Took mommy out for lunch. Tommy Joint Restaurant in San Francisco with a full bar. Landmark building with the original menu for 75 years. Bartender and Server - Dearest, he was amazing in making all the drinks and recommending what to eat. Vodka Soda - Extra Lime Mexican Coffee Buffalo Chili with Sauage Spaghetti with Meat Sauce The deco is so old fashion. Picture and displays are all antique. It is a must visit.

Fun late night place to eat after watching a show. However, the neighborhood is so bad! A homeless drug addict chased us out of our parking space around the corner from the restaurant. So we zoomed off and came back around for the parking space. All clear. We parked and cautiously walked to the restaurant. We walked in, oh, its a hofbrau! Never knew that. Every protein was stacked up with so many options. The staff was friendly and took our orders. :) BBQ brisket plate with mash potatoes and coleslaw - mash was wonderful, the brisket was tender but the slaw could had used more sweetness and tang. 4 Stars :) Cornbread plate with mash and slaw. The cornbread was very good. 4 Stars The decor was flea market whacky. Definitely had its own personality in a cool way. Glad I was finally able to try this institution of San Francisco. Just be careful of the craizies outside.

Tommy's Joint is a San Francisco Institution. When I first moved to SF around 2005 one of my first outings to a restaurant was Tommy's. I had a delicious hot roast beef sandwich covered in gravy. It was one of the most comforting dishes I have ever had. I remember coming to Tommy's many times over the last two decades and trying everything from their oxtail stew to their meatloaf to their lasagna. Everything here is good! On my most recent visit I got to try their lamb shank with boiled potatoes and carrots. The lamb shank perfectly fell off the bone and the fat melted in your mouth. The gravy was very flavorful. The only thing I found underwhelming were the potatoes as they could've cooked a little longer. The service at the counter is always very good and quick! These guys have been working this counter for a long time. The place still feels a little like a dive bar, but that's all part of the charm of this historical eatery.

Tommy's Joynt is hands down the best hoftsbrau in San Francisco. Its ample portion lend well to sharing meals, and I only learned about the "Slim Plate" after I ordered but I am definitely getting it next time. For sides, I got a scoop of stuffing (divine and exactly the right amount) and broccoli (okay with a dash of salt and pepper). I asked for beef jus on the broccoli and got turkey with gravy as my main. The turkey was substantial if a little dry. My friend got the lean barbecue brisket with mashed potatoes and broccoli. He's a regular and says order is always solid. I would come again to try the pastrami sandwich. Inside it's a bit like an old timey bar, with picnic cloth tables. There is an extremely large indoor area and tons of old signs and photographs. The there is also free pickles if that's your thing. The guys behind the counter are super nice.

Today had lunch at Tommy's Joynt. The selections for lunch was great! You can have a sandwich or a meal. The service was great, you stand in line and chose your protein and your two sides. The portions were huge and the decor was fun and colorful!

It's a really good thing those Vuori joggers have an elastic waistband because today, my teen son met his Waterloo. The quality, the quantity, the delectably carved deliciousness of BEEF. Yeah, he opted for "double" meat and he ate all of it including the sides. It easily could have fed a family of 4. Mind you, if you were in the pool 3 hours a day for a swim team, then in the gym lifting weights and on the rowing machine and treadmill you too could eat like this. For the rest of us mortals like me, I had the corned beef and rice, delicious. I didn't care for the stuffing though it's the owner's Turkish recipe. The service was amazing, they offered my son extra food if he wanted it -maybe they were simply amazed- and were all around perfect hosts in this great eatery. Fancy, it's not, it's a place to get home cooked food at a great price. I leaned into the dark, cozy Hofbrau atmosphere. Want a great roast beef sandwich au jus, got you covered. Want turkey dinner or lamb shank- maybe you're in the mood for some brisket? Mashers, rice? How about lasagna? It's a carnivore's dream and Tommy's Joynt's been servin' it up since the 40s. While dining, my son sent out the signal and some choice photos to his friends on the 'Gram. They're ALL coming! Keep it comin', we'll be back. Lots of flatscreen TVs, choice beers and full bar for Game Day or whatever holiday or day of the week you might be celebrating!

Great place to come after a drunken night. We came here recently after a couple bars and man is this place nice. First I live how homey the inside is. If I remember right my friends told me this place has a lot of history. This particular night I ordered the BBQ Sandwich. It was good but I was jealous of my girls Beef Brisket. I feel like you get a ton of food when you go the dinner plate route. Lots of flavor from the juice/sauce and the meat was perfectly tender. I really wanna come back and try it sometime when Im not completely messed up haha

SUCH A COOL SPOT!! Legit spot with no extra frills. Super reasonable prices for delicious food and generous portions, wide selection of both food and beers, and LOVED the decor in the place - so many cool finds hanging from the ceiling and domestic and international beer signage from around the world! I'll be back and bring more friends!!

I came in for lunch with a friend. You order with the person behind the counter and pay at the end of the line. They also had slices of cakes for sale. We shared the $26 Jack Tar Special sampler plate which comes with 2 oz of each meat and 2 sides. The meats were okay. The flavor could have been better. The brisket is very tender. It was breaking as I was trying to pick it up with my fork. The macaroni salad was also okay. I didn't like the turkey stuffing.

Behind the counter, they have slow-smoked meats like beef brisket, corned beef, pastrami, turkey, and ham. There's also spaghetti and meatballs if you want pasta. It's cafeteria-style where you pick out your food choices and they serve your plate on a tray as you move it along the counter and then pay when you get to the end. The tables are first come first serve and there aren't any waiters so if you need something you get up and get it. There's a full bar for libations and TV screens broadcasting the latest games.

Liked going here! The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful :) Cool exterior and interior with all of the retro decor and dark lighting. Got a roast beef sandwich for ~$10. For the sandwiches, the bread size is the same, you're paying more or less for how much meat you want. Sandwich is just beef, what sauce you want, and I got au jus too. Its simple but I liked it! Au jus had great flavor and its a lot of meat on bread. Would recommend going here for the no frills experience :)

In a world where trendy is the norm, it's refreshing to walk in and get something you're craving without a lot of fanfare. Tommy's delivers this and a sense of comfort along with a beer collection to browse. I came in and read the familiar menu, recognizable from my years as a kid coming here with my folks, after seeing a show. Wow! Talk about nostalgia! I ordered the roast beef sandwich with horseradish and a side of aujus to dip my bread in. Perfect. Thank you Tommy's for being a rare institution in a city of constant change!

Is there on site parking? If not where is it best to park?

They have lots of parking on streets and in the garage next door, across the street

I was there last night and they took a credit card. No Apple cash though.

Are you very busy tonight with the super bowl going on?

    Who cares?

Is Tommys Joynt open on Christmas Day?

Tommy's Joynt is open 364 days a year and closed, unfortunately, on Christmas Day.

How late do they serve hot food?

I believe its very late. I went at 2/3am and got hot food. It was also very delicious.

The staff was patient, welcoming, and happy to answer questions, and the space itself is thoughtfully designed with a clean, modern feel that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy your meal. I almost ordered the half chicken, but ended up going with the rice bowl since it had everything I wanted in one dish. It was excellent. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, the sides were fresh and vibrant, and the rich, slightly fatty rice tied everything together. It struck a great balance between hearty and refreshing, and the portion was filling without feeling heavy. At the price point, it also felt like a great value. I didn't even feel the need to reach for the hot sauce or chimichurri because the bowl stood well on its own, but both were delicious and worth trying. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to the next time I'm in Hayes Valley.

The croutons were nonexistent, I almost had to go back and ask if they could add some until I found 3-4 at the very bottom of my bowl. A lot of greens which was good, good serving there. I got a side of focaccia and that was delicious (do wish they offered to toast it a bit, it'd be that much more yummy!). The restaurant itself made a great first impression. It was clean, organized, and even had a nice little area set up for social media photos. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the presentation. I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl with Greek chicken. The chicken was dry, and it was obvious the seasoning had been sprinkled on after it was cooked instead of being cooked into the meat. I also ordered the Brussels sprouts and fried cauliflower. The Brussels sprouts looked perfectly crispy, which is exactly how they should have been, but they were soft and soggy instead. To make matters worse, the sauce was packed inside the same container, so the steam made them even soggier while also heating the small plastic sauce container inside. The fried cauliflower was equally disappointing. It looked crispy because of its golden brown color, but there wasn't a bit of crunch. Instead, it was oddly firm, almost al dente, making it feel more undercooked than fried. I also tried the garlic chicken soup, expecting something similar to Avgolemono. Instead, it was a thin, watered down broth with the same dry chicken pieces from the Mediterranean Bowl tossed in. The pita bread served with it was honestly the worst part of the meal and the only thing I threw away. Nothing was completely inedible, but for more than $60 worth of takeout, I expected food that matched the clean, inviting atmosphere of the restaurant. Sadly, this experience fell well short of that, and it's not a place I'll be returning to.

Daniel took care of us and recommended a pasta that ended up being one of the best dishes we had. His thoughtful recommendations, genuine hospitality, and warm personality elevated the entire evening and made it a truly memorable experience. We came back last night and were so excited to see Daniel again! He remembered us, made us feel incredibly welcome, and crafted an absolutely delicious lychee cocktail. Highly recommend Wildseed for both the amazing food and exceptional hospitality. A special shout-out to Daniel for always going above and beyond!

The seating is spacious and sectioned off rather than one large open dining room, which allows for different arrangements and a nice sense of privacy between groups. The downside is that this layout seems to leave patrons on the right side, behind the wooden partition, nearly forgotten. We were handed our menus and then left alone for almost 15 minutes without anyone circling back to take our order. When we finally did order, the servers brought dishes to the wrong table and couldn't keep track of who had ordered what. That said, the food, atmosphere, and location could easily make up for it, I would consider coming back if I had to return to San Francisco.
