I've been coming to Tierra Mia since around 2016, and I'll never forget the first time I walked through those doors. I immediately fell in love with the beautiful Latin-inspired decor, the photographs of coffee field workers, and the celebration of Latin culture throughout the space. As a Latina myself, seeing those beautiful faces and cultural roots represented honestly gave me goosebumps. There's something so special about walking into a coffee shop that feels like a little piece of your culture. And the building itself?! GORGEOUS. The high ceilings, chandeliers, and overall atmosphere make this location such a gem. Their iced Horchata Latte is UNMATCHED. Seriously, nobody does it quite like Tierra Mia. Their chai is delicious, the Mocha Mexicano is another favorite, and when I'm feeling a little extra, the Horchata Frappé always hits the spot! My ONLY little wish? The pastries. I know they source them from Starter Bakery, which is fine although I'm not a fan of, but I'd LOVE to see them partner with somewhere like Firebrand or Fournée (check out my Fournée review, LOL) or even bake in-house someday. Just a personal preference! But honestly, that's such a small thing compared to how much I love this place. I fell! Literally. I was running for the bus, tripped on a crack in the sidewalk, and fell face first. I decided to soldier on to my destination in spite of that, and stopped by Tierra Mia coffee for some water, ice, and napkins. They were actually out of bottled water. The young lady helping me was doing her best to make sure I had some comfort in spite of my stubbornness. (Because real talk: I should have just turned around and gone home.) I made sure to get her name, and wrote a compliment to management. Sadly, I don't think they check that inbox. That message is unanswered weeks later. Beyond me tripping and falling, the rest refers to other times I've been there. The location is great. It's at Broadway and 19th next to the BART station. Their drinks are good. The building is older, and the table layout is good for the space. Not a lot of plugs. The WiFi could be better, but those are tells that they don't really want customers camping out for too long. Makes sense. They're literally next to a transit hub, and there is another cafe steps away where you can grab food and beverage and camp out. read more

This is my second time at Tierra Mia Coffee and it does not disappoint at all! I'm so happy to be able to support a local business and indulge in unique, delicious coffee combinations. This timed, I tried the pumpkin spice latte (iced). I came in on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't busy and my drink was made within a few minutes. I just want to give a shoutout to the staff because they're always so friendly and lively. It really makes for a warm and inviting atmosphere. The drink was delicious! What I liked about this pumpkin spice latte is that I can taste the spices in the drink such as the cinnamon that really warms your taste buds. These drinks in general are also not incredibly sweet so you can identify the flavors and it isn't one-note at all. It's the perfect drink for fall and I'm so glad I was able to try it! Was really looking forward to finally checking this place out. They have a bunch of things to try on the menu. There was a lot of people in there 1/2 an hour before closing too so I'm sure the place is good. I tried something new cause I usually love this drink: banana matcha, (Even though i originally came to try something else) but I was disappointed. Matcha flavor was really light and so was the banana flavor. It was more of a light matcha milk, if you will. I will come back to try what I originally wanted to drink (horchata matcha latte, I believe it was) cause I really think they have good drinks. I've heard great things from friends so maybe I just got a bad drink, off day, or because it was a new drink on the menu, it just hasn't been perfected yet? Not sure but just wasn't what I usually expect from a matcha drink. Other than that, service was great. The cashier was really nice. I was able to find street parking really easily as well. I was walking down Broadway on my way home this morning when I passed this place and decided to pop in for a matcha. I'm glad I did! I ordered a small blueberry iced matcha, and it was really good. The matcha itself had a rich flavor, and the blueberry came through nicely without making the drink overly sweet. It was a really refreshing combination. Even while I was there, there seemed to be a steady stream of people coming in and out, which is always a good sign. I wish I had picked up one of the pastries to try, but I'll definitely have to save that for my next visit. read more

I told him my usual at starbs to give him an idea of my taste buds and then asked him to recommend an iced coffee to me. He names a few and I went with the last option! He was so patient with me and very helpful I got the mocha Mexicano with Oatmilk. It is SO good, has a little bit of very tiny pieces of chocolate. Stumbled upon this place on my way to los Angeles surprisingly nothing was open in oakland at 6 am Super cute ambiance love the culture history it provides. The food was basically small bakery items. Would've loved to see a little more food options, especially since they are open early. I would assume they draw more traffic. Service was great until it wasn't. I asked for whipped cream on my coffee which I assumed came with a Mexican mocha. You would've thought I was asking for other girls first born however, I did get some whipped cream put on a lid and then placed back on my coffee.The girl had an ugly look on her face however the girl that rang me up in the red blouse and the guy with a lime green and white blouse made my drink I believe were super nice. read more

Stopped by at around 8am for a quick coffee and there was not many people. The service was quick and friendly. I tried the horchata latte and it was delicious, not too sweet, just the perfect blend. I was early for a meeting, so decided to pop in for a coffee. Established in 2008, this is the only NorCal location of this SoCal based coffee chain, which features Latin inspired drinks. Even though the ceiling looked run down, the chandeliers, plants, wooden furniture, and Latin music made the space cozy. There was construction going on right outside, but the noise wasn't too noticeable. I saw a stack of boxes behind the register from Starter Bakery, so they probably source most (if not all) their pastries from there. There was a short line but it moved quickly and it didn't take long for me to receive my latte. Throughout the time I was there, there was a steady line of customers so it seemed like a local favorite. I ordered a small Horchata Latte with whole milk ($5.25). I asked the cashier, and he said it was on the sweeter side. He suggested 50% sweetness, which I went with. +Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongue +Not too sweet: Creamy and nutty w/cinnamon -Espresso could be stronger. -All drinks served in paper to-go cups with paper sleeves: Ceramic mugs would be a great option for people who want to stay. -No latte art Side notes: 1.) Restrooms available for customers. 2.) Outlets available 3.) Self-serve napkins and condiments 4.) Across the street from Uptown Transit Center Verdict: 4.5 stars rounded up to 5 d/t service. The cashier with a man bun was really friendly. Since the menu is just a placard next the cashier, you can't see it unless if you're there. He didn't rush anyone and told them to take their time. I recently started working down the street and am trying to find a solid coffee spot. I stopped in on a Thursday morning and was pleased to see it was poppin'. It's not quiet, so I wouldn't recommend coming here for focus work, but there's lots of seating and a few communal tables that were being used. They have a large drink menu and I got the horchata latte and two pastries. I think I would have loved the pastries warmed up, so that's my fault for saying no, but they were flavorful room temp. I don't have a picture but I loveeeed this place. Like parking is pretty difficult given it's on the street and in a pretty bustling area. But the coffee itself is amazing! Super creamy and yummy yet still strong. Inside the cafe itself it's pretty calm you could definitely do some work there given the number of tables. I had the frozen Mazapan drink and it was wonderful!!!!! I have had a few in other places and Tierra Mia's is the best so far.

I got an espresso. I wouldn't go back for espresso. It had crema but the flavor was burnt and bitter, 2/5. If you're looking for espresso alone, try the place down the street kinfolx. read more

Tierra Mia is one of the best places to get your coffee fix! Everything here is so good including the pastries! My go-to is usually and iced vanilla coffee which is super smooth and tasty or a matcha latte! Ther service is super quick. You can mobile order for an on-the-go experience, but it does definitely get busy around lunch time! However I've never had any complaints with coming here. The ambiance is great! The interior is really chic and clean, with a good amount of space to sit- to work, have a chat, etc! Honestly love it here! read more

Been coming here for years and they've always provided top of the line products and service that makes you want to come back for more. The Horchata Frappe tends to be their staple and the main reason my friends and I have continued to return here for nearly a decade. They also serve other coffee options and also pastries that are fresh and delivered to them daily. Environment wise this is a great location to meet others, do desk work, study, or just relax, on any given day. Parking can be an issue depending on the day and time, but regardless, it's always been worth dealing with the hassle. I will continue to come here, and I have no intention of ever stopping. 5/5. read more

Wow! Tierra Mia has always been in my bookmarks and I had a chance to stop by on a weekday morning. Very conveniently placed in downtown and near BART, it's easily accessible. Additionally there are a few parking spots in front that you can park in. Ambience was spacious, seems like people come here to work or chat, it was clean and a bit busy in the morning. Service was fine, they got my drink right which is a win! lol, but the real star of the show was their Horchata latte, omg!!! This is easily the best latte I've had in a long time. I did have to add an extra shot and oat milk, but those adjustments made this one of the best drinks I've had. As a coffee enthusiast, I don't love milky coffees which is why I added a shot, this made the drink perfectly balanced with the right touch of sweetness. It's rare for me to go to a new coffee shop and be wowed by the drinks, but Tierra Mia coffee is really dang good. The coffee is super flavorful and full-bodied, not watery at all like other places. I got the caramel frappe because I was craving something sweet and it was really delicious. Full of deep coffee flavor but also creamy and sweet, but not tooth achingly so. I would say the downsides are that the inside can get pretty busy and dirty at times and the service can be slow on weekends. Totally understandable because this place can get super busy. If you come on a weekend, just be prepared for a 20ish minute wait after your order. read more

Just tried Tierra Mia for the first time and it was very very good. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The service was fast and they made my order right after I ordered it. I tried a Vanilla Latte here and Omg it was so delicious. The building it was in looks kinda old school and it was kinda quiet when I went in and there was quite a few seats available to sit in. This place is right across the street from the 19th Street BART station entrance and I highly recommend trying this place out.
