La Mar really blew me out of the water! The service was incredibly friendly and consistent (in spite of multiple private events going on throughout our service - shout out to Luis(?)) This was the restaurant week, but I ended up getting a la carte menu items. I started strong with the nigiri sampler. Peruvian flare mixed with Japanese technique makes for uniquely delicious bites. I really loved the kanpachi with aji and salmon nigiri! The arroz norteño was an interesting dish with a seared duck breast and clams/scallops. All proteins were cooked perfectly, but the rice was sort of a weird mushy mass. The dish had an overall great flavor, I just am not sure what the arroz part is going for. I really appreciate that the server gave me a free dessert, since I didn't order anything while my friends did (saying it's sad to skip dessert). This was our favorite restaurant week meal for 2026!

Came here at Pier SF and it absolutely delivered. We started with the empanada sampler (corn, beef, mushroom, and chicken) and every single one was on point. The flavors are subtle but really well balanced. The corn empanada especially stood out--slightly sweet, soft inside, and honestly something I haven't experienced quite like this anywhere else. The croqueta chifa was another highlight. Super crispy on the outside with perfectly cooked, succulent shrimp inside. That contrast of texture with the rich, savory filling just works so well. Great food, thoughtful flavors, and a setting that makes the whole experience feel special. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

A friend and I were getting together for a meal and decided to go to La Mar. I've been here countless times over the years, but my friend had never been. He easily made a rezzie a few weeks prior. I enjoyed the cocktails. Especially their play on the pisco sour. Food wise, the cebiche tasting was a good way to sample a few of their items. It came with the quemado / salmon, nikkei / ahi tuna, and victoriano / halibut. The pulpo had a nice smoke and was tender. I adored the el achupado - bucatini noodles, scallops, octopus, shrimp, chupe sauce, dungeness crab, huacatay sauce. It was so creamy and comforting. I didn't try the lomo or the empanada, but my friend seemed to enjoy them. Service was great. Our server was sweet, friendly, and attentive. Vibe is very much loud music, dim, bustling, etc. But we could still have a convo while enjoying our meal. Tho with my old eyes, I found it hard to read the menu. Had to use the flashlight on my phone. I've always enjoyed coming here. Tho a lil pricey, it's a nice space with good cocktails and cebiche. Glad I discovered the pasta this time. REVIEW #3987

Came here for a special work event. Let me just say, this place is pretty big. I never even knew this place existed either. Anyway, the food that was prepared for us was fantastic, I thoroughly enjoyed the food and dessert we were provided. The service was fantastic, I never had to wait long for a drink. I'd come back for sure to try their normal menu based off my experience here.

Booked a table for 4 at La Mar SF for my mom's birthday on a Friday, and we didn't realize it was the first day of SF restaurant week!! Of course we opted for their $90 prix fixe menu. From the start, the service really stood out. The servers and host were incredibly accommodating and attentive, and we always felt taken care of without it being overbearing. The meal started with complimentary potato chips and a green sauce that I'm still thinking about. Definitely not your typical chips because these were super addictive! First course (9/10): - Cebiche Clasico - Tiradito Laqueado (torched ahi tuna) - Causa California (Dungeness crab) Such a light way to start the meal. The torched ahi tuna was actually my favorite dish of the whole night. Second course (10/10): - Pulpo Anticuchero (grilled Spanish octopus) - Conchas Pachicay (grilled diver scallop) The best course. Everything was warm, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Even my parents (who can be a bit picky) loved everything here, which is so rare. Third course (7.5/10): - Churrasco Marino (grilled Alaskan halibut with black rice) Honestly I was a bit disappointed on this one. Though I liked the fish because you can tell it was cooked right before it got on the plate, grilled to perfection. But we didn't like the black rice pairing. I'm not a big fan of beans and that's what the black rice felt like. Dessert (9/10): - Suspiro Loco (vanilla ice cream, almond crumble, strawberry, housemade cotton candy) Loved this dessert! It was not overly sweet, and the almond crumble added a great texture. Our tongues turned blue with the cotton candy though. Since we were celebrating my mom's birthday, they also brought out a complimentary tres leches cake! So yum 8/10 Overall great experience! I always try to find a place that would fit my parents palette and this place did exactly that :)

Delicious, service was outstanding, ambience on the SF Pier was a vibe. Expensive but you can't go wrong g with the food here from the drinks to dessert amazing Peruvian food. Ceviche is a must and lots of it! Tres leches cake with coconut it fantastic. And everything between. My fav empanada in order was the corn, beef, chicken then mushroom. Almost no parking. A must to public transportation, Lyft/uber or walk.

I had to come back and hope that La Mar could do better than the previous time I came. The food was too good to pass up, and I believe they were just having an off day. Anyway, let's get to the important stuff. The service was definitely better this time, especially during a busy Saturday evening. The staff was extremely attentive and kind and offered great recommendations. Diana was my server, and she was extremely knowledgeable about the food and made great recommendations. I tried these squid ink croquettes, bucatini octopus/seafood pasta, and the beef hearts. Everything was cooked to perfection and tasted so good. The croquettes were light and didn't make me full. It was paired with a tasty sauce/paste that I kept for extra sauce to eat with the beef heart. I haven't tried beef heart before, so trying this was a little scary and off putting, but it was tender really good. Give it a try if you haven't had it before! The bucatini pasta was delicious and filling. The perfect way to end a meal. The pasta sauce was creamy but wasn't too drippy. The noodles were soft and melted in your mouth and the different seafood options in the dish, created the perfect bite every time! I'm glad I came back and tried more things from their menu! They did not disappoint! I look forward to coming back more often!

La Mar, where do I start?? one of our favorites in the city! everything tastes super fresh, slightly touristy, yet classy and so delicious. Save up if you come here, but it's well worth it!!! they have veg options as well. get the nigiri tasting--best thing on the menu in my opinion! many ceviche options, many entrees as well (if we don't fill up on nigiri!). the actual restaurant is always bumbling, but we prefer sitting at the bar. they have a nice patio as well as a heated outdoor area too!

My husband and I have been wanting to try La Mar for sometime so when our friend celebrated her birthday there we were ecstatic! To start with, we didn't know if it would be 12 or 13 of us since my husband is an accountant and it's busy season...but they were so kind, understanding, and accommodating!! Very responsive on open table as well. Next the food, do not leave here without trying at least one of the ceviches They were pretty good! We got the quemacho, Classico and limeño. All different flavors but delicious when sharing with friends. Also recommend the leche de Tigre! The royal sour is a 10/10 but if you want something tart I recommend the Maracuya sour. Calamari was crispy and fresh, yuca fries delicious. Perfect place to celebrate our friend and we got complimentary sweet potato chips! I would come back for a date night or intimate night with friends. It was bustling and busy. Def check out La Mar!

La Mar is a beautiful Peruvian restaurant that has a perfect ambiance to dine in for any special occasion. Beyond the pretty interior and unique bar decor, there is also an outside seating option where you can bask in the ocean views along the pier. My partner reserved a lunch here for us over a month in advance and it was still decently booked up. My experience here was fabulous, we showed up early to our reservation and got seated immediately. The server was extensively helpful with explaining the menu and giving recommendations, it made it so much easier to decide to what felt like an extensive menu. To start, we got a Lychee Picchu, which consists of bounty white rum, lychee, and lemon. Sweet, not too strong, and cute. Not to also forget, the complimentary potato crisps with sauce. My partner asked the server to bring everything out all at once opposed to by appetizers & course so I can get the perfect aerial shot of all the dishes, to which they of course complied. We decided on Leche De Tigre cebiche(ceviche) which has chopped seafood, onion, choclo, cancha, rocoto leche de tigre, topped with a jumbo prawn. Absolutely delicious, you can't go wrong with cebiche. Very generous with seafood to my surprise. Our personal favorite was the Pulpo Anticuchero, which is grilled spanish octopus, anticuchera sauce, oyster mushroom, and fava bean kapchi. Gorgeous plating and the octopus was so tender, the flavor profile of this dish was perfect. Finally the Lomo Saltado, typical Peruvian dish of wok stir-fried beef tenderloin, tomatoes, red onions, cilantro, jalapeño, oyster sauce, soy sauce, potatoes, and rice. We went with the restaurant's preferred way to cook the meat which was medium and it was still so surprisingly juicy. No notes, it is a classic dish. Would definitely come back here again, simply delicious.

Made reservations for 8:30 on a Saturday night. We were celebrating my friends birthday. We were seated in the back area that was open with views of the water. There were heaters and it was a pretty warm night so the ambiance was great. We ordered drinks and a couple dishes to share. Clasico ceviche, Nigiri tasting(2 of each nigiris on the menu). We also ordered this fried rice that came in a stonepot. We substituted the shrimp for beef. Everything we ate was 10/10. The service was amazing all night. They brought out complimentary cake, and took a Polaroid of us to keep for memories!! I've come here for happy hour before but will definitely be coming back for dinner or for any celebrations.

California causa, salmon belly nigiri and classic ceviche
    Guisela L.

Honestly I never step foot in here because I thought it was a tourist trap. My partner went with a work group and they really enjoyed it so she brought me. We first visited the bar and the second visit out back outside. The bar is nice but being outside is where it's at. Gorgeous view and ocean breeze - ooo la la! All you need is a drink and some bites and you're all set and that's exactly what we did! The sours are a little too sweet and gave me a headache so I went with a more straight up drink and did much better. The California causa, classic ceviche, all of the nigiri's, cod, and octopus were spot on. I can't say if it's authentic or not but I can tell you that it was fresh and not fishy and of course tasty. We really enjoyed our visit and will find ourselves back again soon.

We were promptly seated on a Saturday night dinner around 6:15PM even though they were booked online until 7:45. Service was pretty quick and friendly, but you could tell they were trying to push us on selling drinks/appetizers. I felt like the service staff's mood might've changed a little after we were fine with only water (shocker I know, we usually don't order $17 cocktails...). Other appetizer menu items were similar in pricing if not more expensive than entrees themselves. I ordered an Arroz con Mariscos and a Pollo a la Brasa, and was pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes given the upscale restaurant vibe. I was expecting a lot less food, but turns out they gave regular portions, and boy were they GOOD. The paella is a standard paella, and it was very flavorful. Although it came with only a couple shrimp and other seafoods, the portion was still fulfilling for 1 person. To be fair, it's not really portioned to share unless you order a ton of other dishes. The half chicken was one of the best chickens I've had. The seasoning on the skin and the crispiness from the oven perfectly compliments each other, and my mouth is watering as I'm typing this. It's pretty savory, and the flavors soak through into the breast, so you know it's been marinating for a while. The fries reminded me of McDonald's fries cuts, and the salad was sweet and sour. An appetizer wasn't necessary for us, but if you're hungry, then definitely consider ordering one. The vibe was very cozy, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that since we ordered only 2 dishes, the service team kinda rushed us after ~45min of sitting and dining. To be fair, other tables had at least one cocktail per person, but at close to $20 per drink, we could not justify the price. A solid 4 stars!

Kiddo kept the leftover sauce to pour over his rice. Kiddo ordered the Lomo Saltado, additional $4 to make it a la pobre. He ate it all up. I went with the Pescado a lo Macho. The presentation was great and the fish was nice and crispy - yum! Service was great in that she was friendly and checked on us often.

Wonderful, helpful staff and friendly service from all. This place was amazing. I was so happy to try out Lomo Libre. We started with the Cesar salad with shrimp. Great flavor, very fresh, avocado, and shrimp added for some nice crunch and seafood. Next the Oysters with the leche de Tigre and ceviche clasico. Both were briny, salty, citrusy, and plump. Next came the Lomo saltado and tallarin saltado. The sauce was just enough for both and not overpoweringly salty, sweet, or anything. Lastly was the chaufa. Not my favorite, a little over seasoned to my liking, but great still. My favorite from the night was the ceviche clasico and Lomo saltado. Everything from the night was amazing though and I will definitely be back for more!

Offering a rich array of traditional Peruvian dishes, Mi Lindo Peru is a celebrated restaurant known for its vibrant flavours and generous portions. The establishment has become a favourite of go-to spots among locals and visitors alike for an authentic taste of Peru in San Francisco. Located in Bernal Heights, parking can be challenging in this bustling area. Luckily, we arrived around 6:30 PM, so I was able to find a space across the street, less than a block away. Truth be told, though - I did drive around the neighbourhood about 1.5 times before scoring a spot. The brightly lit dining room's ambiance is casual, unfussy and welcoming. Only one table was occupied and no other customers arrived to dine in during our visit. We sat at the half booth table at the very front, adjacent to the entrance. On this evening, the spacious venue was clean; however, a small stack of empty white plastic buckets at the foyer floor stuck out to me like an eye sore. Along with our menus, we were served a complimentary basket of two slices of soft, white bread, a ramekin each of a single ball of soft butter and a non-spicy red salsa. Below are what we ordered: Chicha Morada (Glass, $4.95) - Ana ordered this beverage for me, insisting that I try a Peruvian drink. She described this sweet purple corn juice as a Peruvian Kool-Aid. Her description was pretty spot on. Just a bit too sweet for me, but nonetheless refreshing. Aji de Gallina ($22.95) - I have always been curious about this classic Peruvian creamy stew, so was stoked that Smitty said that she was ordering it. YUM!! I need to order this next time! Lomo a lo Pobre ($28.95) - "A lo pobre" translates to "poor man's style" in Spanish and refers to the simple addition of a fried egg, fried plantains and/or rice and french fries to traditional Peruvian dishes to add another level of tastiness. I'm a big fan of Lomo Saltado, but jumped on this option with the added plaintain and perfectly fried egg. I was conservative and had the egg yolk ooze over the white rice (I could tell that the rice was steaming hot because the yolk began to cook once I sat the egg atop it). I immediately regretted that move, kicking myself for missing out on exploring the added flavour from breaking the egg over the meat, veggies and french fries medley. Next time, for sure! Despite the slight tough texture of the lean strips of meat, my meal was still delicious and enjoyable. Service was friendly and fast. I was taken aback when the check was delivered sans asking us if we were interested in dessert, though,...especially because I was so looking forward to a sweet finale with Alfajores. We inquired, but, sadly, they were out of the dulce de leche cookies due to their popularity during Valentine's Day weekend. The cookie monster in me was SUPER bummed. I initially thought that they had no inventory of postres (dessert) since they didn't offer any at first, but turned out that they did, indeed, still had offerings. We decided to pass on the sweet course. So delighted I was to be introduced to Mi Lindo Peru by mi querida amiga. I would happily return to continue the delectable culinary journey here that highlights the essence of Peru.

The wind shields they have set up are a brilliant touch. They block the gusts without killing the view, which makes a huge difference up there. I was with a big enough group that we ordered across the menu and got to try a bit of everything. The Lomo Saltado Roll was a standout. Easily one of the more interesting rolls I've had recently. The A5 Wagyu Burger is my go to here and it didn't disappoint. The Tokyo Matcha French Toast is the move for "dessert". Order it at the end and pass it around the table. Matcha custard, peanut butter mousse, matcha and mate syrup. Honestly unreal. Service is what pushed this from good to great. Everyone was attentive without being intrusive and clearly knew the menu inside and out. Felt genuinely taken care of from start to finish. Will be back.

The food was tasty but the portions were small in comparison to the price. But hey, that's SF for you. I could skip the beef empanadas next time. It tasted fine but nothing epic about it. I think I have a slight addiction to their plantain chips- they're thin and light and tasty with the cevice or guac - edamame dip. Yummy The drinks were pretty good too! I wouldn't mind coming back to celebrate or experience the rooftop again with friends. But I likely wouldn't come back for a monthly or weekly dinner date.
