I was really excited to try this place but unfortunately, the food was inedible... however this review is for takeout so a dine-in experience might be different! Banh Mi: smallest I've ever had, 3 slices of meat and barely no veggies. Garlic Noodles with Five Spice Chicken: The garlic noodles had no taste (?) and just lots of barely cooked garlic sprinkled on top. The chicken was also very bland, not grilled and tasted like it was old and microwaved (?) we had to toss it because it didn't taste right... We ordered takeout, so when we went inside to get our food, we saw some deals for drinks to go with your meal. When we asked if we could order a Thai tea, they said no (?) and was just a really awkward, unpleasant interaction...
Came to the Richmond district for some Viet eats and ended up at A Chi where we got the bun bo hue and shrimp banh khot to share. The banh khot were super thick and very savory. I really liked them here. The bun bo hue was good, but I've had better, and nothing beats homemade. Next time I want to try the nem nuong summer rolls.
My fave neighborhood Vietnamese restaurant! The servers are always so welcoming and friendly. Everything is delicious, but my go-to is the Bun Bo Hue with flat noodles and a cà phê sữa đá with extra condensed milk!
Had lunch with my mom today, we both ordered the No. 1 combo beef noodle soup. This place is big and roomy, and the staff are very friendly. The soup was okay overall, but the portion was a bit small. I ordered a large and still didn't feel full... lol.
Came here on a rainy day for early dinner. Service was okay as we had to ask for water. Instead of bean sprouts, they had shredded green and red cabbage. I didn't mind it because I like cabbage. Bun Bo Hue had a nice mild spice to the broth. The noodles were the thick circular rice noodles. The temperature of the broth came out hot which is always nice. Bun Rieu - the crab paste was small broken pieces compared to other places that have it in more of a meatball shape. The broth had a subtle tomato flavor to it
A no frills, Vietnamese restaurant located in the Richmond and a great spot for when you're craving pho. I came by during a weekday dinner, and service from beginning to end was simple and quick. I ordered a pho tai and if I remember correctly, that day they were having a deal to upgrade to a large for the same size as a medium. Thus, I ordered the large and the portion was very generous. Very warm and rich pho broth, delicious! Pricing is fair and very easy to just drop in, have a warm bowl of pho, and you're on your way from there. Worth a visit if you're around the area.

OMG this is probably one of the best vietnamese places I have been to in a while. As soon as you walk in you can smell the aroma of the broth and I immediately knew I was gonna like this place. I was debating between the pho and the banhmi and I ultimately decided on the banhmi and I was not disappointed. The tofu was fried but not too deep fried and it melted in my mouth as soon as I took a bite. It was definitely worth every penny and it was pretty cheap as well. The star of the show!! THE BBQ PORK SPRING ROLLS!! omg i loved the spring rolls so much! they are huge portions and you honestly get the best bang for your buck!! The service was quick also!
This is my go-to spot for Vietnamese food in Richmond district! The portions are large and there is a huge variety of dishes. Service is fast and friendly as well. I ordered the Banh Khot which was really flavorful and I was pleasantly surprised by a coconut flavor in the batter. However the banh khot was not as crispy as I had hoped. My vermicelli had tender pork and the portion was large with a lot of vegetables too so I definitely felt like I was getting my money's worth.
Attentive and kind wait staff. Food came out quickly, was delicious, and prices were extremely reasonable.

We decided to cross the park to try out An Chi for lunch. Parking was a few blocks away. The place was spacious with a few other patrons. We got there around 12:15 and sat down. Placed our order within 7 minutes and got our meal at 12:33! That's pretty quick! Food was good and fresh tasting. OUR PICKS ~ BUN CHA GIO GA NUONG ~ cold vermicelli noodle salad with grilled chicken. This was my order. Tasty chicken and fresh salad greens. 4/5 BUN BO HUE (L) ~ this was my BF's order. He said decent amount in the bowl and appreciated that pork blood wasn't included. But he's used to getting pork bones. He got sliced meat instead. It not as authentic as other restaurants. 3.5/5 I order cold vermicelli noodles a lot when I have Vietnamese food. I enjoyed this meal, but coming from Sunset district, it's pretty comparable. We could just walk down the block from where we stay and have something similar with the same price if not a dollar or so less. But if I was in the area, I'd come back to try other dishes. Just wanted to note that an hour after eating, I was VERY thirsty! I'm assuming there was MSG added to the marinated grilled chicken. So be prepared to drink lots of water after!

San Francisco is known to have microclimates and it seems whoever tries to fight Mother Nature will find out real quick it's not a consistent battle. The last two Saturdays in San Francisco have been not as sunny as people want them to be. One thing I always like to get in those days soup. When the sun is down I go to get Pho Ga at a Vietnamese restaurant. So I decide to pay An Chi a visit. On a weekend stroll on Geary boulevard in SF I landed at An Chi. Inside there is plenty of seating and it has an interesting and welcoming decor. The menu has everything from Banh Mi to different Buns like Bun Rieu to Bun Cha Gio Ga Nuong. I decided to get Garlic Noodle with Five Spice chicken. The noodles were like Angel hair but with a garlicky taste. I then I got the Pho Ga and the broth was tasty and it was refreshing . The noodles were fresh and chicken was tender. Overall a great place to grab Vietnamese food in SF. It feels the Fall has already "begun" when there are days in the Summer where there is barely any "sun "and some visitors and tourists get surprise and some are "stun"but you can get something warm like some some Pho along with some "bun" Go to Geary which is a boulevard and not a "street"where they serve lemon grass and bbq "meat" the Summer in SF isn't always sunshine and trying to hide from the "heat"it's also enjoying Pho and garlic noodles which are like Angel hair because An Chi is a good place to "eat" read more

We stopped by for an early dinner at 4:00 PM on Sunday. Since there was only one other party dining at the time, the service was quick. The staff were both friendly and attentive; they even jumped in immediately to help another table with a spill, which was great to see. We ordered our usual, banh khot. Although this time it wasn't as crispy as I remembered, more fluffier this time, it still satisfied our cravings. We did have to ask for cilantro though since it didn't come with it. Also ordered the grilled pork vermicelli with egg roll. It was a big portion. It came with 2 pieces of thin but big pieces of grilled pork. The pork and dipping sauce was on the more sweeter side. Great food, loved the banh khot and the fresh rolls. We also got charbroiled pork and five spice chicken which was very flavourful and tender. There was a slight musty smell in the air when we entered but we acclimatized to it pretty quick. read more

Went here for dinner on a Sunday night amd no wait. We ordered: 1. Banh khot (savory vietnamese pancake) This was night amd Crispy and went well with the lettuce and fish sauce dip. 2. Pho dac biet A very solid bowl and pho! I w9sh o d9dnt have to share this bowl with my family. 3. Goi Cuon (fried fish spring roll) Highlight of the night. This was surprisingly good and will definitely order again. 3. Banh udon cua This was the disappointment if the night. The broth was good but the udon just seemed like regular u d on you would buy at a regular Japanese supermarket. I would much prefer this seafood broth with pho noodles ot vermicelli. Overall this is a pretty good vietnamese resturant in the city I highly recommend it. read more

Came here for lunch with my family on New Year's Day & thought the food was okay, the bad but also had better. I'm not sure which restaurant they took over from before, but from first impressions it seemed like maybe the kitchen had poor ventilation? It seemed a little smokey inside possible from cooking the banh khot. We ordered the banh khot, bun cha gio thit nuong, bun rieu and bun bo hue. The banh khot was good but had a little too much batter in my opinion. Of the three dishes, the grilled pork & imperial rolls vermicelli was probably the best dish. The bun no hue seemed like it was missing lemongrass and the bun rieu could use a little more shrimp paste. Overall we thought this spot was just okay. read more
Casual, Mom and Pop spot Stopped by here on recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed! Got the: Beef Pho (very customizable with the cuts of meat) Imperial Rolls Fried Banana with Ice Cream The Pho had so much flavor, you can tell it had been boiling or steeping with all of the bones and seasonings for a while. I love a darker broth and meat was cooked to perfection. Loved the Imperial rolls, everything you're craving and when you dip it into the fish sauce it's even better!! Fried banana took a little while to come out, I assume because most people don't order it(?), even though it is amazingggggg. I was craving a little dessert afterwards and was so grateful they had this iconic dish their menu. It's the perfect spot to stop by on a cold San Francisco day, you will be satisfied and well taken care of. read more
Stopped by here on a rainy day craving something warm and soupy! I ordered the Bun Thang (Vermicelli noodle soup with chicken, shrimp, egg, and cha lua) as well as the Shrimp spring rolls. First of all, the service here is amazing! The waiter asked if I wanted the shrimp paste on the side since I guess it's a strong taste for some individuals - which I found considerate! They also asked if I want my bean sprouts cooked or raw which was also very considerate. They packaged my food to go for me and separated my leftover pho into noodles and soup (yay for not having soggy noodles)! To the food, it was my first time trying Bun Thang, and they were having a weekly special with it. I was initially going to order the seafood pho but the waiter suggested I try Bun Thang since it also came with some seafood and was a large portion for the price! The broth was hearty and I'm glad the shrimp paste was into the side because it wasn't my favorite tasting food item :'). The shrimp spring rolls never disappoint - I love the peanut sauce it comes with.. delish! The restaurant was very clean and spacious. It was a cold day and decided to check out this place for some warm noodle soup. I got a regular #6 Bun Bo Hue and wow was it spicy! It's definitely spicier than most places I've had but the broth was very flavorful. There's a good portion of meat but I felt like the noodle portion was a bit lacking for the regular bowl size. We also got a large #1 Pho Dac Biet. The broth was light and flavorful as well. For the price and size, it had a good amount of meat and noodles. The only downside is that it's all street parking. It was pretty filled even on a weekday but if you're lucky, you can get a spot in front of the restaurant or within the same street. Otherwise, you'd have to circle around. read more

I was craving Vietnamese food, so decided to stop by for lunch. After perusing the menu, I ordered the Banh Xeo (Crispy Crepe) w/Vietnamese Shrimp ($16.00) for takeout. +Crepe was light and crispy +Good amount of filling: Bean sprouts were fresh and crunchy, and shrimp weren't overcooked +Nuoc cham was the perfect balance of sweet, sour, and spicy +Generous amount of herbs, lettuce, pickled carrots & radish: As you can see from my picture, I got a bag! *Verdict: I want to come back with family and friends to try the other dishes on the menu! read more
Only grabbed bbq pork sandwich as takeout to compare with another place and honestly, we should've eaten here instead. Restaurant looks clean, food came out fast and fresh, good service. I was told bbq pork sandwich (with pate added) was pretty good and a lot better than Mr Banh Mi read more

An Chi is your typical Vietnamese restaurant with a good variety of appetizers, pho/noodle soups, rice or dry noodle dishes, banh mi, and beverages. I ordered to-go one #28 Charbroiled pork with imperial roll and vermicelli, served with carrot, cucumber, lettuce, bean sprout, mint, and house fish sauce and one #23 Lemongrass BBQ pork chop with imperial roll, fried egg, rice, house fish sauce. They had a buy 1, get 1 Thai iced tea special at the time. Overall ingredients, especially the vegetables and herbs, tasted fresh and clean. Protein were flavorful, greasy, and delicious. Ambiance is simple and no frills, but bright and spacious. I would return to try other items in the future. Since I ordered to-go, there's not much to comment on service, but the time it took to order until receiving my food was a reasonable 10-15 minute wait. read more

My first time dining here and I would definitely come back! For an appetizer, we ordered their Banh Khot with shrimp since other yelp reviews raved about their banh khot, and it was delicious! It was my first time trying this Vietnamese dish and it was packed with flavor, I also loved their fish sauce! For my main dish, I got their Pho Dac Biet/Combination Beef Noodle Soup. I really enjoyed their pho! The broth was light and tasty, and the pho had plenty of noodles and meat in the regular size. Their regular size left me with a happy full stomach! My bf ordered their large Bun Bo Hue, and he loved it. I tried the broth of it and it was a bit spicy and delicious! We came here on a Sunday around 6:30pm and got seated right away! The staff was friendly and provided water whenever I ran out. read more
