Cross-section: Bánh Mì Đặc Biệt - Special Combo Cold Cut w/ extra pâté ($8)

4.5 STARS Ask a Viet OG in the city: "Where can I get the most legit bánh mì in the city?" (Spoiler: It's not the wildly popular Saigon Sandwich. While I grew up on their bánh mì and it's a great value, the baguette they use is all wrong.) Answer: Sing Sing Yeaaaars ago, a Viet OG put me on to Sing Sing deep in the TL. He told me their bánh mì are just like the ones back home in Vietnam. When you enter, there's groups of Viet uncs sitting in green plastic lawn chairs chilling and socializing while sipping on their cà phê sữa đá. And, they brought a piece of their TL space to their new space in Laurel Heights/Inner Richmond...those green plastic lawn chairs! Their new space has more seating (8 tables plus window counter seats), much easier street parking, restroom available, and they take CC! And, they remain super wallet-friendly with all their bánh mì: $8 and their cà phê sữa đá: $4. Buy 5 bánh mì, get one free. TIP: Request the veggies/pickled carrots on the side. They'll put them in a baggie so your bánh mì doesn't get soggy. Warm 'em up in the air fryer or toaster oven...lunch for the week, done. F O O D * Bánh Mì Đặc Biệt - Special Combo Cold Cut w/ extra pâté ($8): https://tinyurl.com/3225uvja The toasted baguette has a thin, shatteringly crispy crust with an airy soft interior that's been hollowed out. It's filled with two slices of pork belly, chả (steamed pork sausage), headcheese, pork floss, smear of pâté, creamy viet egg mayo, pickled carrots, cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeno....finished with a dash of maggi seasoning and black pepper. All the ingredients were fresh and the cold cuts weren't salty and heavily processed. The fillings could have been layered more evenly but it hit ALL the notes of rich, savory, tangy, and sweet with light spicy kick. S E R V I C E Friendly. There's only one auntie making bánh mì so it may take some time if there's a line. If you're dining in, they'll bring your bánh mì to you and you pay at the register when you're finished. Overall, I'm glad to see Sing Sing reemerge as Bánh Mì A Mui. If you're craving a legit bánh mì, def hit up this humble mom and pop shop.

Newly opened Banh Mi place on Geary in the Laurel/Inner Richmond/Lone Mountain area. This place used to be Just Futon and that closed a while ago, so now it's a banh mi place. Right across the street from Mel's! Banh mi a mui may be related to Sing Sing Sandwich shop formerly in the TL, but I can't be certain. We recently came by to try their Banh Mi sandwiches. The prices are so budget friendly! Incredibly reasonable at $8. Not sure if this price is sustainable, but wow, let's support local so we can have a great sandwich place with such an amazing price! Both the Bánh mì đặc biệt and the Tofu Bánh mì were delicious. Filled with protein, fresh veggies and herbs. Small menu with just a few banh mi selections, but definitely quality. Spacious, clean and comfy interior to eat in and/or take out. Only negative on this recent visit is maybe they are new and still working on how to take orders and making sandwiches as the ordering was slightly chaotic. Even after we ordered, they skipped over us and gave our sandwiches to some people after us and then realizing what happened, they made our sandwiches again, but the bread was half toasted because they were rushing. My suggestion is to take the order, let customers pay, and then assign a number so that everyone is assigned the number in an orderly manner. Or if possible, use TOS so that customers can order on the tablet and they can concentrate on making sandwiches. However I know this can add more expenses for them, but if this support their increased sales in the future, it may be something they can look into. Located on Geary and Beaumont Ave.

Crispy, toasted but not too mouth cutting iykyk. Appreciate that the Banh mi was cut in half without asking for. Special combo was flavorful with the marinated pork floss as well the typical cha luo and pork belly cold cuts. Meats weren't overly salty. Veggies and herbs were fresh but wish they packed more It's $8 for any of their 5 viet sandwiches. They're still having their buy 5 get 1 free grand opening deal so made use of that! Never had sing sing back in TL but I've heard of it so I'm happy to get to try it now. Service is a little slow though. Plus was a little disappointed that people who came in to order after me were able to get theirs first

I always in a hunt for a good sandwich . One of my favorite types of sandwich is the Banh Mi. San Francisco has lots of places now which offers Banh Mi in almost every neighborhood in the city. You can find Banh Mi to be more favorable and have better nutritional value than most delis sandwiches and also less costly. There is a newer Banh Mi place which just opened this year in the city and its located on Geary boulevard in San Francisco. On a Spring stroll in a cool breeze and with sun out on Geary boulevard I landed at Banh Mi A Mui. Inside there are lots of flowers and plants and a few tables available to dine in. They have a minimalist menu but what stood out was the Vietnamese Head Cheese Sandwich also known as Banh Mi Gio Thu. I had never had cheese in my Banh mi but I soon found out there was no dairy or cheese in the Head Cheese Banh Mi. I thought this sandwich would be cheesy like some deli's in SF. I am glad I ordered it because it was savory and delicious. The baguette was soft and the vegetables were fresh. The meat was soft and overall it was better than expected. This is my new spot to grab a head cheese in SF. When it comes to sandwich and for" Don Juan "for me it's the "Banh" which means bread in Vietnamese and bread in India it's known as "Naan"and in Latin America and in Spanish is also known as "pan"( pronounced in Spanish as Pahn) On Spring stroll in SF enjoy the sun and the "breeze" grabbing one of my favorite sandwiches which is the Banh mi which is "Vietnamese" it may get unwanted crumbs and flakes like some in SF if you give the bread too hard of a "squeeze""this is the first time in SF trying the "Head Cheese"

Been on a tour of all the banh mi places in Richmond and was excited to try. The meats were definitely sliced thin. I like my meats a little thicker cut to taste it. The bread was not bad, although it was a little crunchier than I prefer. The flavor was good, but I do wish there was a little more filling overall. Next time going to ask for extra pate. For the neighborhood, the price is good and probably one of the cheapest options. Just keep in mind that there's only one person working, so if you come during the lunch rush, the line and wait can get pretty long (waited 30 min). I came on a Wednesday and they were already sold out around 12:30-1 PM, so I'd recommend going earlier if you want to make sure you get one.

Black Ice Coffee($4)(05/11/26)

Was on my morning walk when I noticed that the corner banh mi spot finally had opened today(05/11/2026). Walked in and was warmly welcomed by the staff/owners. The interior was brightly light with a few tables spread through and also counter seating as well. A decently big space fitting maybe 30-40 people. The counter has a cooler where you can see the meats and packaged cha lua in front. There is an open kitchen behind the counter. I placed my ordered and it came out super fast. They currently have a promo like many other Banh mi spots where if you buy 5, you get one free. I ordered a Black Ice Coffee and a Special Combo Banh Mi to go. 1) Black Ice Coffee(7/10)($4) - The staff did warn me that the black coffee was very strong, which is to my liking. It's a strong black coffee with earthy notes and a bit bitter. You get a small cup and it does wake you up for sure. A kin to an espresso shot but a bit less smooth. 2) Special Combination/Dac Biet Banh Mi(7.1/10)($8) - A very good banh mi. The ratio of meats/fillings to bread was really good, didn't feel overly bready and it was a good balance. I personally prefer a bit more pickled veggies and cilantro as it keeps it from feeling too heavy and a slightly less sweeter cha siu/cured pork. The bread was decent - had a crunchy exterior and decent fluffiness. Comes with your typical filling of steamed pork(cha lua), head cheese(gio thu), cured pork(Thit Nguoi), Pork Floss(cha bong), pate, pickled veggies and jalapeños. Overall, a decent Banh mi and for the price of $8, it was super affordable in the city! It won't wow or rival those in San Jose, but still very good especially for a quick lunch that won't break the bank!

Guess what?I got there 8:40 am Saturday and they were not open. A car with people inside parked in front and they smiled and shrugged. They were waiting. I had to leave without my black coffee. I was so looking forward to one. Beware. When I went by around 2:30 pm the Open sign was lit. Another attempt, Sunday at 11:30 am, open. Quite a few people sitting. Vietnamese music blasting. I ordered tofu sandwich $8 and black coffee (Vietnamese coffee) cheap for $4. Sat down and waited. I was going to plant myself and eat in like everyone else. The sandwich was brought to me with coffee in a glass. I haven't eaten like a civilized person for a long time. Other places have no sit down. This was really enjoyable. The music was turned down. Coffee was great with ice cubes. Sandwich had jalapeños pepper. I usually take out but it was crunchy and added to the flavor. Tofu was thick flat kind. Sandwich was delicious. The owner explained why they close early. Once they sell out at 1 pm they just close. Good explanation. In terms of why they didn't open yesterday morning, no explanation. They were nice. I paid my $12 and left. What a steal! Saw some weekend bicyclists waiting for their sandwiches. I can see this place as a regular visit. Im super excited that they opened.

If you loved Sing Sing in the TL, you need to check out their brand new spot: Banh Mi A Miu. It's the same owner and the exact same iconic menu, but in a much bigger, more comfortable space! Stopped by on a weekday afternoon and there was zero wait. Even better? Since they just opened, they're running a buy 5, get 1 free deal right now.

Clean, well kept local spot located on a corner. Generous amounts of sandwich filling at reasonable prices-made fresh upon ordering. Vietnamese coffee very good and is $4. Friendly, helpful, and professional. Dining area is ample, well lit, and well kept.

A great new addition to the neighborhood. The menu is simple: pick your banh mi and wait at one of the tables or counter. Staff is friendly and explained that they relocated from another long-time location after that building was sold. We had a chicken and a tofu banh mi, both were tasty with fresh bread and a generous amount of filling. For $8, it is hard to go wrong. Next time I want to try the iced coffee, it looked delicious.

#4 Chicken Banh Mi

My friend highly recommended this new shop in the neighborhood and it did not disappoint! The owner is a very sweet lady with a tidy, spacious restaurant serving a variety of banh mi and drinks. I tried the #4 chicken banh mi and enjoyed the well toasted baguette and delicious fillings! Dining in was fun to rest and hear the Vietnamese elders chatter in the background.

The same owner who used to owned Banh Mi Sing Sing in Tenderloin now has a new location here on Geary. I had their banh mi today, and it was crispy and delicious. The combo banh mi is only $8, which is a great deal. The location is convenient, and there's easy street parking. Overall, it's the second best authentic Vietnamese banh mi shop in San Francisco.

Combo ... many meat missing including white sweet radish
Cuddly B.

I ordered a Combo banh mi. & many slices of combo meat was missing compared to a banh mi in San Jose or elsewhere. This place does not give the sweet white radish. The Combo was incredibly bland & i couldn't taste the pate. Overall, a waste of money & never returning nor recommended. Total disappointment. I see the owner gave a large dog belonging to another customer after me six slices of white pork. I guess the dog was luckily than me if i had jumped on her counter!!!

I think this is the old sing sing? They just change location and name. But the owners are the same.

Hi. You are absolutely correct, we are the former Sing Sing Coffee shop. With the SFPD not able to do anything about the dozens of drug addicts camping on Hyde st. It was not a safe nor clean location to continue at that location. Looking forward…

There was a lot of natural light in the coffee shop, definitely a visually-appealing, 'aesthetic' place. I got an iced red tea and it was delicious. The tea was botanical, smooth and fragrant. Amazing experience! Excited to come back and try the coffee and pastries, which looked super fresh.

It seems like there's also an upstairs but did not get the chance to check it out. I got an iced latte with their almond macadamia milk, and they're also so nice to do complimentary cold brew! So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

Early grey crepe cake- if you like earl grey tea and crepe cake this would be a strong contestant. The tea flavor was immense and I liked how the layered cream was airy and a bit foamy that makes the earl grey cream the main character of the cake. Passion fruit - really good!! The passion fruit flavor was deep and strong with real seeds in the cream. It has a very slight hint of tangy and a very well done flavor profile! Sesame basque - if you like a creamy basque cheesecake and sesame then this would be wonderful. For me, basque cheesecake usually isn't my go-to as I like something more light and airy, but the black sesame was very rich and tastes almost a bit savory. Flavor profile is a bit neutral and neither too sweet or savory. Pandan sponge cakes- pandan flavor stands out and I love how they use coconut flesh in between the layers. It's pretty creative! There's texture (soft pandan sponge cake + crunchy fresh coconut ) in this cake which is interesting, but when you cut the cake it might fall apart. I would say this cake plays more with texture and creativity and less on the perfecting the taste. Don't get me wrong it's still good! Not sure about service but my friend said she interrogated the staff so that she could select the best cakes for us :) Will Def be back !

I love that you can get individual slices instead of committing to a whole cake, which makes it so easy to try several flavors in one visit. The cakes are really pretty and have so many thin layers that each bite feels light and creamy. This is perfect if you enjoy lighter cakes. I think the Asian flavors are what make Sweet Glory stand out from a lot of other cake spots in the city. There are plenty of familiar flavors, but also combinations that you don't see anywhere else. The space is also surprisingly spacious, with plenty of indoor seating and a cute patio in the back. It's a nice place to sit down with a few slices and take your time. Great dessert spot if you want to try a few different cakes in one visit. The fact that you can order by the slice makes it especially easy to explore the menu without having to choose just one.
