Came here for breakfast since it was walking distance from our hotel and had that diner vibe we were feeling. The cafe was cute and cozy and decorated for fall, which really added to the cool morning feel. Menu had a variety of Benedicts, omelets, and other breakfast classics. We went with the Corned beef sunrise benedict and Classic breakfast with over easy eggs. It wasn't very crowded but the food took a while to come out. Nothing was all that impressive, the bacon was disappointing, a little dry and overcooked, and the potatoes were pretty bland and a little hard, definitely could've been cooked longer and crisped up quite a bit. I think the reason I had never tried this cafe before was because I surmised it was a tourist magnet. After all, it occupies a prime corner location on Powell Street just up the hill from Union Square. The cable car even stops in front, so why wouldn't tourists want to have breakfast here before tackling Fisherman's Wharf? Well, let's just say there were plenty of selfie takers in the place. I waited for a huge family to be seated before the server pointed me to a vacant table for two. I didn't waste much time in deciding what I wanted. First, I ordered the $6 Cafe au Lait (Photo 10) because the house coffee just wouldn't do. It was fine, but the $19 Napa Omelet just didn't sit well with me. I made the selection so I have to take some accountability. Some but not all. I was intrigued by the sautéed apples and brie cheese folded into my eggs. The mushrooms and almonds were more of a question mark, but the cilantro I knew I had to pull that off. It all would've worked better as a crepe with a less opinionated cheese. The eggs came with sourdough toast and red potatoes that could've spent more time on the grill (Photo 9). Decent but not my favorite breakfast. By far the best Corned Beef Hash I've ever had. Very unexpected tasty diner. Since it's in the middle of a very touristic area I didn't think much of it till I tried. I strongly recommend it. Service was very nice. Food was super good and prices were very affordable. I even got mimosas! We're in San Francisco for two days before we head off to Hawaii, and today decided to walk to Roxanne's for breakfast. Our favorite person still works here. Consuelo has been here for 23 years. She's always there when we come in, she always greets us with a warm welcoming hug hello. Many hugs I might add. Consuelo always gives us great service. After 23 years, Consuelo remembers us and our names. When she's not busy, she brings us water, coffee refills a plenty and our breakfast and her great conversation. We came on a busy Sunday but there was no wait which was great. Service was poor however, our waitress did not speak good English and initially brought matcha instead of mocha, even regular coffee didn't come until the food (would have been nice to sip while waiting), no refills on water or coffee. My self and my partner were visiting from out of town. let's me just start off with the services was absolutely amazing the lady was very friendly and personable it's felt like a local spot. Was here couple of days to celebrate a friend's birthday. To my surprise, this little gem serves some pretty good food. I had the salmon that night and it was cooked perfectly. My friend had pork chop, it was a bit overcooked. The garlic shrimp, bruschetta and Cesar salad were delicious. The only down side is the parking. Hard to find street parking. I had to parked in the garage and it cost me $40 to park for 3 hours. The owner also owns the bar next door so we went and had a drink after dinner which is a plus. Had breakfast there yesterday on Saturday we ordered eggs bacon and pancakes when they bought out the plate the bacon looks undercooked and was a odd color and had a odd smell so we asked them to cook the bacon more it's still did not taste right but my husband ate it. Really glad we picked this spot for breakfast during our short stay in the city. We both got the same thing, the Corned Beef Sunrise, cause how could you pass up house made hash!? Everything about the meal was fantastic and just the right amount of food. Needing some caffeine after a late night out, the iced dirty chai was perfectly balanced and hit the spot. I could argue it was one of the best I've tried. My boyfriend had an espresso shot he said was really good. We appreciated getting a good spot at the window, getting to people watch and enjoy watching a bustling city. I think the service could have been a little faster, but it was our first time here and honestly I'd much prefer feeling relaxed and not rushed to finish my meal and get out. We're visiting from out of town and have eaten here two days in a row. Day one was the Sonoma Omelet and the Corned Beef Sunrise. Both were enjoyable and the flavors mixed well. Second day was the American breakfast sandwich and the Denver Omelet. We liked what we chose on day 2 better. As mentioned in the other reviews, the bacon is dry, and ask for crispy potatoes. But, to liken it to a Denny's is just wrong. Our concierge mentioned that San Francisco is a city where English is no ones first language. You're going to find accents everyone you go here. This charming cafe brought us in to select from a traditional American menu, from the first to the last morning of our stay at the Orchard Hotel, just around the corner. Staff are exceptional in their attention and service to customers, from the host to server, each is as friendly and personable as the next. My husband and I enjoy friendly and warm people making up for the colder weather in San Francisco. The menu selections we chose were each are delicious and beautifully prepared.
