This coffee shop is at a very busy intersection, right by Battery and Market. It's rather accessible for most of the working population who work in-office in the Financial District, and that's what makes it special. While the storefront seems pretty welcoming on the outside, I could say otherwise about the customer service side of things. I was soon met not just with unwelcoming hospitality, but also, utter rudeness while ordering my coffee. I felt rushed, and when I asked about the pastries, all the one person that ordered it was: "this is what we have." I'm asking you to specify the pastries because... I GENUINELY don't know what they are? Like we're not experts at pastries compared to baristas that know their stuff -- let alone some random customer like me who doesn't know the name of EVERY pastry. Eventually, after that, I ordered the croissant and a cortado, and both tasted wonderful. The croissant was flaky and very buttery, and the cortado was a great combination to it as well. Ambiance isn't too bad -- there's small tables, but also, very spacious seating on the window side of the seating where there's a bar and more. Was not a fan of the price point but the drink was good -- I poured a generous amount of honey in it and the vanilla donut was sweet but good. Best coffee I had during a week in San Francisco--a week that included Equator, Ritual, Saint Franks, Andytown, Home, and a few other places. I had a single origin espresso and a pour over. My friend had a macchiato; everything was great but the pour over (a natural processed coffee whose origin I can't remember) was the standout. Coffee came out quickly, even the pour over, and there was plenty of seating. In downtown San Francisco, a small coffee drink and doughnut will cost you $10.75. It's all top notch quality for sure, so a nice office breakfast indulgence. Kinda limited menu, but at least what they serve is good. Mocha: Perfectly sweet and creamy, without needing to anything. Loved how it didn't taste like chocolate syrup, but rather had a complex and sophisticated flavor. Not a huge portion like at Starbucks or Dunkin', so savor it slowly. Cold Brew: Pretty intense cold brew. Even with my normal sweetener and half-n-half, it had a lot of personality. Affogato: Ignore the shamers and get an affogato in the morning if you want! It's got the buzzy espresso you need to get the day going, with a refreshing creamy vanilla ice cream. They'll serve it in a ceramic bowl, if you ask, so you can eat it there and avoid judgmental eyes outside watching you have ice cream for breakfast. Chocolate Rose Doughnut: Love a nice chocolate cakey doughnut with a sugar glaze. Allegedly there was rose flavor too, but I barely tasted it. Everything Pull-Apart: Kinda like a croissant meets and everything bagel. Enjoyed the savory buttery dough and all the different flavored spices and seeds. read more

I recently checked out Flywheel Coffee Roasters for the first time and enjoyed the experience there. I just ordered a black, no frills Americano, which was hot and tasty. A friend and I stuck hung out for a little while to catch up since they have a cozy indoor seating area with lots of natural light in the afternoon from the big windows at the front. The coffee shop had waves of busy-ness - I'm not certain if that's typical as part of office workers' (or tourists', since it's close-ish to Embarcadero) post-lunch caffeine run or if it was due to a conference happening in the area. The barista half-heartedly did a couple pours, and left the coffee rest for much longer than I would have anticipated for a reasonable bloom time. Also tried the cappuccino, which has less milk and is a smaller cup size than the latte, if you'd like less milk and a stronger espresso aroma. Service is quick despite the occasional morning lines. Staff is friendly. There are several tables and seats inside if you'd like to sit and enjoy your coffee, or people-watch through the giant windows looking out on Market St. This location is super convenient to stop by after exiting the Montgomery and Embarcadero BART/MUNI stations. Luckily we had no issues with the wait at all as they get your drink out super quickly! I got a cappuccino which is not normally my coffee go to but definitely one of the best I've had in a while! ALL the workers are nice and upbeat including the owner! The coffee is good and ALWAYS fresh. The place is always packed with customers.

Very solid espresso, nice little shop downtown, there is some seating inside and service is generally pretty quick. Cortado was very nice.

Flywheel is my favorite spot for a good strong coffee in FiDi! My latte is always extremely well made, the espresso is made with high quality coffee beans, and the milk and foam are always steamed to the perfect temperature, making my latte silky smooth and brightening my day the moment I have my first sip. I have never had a bad experience with my drink at Flywheel! Kudos to Arnold, Cristian, Fuki, and the whole team on Battery street! They have perfected their craft and make the best drinks a girl could ask for! The team here is super welcoming and you can tell they genuinely enjoy working together. Even when they are super busy with the morning rush, or the post lunch rush, they do their best to give you high quality drinks and fast service. It's not just me who loves Flywheel, everyone in my office does too! This is a Nicaraguan owned coffee shop and their coffee is superb. All of my coworkers go to Flywheel and Flywheel always makes us feel special and at home.
