Tierra Mia Coffee is a wonderful cafe with delicious drinks and pastries that bring the community together. As I came on a Saturday afternoon, it was pretty busy and bustling. The baristas and workers have a great system in place to keep moving orders along. There is plenty of seating inside, but it does get pretty cramped with the large crowd rush. I decided to try the mazapan peanut frappe as I love mazapan and was intrigued by how it would taste in a drink. I was pleasantly surprised by how creamy and sweet it was! The peanut gives a slight salty and nutty flavor profile to the drink. I really enjoyed it! Overall, I would love to come back and try more of their drinks! read more

I was early for a meeting, so decided to pop in for a coffee. Established in 2008, this is the only NorCal location of this SoCal based coffee chain, which features Latin inspired drinks. Even though the ceiling looked run down, the chandeliers, plants, wooden furniture, and Latin music made the space cozy. There was construction going on right outside, but the noise wasn't too noticeable. I saw a stack of boxes behind the register from Starter Bakery, so they probably source most (if not all) their pastries from there. There was a short line but it moved quickly and it didn't take long for me to receive my latte. Throughout the time I was there, there was a steady line of customers so it seemed like a local favorite. I ordered a small Horchata Latte with whole milk ($5.25). I asked the cashier, and he said it was on the sweeter side. He suggested 50% sweetness, which I went with. +Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongue +Not too sweet: Creamy and nutty w/cinnamon -Espresso could be stronger. -All drinks served in paper to-go cups with paper sleeves: Ceramic mugs would be a great option for people who want to stay. -No latte art Side notes: 1.) I recently started working down the street and am trying to find a solid coffee spot. I stopped in on a Thursday morning and was pleased to see it was poppin'. It's not quiet, so I wouldn't recommend coming here for focus work, but there's lots of seating and a few communal tables that were being used. They have a large drink menu and I got the horchata latte and two pastries. I think I would have loved the pastries warmed up, so that's my fault for saying no, but they were flavorful room temp. My go-to is usually and iced vanilla coffee which is super smooth and tasty or a matcha latte! Ther service is super quick. You can mobile order for an on-the-go experience, but it does definitely get busy around lunch time! However I've never had any complaints with coming here. The ambiance is great! Been coming here for years and they've always provided top of the line products and service that makes you want to come back for more. The Horchata Frappe tends to be their staple and the main reason my friends and I have continued to return here for nearly a decade. They also serve other coffee options and also pastries that are fresh and delivered to them daily. Environment wise this is a great location to meet others, do desk work, study, or just relax, on any given day. Parking can be an issue depending on the day and time, but regardless, it's always been worth dealing with the hassle. Wow! Tierra Mia has always been in my bookmarks and I had a chance to stop by on a weekday morning. Very conveniently placed in downtown and near BART, it's easily accessible. Additionally there are a few parking spots in front that you can park in. Ambience was spacious, seems like people come here to work or chat, it was clean and a bit busy in the morning. Service was fine, they got my drink right which is a win! lol, but the real star of the show was their Horchata latte, omg!!! This is easily the best latte I've had in a long time. I did have to add an extra shot and oat milk, but those adjustments made this one of the best drinks I've had. As a coffee enthusiast, I don't love milky coffees which is why I added a shot, this made the drink perfectly balanced with the right touch of sweetness. Just tried Tierra Mia for the first time and it was very very good. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The service was fast and they made my order right after I ordered it. I tried a Vanilla Latte here and Omg it was so delicious. The building it was in looks kinda old school and it was kinda quiet when I went in and there was quite a few seats available to sit in. This place is right across the street from the 19th Street BART station entrance and I highly recommend trying this place out. It's rare for me to go to a new coffee shop and be wowed by the drinks, but Tierra Mia coffee is really dang good. The coffee is super flavorful and full-bodied, not watery at all like other places. I got the caramel frappe because I was craving something sweet and it was really delicious. Full of deep coffee flavor but also creamy and sweet, but not tooth achingly so. I would say the downsides are that the inside can get pretty busy and dirty at times and the service can be slow on weekends. Totally understandable because this place can get super busy. If you come on a weekend, just be prepared for a 20ish minute wait after your order. read more

My experience here was very unpleasant. On Wednesday, September 17th at 10:50am I ordered a iced matcha horchata latte. There was no line, but when I received my drink, it was strawberry. I politely asked the barista if it had strawberry in it (I almost stayed quiet since I'm introverted), and after mentioning that I had actually ordered horchata, the cashier came over with a very hostile attitude to insist that I had said strawberry. That made me second-guess myself for a moment, but I know exactly what I ordered -- I even came because of specific reviews recommending that flavor. Instead of simply remaking the drink or even refusing to change it, the cashier chose to gaslight me with a rude attitude and unfriendly demeanor. It made me feel so uncomfortable that I had to leave the shop immediately. A simple "we can fix it" or even "sorry, we can't change it" would have been enough. But the way I was treated was unnecessarily hostile and disrespectful. I will definitely not be coming back. read more

My first review in a long while. I've been here a couple dozen times over the past six years. More often lately since I moved nearby and like to come here sometimes after walking the lake. Here is a breakdown of the four drinks I remember getting: 1) horchata frappucino - my favorite and go-to most times, though it probably has a lot of calories. Around $5.75 for a small (that may be with tip), it's flavor & texture perfection. With or without whipped cream, it's delicious. I once asked the cashier what their most popular and ordered drink is, and they said this one. 2) iced great tea - a personal favorite anywhere I go. I get it unsweetened & it has one of the best flavors of any I've gotten anywhere. 3) lemonade - usually a fan of it, but it was way too sweet when I tried it here, but that's probably how most prefer it 4) small plain black coffee - too sweet and perfumy for me, but I'm not supposed to really have coffee anyway. Wouldn't get it again. Personally, I'd stick to #1 and #2 above (jmo) and any variation of the horchata... latte, creme, all good Music is always nice, mellow, and not TOO loud, though personally I'd put it down a little, but that may be me or my age or sound sensitivity. Sometimes, it's a slightly club feel. Pastries are always good and fresh..I've only tried a few times. Cream cheese apricot Danish is excellent and the spinach croissant, too. I heard they bake them here. Seating is pleasant, and they set up the tables nicely. The place looks small and is usually pretty busy, but there is usually plenty of seating. They give some space, so you're not on top of the next table. They do close pretty early during the week..5pm.. but a lot of weekday business is prob from local workers and businesses, so that makes sense. More than a few coworkers rave about and frequent this place. The artwork is also very nice. Giant-sized photos of the coffee, coffee growers, and pickers..their roots - a nice touch. This is a chain without a chain feel. I've been sitting here a good 20-30 minutes, and nobody eyeballs or pressures you to get out (unless it's close to 5 pm on a weekday). The clients on the weekend are a mix of seems to be visitors (BART is nearby), locals, and students + workers on their laptops. Idk if they have wifi, but I never brought work here. I'd recommend a stop here if passing through. It's nice, friendly, and clean. read more

The other I was with love coffee, and both said that it was very good. This is my 3rd time here and it's been very good every time, service is good nothing special about it but no one is rude by any means. I came in on Saturday wearing pijamas, I show up to this place once every few weeks, im addicted to caffeine and this place isn't too far. This place is one of the best Latino places for coffee!
