It's seems people who are inspired by Peets Coffee go start up another coffee company like the people who started Starbucks and also the person who started Compton's Coffee House. This Compton's Coffee House is located in North Beach. Inside it has a mix of digital nomads , locals, and tourist. It is a good place to have coffee and pastries. I got the vanilla mocha and it was a bit too sweet for me. The caffeine level of the mocha was low but it had a good taste. I got the croissant. The croissant tasted like a shopping mall handmade pretzel. I also got the Raspberry Matcha iced which sounds good but it was too sweet for me. The bottom of the drink felt like it was loaded with NutraSweet. If you want to be cognitively arouse Grab a cup of coffee with an extra shot at Compton's Coffee House

In house made vanilla syrup is delicious. it was a treat since nonfat milk is not an option. One size only for drinks. Would've liked the latte a bit hotter, but overall delightful .

Big fan of Comptons here! I usually stop in roughly every other week to get a chai or raspberry matcha. Sometimes a lemon poppy seed muffin if they still have some! Everyone who works here is super nice from the interactions I've had and always has a smile on their face! Typically clean and filled with people doing work during the week but can get pretty crowded on the weekends sometimes. I have heard some complaints that lattes need an extra shot here and that your drink quality really depends on who is making it. But overall the drink quality is pretty consistent when I come in. Their seasonal drinks are also great if one speaks to you! I do miss their cardamom latte and would love to see it on the menu all year round but still love the rotating seasonal choices!

If you're ever by Washington Square Park and you need a little coffee pick me up situation, Compton's is always my go-to. It's usually full on the weekend, but they have lots of indoor seating. If it's busy, you can head to the park with your drink. They offer such high quality coffee that always hits. My friend gets the matcha latte and loves it! I have to recommend my absolute fav (I am not sure if you can get this at other coffee shops) - a latte infused or espresso steeped with Earl Grey essentially an Earl Grey Latte. It's so unique and hits the spot for me. I've only got it here at Comption's. It's delicious, strong and just a unique coffee experience!

The peppermint hot chocolate? HITS! I wish I had gotten a size upgrade because it was so yummy and the perfect drink for the rainy weather. They also had a peppermint mocha and matcha! I also like that this Compton's location is very spacious and has a lot of seats. There is free wifi and a lot of people were working from there.

After seeing holiday drinks on instagram, i finally made my way over here and I'm definitely gonna be back! Comptons is spacious with a lot of tables, restrooms, and a nice vibe overall! I got the peppermint mocha and it was delicious -- the peppermint was just the right amount, not overpowering. My friend ordered the peppermint hot chocolate which was also very good, not too sweet and very creamy. The coffee has to be some of the best I've had in the city! I will definitely be coming back to check out their other drinks like the lavender latte and orange blossom mocha :)

Very good lavender latte! My grandson also enjoyed the hot chocolate and both his almond croissant AND MY morning bun lolz. Nice, clean comfortable cafe where we enjoyed our drinks and pastries. Front counter help was funny and helpful and we witnessed him be very kind to an unhoused person

This is a very quiet and cute coffee shop, that is surrounded by other shops. There is lots to do in the area. Really enjoyed this Raspberry Matcha latte, service was friendly and quick. Don't have anything bad to say, but also didn't try enough things to give it a 5/5. Will be back :)

Compton's Coffee House is a clean and spacious coffee spot with lots of seating! There's one large table in the middle of the store with several smaller tables littered throughout. Great space to work from! I was taking a stroll in the area & decided to stop by Compton's for my coffee fix. They gots lots of syrups to choose from and milk alternatives cost $0.75. I got the lavender latte & vanilla latte. The vanilla latte was the better one. Their vanilla syrup blends well with the oat milk and was frothed very nicely. The lavender latte was a little disappointing. Most coffee shops don't carry lavender on its menu so when it's available, I always get it. Compton's version tasted a little too floral for my liking & had that fake syrupy taste if you know what I mean. I do wish the coffee was stronger though. Overall, highly recommend if you need to quiet workspace with lots of outlets. Not your superb artisanal coffee but does the trick! There was no line and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Parking: HARD; no parking lot nearby. located on Columbus street in North Beach, sandwiched between Chinatown & Fisherman's Wharf, residential parking is hit or miss /:

Came here Saturday morning for a coffee & matcha at 8am the line was already to the door so that already tells you it's going to be good! The coffee was tasty and strong perfect amount of sweetness and strong it came out quickly and I loved the vibe of the coffee shop! The matcha was pretty good just wish they whisked it a bit more but other than that I would recommend & come back :)

A really good coffee shop with laid back and friendly vibe. This is definitely a place to stop by and recharge when you're in the area. Local or tourists would equally find this coffee shop to be approachable, cozy and welcoming to all. I've had a hot regular latte, it was nutty, creamy and delicious to the last drop!

Great coffee and pastries. A perfect place to come enjoy a drink and there is plent of seating. Drinks were simple and what you would expect from a standard coffee shop. The bacon croissant was different and pretty tasty. I wished the chocolate hazelnut was more flakey.

Great spot to get work done (wifi and outlets), this place has good pastries from Starter Bakery and makes a lot of their syrups in house.

After…read morelanding from my flight and walking down along the Fisherman's Wharf to see the piers, we stopped at Cafe de Casa for our first bite and a place to cool down. The interior is honestly gorgeous. There's a lot of seating and fun decor all around, and it feels like a place you'd want to sit and hang out for a while. The menu is displayed on the wall and offers Brazilian style cafe items like cheese breads, sandwiches, pastries, and specialty drinks like matcha, coffee, and seasonal beverages. Right away though, the service felt off. The workers came across pretty uninviting and seemed more focused on chatting with each other than interacting with customers, which is always a red flag. The prices are also pretty steep, which might be because of the location. I ordered the pistachio matcha and the Brazilian cream cheese sandwich. I don't like my matcha too sweet because I want to actually taste the matcha, so I asked for less sugar. Instead, I was told they'd just add less pistachio cream. The drink ended up being really disappointing. It tasted super flavorless and almost watery. The pistachio cream itself was nice and had real pistachio pieces on top, but it didn't save the drink. For almost $10, it just didn't make sense, especially when their regular matcha is around $7.60. Also, there were no prices listed for seasonal drinks, so you don't really know what you're paying until checkout. The cheese sandwich was good and warm, filled with that Brazilian cream cheese. It was enjoyable, but not something I'd go out of my way for again. It's about the size of a McChicken and priced at $7.60, which feels a little high considering there's no protein, just cream cheese. Overall, I'm not sure if this is just a tourist spot because of its location near the piers, but I left more confused than satisfied.
