I may not understand coffee enough to give this place a rating worthy of its quality. I ordered their premium loose-leaf tea, which was solid, and sat down to work for an afternoon. It's a beautiful space that feels more like a lounge than a café, and the staff is really friendly. My fiancé ordered a latte that he really enjoyed. I also overheard a few other customers asking one of the staff about tasting notes for the coffee, and loved hearing her enthusiastic response (even though I didn't understand anything about it, LOL). This place actually makes me want to understand coffee better so I can better evaluate it, but for now just have my rating of the silly little tea that I ordered. Note that on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, they are only open to members (I didn't even know that coffee shops could have memberships), so if you want to stop by without a membership you'll have to come on Tuesday or Friday! I just happened to get lucky that I planned to come on a Friday.

Voca is my favorite coffee shop in the bay! To me, it's the only cafe where their quality, service, and attention to detail live up to their prices. I love coming here. The interior is gorgeous and everything in this cafe, down to the toilet paper (LOL) is PREMIUM. The coffee is always made well and presented beautifully. The ingredients they use are all very high quality, as in real honey, vanilla, lemon, blueberries, etc. Fresh flora are always on the table and on your coaster as decor. The women who work here are all fantastic people - very friendly, sweet, and courteous. A lot of people speak Chinese here and I think it makes the atmosphere very special. For drinks, I have tried the volcano, honey vanilla, sea salt caramel, and mocha. I think the volcano is the highest rated for a reason, as it's impossibly smooth and really good with some sugar/alternative sugar (they're available on the counter next to the water station). Just stir it beforehand, because I didn't and disliked the acidity at the top. I think the honey vanilla has the healthiest ingredients and the sea salt caramel has the best flavor. The mocha is a little gritty at the bottom and I'd personally prefer a stronger chocolate flavor. I personally like my honey vanilla latte with more honey, and Voca doesn't charge extra for that like other cafes! I've also had their blueberry muffin twice and their tiramisu once. The blueberry muffin is delicious, with a tasty lemon zest complimenting the sweetness of the muffin itself. There are a lot of blueberries inside and the muffin is so moist, especially when warmed. The tiramisu is not for me, but I think older people would prefer it much more. The cake is soaked in real espresso, so it's pretty strong and acidic. The cream is exquisite, but the tiramisu is barely sweet overall. Voca is still new and runs on a membership access system. If I wasn't going to college, I would absolutely join, as this cafe is great for getting work done or spending time with friends/family. Seating isn't very limited even on the days they are all-access. I highly recommend!

I think this place is one if not the most underrated spot for coffee in the Bay Area that serves solid coffee comparable to SoCal. They roast their own beans and have drinks that truly bring out the qualities of good beans without being overly burnt and acidic which many notable chains do If you're familiar with the likes of Kaizen in San Mateo then you'll likely want to check out this spot as well since they really have a nice decor, quality coffee to match but the main caveat is that their hours are quite limited with extra hours for members (who are given greater access to their coffee beans) I won't complain though because quality coffee while it shouldn't be gate kept is not necessarily, it seems like a fairly small family/friend run(?) shop where it's only two people who really were happy to explain the difference in tasting notes for the coffee beans I can say they really put in effort to hand craft each drink to their utmost perfection which adds more to your experience. They also really curate their drinks to heavily use the aspect of beans in mind including having a tiramisu bite essentially and volcano glasses to help offset the heat from the hand changing the temp of a latte I would highly recommend anybody check this unknown gem and ask questions if you have any. They provide sample jars to smell the flavors of the roasted beans and really seem to enjoy people who are interested in learning more. It seems like the members access is really for those who want quality beans source for more commercial purposes so find they balance an art of consumer and larger customers

Boutique coffee shop tucked away in Warm Springs This is a very elevated and intimate tea time/cafe spot. The workers (there are only two) take care to perfect each drink--this is not an experience to be rushed. The energy was kind and peaceful, I don't remember the cafe having any music. Fresh cut flowers are arranged beautifully throughout the shop. I felt like I was worlds away from little Fremont, whisked away to the whimsies of Le Marais in Paris. It was a splurge for an iced sea salt caramel latte, but this is the kind of cafe you'll want to spend an entire afternoon admiring anyways, perhaps with a book or a friend. It's a small space--this won't work for big groups. Keep it cute and take a walk along the pond near the back--lots of cute ducks to look at while you sip your drink. Very romantic!

This is a nice spot for coffee, but can be somewhat pricey. The coffee comes in beautiful mugs and decor (see that goblet my latte came in) but I think it was upwards of $7. The ladies at the counter are very friendly and very helpful. I am not sure why their hours are so random but are only open some days of the week.

Feels very cozy. Really enjoy the ambience of the cafe.

Located in the middle of what looks like old office buildings is Voca Coffee. A nice little cozy coffee shop. A very cool ambience. It is a smaller space but the service here makes me feel like a million bucks. The baristas know their coffee here, understands the coffee flavor profile. They care about each cup of coffee they craft and brew here. The yogurt blueberry muffin was also pretty good, I don't think I had anything like it but it was just the right amount of sweet and the texture was pleasant for being yogurt based. But this cafe is definitely worth checking out. Support your small businesses people. Come here for good coffee and the ambience!

Hidden in the office area, it's a small quaint space. The atmosphere is cute but you cannot just drop in for a quick to go coffee. The wait time for each item is very long. They have a very small menu. Out of the 3 tea items they did have, they only had 2 of them. It seems to take a very long time to make each drink item. Limited snacks too. They are only open twice a week very limited timing too. We got the volcano coffee and eye nourishing tea since they were out of the yunnan loose leaf tea. They were both ok. The plating for the tea didn't match anything, the tea cups had bunnies on them lol. From the pictures you can see the volcano coffee isn't consistent either. Not sure if we will come back soon. Maybe in a year!

For the coffee lovers out there make the time to visit the place. Small coffee shop in Fremont. Limited hours that are open to the public Tuesday and Friday. The other days you need to sign up for subscription. Beautiful and simple set up and it is nice place to hangout either to read or bring a friend to enjoy the ambience. Would probably come back to try more of the different coffees and there is coffee flight that you could try out. Service is wonderful and they are helpful and nice. Once they grind the coffee they actually have you smell the grounded beans. I highly recommend to try it out especially if you love coffee. The tiramisu is small and well made dessert. You could taste the different layers and the flavors were well made. Bathroom is clean has a nice fancy mirror that can change the lighting and automated soap dispenser. Highly recommended to try the place out.

This cute, cozy coffee shop is where you need to be for your slow morning routines - it's definitely not your typical "coffee run" where you can just quickly order your drink to-go but a place where you can really just sit down, relax and enjoy your coffee. Most of their items are made for you to order with the intention of customers staying to enjoy the quality/taste of it. From walking in to sitting down, it literally felt like a "safe space" to be and I feel that's what separates this chain from other coffee shops.

Found Voca Coffee during Fremont Restaurant Week and was not disappointed. They're certainly a small business - the most accurate representation of them I can provide is if two or three of my 阿姨s suddenly developed a proficiency in Japandi interior design and decided to open a coffee shop down the street. Hours are limited - open Tuesday and Friday from 9-1:30 and 9-4 respectively, and parking can be tough considering their location in a little business complex. Don't come here expecting anything to be done fast, and I mean that in a 95% positive manner. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxed, with customers lounging or chatting or doing work at the main table in the back, and the consistent but unhurried crafting of drinks behind the order counter. Our drinks were brought to us and actually explained, which was a treat in itself, and we talked a little bit with one of the owner/managers about the coffee classes they regularly host. However, my friend's drink came almost half an hour after mine did (which arrived within 10 minutes of ordering), which accounts for the other 5%. With such few staff, it definitely isn't unexpected to have drinks slip under the radar, but it did cause a some confusion especially seeing the drinks of people who had ordered way after us being delivered to the table. The volcano in its trademark glass was pulled very well and not sweet at all, which I actually preferred as I could enjoy the flavor of the coffee itself. My friend's affogato was fairly standard with vanilla bean ice cream, and another friend's kumquat crush was tangy and refreshing (albeit on the pricier side). I would not mind coming back with the hopes that some of the kinks have been worked out to relax or even for a course. See you next time!

If you're into clean, calming spaces with a design aesthetic that feels like a deep exhale, this place nails it. The Japandi vibe is impeccable! Minimalist but warm, with thoughtful details that make you want to linger. Every surface is spotless, every piece of furniture feels intentional, and the natural light makes your latte practically photogenic. The coffee here is not just "coffee"--they source really interesting beans with unique flavor profiles you don't see every day. If you care about aesthetics and substance, this is one of those rare places that delivers both flawlessly. A new favorite spot.

Decent coffee, but an absolute operational mess. Coffee was good and aesthetically pleasing. Due to operational problems, we only got to try the latte, which was good. Not necessarily worth the headache we went through to get it, but if these problems are ironed out, I'd wouldn't be opposed to paying $6.50 for another latte. Also, I appreciate Wen's dedication to her business. I see her responding to every review. Hopefully some of these points can help Voca improve. I think it has a lot of potential! 1) Cashier lady was lacking in competency. She was slow, didn't know the menu, didn't communicate well, and just generally meandered around getting in people's way. There were dishes to bus, tables to wipe, coffee to serve, and a line out the door. Yet she didn't seem concerned and took her sweet time typing slowly on the iPad. My advice: train her better or hire someone else. 2) Better communication. Several times, I noticed orders being prepared incorrectly. They would make an americano, just for the customer to say they ordered an iced americano or they would make a latte to realize the customer ordered an oat latte. Then, more often than not, after a drink is made, they would walk around looking for the customer, further slowing things down. These are all solveable problems. 3) Simplify the menu. Too many items on the menu just exacerbates communication problems and slows things down as people ponder what to get. Especially for restaurant week, I'd simplify the menu from 8 offerings to 4 and skip the time-intensives drinks like pour overs. 4) Keep dirty dishes away from unserved drinks and food. I couldn't help but notice dirty dishes piling up next to unserved tiramisu and drinks (photos included). This is a health violation and risks cross-contamination. Please take care to never do this again. 5) Nit: The latte cups, while unique, are right-hand biased. For left-handed customers, they are very awkward to use. This isn't a big deal, but first impressions matter and attention to details matter. I assume these are growing pains that will improve with time, so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt and giving 4 stars, for what would otherwise be a 2-star experience.

I get that teacher shortages are happening everywhere, and we are just getting through a global pandemic, but at the same time it's not like the previous Instructor Chef Rosen, decided to retire last minute. They knew well in advance, and you would think they would have been able to get an instructor before the school year started. If for some reason, they weren't able to find an instructor, which seems to be the case now, why even offer the course this year at all until an instructor is found? I've heard that students are trying switch out of the class and into other classes because they don't have an instructor, and are still being taught by substitutes. It's such a shame many of these students who are seniors, many of which who are coming out of distance learning, signed up for Culinary Arts, yet are being taught by substitutes. They probably aren't even being taught much or learning much about Culinary Arts. I hope Mission Valley ROP is doing everything they can to get a qualified instructor to teach Culinary Arts at American, as there are 4 Culinary Arts classes and 1 Event Planning course offered at American. If anything, perhaps they should ask Chef Rosen to come back until a permanent instructor can be found? I had a piece of pvc pipe for my rolling pin. 2 students asked to pay and leave an hour early out of frustration; I made myself continue on but left feeling even worse. I asked in class and then again in email later if I could PURCHASE samples of her work of the flowers she had taught, she replied she sold them to another student. April claims she is some top of the line, one of the best flower designers and that her customers are all the Food Network stars. That they want her flowers... but yet she refused to make or sell to me. I simply wanted to PAY for 1 each of the flowers she attempted to teach us. I feel so very cheated... $60.00 for 3.5 hours, no book or hand out, nothing other than the few flowers you attempted in class that definitely were not assembled. The take home recipe given for pastillage did not work at all when I tried it at home. When I emailed for help...April's answers were not helpful and avoided my question. Her recipe is just water, gelatin and confectioners sugar. Her suggestion was that I added too much shortening!!! Shortening isn't even in HER recipe. When I pointed that out she said she was just suggesting a problem and couldn't know what I did wrong... what the hell... 3 basic ingredients... how wrong could I have gone...seriously!! She demonstrated how to make pastillage in class and let us touch it and then she gave us a different batch all together to work with. Something she prepared before we got there. April knew before I took the class that I am also a cake decorator and instructor, and THIS is how she treats her colleagues! Her business is a lousy cold garage that is crammed with crap, boxes, and product and is definitely not worth what she charges. If you need to go to the bathroom, you have to walk through her messy house and dirty kitchen. Not what I expect from someone claiming to be a professional. She ran in between the house and the garage and made it well known that she was watching a tennis match inside on TV. She also offers Wilton courses on her website, however Wilton claims she is in violation of the teaching agreement and is not an authorized instructor. Go to Michaels or JoAnns and save the frustration, time, and unprofessional-ism! I really feel that April is a cheat and probably discourages first time decorators. I would not recommend her class to anyone!!

She showed the class tons of new techniques, like icing cakes, and how to make royal icing, how to pipe etc. We made tons of cookies. I remember these jam shortbread like bars, and these pinwheel cookies. We also made biscotti, and a banana cream pie. Everything tasted really good! And we were able to take home usually more than 1 treat each day. For the last two days of the class, we made a red velvet cake from start to finish. We made the batter, lined the baking pan, and then made the icing, sliced the cake, iced the cake, decorated it, etc. I learned tons of new techniques. The chocolate class was very fun as well, and very informative. We made many different kinds of truffles, and we made chocolate mousse, and chocolate cups, and a few kinds of edible molding chocolate decoration! This place is awesome! Not only can you take cooking classes, you can order cakes and cookies for parties. The cakes here are really good! I really like her carrot cake, and her red velvet cake! YUM! The cookies here are really good too! For my brother's birthday, we planned it last minute, and called her about a day ahead, yet she was able to put together a cake for him, so that was a huge plus! But if you're able to tell her a week or more in advance, all the better, because you can get it more to your preference, and you'll probably like your cake a lot more. What a fantastic tour by Mashav (the owner and the chef of Le Couloir)! Richmond neighborhood in SF…read moreis known for its mix of cultures, but Mashav masterfully uncovers all the hidden secrets and gems - Secrets only someone who lives in this community is familiar with. And she does that through food and hand-picked dishes that you will never uncover without a guide. Even though locations may change per tour, our group tasted a mix of cultures and got some stories behind the dishes, the restaurants, and their owners. Few examples - * Russian cuisine - Herring with a pickled onion on fresh bread * Indian street food - I was surprised how much I enjoyed this vegan street snack - I would have never ordered anything without meat, and I dislike spinach, but the fried spinach snack was mind-blowingly good. * Mexican - Quesadilla with plantain. Again, no meat but it was soooooo good. * Chinese - Glazed Pork and pork-filled bun I won't spoil the surprise for some of the other locations. And more, and more - Total of about 7-8 places. You won't stay hungry, guaranteed. The walk itself is not challenging; there are no hills to overcome, even though it's San Francisco. Don't wait - Just go!

The exterior is simple, while on the interior, they are an actual tea shop that also sells boba tea. The service was a miss - the employees did not seem that friendly or welcoming upon walking in and during the ordering process. I was sent to the other counter to pay and trying to pay was a hassle because that employee was more focused on having a full on conversation with someone else than to ring me up. My drink was already done and waiting for me at the previous counter and I was still not helped, until I had to say something. I ordered their Green Milk Tea with boba and grass jelly - about $7 for a large, which is not that expensive compared to most other competitors for that size. The milk tea tasted so watered down and overly sweeten though, so I was not able to finish drinking it. I went a few stores down for another boba drink.
