Had been wanting to try the specialty matcha for quite sometime and happened to be in the area for the Fillmore Jazz Festival and seized the opportunity. The offering was a raspberry based iced matcha so I was curious to try. Overall the matcha was good but I would have preferred to have more raspberry fruit chucks instead of the puree version. Service was fast given the number of people in the area for the festival with minimal seating available as it's primarily a grab and go place.
I ordered the: Cardamom Rose Black Tea Latte Lavender Iced Latte Rose honey Iced latte The cardamom rose black tea latte was my favorite drink from their menu so far and it was strong and flavorful. Lavender Iced latte I loved their lavender syrup(house made) Rose honey iced latte, I didn't mind it but the rose wasn't strong enough in the iced drink
I decided to stop by and order an iced raspberry matcha latte, which was $7 before tip. It was done within 2 minutes, and the raspberry part was very sweet and fruity. The matcha itself is decently strong too but make sure you mix it if you want the flavor to be even throughout, or alternately you could drink it from the top to gradually go from a strong matcha flavor down to a dairy and sweet finish at the bottom. Overall I thought it was pretty good, just wish it was not as pricey!

This is a cute very quaint coffee house in a pretty busy area of town. I got a cortado as that is my go to at most coffeehouses and it definitely was too milky. I felt like the ratio was off. My husband got a cappuccino and he loved it. So probably a place worth stopping by if you're in the area but for me it wasn't anything to rave about. Service was friendly.

I asked the girl taking my order what she recommended and we decided on the Raspberry Matcha since that was the reason I wanted to go there in the first place LOL. She was the most friendliest staff I have ever come across! It felt like we became friends at the moment!! She also let me know that if I didn't like my drink we could trade it out. Of course I tried my drink and did NOT want to trade it out... it was soooo yummy!! Even though the shop was pretty busy she still made the time to double check and make sure I liked my drink. EXTRA POINTS!! The space is small but super cute! I wouldn't recommend working here but a great space for pick up or to grab coffee with a friend! There is seating outside which would be perfect when the weather is nice.
Came here on a Saturday morning and the line was long and out the door and the place itself is pretty loud and cramped inside, so I grabbed my drink to go. I ordered a latte with oat milk and added the peppermint syrup from their holiday menu, and easily one of the best lattes I've had. What really made it work was how subtle the peppermint was. It wasn't sweet or candy cane like at all but more herbal. And despite all the chaos, the baristas were super friendly. The person taking my order was especially helpful and patient. This was the perfect drink for a cold SF morning and a long walk afterward. Worth the line for me, at least for that peppermint latte.
It's been over four years since I last tried Compton's Coffee House, and frankly I had forgotten that I'd been here before until I saw my own review upon checking in. Despite this passage of time, my latest visit was just as good as the first time (based on my previous review!) My partner and I both decided to get flat whites. Both came out at the perfect temperature - hot but not tongue-scalding. The espresso was *strong*, and the steamed milk had the perfect creamy mouthfeel, with an extra bonus of pretty art. It was quite busy when we stopped by shortly before lunchtime on a Saturday. There was a line out the door, but it moved quickly; it took a bit longer to get our drinks, but understandable given their popularity. The staff we interacted with were all lovely. I wish I lived closer to Compton's so I could go more often! Next time I return, hopefully it'll be much sooner than four years.
Fav coffee shop in the city hands down! I love the location of this one, I have found it tough to work from here because space and seats are a bit limited and they do get taken pretty quickly... but it's great to stop, grab a drink and stroll fillmore. I always get the raspberry matcha which is delicious each time, unique flavor combination and solid matcha. Recently I got the maple cinnamon latte and really enjoyed it! Wasn't too sweet but could still taste hints of maple and cinnamon, and overall great coffee :)

Compton's has such a sweet neighborhood vibe! While it attracts a lot of new/weekend visitors, it's definitely a neighborhood staple for regulars. The staff are super friendly and are the heart of what makes this place so special. The coffee is always fantastic. I always get a vanilla latte, either iced or hot, and it's always a consistently good cup. I'm also a big fan of their raspberry matcha. They have a seasonal drinks menu that features a few creative and unique styles drinks. I always stop here or walk by on my walks because even if I don't get a drink, the vibe is so uplifting. There are always people and dogs pouring out. It's truly a third space. The other day I saw two women get to chatting because one was knitting and the other stopped to introduce herself and invite her to a craft group. Just adore!!!! read more
EARL GREY latte. I love Earl Grey everything (One65 offers earl grey blackberry mouse cake). Compton's is a small coffee house with both interior and exterior seating and a perfect spot to grab coffee or tea before/after Fillmore shopping. The pasty selection is standard however the lattes are premium - they make their syrup in house and espresso beans are always fresh. read more

Came on a Saturday around 11:15 am and they were quite busy so my drink took around 10 mins. I ordered an iced vanilla oat latte and though it was a good strength and sweetness, something about the flavor tasted off to me, like an artificial taste. Decent price and size. read more

Great little coffee shop on Fillmore in Pacific Heights. This place was jumping, with a long line out the door. Seating is available both inside and out. The coffee is excellent!! We definitely enjoyed our time together here. It's a great little place! read more

If the place is super crowded at all times, it's a sign that we must try it !!! This is a cute little cafe with wifi and limited seatings. Their seasonal coffees are famous. I tried orange infused cappuccino- Loved it! We also tried, veg scone - Delicious! It is savory with some cheese and hint of garlic and spring onions. (I think) Morning bun: it is cinnamon coated pastry , not too sweet , just perfect. Coffee is not too strong, kind of on milder side. So order as per your preference. read more
Unfortunately, this matcha was a miss for me the iced matcha latte tasted so watery and bland. I tried to add honey to sweeten it, but it only made it slightly better. The raspberry matcha latte was definitely better than the normal matcha latte, but it was sooo raspberry forward, it just tasted over sweet and like drinking straight raspberry flavored syrup. Super cute shop though and nice, fast service! read more
great coffee, friendly staff, drinks come out quickly even when they're busy. i love that they still offer soy milk and it's less than $1, which is rare for the city. it's also so rare to have at least 1 labeled vegan option in the pastry case, which i really appreciate and would always love to see more of. read more
I am so, so appreciative of the staff for working on Thanksgiving Day, and I am glad they closed early and could hopefully spend time with loved ones. My friend and I dropped by Compton's Coffee House for caffeine and to warm up. The shop is quite small but due to the holiday, there weren't many people inside. I got the raspberry matcha and it came out quickly. The matcha was a gorgeous green, and did not taste bitter. The raspberry syrup was a bit of a letdown to me as it tasted more candy-like than I had expected and overpowered the matcha. While I did like the raspberry matcha as an overall drink, next time I will likely order a plain matcha latte to better taste the tea. read more

This place was pretty packed at 2pm on a Saturday. Inside and outside people were sitting and enjoying great coffee and a beautiful day. I got the earl grey latte with oat milk and it was Delicious! Excellent recommendation by the barista. Deff quality coffee with a hint of fruit loop flavor from the floral of the earl grey. I would come again for their coffee for sure. read more

Yum! Great medium sized coffee shop. Parking wasn't bad on a Wednesday morning so I was able to park right at front. My coffee was great I got one of their seasonal drinks that had orange in it and a scone. Coffee came out so quick too. read more

Compton's was bustling on a Saturday morning, but the line moves quickly. Inside is long and narrow with a few small tables. There's wifi, but because of how packed and loud it is, I can't imagine doing work here, at least on the weekends. While waiting to eat at Woodhouse Fish Co. right next door, we sipped on the lavender latte and the Touch of Grey, a special spring latte with house made earl grey syrup. Both drinks were yummy but tasted pretty similar. I was searching for the earl grey flavor and couldn't really find it, so I wish I got their elderflower spritz with espresso, lemonade, and elderflower syrup instead. I enjoyed the drinks, but since this coffeeshop is out of the way for me, I'd probably only get Compton's again if I was in the area. read more
One of my friends told me that this was one of her favorite coffee shops in the city, so I've had it bookmarked for a while. I decided to stop by on a Tuesday morning and it was packed. Order at the register, find a seat, and pick up your order once it's called. Even though coffee house is in the name, I decided to order the Cardamom Rose Black Tea Latte ($5.50) since the flavors called out to me. +Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongue +Tea was strong. +Creamy and not too sweet -Couldn't taste the rose, which was overpowered by the cardamom. -Unlike lattes w/coffee & matcha, there's no latte art. Side notes: 1.) Indoor bar and bench seating and outdoor table seating 2.) Restrooms available for customers 3.) Walking distance from 38/38R bus stop *Verdict: With the plants and jazz music playing in the background, this was a relaxing way to start off my day. It's a nice spot to meet up with someone or WFH. Next time I'll try one of their coffee options. read more

I tried the raspberry matcha here. While the matcha was really yummy, the raspberry flavor was quite artificial and I was not a huge fan. My friend and I shared 2 pastries and they were ok but not super flavorful. The inside was cute! I would recommend regular matcha latte or coffee and skipping the pastries. read more
I was craving a matcha Latte while walking around the Cherry Blossom Festival. Saw someone with a matcha drink and was directed to this cool cafe. We we 2nd in line haven't just missed the long line. All the baristas were quick and efficient carefully preparing all the drinks. There were good matcha flavor but prefer it a bit bolder in our hot and iced lattes. Simple syrup was pure and not overly sweet like other chain shops. I only wish the hot drinks were much hotter. read more

On a random morning stroll, I popped in and ordered the early grey latte w/ shot of espresso and oat milk. Was pleasantly surprise how delicious it was and it was more on the creamer and sweet side. Would definitely be back for that. Place was quiet, quaint, and service was quick. read more

I tried the lavender latte and it was so smooth and perfectly balanced in flavor. I also tried the vanilla latte, which tasted like a marshmallow. The service was friendly and quick, but the seating is very limited given how busy this place gets. read more
