What a great local find. Plenty of seating for Saturday breakfast. Everything was fresh as can be. And recommend the Carnitas and Eggs

Cute decor, a bit noisy as it was right by the street. We had a lunch reservation but didn't really need one as we got seated quickly. The breakfast food was delicious (especially the potatoes). However I did get the birria tacos and they were a bit disappointing, which makes sense as they cater towards breakfast items.

The food is delicious! We got the breakfast burrito and the breakfast sandwich and both were amazing. The coffee on the other hand was 2.5/5 and the service was kinda bad. It took a while for us to even get menus after we sat then the food took a while and I got the wrong milk in my coffee. Would return for the food and probably just do take out. The ambiance was chill and was happy they didn't have a line on a Saturday!

Paula's Cafe is hands down one of the best spots to grab breakfast or lunch! The food here is absolutely amazing--fresh, flavorful, and made with care. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or bringing the whole family, this place has something for everyone. One of my absolute favorites is the horchata latte, hot or iced, it's always made perfect! The balance of cinnamon, sweetness, and espresso is just right. Beyond the food and drinks, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. They go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. Do yourself a favor and try this place out! It's in a great neighborhood too! You can shop around in the shops nearby. Great atmosphere and has both indoor and outdoor seating.

Casual cozy cafe serving breakfast and lunch dishes along with Latin American dishes. We went on a Sunday morning around 11:35 am and they were busy. While we got seated promptly, it took them a while to take our order and drinks. The waitress was very apologetic stating that they were short staffed but she was very friendly and attentive once she started to serve us. Food review: Huevos Rancheros (3.5/5): A deconstructed huevos rancheros where every item were placed next to each other on this dish. This might work for some people who want to choose what specific food items to combine together based on their own preferences, but IMO, this presentation didn't make this dish enticing. However, the salsa and fried plantains were good and the over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. Cost: $17.00 Chiliquiles Rancheros (4/5): Good combination of flavors from the crispy tortilla chips, rancheros sauce, eggs and sliced avocados on the side (with add-on: carnitas under the eggs). Cost: $21.00 Note: We originally wanted to order the loaded carnitas hash but they had run out of the crispy potatoes by 12 noon. However, the waitress stated that they could sub french fries instead of crispy potatoes for this dish. We asked the waitress if her name was Paula and she said no. She did tell us that the cafe was under new ownership.

Cat sitting nearby so came to check out Paula's cafe after almost a year. The chilaquiles were just the right amount of spicy with their house made hot sauce. The eggs over easy runny yolk gave a slight break to the spicy heat and the crunchy and soft tortilla chips gave a nice texture to the meal. The carnitas was a nice salty crunchy and juicy topping. The service was attentive and free refill of coffee was appreciated after a night of sleep interrupted by the cat getting exercise running around in the hardwood floors. Only awkward part was the seat looking out the front window was looking down into the tables right out in front of the cafe. Possibly some colorful window dressing to keep from making eye contact with the other guests would be helpful with this issue. Or is this just me?

I had walked by this cafe a number of times in the past, but I was never here when it was open. I just seem to stroll in the Lower Haight in the early evening hours since it's on my way home. I merely brushed it off before, but then I discovered this previous brunch-only restaurant was starting to serve dinner. I felt it was a sign to try it, and I'm glad I did. I ordered the $20 Salmon Plate where they provided a large portion of wild Alaskan salmon grilled and served with rice and sautéed vegetables including a couple of asparagus spears (photo: https://bit.ly/3IjGMQL). I took it home to eat it and quite enjoyed it. Go Paula, it's suppertime. FOOD - 4 stars...tasty piece of salmon well turned AMBIANCE - 4 stars...a smallish space but warm SERVICE - 4 stars...very friendly TOTAL - 4 stars...nice to have another dinner option RELATED - Exploring the Haight? Lox salad

The portion was small and they missed out the ingredients stated on the menu. I got the lox salad and the salmon was very little. They seemed to skimp on the green too. I didn't see the hard boiled egg and everything seasoning. Maybe the staff forgot them?

Paula's Cafe impresses with its Eggs Benedict, featuring perfectly poached eggs and a rich hollandaise sauce. The Lomo Saltado offers a taste of Peru with marinated steak and fries Amazing and faster service! Vibrant ambience.

Classic Benedict - 4 stars. Tasty, filling, straightforward! Just what a benedict should be. Wed lunch 2022-02-09

How long is the average wait time for a group of 4 on the weekend?

It's usually not that busy; I also came in the same situation and had no wait, so I would say 10-15 max !

They also give you complimentary taro chips. It was my friend's birthday as well so they gave us a free tres leches dessert with a candle - super cute and sweet of them! The food was delicious, and the dessert was amazing as well! The cake had a good cinnamon flavor, and was creamy and not too sweet! The dishes were also very good. My friend's dish was a bit smoky with a side of rice. My dish was a good fulfilling combination of seafood and wagyu steak, on a bed of rice. Definitely a very delicious meal! The ambiance is also very nice - the restaurant is beautifully decorated. The service was also very good :) Would definitely come back again for more meals!

As a Peruvian, I give La Mar my stamp of approval! I came with a friend and each dish was elevated…read moreand authentic! The restaurant itself, as the name implies, serves the greatest seafood hits Peru has to offer. It sits right on the SF Pier (1 and 1/2) and even has a patio overlooking the water and bougie yachts! (Super nice! Bring a jacket for the patio though--this is San Francisco!!) We sat in the main dining room. The main dining room has simple decor--very industrial-looking. Our waiter, Brad, brought us some papas nativas chips and huacatay sauce to dunk them in. I love huacatay and this sauce was fresh and flavorful! We devoured the entire tub of chips. We then got a Causa California which is an elevated classic causa with crab, quail eggs, tomatoes, purple potatoes, and aji amarillo sauce. DELICIOUS! It wasn't plated in the classic fashion, where the crab is between layers of the potato puree, but it didn't detract from the flavor or presentation one bit. Next were the Anticuchos: a slam dunk! I found the flavor to be slightly different to classic anticuchos, but delicious! Pro tip: do NOT let the waiter take away your huacatay sauce so you can dunk the crispy potatoes in the sauce! For our entree, we split a Chaufa Aeropuerto. Again, some creative liberties were taken: broccoli was added when the OG dish usually doesn't have broccoli. The stone dish it comes in also seemed really small--but do not be fooled! Inside is PLENTY of delicious goodness! The scrambled egg on top with the shrimp and Wagyu beef took this dish to flavor town!!! The only thing I would add to it is something crunchy, like wontons. By this point, we were stuffed, but there's always some room for dessert! So we split a Choco-Maracuya. LOVED this dessert! You crack it to reveal the layers. The presentation makes it look like a lemon but it's chocolate! Inside are 2 layers of chocolate and passionfruit cheesecake. SO GOOD--with the graham cracker and strawberry crumble? YUMMmm! The only down side was that someone told my friend the sparkling water was free (it wasn't). Not sure if that was a misunderstanding? Regardless, if you want some classic Peruvian seafood dishes (with some twists) come to La Mar! I know I'll be returning multiple times as I LOVE all of Gaston Acurio's restaurants! Bill attached below! Also, special shoutout to Brad and the entire service team, who were very sweet and constantly checked in to make sure we were having a good time!

Much more flavor than merely lime as the sauce. Also, good variety different seafood like clams, mussels, calamari and fish. Plus corn bits and some sweet potato. Really jam packed with deliciousness. Chicharron de Pollo: Thin and crispy, it seemed like there was skin attached to the deep fried chicken, giving it an extra crunchy. Nice creamy sauce. And the pickled onions added a good tang. Lomo Saltado: One of my favorite dishes, so had to order it here. The flavors were on point with a generous amount of that sauce. The equally balanced forkfuls with steak, onion, tomatoes and fries were divine. Unfortunately, they were a bit skimpy on the beef since the balanced forkfuls ended quickly and then there were a lot of fry heavy bites. It looked meaty when it first arrived, but I think the trick is that all the meat was on top, nothing mixed in. Aji de Gallina: Shredded chicken in a light yellow sauce. Though it tasted little bland. Like not creamy enough and not spicy enough. It was still decent, but could have been better. Picarones: Maybe the best thing I ordered. The doughnuts were made fresh to order, still warm and a little gooey. And that sticky sweet sauce with subtle spices were amazing. I did extra rounds on the plate to ensure I could soak up as a much as possible with each doughnut bite.

With no planning, we showed up at Pacifico, which was just a couple blocks from our concert. The restaurant was a little weird - it sits within the lobby of the SF Jazz recital hall, and all the signs are for "B-Side". It's a little unclear to me still whether the restaurant is called B-Side or Pacifico, but the waiter told us that Pacifico is new, with a new chef and new menu. The inspirations are Colombia, Peru, and California cooking, which was very appealing to us. We ordered two items off the specials menu (Tuna Tostada and Short Rib) and one from the permanent menu (Hearts of Palm Ceviche). The Tuna Tostada was both of our favorite. It was light, refreshing, and there were these little pops of flavor from burnt, deeply fried jalapeños. The Hearts of Palm ceviche was interesting and unique (a completely vegetarian dish, but made in the style of ceviche and with leche de tigre). Ultimately, it was more interesting than appetizing. Finally, the Short Rib was well cooked, but unfortunately just way too sweet for our palate.
