Second trip to San Francisco from Palm Springs, and we just had to come back and show our friends from Portland that this is the place to be! There was a little wait for a table, but who cares when there are so many things to look at while you wait? We got what I'd call the "aquarium table" -- definitely the best table in the house! The service was exactly what we were looking for -- funny, witty, and knows how to make you feel welcome. Too bad I didn't get her name! And the food... PERFECT. No frills diner/breakfast spot in the heart of the Haight. If you're looking for an elevated brunch restaurant, this is NOT IT. However, if you're looking for a homey breakfast experience then I highly recommend this place. The service is great. The coffee is abundant and the food was rich and comforting. We enjoyed the Chile Piquin breakfast special and it was worth trying if you're into spicy food. The French Toast was not too decadent and also worth also trying. Twenty years ago, I lived in the upper Haight for 5 years. There where times we would eat at Pork Store weekly, along with the typical 45min-1hr wait on weekends. Yeup. I *was* that good! Whatever the nastiness they served me today was a distant universe from back then. I order the corned beef hash + short stack. There was nothing homemade about the hash. It was a pitch black smegma mass with cheese melted on top. I could not distinguish any component of it. The shredded potatoes were burned and dry AF. And the clown that cooked the pancakes, he seemed so amused as he repeatedly spanked them with the spatula. WOW! Never returning....never. If this was my restaurant, I would clean house. A complete do-over so as to resurrect this iconic establishment. read more

It is the minor details that count. The staff here are quite awesome; They gave us small coffees while we were in line outside. Most of all, I like how the food taste. The toast comes per-buttered. The pork store special's ($19) pork chops have this smokey taste while retaining some moisture. It goes well with eggs and hash browns. We tried the eggs in a tasty nest $16 for the first time. Love this breakfast spot. I would recommend to get there early right as they open. They can get a pretty long line. If you do end up in line, don't worry it goes by pretty decently. When waiting in line they offered me and others waiting some house coffee. That was really cool of them! I've been here many times and it's a go to spot for me to bring friends and family when visiting. The cook is right behind the counter cooking as you sit at your table or at the bar area. All the food is fresh and it's a great vibe inside. Although it's busy the servers are on top of it and get you whatever you need. Even if there's a line definitely wait. It's worth it. read more

Toast was amazing, the waffles were amazing. The pork was average. I make better pork at home. Sausage was good. Mashed potatoes were mid in my opinion. Too mushy. Hashbrowns were mid. This is my favorite breakfast spot in the city! Located in the Haight. They have the best omelettes and I love their fresh biscuits and the service is excellent. It's worth the wait, as we usually go on the weekends late mornings. The ambiance is kind of an old school punk hippie vibe. This was always my favorite breakfast place for years. I visited it last week nothing has changed like going back in time even the prices. The nice pink walls everything same same. The Eggs Benedict the green one with asparagus yum . It was delicious you get a choice of hash browns or grits . The grits were kinda really bland but I'm not an aficionado of grits so I cant judge. The server to me was perfect not friendly but not necessary perfectly professional , accurate and accommodating. She was running the whole room alone and kicking it. The place is the same as always lovely pink walls and a nice counter and a few tables but enough . Usually packed with a mix of locals and regulars mostly. We've been to Pork store a few times over the years and we keep going back. For the most part they serve good quality breakfast meals at reasonable prices. My all time favorite is the Chicken Fried steak but recently had the Pork Store Special. Unfortunately the pock chop was a bit dry and thin so 4 stars. I would give 5 stars for Chicken Fried Steak though! We also had the Corned Beef Hash meal which is also a 5 star. Wish I could have given five star for the pork chops. Service was great! server came quickly and was very attentive with refilling coffee cup. Not a ton of table seating but they have counter service too. Located on Haight street you get all the vibe and history of the location. But being in SF expect homeless folks as well. They are harmless and just treat them as human beings. I've eaten there a handful of times and every time something has had an off flavor or like the spinach, was just off. It doesn't matter if I order from the breakfast or lunch menu either. I think, it's the way the cooks prepare food in skillets that shouldn't be. The biscuits look like they'd be tasty, but there was that after taste and they just fell apart when I was there a couple of months ago. Wanna put butter on those? Forget about it. One of the last real greasy spoons in the city...you step into this funky beat of a joint, total bohemian punk vibes with cool music blaring, from Velvet Underground to Gorillaz to Dead Kennedys, I've come home. The seating is dire but it wouldn't feel that way if SF wasn't so damn overpopulated (this city hasn't done great after the influencer take over it's almost impossible to go anywhere soundly) But whatever, once you're in, you're hypnotized by the menu offering lots of seductive options. I settled for the chicken fried steak with over easy eggs, choice of grits and some good ole rye. So freaking yummy, the grits were obviously not great (as my friend warned ahead but I do me) but it was buttery as hell and that was a-ok with me. My family and I had breakfast here several years ago when my daughter started college. The food we had was okay at the time--three years later, we decided to try it again. Service was pretty good, and I do love the small mom-and-pop ambiance. As for the food, I had the corned beef hash plate with eggs, hash browns, and toast. Everything tasted fine except the corned beef hash. I did not taste any corned beef at all. I saw some tiny cubed potatoes, but overall, it just tasted like mushy refried beans from a can. My husband ordered the same thing, and he normally raves about corned beef hash, but he had nothing to say about this particular dish. Nothing like a hefty serving of biscuits and gravy on a dreary SF day. Came in on a rainy Saturday morning and snagged the last couple of seats at the counter. We ordered the southwest scramble, breakfast burrito, and a side of gravy to go with the biscuits that came with the scramble - a recommendation from our amazing server to save us some money and stomach room. The winners were the breakfast burrito and biscuit and gravy. The southwest scramble was also pretty good, but the other two overshadowed it for me. Positives about the scramble were that it was LOADED up with meat and that it came with hashbrowns. All food portions were super hefty though. Half of the burrito came home and sadly a bit of biscuit went uneaten. Back to our server - wow what a rad person! She was running the show, taking the time to connect with customers, keeping things moving, dealing with the homeless man that kept coming in, and doing so with a big smile and a positive attitude. Talk about stellar customer service! Overall consensus, great place to come if you want traditional and old school diner food at a reasonable price in the city.
