It was pretty chill inside a very small establishment and unassuming from the outside and without any seating on the inside, there were a few folks in line who are also getting sandwiches so they sell that in addition to coffee. I was excited to see Third Wheel Coffee open up their permanent location and stopped by to grab coffee on a Friday morning! I was surprised to see a line but it moved quickly. I tried their seasonal Tangelo Honey Latte and the Yuzu-Shiso Fizz (with 2 shots of espresso added). I enjoyed the housemade tangelo honey syrup which was light and not too sweet but the latte itself was on the weaker side and too diluted with oat milk for my taste. I like the yuzu-shiso fizz more as the shiso really came through and it was a nice and refreshing option if you're looking for something without milk. Overall cute spot to have in the neighborhood! I just wish the coffee was a bit stronger. read more

Third wheel is my happy place I have only been there twice, but both times were so magical and gave me an immediate rush of serotonin. To their story represented in watercolor on the wall, to their kind staff, they encompass such a sincere/passionate business. Their cups and merchandise are also adorable. I stopped by for a black sesame matcha latte ($7) on a cold day and appreciated the kind and quick service. The flavor of the latte confused me though because it didn't taste like black sesame and the matcha flavor wasn't as strong as I would've liked. My sister tried it too and agreed that the black sesame flavor wasn't representative. It was still a pleasant drink, but not what I was expecting. After a few days exploring San Francisco, I can confidently say Third Wheel Coffee was the best coffee of the trip! Tucked inside a small deli shop, it has a cozy, quaint vibe with super friendly service. Bonus: dogs are welcome, so we even got to meet some of the regulars (the four-legged ones). We ordered from the Seasonal Specials menu. The Fig & Honey Latte was one of the best lattes I've had in a long time, balanced, rich, and just sweet enough. The Pistachio Rose Matcha was equally impressive, with the perfect matcha color and a floral, nutty flavor that wasn't overly sweet. Both drinks were beautifully crafted and memorable. The coffee came out super quick, and I thought the latte tasted great especially when paired with the pastry, though I will note I had trouble tasting the blackberry component. Maybe this could be enhanced to allow for that contrast. The story of this cafe on how they opened was cute and was apparent in how caring and lovely the business was. Went to the Grand Opening today at Third Wheel's brick and mortar location. This place rocks. Best coffee and drinks in the city with a curated selection of seasonal specials that keep things interesting, but also the classics perfected. They're starting to make ice cream in-house as well for affogato which I enjoyed today. The pastries taste delicious, whether you go with a sweet or savory option (and my wife and I have tried most of them at this point). Another cold day in SF where I really wanted a mocha. I'd heard of this place before from TikTok and such so decided to finally try it. I had no idea it was located in the same space as Lucinda's deli (another spot I'll try and review later). The space is pretty small and right as you enter you're welcomed by some pretty cool merch and to your immediate right is the cafe. The baristas are super friendly and great at connecting with everyone placing an order. I let them know I typically have a sweet tooth and would like to have this mocha on the sweeter side and they immediately offered a couple ways they could sweeten it on their end. Got the coconut cold brew, which was definitely a unique drink I haven't had before (coconut oil fat washed) and of course that extra couple of steps and effort in making the cold brew is nice. However the drink itself was just not as strong or particularly refreshing as I expected for something that is sold as a cold brew alone, with no added sugar/syrups or milk. This is one of their signature drinks so I also had higher expectations and I don't think it stands out as its own special. The stand is cute, a little cramped, and I wouldn't be mad to get another drink from here but I wouldn't seek it out again either. $8 for a two or three ingredient coffee is just not for me but maybe it's just an SF thing. read more

Both our lattes were incredibly smooth and tasty. We grabbed a chocolate mochi muffin as well as a ham and cheese croissant. There wasn't any seating so we went to the park nearby to eat on the grass. You pay first before receiving your order on the right hand side of the counter. I'm ruined -- the Pumpkin Spice Latte at third wheel is exactly what I've always wanted a PSL to taste like and now I can never enjoy one from anywhere else ever again! A super small coffee spot in SF with a really good latte! I came to Third Wheel Coffee pretty much with no expectations but I ended up really enjoying it! It's located inside a deli and the friendly barista that served me was really nice. I got the Iced Latte with the Rose & Cardamom syrup. I don't think I ever had that before in my coffee and I really liked it! Their latte was smooth and there wasn't anything overpowering for the floral notes of the syrup. It is a pick up and go type of cafe, so be wary of that if it is something that is important for you. The baristas were so kind and provided great service. The was basically no wait for my drinks either. They were quick with it. I really enjoyed the coffee I had. The espresso in the cortado tasted great. Whoever dialed in the coffee did really good. I came by to grab a sandwich from Lucinda's but showed up too late and they were sold out. I'm always one to search for the silver lining and Third Wheel Coffee was that. I talked to the very nice staff member and asked some questions about the coffee. It was already 2:30pm and I had a few cups of coffee earlier in the day so I opted for one of the sweeter, specialty options. I ended up ordering the Blackberry Crumble Cappuccino ($6) and a Samovar Chai Latte- iced ($5.25). They were both done quickly and I was on my way in no time. The location is a pickup/ to go spot and there aren't really any places to sit there. If you head in earlier than I did, it would be a great spot to pick up a sandwich and drink and head out to a park or back home. We ended up enjoying our drinks on the ride home to Sacramento. I hope to come by again soon and enjoy both Lucinda's and Third Wheel Coffee together. read more
