the code blue burger, which has bacon, crumbled blue cheese, onion rings, and bbq sauce. Burger was good! Just be careful with the service and look at your bill, our waiter charged us incorrectly until I pointed it out.

There is nothing like a good Diner, especially one thats been around for a long time and still gets packed. My friend took me here before we played tourist guide to out of town guests. Staff here are great and up beat. Service is fast and they dont rush you for the bill. There is a variety on the menu, but I ordered the Spanish omitted and a side of chicken apple sausage. My friend had never seen me eat so was surprised when I scarfed down the whole platter. The food was pretty good for diner fare and im looking forward to going back.

We had breakfast here while staying in the area so it was a short walk from our hotel. We waited in line for a little bit before being seated. We ordered and our food came out pretty quickly. I enjoyed the food very much, it was very good. Our coffee was refilled often. The inside diner was an old comfort vibe. Overall a nice experience.

I love 24-hour diners and have been curious about this place for a while now. Dropped in on the Saturday evening of the Chinese New Year parade to get some food before watching the parade and our timing was perfect, because every seat in the house was taken except for the table that was just clearing as we walked in. It was a really busy evening for the staff, but they handled the crowd well and kept people moving in and out of the place pretty efficiently. But bear in mind that it's a pretty tiny restaurant and not ideal for groups larger than four. I ordered the tuna salad sandwich with a side of fries and also got a small bowl of their chili con carne on the side. The food came out fast, despite the sheer amount of activity going on in the kitchen, and I was pretty happy with my meal. Nothing fancy, nothing complicated -- just a good, basic tuna salad sandwich with celery, red onions, and mayo, topped with some lettuce and tomato. The fries were really good and had great flavor. The chili was just ok though. Certainly not the worst I've ever had, but was just kind of mid and forgettable. While I'd order the sandwich and fries again, I don't think I'd need to order the chili again. We were in and out pretty quickly. This is your typical no frills, straight forward diner experience, with breakfast and lunch available all day and dinner available from 5:00-9:00. There's a lot to choose from on the menu and enough to have me intrigued and wanting to return to try some other things. Recommend checking it out if you're in the area.

My daughter had a layover in San Francisco at the Westin St. Francis, and this was the closest spot within walking distance for breakfast--so it was an easy choice. This is exactly what you'd expect from a classic diner. The inside has that nostalgic, old-school feel, the service was quick and efficient, and the coffee was just good, no-frills diner coffee. I ordered an omelette and they followed my instructions perfectly--it was delicious and very filling. My daughter had the huevos rancheros, which tasted great but was definitely a bit messy to eat. Overall, it was a solid, satisfying breakfast that hit the spot. Nothing over the top, but exactly what we needed.

Great that its open 24 hours on the weekends. Got seated pretty fast but the diner was full and it took a while to order food. Some things got missed on the order. Orange juice is overly sweet. French toast was alright. Only 2 full pieces of bread. Bacon and pancakes were great. After we finished our dinner, it took a long time time to see our server to be able to get the check.

A late-night stop after the sparkle and drama of Moulin Rouge on Broadway--exactly the kind of night Pinecrest Diner was made for. I had the Pinecrest Burger, my best friend went for the patty melt, and both were pure comfort done right--simple, satisfying, and unmistakably good. The kind of food that grounds you after a long, magical evening. The diner vibe never gets old: warm lights, classic booths, and that timeless feeling that you're exactly where you're supposed to be. The staff, as always, were genuinely friendly and welcoming, even late into the night. This was my second time here, and Pinecrest Diner still doesn't disappoint. Reliable, nostalgic, and full of heart--one of those places that quietly becomes part of your city story.

for a 24 hour diner, the food here is pretty good. i like the chili cheese fries the most!! this place was right next to our hotel so it was so convenient to grab a late dinner. service is a lil slow but very friendly! i appreciate the staff and esp the 24 hour hours super casual diner. feels cozy and familiar. like you can spill all sorts of secrets with each other over there.

TL:DR - order the club sandwich This is a seriously delicious sandwich. Probably one of the better clubs you will find. Service - when the Curran theatre is running best to get here early cause this place will fill up Pro tip - for 7 pm shows get here by 5:30 minimum.

Stopped by Pinecrest Diner after watching Paranormal Activity at the Toni Rembe Theater. We came in around 10 PM and it was already pretty busy. They're open 24 hours on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, which I found was a bit bland. The mozzarella sticks were good though, just a little pricey. Overall, it's a solid spot if you're looking for late-night bites in the area.

Came here on a Saturday night at 2am and it was a full house! Service was a really slow, flagged down the waiter a few times and were told someone else was servicing our booth and still had to wait almost 30 min. Otherwise food was still solid and hit the spot when nothing else is open/around Not in the best location, borders the Tenderloin!

Still open, not 24 hrs at the moment.

Will Pinecrest ever go back to being open 24 hours?

Probably! Most likely had to change their hours to accommodate for the pandemic. They are well known for being open 24 hours :)

High ratings, few reviews, but we were adventurous and decided to try it, glad we did. Ingredients is on a corner, looked relatively new from the outside LED "Open" sign prominent in the window. Once we walked in, however, we entered a different world from what we were expecting. Luxurious mustard seats, lots of tables for four, seating with high gray bench banquettes, reminding me of a 70s tune ("Diamonds in the back..."); retro vibe elegantly done with modern lighting and sconces. Not cheesy by any stretch, but in a neighborhood place you could wear sweats or a suit to eat at. Our waiter was Jackie, an enthusiastic young man who seemed like he wasn't just there to wait on tables. Throughout the evening he was easy to chat with while being knowledgeable about his food he served without being condescending. He made someone unfamiliar with the menu feel new-to-us dishes weren't going to be an experiment. We ordered the beet salad, the 8 ounce hamburger with fries, the mushroom risotto, and on Jackie's recommendation the Nepal BBQ ribs. In the meantime they served us house made brioche buns-warm, soft, delicate and chewy, flaky; reminded me of Texas Roadhouse buns, but far better. Served with a little olive oil and balsamic in a separated dish, you could eat them plain and enjoy the craftsmanship of baked excellence. We wanted more but in retrospect we would've been filled up with brioche and not enjoyed the meal. Tough choice. The roasted beet salad, served with shaved fennel, a beet balsamic jus, and an apple-citrus slaw that was fresh, sweet with hints of citrus offset by the fennel so it wasn't cloyingly sweet. The textures were enjoyable-the softness of the beets with the crunch of the fennel slaw, we anxiously cleaned the plate! Next came the risotto and the burger. What was enjoyable was the mushroom risotto-a refreshing presentation of toothsome Arborio, creamy yet firm, interplaying with a variety of mushrooms that immediately became one of the better risotto we've had, texturally excellent, not one note like most risotto, it came out hot but not searing; deft hands created a concoction that kept us going back for more. The burger was simple, cooked medium, but one of the best we've had in a very long time. We should qualify the burger as a cheeseburger as we were given a choice- bleu cheese or cheddar, we chose the bleu cheese and it was a good choice, just the right amount complimenting the veggies that came with burger. Oh, the fries-skinny, perfectly fried they stayed equally crunchy from first to last, served in a mini fry basket that was cute but it also showed they meant business, these fries were better than that Irish fast food place, and aren't they the iconic standard of French fries? IMO Ingredients is now the new standard. They were served with house made ketchup, excellent with or without. The ribs came last originally accompanied by a Mac and cheese but since we ordered risotto they served the ribs separately with a slaw. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone, but a little more savory than sweet , served with just enough sauce to accompany the ribs without being messy, easy enough to eat using knife and fork, the kicker was a hint of five spice, subtle enough if it's in your background, but not an annoyance if it's not. Flavorful, hearty, filling, delicious, We ended our meal with a homemade "apple pie," a creation made of thinly sliced apples, perhaps poached, with cinnamon, cardamom, allspice, along with fresh fruit, and a yummy scoop of "creamy"mango sorbet. Lots of surprising good vibes-no crust, all apple, not heavy; the mix of spices played well with each other; mango sorbet wasn't icy like sorbets tend to be, the fresh fruits added a touch of freshness to the dish that could have been sweet-centric, but not. A delicate yet satisfying end to a delicious meal. We met the chef, Sok, at the end of our meal, who had his culinary training n Kathmandu and expanded his repertoire in his world travels. He definitely knows how to elevate a good meal, and his Nepal and French influences add an understated flair to what he cooks. Sok takes tremendous pride in what he presents to the diner, evidenced by who he hires, and how each dish is presented. Dining in Ingredients is gratifying, from the dining room to the staff to the dishes themselves. More people should give Ingredients a try, a gem of a neighborhood find, a rarity in SF! Thank you so much, we have a new favorite restaurant!

I was satisfactorily full, as I felt like the four plates were just a bit larger than tapas size. The mid-August options I'd chosen were - minestrone soup (4/5) - calamari risotto (5/5) - crispy pork schnitzel (3/5) - chamomile panna cotta (5/5) - buttered sourdough (5/5) The minestrone soup had a great creamy base with the mousse on top. Calamari risotto was delicious, creamy, soft rice, and it had a rich seafood flavor. You can tell the chef added plentiful seafood and the calamari was chewy. Crispy pork schnitzel came with a delicious mustard jus, just a little too salty for my liking. Chamomile panna cotta was probably my favorite, creamy with a subtle chamomile flavor that made it a great ending for the meal. The only thing is the timing of the food coming out was a bit slow, as there were intervals of 30 minutes in between courses. Otherwise service was exceptional and always made their rounds refilling our wine and water!

Came with a few friends later in the evening on Sunday as a walk-in and was seated within about 30 minutes. We started with the duck egg shakshuka, which was excellent. The bread was perfect for scooping everything up, and our server brought us more after we finished the first round--a small but appreciated touch. The Yaya's fried chicken had great flavor, but at $33, it felt a little underwhelming for what you get. Well-seasoned and enjoyable, just not as memorable as the rest of the meal. The pork chop was the standout and easily one of the best I've had recently. Corn was in season, and the pairing worked beautifully. The pork was cooked perfectly and consistently flavorful throughout. The meal reminded me a bit of Liholiho, so I naturally compared the two. WHAT WE GOT: duck egg shakshuka, salmon crudo, bread & butter, tagliatelle, grilled broccoli, apricot tart PROS: good lord the flavor of some of these dishes was insanely good and you could really taste the freshness of the ingredients. my favorite of the night was probably the shakshuka, but that's just cause i'm a tomato gal and i love a good dippable dish. the grilled broccoli was also super lemony which balanced out the heaviness of the tagliatelle nicely and complimented it nicely. service was top notch, our table was literally never dirty because of how often they came by to clear things away or wipe things down. overall good experience. CONS: now ok...once again i know this is san francisco but if i'm paying $21 for a shakshuka, i'm expecting it to be at least enough food to feed maybe 4 people. imagine my surprise when this dish came out and the shakshuka was sitting in a bowl that was about the size of a candle jar lid....and like 2 pieces of bread. i'm sorry for $21????? that's criminal. as good as all the food was, NOPA felt like a one time deal for me because i quite literally can't justify the price to portion size ratio. also it was so incredibly loud in there, i could barely hear my husband talk from across the table. those tables are packed TIGHT.
