L O C A T I O N R&B Tea is located in a set of buildings that are both residential and commercial off of Fremont Blvd. Because of the construction on the road, it's kind of hard to try to enter from the front, so I ended up finding my way to the back entrance. There is parking but they're quite tight, at least the one ones right next to the building. The other parking across are a bit wider. I N S I D E I entered through the back and there's a few tables that line up the side and there is a restroom inside. M E N U There's a variety of options on the menu from fresh fruits, teas, matcha, coffee, etc. I also appreciate they have quite a variety of snacks and food options which is nice cause I was hungry this day. Drinks also come in regular, large and extra large! I haven't seen extra large in a while. What I didn't like is that drinks defaulted to boba and if you remove it, you have to pay for whatever topping you do want. There are other shops that do this, but if you remove the boba topping and replace it with another, it doesn't charge you. I'm sure if you go to the register, you can get it comped. But I ordered through the kiosk. What you also don't know is that right now they have a Buy 2 get one Free drink but I only saw it after I turned from the kiosk to the desk which has the offer. I wish they had the sign near the kiosk which tells you to go to the register to order your drink and claim your offer. I got a Classic Milk Tea w/Boba and Wonton Noodle Soup. Both very classic flavors and I enjoyed both of them. Milk tea was your classic black milk tea and it was milky. The boba was unfortunately a bit overcooked. The noodles were a good chew. The wonton filled with flavorful pork and shrimp filling. Soup I'm sure was filled with salty deliciousness which definitely got me a bit dehydrated but I was expecting that. S E R V I C E The drinks came out first and I just had to wait for the food. I asked the person there about the free drink and he explained to me the process. I hinted at missing it and wished I knew it was available cause I did buy two drinks. Instead of potentially offering to do a one off extra drink since I missed it? I was told the offer would be around for a few more weeks. Oh well, it's my loss and maybe I'll come back. O V E R A L L Everything felt ok. I did appreciate the food options. The noodles did hit the spot. I just wish offers are posted in areas where you can clearly see them and not just at the cashier/pick up area. You can order ahead, order at any of their 2 touch screen kiosks, or even order from staff if need be (saw this happen). It did take some time for our drinks to come out but that was because there was only 1 staff working before his colleague clocked in and it was right after school when other students were ordering lots of drinks. I got the new on the menu Buckwheat Longjing Tea Latte. There's whipped cream and candied pecans on top. Reminds me a lot of what Chayan and Auntea Jenny are doing. Quite trendy. I got this at 25% sweet and it's not bad. Perfect level of sweetness that doesn't overpower the tea and the mix of whipped cream and a bite here or there of the candied nuts adds the a nice sugary pang to it. You can taste the roasted flavor of the buckwheat. Good stuff. I noticed that they also have the elegant "Oriental" style cups and the thing 3 prong flute straws. The big Chinese franchises are doing that and I don't recall the SoCal location having that so, it really does depend on which one you go to. Space: They cafe is full of 1x1 tables for party of 2. But, you can push them together for larger parties. Love that it's so mobile! Most chairs are hard wood, but there are a few with cushioned seating. There is one tall table and a "living room" style seating in one corner. Fuel: Suju's has a large menu of coffee, tea and other drinks. They offer breakfast and lunch options. Their pastries, bagels and dessert options are fantastic! As for the interior, there's lots of seating, and every time I visited there are many people studying or working on their laptops. The music isn't too loud, but sometimes locals are chatting pretty loudly (so studying and working here is hit or miss). My only criticism (which isn't every time) is the speed of service when it's busy. The staff is always friendly, but it often looks like there are only two or three people working. Because of that, sometimes it can take longer for an order to be ready, and I once received my "warmed up" pastry a little cold since they probably forgot about it and were working at the cashier counter or making drinks. The Brown Cheese Vanilla Croffle was definitely the highlight--crispy on the outside, soft inside, topped with creamy vanilla ice cream and rich brown cheese that added the perfect sweet and savory flavor. The Pistachio Matcha was smooth and well-balanced, and the Corn Einspanner was surprisingly delicious with its creamy corn foam. I haven't tried much of their offerings but in what I have, have not been bad at all. I've only had a couple of versions of milk teas here for drinks. They run about $7ish and are in big cups (at least 16oz). I like them at the 30% sweet level, still a tad sweet but also refreshing. I'd like the tea flavor to be a tad stronger but it is fine here. Gyoza ($7ish/3.5*) these are small lightly deep fried dumplings. Probably from frozen but as a quick cheap snack, most would be satisfied. I was. Spam Musubi ($10/4*) You get 3 fairly large musubis, which is a lot for me. I do 2 as a meal and do the other as a snack later in the day. The rice to spam ratio leans heavy on the rice part. But their rice is unique as there's some toasted rice specs that give the bites a toasty note. Kinda like the crisp rice on the bottom of a claypot dish. Not in texture but in aroma. Never had a musubi like this. There is a good layer of thick sweet teriyaki sauce which I can do without but does bring that sweet n salty principle into effect. This may become my anchor dish here as it's kinda hard to find a good musubi in this town. Pretty stylish space, loud music I think they are targeting that 16-22 age frame. You order through a kiosk which I don't mind but I find theirs to be very clunky with a lot of prompts and not easy progression. But I get my haircut in the same complex so before I hop back in my car, I can set myself up with a refreshment/treat. A useful and local hit-up.
