Love this coffee shop... always called it the Octopus coffee shop... this does not lead to finding it quickly in Yelp! Great food, lots of variety and great plates... save room for dessert! That is also so wonderful, life is good / better with apple strudel mmmmm. Relaxed music, friendly servers / baristas. I wonder if I could stay til closing--- 5pm this Tuesday.
On a weekday morning, the line to order was VERY short. You order, you get a number and someone will bring the food and drinks to you. Unlike the Saturday morning I came before where the line went out the door and around the corner. Tried to wait but couldn't due to hunger and an upcoming event. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor eating tables and chairs. There is even a nice cozy fireplace. The selection of breakfast items was varied and extensive. BALI BOWL - delicious, well seasoned quinoa with mushrooms, tomatoes, avocado and eggs. BEACH BREAKFAST - solid fluffy and delicious pancakes, delicious sausage, fluffy eggs, real maple syrup. WAFFLES AND BERRIES - crispy, airy waffles with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. GIBRALTAR - not tart. delicious. creamy. TSOCOLATE - one of the best hot chocolates I've had in a very long time. I LATTE - delicious and not "milky" (watered down). There is a large and free parking lot for the center in which this cafe is in. They are on the beach. Coffee bean roasting was in progress while we were here. Cashier and servers were awesome.
We came back to try the food - oh so good! I got the asparagus, corn & sundried tomatoes quiche - delicious! Creamy and fluffy - perfectly cooked - would definitely order it again. Excellent service - always love the vibe / ambiance and coastal views! I ordered my plum tea again - yum! Next time I want to try the iced matcha latte. Hubby ordered a mocha (with TCHO chocolate) he loved it and his quiche Lorraine!
Yum! Soul grind is such a great place to hang out for lunch, work from, or grab a quick bite. Service was quick, nice, and friendly. Loved how many options there were! I got a cubano and the dirty bird bowl. I love a good cafe with healthy options and this was a great find. I like that it's right by the water too, makes for a perfect place to sit and enjoy the view. Can't wait to be back!
We came on Labor Day weekend. There was a line but it moved quickly. We decided to grab a bite along with coffee. It was hard deciding between breakfast and lunch. We ended up settling for a lox bagel and chipotle chicken bowl. It was my first time trying a lox bagel and I was impressed! I was full with 1.5. I also got the cold brew with strawberry cold foam. Let me tell you... it was STRONG! I absolutely loved it. It's hard finding good cold brew. I am convincing my husband to bring me back here again soon.
Amazing breakfast/brunch food and coffee located in picturesque Pacifica. My friend and I went for brunch and I was impressed. I got the Beach Breakfast with a side of bacon while my friend got the avocado and bacon toast. The portion sizes were great! The pancakes were soooo fluffy and warm, delicious! The scrambled eggs had a good texture and the sausage was fantastic- they had a sweet marinade and smokey finish which complimented everything else. The bacon was the perfect chewy:crisp ratio. The avocado and bacon toast was massive and my friends really enjoyed it. The service was quick, especially given how big it is. We sat outside, which included an expansive amount of seating. It was nice walking alongside the beach after- amazing vibes!
This is such a cute place to have brunch, study, or just to enjoy the nature. It is right next to the beach! The food here is so yummy and I really like the food displays they have here. It can get a little busy here, so try to come early!
Owner is very cool! A nice guy, so far all the staff has been great also. Excellent coffee and a very interesting setup with a killer location right on the beach. Once I get moved into my house I plan to come and dine outside, so far only taking food to go.
This review is for to go coffee and pastries. Be prepared to wait in line for awhile. Yes it's popular and there are lot of people working making coffee drinks and in the kitchen and serving food. Everything stops at the one cashier in a line that goes out the door and around the corner. We went on. Sunday and wanted coffee drinks and pasties to go. It's the same line that you would order if you are dining in. The cashier does everything from taking the order to getting pastries out of the case. Surely she can use a teammate. The drinks were on point. Ordered a charcoal latte and dirty chai. The almond lemons cake piece was tiny for $7.95. Banana choco walnut for $4.75 was better. Be prepared to pay 75 cents more for almond milk or oat milk substitute. Not worth a long wait just for coffee and pasties. Maybe next time will try some of their breakfast items as a sit down.
Soul grind has to be one of my FAVORITE coffee shops in the Bay Area. The location is amazing and the vibes are unmatched!! Literally steps from Linda Mar. As for the coffee, all of their specialties are great and I've never had a bad cup. Im currently in the South Bay but I make it a monthly trip up to Soul Grind to buy a couple lbs to brew at home.
What a charming coffee shop and it can continues to be an awesome place. We went there on Fourth of July and the line never stopped, but there were still places to eat. People were keeping the tables clean. The vibe was great. The food is so good. We had the well-known drink. The cliffside was delicious and I got the vanilla cold foam on a latte and it was so good. We ordered the bruschetta and two fried eggs and a peach slab. Everything was great. Highly recommend it.
It is a busy, hectic place, but that also says a lot about how much people like it. No matter when I come, it usually seems packed: inside, outside, and in the different seating areas. I usually have to circle around a few times before I can figure out where I might find a corner to sit down and get some work done. It is not the calmest place to work, especially during busy times, but once you find a spot, it can be a nice place to settle in with coffee and a laptop. The biggest selling point is definitely the location. It is right by the beach in Pacifica. Soul Grind is also Pacifica's first coffee roastery, and they roast their coffee in-house, which gives the place more personality than a standard coffee shop. The whole vibe is very beachy, casual, and local, with a mix of surfers, people grabbing coffee after being near the water, and others trying to work or meet up. They have a pretty large coffee menu, plus food options like pastries, sandwiches, quiche, melts, and breakfast items.
This was my second visit to this casual cafe spot. I didn't write a review on my first visit because it was a bit of a letdown. One, the customer in front of us took a long time deciding what to order and we missed the weekend brunch menu by 8 minutes. Two, the cashier gave us the wrong number card so the staff couldn't find us to deliver our food. And three, though this was a cafe style place, customer service was subpar. We decided to give it another try because there must be a reason why this place was always busy. Came a bit early this time. The line was long but was moving fairly fast. There is QR code for the menu so I'd say check it out while you wait in line for at least 20 minutes! It will help to expedite your ordering process once you get to the cashier. There's a good amount of seatings both indoors and outdoors. A good spot to leisurely enjoy your meal if you're not pressed for time. I have had the Vietnamese iced coffee which was very good. This time around had the Cubano (their specialty latte) which was smooth, balanced, and so good! I was able to order the Irish breakfast this time that was only offered on their weekend brunch menu and only until 2pm. We waited a while for our food. And when we finally did, it was not even warm. This was a bit disappointing! The saving grace were the roasted potatoes and sautéed mushrooms that came with my breakfast dish. They were very good. The side salad that accompanied the Lorraine quiche was also very good. I would come back to this cafe definitely for the Cubano, the Ube cream puff, and maybe try some other pastries. A cozy welcoming ambience with great coffee, beer and sandwiches. Came here based on a recommendation from a friend and it lived up to our expectations! Expect a line on weekends, but it moves quickly and there's plenty of seating indoors and on the patio. Dogs are also allowed in the patio area making it easy for those accompanied by their furry family. We went here on a weekend at about 3 pm thinking we would beat the lunch crowd, but it was still packed! Looks like it's popular all day! We got the chipotle chicken BLT with pesto mayo on ciabatta bread, the 1/2 burger with secret (Thousand Island) sauce, some beer and a Cubano latte. Everything was delicious! The chipotle chicken BLT came with a side salad tossed in a fresh citrusy dressing that perfectly complemented the sandwich. This is a place where you order at the counter and they bring that food to your table. The lady taking the order (sorry for missing her name) was super helpful with recommendations and made the ordering experience stellar. The coffee was also great. They also have a fridge section with a variety of specialty drinks. A solid place to stop by if you're in the Pacifica area. read more

Yelpers did not let us down on the recommendation! Soul Grind has it ALL! Great service, amazing ambiance, and delishous food and coffee! We had our (nearly) standard almond milk decaf lattes. They were creamy, with nutty-warm coffee--and they even made pretty designs, which is challenging with almond milk. W ordered the almond croissant which was flacky, buttery, and had just a bit of almond spread. I had the salmon toast, which is served on a wheat sourdough bread and includes a light layer of cream cheese, cucumbers, tomatoes, chopped red onions, and capers. This was seriously the best salmon toast I've ever had. I split it with W and was a bit sad about that, but that's how much I love him. The toast came with a side salad of mixed greens. I wasn't expecting much but the vinaigrette wowed me! Not over dressed and they used a citrus, which I'm fairly confident was grapefruit. Yum! Since we split my toast, I was still hungry, so I went back for more food. It's so hard to choose because everything looks so good. So I went back to the pastry case and ordered the blueberry clafoutis. I've never had this traditionally French desert but heard about them on cooking shows. This version was made with a shortbread crust and had cherries inside the smooth and creamy custard, topped with fresh and sweet blueberries. I was VERY impressed by the food here! We just stopped by to eat after surfing so we were very hungry. Here are my thoughts: Food: their coffee was fine, I was expecting more because they specialize in roasting their beans I assume but it was still great coffee. Can't complain there. The food was the absolute best. High recommend their waffles and sandwiches. We tried so hard to figure out what was so different but we settled on everything from their waffle to their whipped cream to their syrup, was top notch! Service: the people there are nice, they clean up their tables quick so we were able to find a table fast for our party of 7. Ambiance was great they have a pretty big seating capacity, both indoor and outdoor seating were available. read more
This is an ideal breakfast or brunch spot located just about on the beach. If you want an epic morning, come here when they open around 7am so you can watch the fog burn off as the sun rises over the hills. They do the old school display of having the real dishes out on display (mimis cafe, anyone?) which I find absolutely endearing. It helps you understand the portion sizes and no one is caught off guard once you get your food. We've gone here a few times in the last month and we got the same food items each time. Avo & egg toast - 5/5 - the bread alone is 5/5. It's hard boil eggs, avocado, tomato, with dressed greens on top of rustic bread. It's both hearty and light at the same time. Buddha bowl- 5/5- husband raves about it every time. The tomatoes and quinoa are the stars in my opinion. Deliciously roasted tomatoes with quinoa is a delicious dressing. Quiche Lorraine- 5/5- no edits necessary The pastries! Ok, so 3/5- I'm not sure if it's their proximity to the ocean/ humidity but their croissants taste wet without that buttery flaky crisp. While I love Soul Grind, today it was more like a dog kennel. I literally could not sit because owners had their dogs using seats and I even had to step over a dog to grab a drink. I watched dogs licking off the floor, unleashed, dog owners apologizing for their dogs bad behavior towards customers and the space rather than heed the sign that dogs are only allowed on the patio. It was disgusting, unsafe, and unsanitary. Staff didn't do anything, even when people would order with dog in hand. The person on the cash register would simply say, next time just remember that dogs are only allowed on the patio with no action behind it. She did ask if they were service animals and when the owners said no, they just got a kind next time reminder from her while everyone else had to deal with it. I have a dog myself and if she was with me, I would have planned to have her on the patio. I usually love my time at Soul Grind. It was unfortunate that the staff couldn't manage the space. From what I've hear this is a local favorite and for a good reason. Local coffee roasters, wonderful coffee, and pastries. Ample parking with indoor and outdoor seating. The chocolate croissant is amazing! Paired with their coffees or matcha delicious. The area is very busy and there were lots of people here we almost couldn't get a seat inside. The food items we had were decent. My sister had trouble eating her sandwich because it was so big and Ive had better lox. This place is truly an experience with local surf shops Nextdoor it's work stopping by to explore. I really enjoyed coming here and I would recommend if you're in the area. read more
I'm writing this review after visiting soul grind for the second time and I think I've found my new favorite cafe!! I absolutely love the vibes of the space and the location right on the beach is sublimee. My first visit I had the gingerbread latte (seasonal) and I was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the espresso was even thought I had decaf! The space was busy even on a weekday but we were able to find the perfect spot by the coffee roaster to get work done. The WiFi has a 2 hr limit and a 1 hr blackout period so plan accordingly if you wanted to get work done here. My second visit was early on a Monday morning and it was a little slower (no line out the door) but the cafe quickly filled up after 9 am. I had the Spinach and Mushroom Quiche which was delicious and came with a small side salad. A little steep in price but I think worth the experience. I also tried their chai with oatmilk and loved how spicy it was! The chai and quiche was $20. Plenty of parking on a weekday. And again so beautiful on a sunny day in Pacifica! read more
A beachside coffee roastery that is perfectly set up to enjoy your coffee and food with a wonderful view and ample seating. The staff is nice and they offer fast service for their large demand. I ordered the Cubano Hot and Toasted Marshmellow Latte which they were both rich, creamy and full of flavor. read more
Lovely vibes! Gets pretty busy, even during the weekday, but it's worth it with its perfect ambiance! With everyone around, it seriously sounds like those youtube cafe background noise videos haha. They had cozy holiday decor up in December, along with a fire place and Christmas tree. Do note that you'll get timed out of the wifi after a while (forgot how long), but it'll let you back on after a ~45 min blackout period. I got the matcha chai latte and it was extremely bitter, so I definitely wouldn't get it again unfortunately. I was able to ask for simple syrup in the front and added some cream until I was able to drink it haha. I also got the pumpkin cream cheese cupcake and it was yummy! Perfect seasonal sweet treat! I would come back just for the vibes (not the matcha lol)! read more

Whoa! I'm coming back for their breakfast for sure! We swung by for coffee and there was a huge line out the door to order. We were probably 15th in line when we had a thought to order our coffee online instead. We did so, got out of line, and went straight inside to wait for our drinks at the pick up area. We waited and waited and waited for about 20 minutes but we're trying to be considerate of how busy they were, so we sat there in front of the bar just chatting (hoping we would hear our names for our drinks after given a 10 minute approximate wait time online.) After all that time, someone decided to ask us what we were waiting for (2 lattes!) and then told us that we should've checked in with the baristas earlier. Otherwise, they won't make the drinks if they don't know that you're already there. What a weird way to operate! read more

This is a popular spot on the weekends. Although there is a free parking lot, parking can be difficult since it's shared with other businesses and parking for surfers. Seeing the line out the door, we decided to visit after our hike. We ordered online when we were 15 mins from Soul Grind which allowed us to bypass the long order line and directly check in with the barista on arrival. We still had to wait 10 - 15 mins for our drinks. Ordered 3 items. Charcoal latte, Matcha Latte and a cinnamon roll. Charcoal Latte (4/5) Tasted like a regular latte with the added potential health benefit from the charcoal. I appreciated that it was unsweetened. Matcha Latte (2/5) The matcha was bitter, grassy and a little gritty. I would not order again as there are better spots for matcha. Cinnamon Roll (1/5) I noticed the pastry was from Starter Bakery which raised my expectations. However, the roll was dry and stale. This makes me hesitant to try their other baked goods. I did enjoy the vibe of the cafe. Indoor and dog-friendly outdoor seating. Friendly service. This spot is a nice option when visiting, but I would not go out of my way specifically for the cafe. The coastal hike nearby is worth checking out so if I'm in the area again, I would visit again to try their food as it looked good. read more

The ambiance was great lots of outdoor seating. Family friendly. The service was quick. The food was good simple. I was excited about the coffee i think the espresso grind may need to be adjusted it was not smooth. My friend ordered a quad shot and her drink came out very milky. I would come back and give it another try. I am a true coffee drinker . I love the smell of the beans roasting. I appreciated the organic milk being used everything was great quality . read more
Back here on a sunny Sunday. We arrived and lined up at noon, with seven people in front of us. We placed our orders and found a table inside. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks--one hot latte and one iced matcha latte--and another 20 minutes for our food. Expect to wait for your food, so if you're in a hurry, go early or skip this place, as there's usually a line to order and at least a 20+ minute wait for food. The drinks and food were good as usual. The place is cute and very welcoming. They even have a loveseat where you can sit and enjoy your drinks. Parking might be tough depending on the time, but if you circle around, you'll usually find a space. read more

Thoroughly enjoying my coffee and slices of pie here, I knew I would definitely be back here for more to which I made my 2nd trip back to see what else Soul Grind has to offer. The wait time here was unfortunately just as long as my first time coming here but if you're willing to wait, the quality of their food and coffee here is great. They have an assortment of sweet pastries that are more on the pie and heavier pastries vs. croissants & lighter pastries you'd see at a coffee shop and they serve breakfast/brunch/lunch here as well. I decided to get the smoked avocado toast, ube creampuff, plus the lemon ricotta pancake with a Tiramisu latte on the side. - The salmon toast was great and as you'd expect for a salmon toast, with the capers, chives, smoked salmon, and cream cheese on top of an artisan piece of bread. The bread was bit hard for my liking so that may be a slight negative to some. - The ube creampuff was PERFECT in terms of ube flavor plus creamy filling, and would definitely get it again if it's not seasonal. - The Lemon ricotta pancake was great with the lemon ricotta sauce drizzled on top with strawberries & blueberries. - Tiramisu Latte was unique as it's a latte with Tiramisu coffee flavor that was great for a sweet latte drink. Staff here were friendly and it was a very crowded day yet they seem to have everything all in order with everyone looking like they were really enjoying their day. An excellent cafe, Soul Grind hits the mark with quality food & coffee in the Pacifica area. Even with the parking lot that is a pain to find any parking and the long lines, I would still consider coming back here for more so if you're wiling to wait a bit, you'll likely enjoy what Soul Grind has to offer. Great drip coffee and food options. The workers all give great customer service! Ambulance is nice because they play music that I like to vibe to. The only issue is they have kind of a long line when you get there from time to time so it's better to order online for pick up if you don't have a lot of time. read more

While Soul Grind Coffee Roasters is popular with decent coffee, there was nothing that made me want to come back. For a Sunday brunch before hiking, my friends and I decided to visit Soul Grind based on the reviews. Even pulling up into the parking lot (shared with other businesses), we could tell Soul Grind was super popular with a line visible. It is a pretty decent sized place with plenty of seats indoor and outdoor. The decor is very on theme with a beach vibe which works well. While I thought the sandwich was good, I was a little disappointed with the pastries and coffee which was a big letdown considering they are a coffee roastery. Pour over coffee (2/5): My friend and I both got the pour over and we both agreed that the coffee tasted watery and did not have the rich flavor we would expect from a specialty coffee shop. Zucchini tea bread (3/5): Moist from the zucchini with bits of nuts to provide a little crunch. It did lean more into the sweet with a just a hint of spice. Cinnamon crumble cake (2.5/5): Nice cinnamon loaf but tasted more on the sweet side. Brekkie (4/5): Very solid breakfast sandwich. The croissant was lightly toasted and pressed to make sure to get the ham and cheese warm and melty. I enjoyed the jammy egg in the middle to provide a bit of richness to the bite. The sandwich also came with a side of fruit. Part of the reason for the line is that it takes awhile for each person to order. But once ordered, the food came out fairly quickly. As mentioned before, the parking was pretty rough during the brunch hour on the weekend since it does share parking with several other businesses. Given how difficult it is to get and the food/drinks being just okay, Soul Grind Coffee may only be worth visiting if less busy and other options not available. read more

Such a great spot in Pacifica! On a Sunday afternoon, this plaza was bumping so it could take a bit to find parking. Upon arrival there was a line to order and then you find a seat. There is a back patio as well where we found a spot. Beautiful weather just brings it all together. I loved the display of items right by the cash register so you could see various options and they all looked delicious so it was hard to choose, but expect a wait to order -- could take 15 - 20 minutes depending. We opted for the Irish Breakfast which was enough to share for the 2 of us. The plate comes with 2 fried eggs, pork sausage, bacon, roasted tomatoes, roasted potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, and bread. Everything tasted good and freshly grilled/cooked/well seasoned. Simple breakfast items but all done well. The bread was supposed to come with peanut butter and jelly but we didn't get that. Ordered the special item latte that was supposed to have blue spirulina, but it tasted like a regular latte to me. The coffee was smooth though. My partner got the cold brew and it wasn't bitter. There is only one bathroom reserved for patrons and there's another that is for employees only, but having only one bathroom (one stall) is very limiting. Someone in there was surely having some tummy problems and my partner was waiting in line for over 20 minutes during a busy Sunday brunch time. It would be nice for staff to see the line and just open up the employee one when it's backed up. read more
Soul Grind is located in the Linda Mar area of Pacifica, not far from the beach and ocean. It was nice to stumble upon a local coffee roaster. It's a popular place, even mid-afternoon. Most of the seating was occupied. There's seating inside and also outside in the patio at the back. There can be a long line to order, and also a long line for the restroom (because there is only 1 for the large volume of customers). Overall, it has a relaxed vibe where people can come to meet with friends or come here to work on their laptops. They have a decent menu of coffees & tea. It's a nice variety without being overwhelming. They also have bakery items, breakfast items, soups, salads, sandwiches and brunch. They had 3 types of coffee when I stopped by : Guatemala, Brazil and Sumatra. I chose a bag of Sumatra to make coffee at home. I love roasters that put a "roasted on" date on their package so you know how fresh those beans are. I enjoyed the Sumatra blend. I will have to try one of the other coffees next time I'm in the area. The bad ... parking can be a challenge since it is shared by Grocery Outlet and several other restaurants & shops. In addition to this, people try to park here to access the beach (despite signs saying it's for customer parking & others will be towed). read more
I have never seen a place set every single food dish they have to offer in resin for all to see! Very interesting- though odd. Soul Grind offers up delicious-looking food, coffee, and desserts with great parking, outdoor seating, and access to the beach. After ordering, we waited about 7 minutes for our matcha, which did seem like a while. It was good, though, perhaps needed more sweetness. The vibes here are beach-y with lots of indoor/outdoor spaces from the large rolling garage doors and cute back patio. They also have the roasting equipment out for all to see. Cool! We grabbed some desserts to go. We were most impressed by the carrot cake tart, though the lemon bar was good too. I just felt like, for the price, this place wasn't pumping out the quality of some of the other coffee shops I visited while in Pacifica. Still a great place to grab a coffee and snack! read more
