I'm really impressed by the amount of vegan friendly options there are in Oakland! I wish LA had a Timeless down there. This coffee shop exclusively uses vegan milks (think oat, almond, and soy I believe) in their beverages. I got the vanilla cardamom iced latte. While I didn't taste any cardamom in my drink, it was still tasty as a vanilla latte. The baked goods looked rather tempting. They even have one with a tater tot garnish! I can tell this is a popular local spot because there were quite a bit of people hanging out on a Friday morning. Bonus points for their steampunk-esque logo and font.

I am not a big fan. This place is vegan/vegetarian but they do not advertise as such. Their pastries don't say vegan. They don't ask what choice of milk you'd like. I asked the cashier if the macchiato is sweetened and they said no. I get my coffee and it's a traditional macchiato in a tiny espresso cup. Whatever no big deal but the espresso was super bitter. I feel like the cashier should have told me it wasn't the Starbucks macchiato I'm used to. We also got the "raspberry cheesecake" I thought it wasn't that bad except I did not care for the raspberry sauce. If you are vegan/vegetarian eater you might love this place but it was not for me.

The drinks that we got had some particles floating around but were still yum. Got one Iced Drip and an Iced Vanilla Latte. It wasn't as smooth as other places. Service was just standard. Kind of on the slower side. Honestly didn't hit enough to make the drive. Will think about it if we are in the area. Maybe try the pastries next time. Inside was ok. Parking is on the street and is packed.

    Super sexy wall decor.

Their confetti or birthday cake is the love of my life. Something about it, can't explain it. I'm a diehard chocolate person but their cake. That beautiful cake. Service was cool. I like the place, it seems real cozy.

Such a cute local vegan coffee spot! Everything on the menu is fully vegan, which is amazing, and the service is super fast. The lattes were smooth and high-quality--great espresso. We tried the pesto pizza roll (delicious) and a few cakes and pastries, which were all equally tasty. There's nice outdoor seating and a chill vibe--lots of people hanging out with their dogs. Just a cozy, friendly spot we'll definitely keep coming back to.

A true coffee shop or house is a place to go when you need to take a break from your to do list and just reflect and soak in the essence of humanity, regardless of what year it is, a timeless experience. Walking to my neighborhood one, it's fitting then that it's named Timeless Coffee. The staff are engaging. The music selection is as diverse as the neighborhood. The patrons express true metropolitan. And most importantly, the espresso never disappoints.

Timeless did our wedding cake - and it turned out amazing! Everybody was raving over it, we didn't have a single piece uneaten, and people were shocked it was dairy free. The timeless bakery team is amazing and we would recommend them to anyone thinking about wedding cakes!

When in the Bay Area, I come here, spend far too much money and eat the most delicious items while downing 2+ cups of coffee. If I were local I would certainly have (more of a) weight problem and most likely hypertension from all the coffee. But since I don't, I live. Come on down to vegan heaven

Great staff! Great service! Great coffee!! Truth be told I didn't have their coffee i had their golden milk latte minus the Java! I appreciate that the barista gave me the option because I already had coffee earlier that morning. My friends and I stopped in because they are a Vegan cafe with yummy gluten free treats that she enjoys. I'm no vegan but if your not against it then don't knock it til you try it. I loved the atmosphere bubbling with spunk! Delicious food and good laughs we will be back again soon! Another win for timeless!

House blend espresso & single origin espresso
    Felix W.

I got two espresso shots, one house blend and one single origin. Both had a slightly grainy texture but were still good. The single origin was slightly more acidic (4/5) and the blend had a slightly bitter aftertaste (3.5/5).

Coconut chocolate donut and mocha drink

Food- this is a vegan or vegetarian cafe... wait to scroll away. I am not a vegan but I stumbled on this place as my dentist is located nearby and of course after a dental appointment you go to the cafe for a chocolate donut or scones, cookies, etc. So I was happy with my chocolate coconut donut then I said hey I need more sugar and chocolate in my life So I ordered their mocha. Not just any mocha , they make their own syrup/ ganache w/ Cho chocolate !! Say what??? No Hershey s or nasty Torani... count me and my calories in! Service was great, nice gal who rung me up Ambiance - nice, it can get busy during peak times They offer savory options to eat too Yum!!!

We have been coming here for years. We have an obsession with the pesto rolls. I recently ordered from this vegan coffee shop online, placing a large order of 15 items totaling $92.75, as we don't live nearby and like to stock up. I opted for refunds on any out-of-stock items with the exception of one item and included a 20% tip. However, instead of refunding unavailable items as requested, the shop substituted them with items I didn't want--without notifying me. They use toast pos systems. Toast allows you to put a count on an item, and to 86 an item so that people can't order things that are out of stock. Apparently they just choose to not use that amazing option so that guests can still order things that are out of stock. The receipt on the bag noted that items were out of stock, and upon checking, I found unwanted replacements. But no one used their voice to tell me and I had I not looked at the receipt on the bag I never would have realized. I had to request a refund, even though I requested it when placing the order I then had to do an additional verbal request, which adjusted the bill to $55.25. A 20% tip on this should be $11, not the $18 charged on the original total. Despite reaching out two different times to the owners, I received no response or refund for the overcharged tip. This is unacceptable--charging a tip for items not received and on an incorrect total feels like fraud. This experience has soured me on tipping for to-go orders for all restaurants. I will never do it again and it's a shame a place like this ruins that for everyone else. Shame on you. A simple task of fulfilling an order correctly shouldn't result in such poor service and communication. I won't be returning.

Carrot loaf, almond croissant, peppermint patty
    Holly S.

Love the concept of a fully vegan bakery. But this place didn't deliver (IMO) on the goods. The carrot loaf was overly dry, so much that I couldn't eat it. And it really lacked any flavor. The peppermint patty was hard as a rock, I attempted to cut it in half to get a good visual of the filling however, it snapped in half and jumped off my plate . The filling had a great prominent mint taste, but was much, much too sweet... it was like eating a spoonful of crystallized sugar... quite possible it'd be better if it's room temp. The almond croissant was good, not much almond filling, but fair overall. Service was standard. Gets busy, and loud, but if you can stag a table, the space is nice to read/work.

There are glass cases full of breads, cakes, eclairs, tarts and other delicious looking baked goods. On the top of the cases are jars with a variety of cookies to choose from, as well as, one of my favorites, their lemon shortbread bar. The lemon shortbread bar is amazing. They stack the wedges in a large lidded glass jar, each wedge separated with a sheet of white parchment paper. I believe this is one of the hidden gems at La Farine. The shortbread crust Is tender and buttery and hold holds it shape well when you bite into it. The lemon curd is creamy with the right amount of tang, and there is a thin sweet layer of crunch on top of curd that puts this bar over the top. The balance of textures and flavors is perfect. I also highly recommend the chocolate eclairs. Each one is filled with a generous amount of piped whipped cream, a pate choux with good flavor and texture, and topped with a rich, silky layer of chocolate ganache. Overall their prices are reasonable -lemon shortbread bar $3, and chocolate eclair 3.50. I decided to give La Farine four stars because on a previous visit I had a slice of the Moka cake, and was not impressed. It is an attractive and delicious looking cake with lovely pale moka colored frosting surrounding layers of dark chocolate cake, however, the frosting lacked the coffee and chocolate flavor combo that I was looking forward to, and sadly the frosting was more waxy than creamy. That being said, I will definitely be back to search for the next delicious gems at this very lovely bakery on Piedmont Ave.

Jamie W and I decided to pay a visit after our gym workout because we figured we could reward ourselves for breaking a sweat. Arriving in the last hour before closing, we were happily anticipatory that their display case was still well stocked. It was no surprise how gorgeous it was. We had seen the Instagram photos of the visually striking, trompe l'oeil "fruit" pastries (Photo 6). They were indeed mini-works of art with thin, white-chocolate shells that easily crack open to reveal appropriately sweet fillings. We limited ourselves to four items because we didn't want to get carried away...literally. Besides, they weren't cheap. Our priciest item was the $14.50 Peanut shaped like a giant peanut shell and filled with a light peanut butter mousse. There was also a strawberry gelee and a crisp peanut butter wafer that helped reflect the intended PBJ concept. It was just a bit sweet for me. The second item, the $12 Coconut, was my favorite. It was designed to look like a perfectly cracked open coconut with the outer hull made of textured milk chocolate and the "meat" made of white chocolate (Photo 7). The macapuno entremet core reflected co-owner Monique Feybasse's Filipino background. It consisted of coconut whipped cream mousse freckled with macapuno and coconut shavings, and a chocolate coconut sponge cake. The entirety was a true tropical experience. The $8.50 Pistachio Eclair was the most straightforward of the quartet with a golden pate-a-choux shell, pistachio pastry cream with a matcha-like powder, and chopped pistachios (Photo 10). The basic approach taken was enhanced by the quality of the execution. The $4.50 Madeleine was a comparative bargain and quite a treat, providing a soft-crumbed sponge cake covered in a pistachio coating shaped like a seashell (Photo 9). Monique and her husband Paul clearly know what they're doing, having extensive experience in Michelin-starred restaurants like the acclaimed Geranium in Copenhagen. On Sunday afternoon, there was a constant stream of customers, many of them regulars who knew exactly what to order. FOOD - 4 stars...craftsmanship and execution are aces, some satisfy more than others, also a bit pricey AMBIANCE - 3.5 stars...crowded so hard to tell beyond the striking displays SERVICE - 4 stars...nice though necessarily transactional TOTAL - 4 stars...definitely an eyeful even more than a mouthful RELATED - Exploring Oakland?
