Went in, and got seated promptly even though we came earlier than our reservation time. Zach our server explained the menu thoroughly the let us have time to peruse the menu. He was so professional, friendly and very on point. We ordered the shrimp and lobster dumplings, the caviar and langoustine rolls, and the langoustine toasts. All soo delicate and flavorful. Then we had the shaking beef, the house Dungeness crab, the seafood fried rice and the garlic noodles. Everything tasted awesome and presentation was great. For desserts we ordered the fried banana with vanilla ice cream, the baked Alaska ( was too sweet and too frozen for us, we could barely cut into it ) and custard ( chè ) which was served with ice cream (?) ... the last 2 desserts were disappointing. I really had high hopes for Crustacean; however, the service tonight left much to be desired. We were able to get seated earlier than our reservation, but I feel like that's where the "wow" factor ended. Our waiter seemed overworked and irritated, and it was difficult to get attentive service throughout the evening. While I understand busy nights happen, the overall experience felt rushed and disconnected. That said, the ambiance was absolutely beautiful. The restaurant has a dark, sultry, upscale feel that makes it perfect for a date night or special occasion. We shared the following dishes: AN's Famous Garlic Roasted Dungeness Crab (MP - which, for us, was $88 - plus an additional $10 to have it served out of the shell), AN's Famous Garlic Noodles ($16), Truffle Hamachi ($24), and Signature Crab Puffs ($18). Let's discuss Crustacean's. First of all, let me start off by saying that I have frequented Crustacean's for over 20 years, and have never had a subpar experience. They have been my family's go-to restaurant for many of our celebratory events, and we love their food and service. With that said, I am very aware that businesses need to evolve and make augments to the way that things have always been done; however, the hubs and I frequented Crustacean's recently at their new location, and I must say that we were substantially underwhelmed. Although they had a new fancy establishment, something was lost in translation. There was something about the nostalgia of the older building. Yes, it certainly needed work, but the food was always great. As for our recent visit, the food was not as good, nor was the service, and the ambiance totally lacked the family feeling that once brought so much warmth and comfort. I was excited to try the famous crab garlic noodles at Crustacean after hearing the hype around the original Thanh Long and stopped by this Fidi location for a nice lunch with a friend. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the ambiance really made it feel like an elevated lunch location. Between the 2 of us we got the Roasted Dungeness Crab with garlic noodles on the side and the Chrysanthemum Gem salad to share. First starting off with the salad, it was a solid caesar salad and the large pieces of rice crackers on top were fun to break apart and eat with the salad itself. The star of course was suppose to be the crab cracked out of shell and the famous garlic noodles. I really wanted to love this but I actually thought it lacked flavor and while the crab was coated with garlic butter, it was dry in some parts and the garlic didn't shine. Same with the noodles which were on the heavier side with garlic butter but felt kind of gummy to me. I really wanted to enjoy this more but the combo just felt like too much without providing enough flavor and for the price there are better Asian restaurants in the city which serve fresh crab. One of the managers shared something special with us: a sample of macerated kumquat peel that he personally prepares by hand. Different location but if I'm being honest it's been so long since I've dined at Crustacean that it was essentially a new experience. Ate at the bar. Service was very good and friendly. Dining room was busy and had a nice buzz to it. I didn't go with their signature dishes because I was craving MEAT after a good workout. Used to go to the previous location for birthdays, etc. so I had to come check out the revamp! Was not disappointed! The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL! Very well decorated and the ambiance is perfect! Great for groups or even if you want to come solo. They have a bar area that is super nice. I made reservations but did come alone for this time around so I was seated at a table. They added new things to the menu, but since this was my first time coming back since they opened up the "new" restaurant, I wanted to try my usual staples to see if anything has changed. I ordered the mussels, the garlic noodles and the roasted crab (as is). I did see an option where they crack it for you now, but I'm an OG and like to do that on my own. But for those that prefer not to get down and dirty, don't worry. They will do it for you now . Dishes were just as delicious as I remember. No notes! I could've swore the mussels came more to a platter but that could've just been me wanting more of it. I ate all of it there! lol Garlic noodles and crab are a big service (more for sharing), so I took what I couldn't finish to go. I ordered two cocktails (both the same-the Teremana Reposado) which was fruity, refreshing and just how I like it (strong) as well as a glass of champagne (greedy, I know lol). The servers were amazing. Very attentive and friendly. I got lucky and even sat next to super friendly and sweet guests. Super relieved and happy that not much has changed other than them upgrading the restaurant itself. One thing I do want to mention is parking is kind of tricky. I got lucky and found parking around the corner, but my reservation was right when they stopped charging so, just double check the time and space before you park. Other than that, I Love Crustaceans! TLDR: Great alternative for FiDi folks but I might not battle traffic, a bridge and downtown parking to eat here. If you do, you won't be disappointed, but also not overwhelmed. Ambiance (5/5): * Spacious, modern, creative and bar seating. * Not too loud, not too quiet. Service (4/5): * Didn't have the answer to every question, but courteous and reasonably friendly. Menu (5/5): * Varied for this type of cuisine. * Not overly extensive and not too minimal. Goldilocks. Food (4/5): * All the food was executed very well. * With that said, most of the flavors are familiar by now, but also not super easy to find a spot that offers this full combination of apps, entrees [and desserts]. This may be an unpopular opinion but I thought it was just ok. Overpriced for the quality of food. Ordered the sea bass which was underwhelming. Also didn't care for the Negroni. The service and ambience were good but I expected more from the food. read more

Went here for a team dinner and it did not disappoint. I loved the Vietnamese fusion across their menu like the Bo kho dumplings (which were amazing) and the banh mi pho dip. Every thing we had was nothing short of delicious!! Service was attentive and friendly. What a beautiful afternoon in San Francisco getting to try the reopened Crustacean on Pine Street. I actually didn't know the history of the Chef and some of their historic dishes like the fried banana dessert (check out their website!) The space is incredibly beautiful and oh so spacious. FYI make a reservation and to note, there is a business chic attire suggestion. There are two reservation times (lunch from 11:30a-2:30p and dinner from 5-9pm). We slide through for lunch and ordered quite an array: the Ribeye 'Banh Mi' Pho Dip, Bo Kho'' Wagyu & Bone Marrow Dumplings, Steamed Shrimp & Lobster Dumplings, the AN's Famous Garlic Noodles, Vegetable Medley, and Seafood Fried Rice. Such a beautifully abundant spread! Wowee, my favorite bite (shared with others) was the Ribeye ''Banh Mi" Pho Dip ~ tasted in the most comforting way like an elevated and thoughtful approach to a chopped cheese. Also, those bone marrow dumplings, yum yum yum! The noodles were delish and the sauce with the veggie medley, divine. If you're not getting the AN's Famous Garlic Roasted Dungeness Crab at market price (saw lotsa guests with their seafood bibs on), then try one of their fresh crab dishes ~ from crab cakes, crab puffs, and crab vermicelli too. To note, those amazing Tuna Cigars you may see on the Gram' are only served during dinner service. There are several other dishes on the dinner menu that look amazing. Also! The food portions are extremely small and the prices are extremely high. Quality of food is definitely excellent however, if you're going to pay prices at a level of a five star restaurant, then perhaps the chairs and some of the finishes have to be that too while the staff were accommodating the small portions really made it difficult to enjoy anything. We were a party of six and we spent over $900 we ordered one crab out of the shell and one cracked previously years ago had been at the sister restaurant Thane Long and I recall the portions were much bigger. read more

Made a dinner reservation a few days before our wedding anniversary on their website. They are well known for their garlic noodles and garlic roasted Dungeness crab, so I was excited to try both of them!! I'm glad that they were able to accommodate us since I was almost 30 minutes late due to traffic. Apparently, this is a new location in the financial district. The interior is modern and romantic. We ordered the crab and it was a bit disappointing since it was mostly butter and not that much garlic. The garlic noodles were good but it was cold. The filet mignon shaken beef was pricey but really tasty, especially the sauce and the crispy potatoes. Unfortunately, the beef was more rare than I expected so it was brought back to the kitchen. We also ordered cocktails and enjoyed both drinks. The fried banana and ice cream that we received was delicious!! Glad I was finally able to stop by after all these years of hearing about this restaurant. I would probably come back only if someone wanted to have a meal here. The type of crab that they serve is different than what I expected but it might be to someone else's liking. read more

We came to Crustacean SF for dinner and overall had a great experience! The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere felt upscale but still comfortable. We ordered the AN's Famous Garlic Roasted Dungeness Crab and garlic noodles! Both lived up to the hype. The crab was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the noodles were rich, buttery, and addicting. The Caviar & Crispy Langoustine Roll was beautifully presented and had a nice balance of texture and flavor. We also tried the Salt & Pepper Calamari, Shrimp & Lobster Dumplings, and the Escargot Bone Marrow. It's definitely on the pricier side, but the quality and presentation make it worth the splurge for a special night out. I'd come back for the crab and garlic noodles alone! read more
