Great little place with indoor and outdoor seating. The Mexican decor and delicious food are excellent . They offer authentic dishes with yummy food. I will add this to one of my favorite and regular spots

    Bugs in the window.

Food was tasty and service was okay. The reason I'm giving two stars is for cleanliness. The window was very dirty lots of dead bugs that I think have been there for days if not weeks. The second and most concerning thing is that this lady was going back and forth to the kitchen with a backpack and a little chihuahua dog on it. Every time she would turn around, the dog will be at the height of the prep table and the stove, then they let the dog loose in the restaurant and it was walking freely in the kitchen and dinning area. I hope that improve this thing because they are concerning. Also, I paid $5 for a Jamaica water and it was a tiny metal cup of probably 4/6oz, and it was mostly ice. Seriously? $5 for a tiny Jamaica water?

THE MENU THAT SAYS SALVADORIAN POPUSAS MEAL

The service was not friendly and the food is not authentic I ordered popusas from the menu that said Salvadorian popusas but the taste was awful bc they made the popusas with mozzarella or Monterey American cheese instead of the traditional Salvadorian popusas cheese not to mention the beans mixed with it is black and pinto??? I have never ate a popusas like that until today! On top of one of the ladies making the food was coughing which I should've knows better to not order once I seen that but didn't think of it bc she was in the back I called for a refund or to replace that awful plate and they denied it stating that's how they make it and that the menu doesn't say Salvadorian popusas when it clearly does. I will never go there again and I do not recommend it if you are looking for authenticity in their food plates because they are not even. Close to it!. Wasted time and money!.

I came here for dinner with a group of friends and had a pleasant experience with fantastic service. The vibe inside was cozy and felt like an authentic mom and pop shop. My partner and I shared the mole and quesadilla. The mole was flavorful, and we were even given more tortillas when the attentive man behind the counter noticed we were running low. The quesadilla was surprisingly even better than the mole. I'll have to come back some time for brunch, which I've heard great things about.

i almost didn't come here because their website menu said the breakfast burrito contained chorizo/sausage, but they offered to make me a vegetarian one!! not only that but i think it was the best breakfast burrito i've had in SF. it was lightly grilled and contained eggs, spinach, mushrooms, peppers, cheese, and potatoes; they also offered to make a vegan one but i didn't ask what would be in it. outdoor seating was packed on a saturday morning but there was plenty of space indoors. we also had the mexican mocha and horchata latte. the mocha was very tasty though quite sweet and the horchata latte was not sweet at all.

Food was sooooooo delicious! I really appreciated the kindness of the people who served us. We ordered three different meals and each one was fabulous. Walking up to the restaurant, there were tables outside with shade. Once inside, it was cozy like eating a home cooked meal. Going to come back next time im in SF!

Came here after a yoga class and enjoyed how quick the service was here! Good: - Solid breakfast burrito - the portion sizes were great here and I feel like I got a great meal for great value too - Felt like everything was made fresh - Horchata here was super tasty and refreshing too Bad: - Not the cleanest place, it felt like it was a little janky but also very local and authentic - The seats weren't super comfortable here either Overall this place was a nice find post-workout, but not sure if I'd come again.

Amazing food. My friend and I visited for breakfast on two occasions, since it's close by to us. Now it's one of our favorite places for breakfast or lunch. They have a wide variety of Latin dishes and a really nicely decorated indoor and outdoor setup. There is Hispanic art displayed and if you love Latin culture and food, it's a great atmosphere overall. I recommend the aqua fresca and the breakfast burrito is delicious

Cute little mom & pop restaurant! The decor and ambiance is very homely. The service was great & the food came out pretty quickly! The pupusas were yummy and flavorful. The chilaquiles were sooo good! In my opinion, not that spicy! It was perfect. The portions are nicely sized. Would come back again!

The food is INCREDIBLE!!! I have gone back on multiple occasions just to get more of their Mexi-corn. The specials and rotating dishes are delicious and always worth checking out. The workers are so helpful , kind and they obviously want to be there. It felt warm and welcoming to sit, eat and have a chat with friends. I frequent here often

When I walk out of Golden Gate Park due west, I more often take Haight since it's full of activity, but this time, I walked on the much quieter Hayes Street. In fact, I never think there are any eateries on the stretch before Divisadero, but then I unexpectedly came upon this low-key Salvadoran cafe. Even though there were no customers in the middle of the afternoon, the quiet space and the smallish menu appealed to me. More than the pupusas, arepas, or the fish tacos served here, what really drew my attention.was the $16 Pozole Soup Bowl. Even though I didn't ask, it was a pozole verde, not rojo. That happened to be my preference since I'm a pozole verde/menudo rojo combo kinda eater. It was quite a pile of ingredients in that bowl - shredded lettuce, chopped red onion, oregano, plenty of hominy, and nice pieces of braised chicken (photo: https://bit.ly/3LZ4nrD). It just came with a few tortilla chips, but that was enough. Good stuff probably because it had been sitting in their stockpot all day. The artwork on the wall was nicely evocative while the Golden Gate Bridge counter was a unique touch. Definitely need to walk on Hayes more often. FOOD - 4 stars...a fine, hearty homestyle bowl of chicken pozole verde AMBIANCE - 4 stars...like a Salvadoran living room with a big bridge in the middle of it SERVICE - 4 stars...quietly effective TOTAL - 4 stars...need to come back and try other specialties though that pozole was worth repeating RELATED - Exploring NoPa? What a cutie-patootie. This small casual spot quickly became a regular of mine. It's tucked away from the main drag and mostly only known to those living nearby. Home recipes soothe the soul here, especially on a dreary day. Everything is so freshly prepared and made from scratch. Great for a Sunday brunch when you want to let it all hang out. Their mole chilaquiles is off the chain and they always have a couple of kitchen specials to keep things interesting. Decent, down home cooking at an attractive price.

Tacos El Patron is still my go-to spot for birria tacos in the city…read more Food: I first discovered birria tacos during the pandemic and went on a mission to find the best one. A coworker recommended this place, and now I recommend it to everyone. What stands out is the balance--everything is done well. The meat is rich and flavorful, the tacos themselves are just as good, and the consommé ties everything together perfectly. I've tried places where one part is strong but something else falls short, but not here. You also get free sides like onions, cactus, radish, and beans, which make the meal even better. I've been coming back ever since, and I can easily finish three tacos in one sitting. On my most recent visit, I had two birria tacos and tried their birria ramen. It was surprisingly good--comforting and flavorful, more like a homemade dish than anything instant. For drinks, I've tried all their jugos, and the jamaica is the standout--get it in a large. Service: Friendly, efficient, and straightforward. Orders come out at a good pace, and the staff keep things moving even when it's busy. Ambience: The space has a Frida Kahlo-inspired design, which adds character and makes it feel lively and unique. There's one restroom available. Parking: Parking can be a bit difficult in the area, so expect to walk a little--but it's worth it once you get your food. If you're serious about finding a really good birria taco, this is one to try.

Tacos El Patron is worth the effort to figure out where to park, etc. it's not quite a hole in the wall, but it definitely is on the smaller side, and we ended up getting food to go because it was just easier. The birria quesadilla was a total surprise. It was FILLED with a very generous amount of meat. The meat was tasty, lightly seasoned, and the portion truly is a shareable. We asked about the consommé and I don't know if they just forgot it or what happened but we never got to try it. The shrimp taco was tasty and absolutely filled with again generous amount of shrimps. Ironically, it wasn't my favorite. It just was lacking the level of flavor that I really wanted. The Carne Asada was mediocre at best and not something that I would order again. The winner out of the numerous items that we ordered was the pork belly and the Al pastor. Between the two, the Al pastor is the one that you want. Incredibly well seasoned, a nice hint of light spice, the meat was juicy and tender, and the combination in the taco was outstanding. Seriously so good that my mouth is watering just thinking about how tasty it was. The chips were nothing to write home about, and I didn't really care for salsas that came with the meal. Really reasonably priced, generous amount of food, and absolute worth the push in enjoying their food! Diners tip: there seems to be a description in cost between ordering online versus in the restaurant and you may get a better deal ordering online

This place is famous for their burritos and especially the "Dorado style," which tastes amazing -- BUT what they don't clearly disclose anywhere is that the Dorado style burrito is cooked in pork lard unless you specifically ask for it "dry" or with vegetable oil. As someone who does not eat pork for religious reasons, finding that out after already eating there was honestly really upsetting. And the frustrating part is that there is NO clear sign or disclosure telling customers this. If I never asked, I would have had no idea. I actually still like this spot and appreciate that they at least offer a dry/vegetable oil option if you ask, but customers should not have to investigate ingredients themselves to avoid pork. Jewish, Muslim, vegetarian, and other customers deserve transparency. A simple sign or note on the menu saying that Dorado style is prepared with pork lard by default would solve this issue completely. Great food, but this absolutely needs to be disclosed better. One of my all time favorite spots in general.
