I grew up in Southern California, not the Cool part...inland. Not the greatest place but the coolest parts of my town were the local Deli and the local Pizza place. I had those in my next hometown of Benicia where my kids grew up, but that's kind of their town now so I needed to find a town of my own. I've been hanging out in Pacifica a bit cuz of the magic of the Taco Bell beach, but it's another square block of Pacifica that showed me the magic of this place. I've had about 47 meals over the past couple weeks at the Sun Valley shopping center near the Sanchez library annex. The uppercrust Deli rocks... No as bagels in the morning I've had two wraps and a falafel Sammy and a meatballs sandwich that Italy should ask for the recipe for and I still have about 20 sandwiches to try... Goodfellais at night for a beer and a piece of Pizza and the Cool jukebox or even some amazing garlic where they called cloves on toast I had last night... Home cooked burgers at the City Grill with great light night conversation... I'm looking forward to trying the mu shoe pork at the chinese restaurant but the Home cooked meats and mashed potatoes at the grocery store keep diverting me because they have that Cool Mexican half leader soda in a glass bottle. Anyway I have to finish my chicken wrap because I got a Cool hot sauce for half Price at the grocery outlet that I want to try and I have to hit 110 million on the pinball machine to get my name up there and I'm stuck in the 60s Cool places to try still just like Taco Bell Beach. Plus I rent cds free at the library next-door with the frisbee Park and BMX track that my dog likes. I have to cut and paste this review for the other places so you may see it somewhere else cause I'm not just gonna rewrite a separate one for each Cool place. No I have not been paid for this endorsement I just like Pacifica except for the house prices and the dog park is a little bit stuffy. read more

I've been here at least a dozen times...what a gem. Not only have we not had a bad sandwich, but they are terrific caring people. And seriously, these sandwiches are very reasonable and fantastic! We've had the Caesar Pastrami, Reuben, Philly Cheesesteak, meatball, meatloaf, club, two bridges, and smoked turkey & bacon. All were great...but my fav is the Caesar. I should have read the reviews before I ordered for DoorDash !!! Burnt !!!!! The buns looks like when forgot to take it out after 15 min?? Yes it's only supposed to be toasted not burnt I have never seen buns burnt to the point it tasted like charcoal I honestly don't know if they done it on purpose it looks like thou as other reviews also stated burnt wow common how can you not see the buns burnt black ???? Truly a hidden spot if you don't know the area, it's inside an old strip mall of sorts and you have to walk inside (behind pizza and pasta place) to get to their front door. The staff were friendly and prompt. They have a large menu, lots of specialty sandwiches. Overall good but average sandwich. My family liked their speciality sandwiches more than my regular turkey sandwich, which was fine but as a visitor, I wouldn't go out of the way to return. read more

Was everyone else high when reviewing this place? Well, it is Pacifica, so the answer is, probably yeah. Anyway. This place has terrible sandwiches. The chicken is the cheap frozen chicken with fake grill marks that is clearly microwaved for you, making it even more rubbery. This chicken would probably deflect a bullet. Similar to another reviewer, my sandwich had bacon on it, and it was BURNED to a crisp. To further compound the issue, the bread was also BURNED. Putting aside the burnt-ness of it all, the bread also tasted stale. It could have been the overtoasting, but it is much chewier than most other places. I bet the pre-shredded lettuce they use is also at least a day old. Places like Little Lucca also use pre-shred lettuce, but at least they open up fresh bags in front of you all of the time. I could not even finish half of the sandwich. Straight to the trash it went. I'm fully expecting to get food poisoning symptoms to show up soon. read more

A hidden gem in pacifica forsure! I usually go for the smoked turkey and bacon sandwich which is fireeeee! Or my other favorite being the chicken ranch melt sandwich on some dutch crunch ! Upper crust never lets me down with their fresh bread, meats and on top of that you arnt spending an arm and leg like other sandwich spots! Great friendly service as always! read more

Awesome local spot. Hidden gem in a rundown shopping mall. The menu variety is excellent everything from cold subs to burgers on the grill. They also have a limited breakfast menu. The prices are very good for this expensive area and the portions are large. Good bagels and breakfast sandwiches, they also have a breakfast burrito on the menu. Cold subs are good as well and loaded up with plenty of meat and veges with several varieties of fresh bread to pick from. Turkey sandwich was fire as was the chicken Philly. Owner is a great guy who really cares about the community. There aren't many places to eat in this area, this is definitely worth a stop by to grab a Sammy and head to a nearby park or beach. read more

I always love to support a local, small business, and this deli is run by a lovely family that makes the best BLT sandwich I've ever had, that is, when they don't burn it. And sad to say, based on the numerous times I've been there, my sandwich (the bread or bacon or both) comes out burnt 60% of the time. The last time I ordered a sandwich, I was disappointed and disgusted to find all of the bacon badly burnt, and I had to throw the sandwich out. The Caesar Pastrami Sandwich was honestly one of the best I've ever had. The meat was plentiful, tender, and flavorful, while the combination of jalapeño jack cheese, garlic spread, jalapeños, lettuce, onion, and tomatoes and Dijon mustard sent my taste buds into overdrive. The guy at the counter (Ray?) who took our orders was really pleasant and made us feel welcome. Don't sleep on this one - all too easy to miss inside an older strip mall. The menu is still p much the same as these pictures here from 3 years ago, even the prices posted on the board are the same as 3 years ago but beware that's not the prices that are charged. Located in a strip mall in a rather isolated part of Pacifica, it was hard to find. It is hidden inside a mall that looks abandoned. A small deli that looks family owned, the server was very pleasant. We ordered a special pastrami sandwich. The prices on the board are not accurate as there is a small sign by the register that the prices for sandwiches are $2 more than listed. Thus the photos of prices are not accurate and is thus misleading. The sandwich was good and spicy and a good value. read more

Tucked in the deeper end of Pacifica, I never know this place existed. Usually I just go to Colombo's. We went here around 1pm on a Saturday and the line suddenly became long after we placed our order. I like the hot sandwiches selection that they have. I got the chicken ranch melt. My bf got the philly cheese steak. It takes 10-15 minutes to get our sandwiches. Our sandwiches looked really yummy, however the chicken ranch melt needs salt (or more flavor in general). I think the problem is that the bacon isn't salty. I need to ask for a bottle of Tabasco to spice my sandwich a bit. The philly cheese steak tastes better. Will go back to try other stuff! read more

So I lived on the east coast where making meatball subs is an art form. I have been in California for more than 25 years. At one point in the late 90s I found an awesome meatball sub near Lake Merced, but the owner moved to the Embarcadero cause of the better foot traffic and since then I have been searching, and frequently disappointed. But not today. Today we discovered the Upper Crust Deli. I ordered the Italian meatball sandwiches and did not raise my hopes up, but when we ate them we were amazed at how good they were. Huge meatballs, smothered in marinara sauce and slices of cheese. The bread was toasted and crunchy. Serious yum!!! read more

After reading the rave reviews, we both had the philly cheese steak sandwich. Having lived in the Philadelphia area for years, this sandwich did not disappoint. The meat was tender, and the other ingredients (onions, green and red bell peppers, cheese, etc.) added to a great flavor. I've ordered multiple times from this deli over DoorDash and the order always seems to be wrong. Today I ordered three items and all three were prepared incorrectly. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and avocado...it arrived with no avocado! I also ordered a BLT sandwich and wrote in the special instructions "PLEASE ADD AVOCADO", they adjusted the cost of my sandwich upward because if the added avocado...unfortunately, when it was delivered NO AVOCADO! Finally, I also ordered a beef and cheese piroshki (please do not heat) and it came HEATED! This was not the first time they got things wrong so I will not be ordering from them again. Update 03/10/19: i would still give this place a solid 3 stars. Its not great but just ok. Me and my wife come here every saturday for a avacado / cream cheese bagel. It really is the best value in town, but they never keep the bagel selection stocked, its not from being busy either i just think they under order. For the price though they still keep me coming back even if i never get the garlic bagel i want. I used to come here for thier grill menu off and on but stopped because thier steak fries which used to be really fresh & tasty got substituted for some really mediocre frozen Fries. Sometimes I come here for lunch and order a sandwich though. My favorites are: the vegetarian, the two bridges, the eggplant delight, and the terra nova tiger! I would not reccomend thier potato salad, chicken salad or thier egg salad. On three occasions i have had shells in thier egg salad which was gross so i stopped ordering it. Thier potato salad does not taste like it is made in house and always tastes old, plus thier chicken salad never tastes fresh either. This is a great lunch spot to come to though and even with the recent price increase it is one of the cheapest places to get a halfway decent sandwhich! read more

I just got a turkey burger from upper crust and damn it was good! The grilled onions were delicious and I love that the bun did not fall apart which happens a lot with other turkey burgers. I love coming here. Their food is delicious. All home made and made with real love. Ray, the owner, is such a cool stand up guy. Every time I come in, we talk about just real life stuff and it's so refreshing and nice to be able to have that "native" feel. Miss that in the City/DC, surrounding areas. Anyways, back to the food! LOL. I get meat balls, burgers, pastrami sandwiches, meat ball sandwiches, chicken ranch bacon melt sandwiches. And to be honest, they're all BOMB! They just do it right here. Every. Single. Time.
