Situated in the iconic Niles district, you can grab a cup, walk the antique shops, check out a classic car and even enjoy a tasty brunch at skillet'z across the street before or after enjoying your dose of caffeinated bliss. They're still quite popular these days and take their time making that perfect cup for you, so be prepared to see a line out the door. I need to check out their Renegade shop concept where they also serve food that's more than just pastries. We ordered a mocha, latte, and Gibraltar. The mocha tasted similar is Mexican chocolate, which was a pleasant surprise. The way a cold brew coffee should be for my tastes. I liked; especially surprisingly how available and on-the-go ready it was. The coffee barista was kind and helpful even when he had a line; I believe Tom was his name. I really dig the cozy indoor atmosphere of this spot and only wished I lived closer but this place is certainly worth more visits. This review is for the matcha at Devout Coffee specifically! If you want a no frills, not overly sweet, straight to the point quality matcha, this is the place for you. First off, Devout's location is fantastic and lively. I would recommend to park across and a little down the street in the free public parking lot and take a little stroll over here. I appreciated the modern vibe inside and the indoor seating was quite spacious, it's a nice place to get some work done or catch up with friends. Ordering was made simple and quick with the kiosk at the entrance, and service was quick despite it being busy. I like that when ordering you are asked "for here" or "to go" so that when ordering a hot drink there is less waste being created. My only complaints are that there's no shade provided for a majority of their outdoor seating, they upcharge for alternative milk, although it is about half of what other coffee shops in Fremont usually charge, and there is only one size option for your beverage. read more

Great coffee shop located in a cute little town. We grabbed a latte and a mocha and both were very delicious. Pastry case had some unique flavored pasties, but come early for the selection. Apparently this town was used to film silent movies back in the days. There is a very nice museum nearby attributed to the silent movie industry. We took a walk with our coffees and chatted with the local store owners along the way. All were so very nice to share their stories. Took a guest here this winter. She is very devout herself, so it was a side bonus that she instantly felt connected to the shop just because of the name. The coffee was delicious and had a unique flavor. It was really good. I also liked the peppermint hot mocha. The staff not at the bar were also really nice (I'm sure the those on bar were nice too, just busy.) I'm sure its aesthetically pleasing usually, but was *stuffed* with people. The few staff looked swamped. I do want to give some grace to that, considering we also added to that burden lol, but they did make a few mistakes on the order-- they had to remake it once, and then they realized they didnt catch something when we ordered, which forced a substitution that was worth $1 less than I paid for, so they remade that drink again. I wasn't about make them run a refund when they were already running around like headless chickens, but they also didn't offer it. They warned us 20 minutes estimate, but I suppose it wasn't surprising we waited 40ish. No deal breakers, but all together kind of made me wish I hadn't already tipped. I had the pleasant surprise and opportunity to enjoy their coffee at their mobil setup at a wedding I attended at the Sikh Temple Gurdwara in Fremont CA. They were quick , explained everything and the coffee was perfection. Honestly I never knew they existed if it weren't for this setup. They were a hit as the lines for the coffee were consistent. It's not the most convenient place to park near, but it's usually not a big walk from wherever you find to park on the street. My main complaint is that they don't really offer any flavor options for their lattes. That said, their plain latte is quite good for what it is.
