Do I recommend this place? Oh hell yeah! Guys, c'mon now. You gotta try it. I've had the special, the peanut, the portobello. It's all amazing! Good service. Parking is easy. They have a few outdoor tables, but I prefer takeout here. Or my buddy and I just eat in my car and listen to some tunes. My only complaint is that they close a bit early. One of the best sandwich spots in the whole bay area. I mess with you not. Try it. read more

Ordered the beef kare kare with a dollop of shrimp paste on the side. It was ok. The prices are really high for the area. I've had substantial and really good banh mis in SF for way less. Staff friendly. Mainly pick up and go but there is outdoor seating. read more

What can I say about this place? Consistently delicious Call the order in to skip the wait Always ready when they say it will be read more

One of the best banh mi's I've had in the bay! Whenever I go up to the city, I try to always make a stop here to get the cold cut banh mi. Dac biet banh mi- 10/10. The meat quality is high here, you can't even tell you're eating pig ear HAHA. They add a good amount of meat and the pate is sooo good. I always get extra pate as well, but that costs extra and def makes this $24 sandwich expensive. Besides the price, this banh mi has all amazing toppings that brings this sandwich all together. read more

Fast service. Consistent and delicious. Been coming here for 10+ years. My favorite spot close to home whenever I'm craving a banh mi or spring rolls. I usually get their grilled pork sandwich and a side of their peanut sauce to dip the sandwich. YUM! read more

We love the sandwiches and get take out from the Pacifica location pretty regularly as we live here. My feedback is that I've had trouble on many occasions contacting them to call in an order. Busy signal or call failed for an hour or longer even when it's not lunch time. Please update your phone system. read more

We ordered over the phone and picked it up and ate outside. We had the Special, Grilled Pork, and Portobello Mushroom sandwiches. We also had the shrimp and pork spring rolls. The sandwiches were pretty good, but on the small side for the price. I guess I'm used to $6 Bahn Mi out in San Jose. Of the three we tried, I surprisingly liked the portobello mushroom sandwich the best. The mushrooms had a ton of flavor. I wasn't too keen on the Special. Maybe it was the pork loaf. Not a fan. The spring rolls were also pretty average. Without the peanut sauce, it had very little to no flavor for me. There are tons of Banh Mi places in San Jose, so I've had a lot to compare these too. These were okay, but definitely not my favorite. read more

Stopped by Dinosaurs after taking a quick hike at Mori Point and along the beach; we got there around 2pm and it was quite busy still. There's maybe 4 tables of outdoor seating, but I wouldn't bet on there being one open during lunch time - we were able to snag a table as another group left while waiting for our orders. We got one special and one shaking beef banh mi to split between the 4 of us, since they're quite big and we weren't too hungry. The bread is nice and fluffy with a crisp but not hurt your mouth hardness crust, and there was a good amount of veggies and meat in each. I do wish there was a pate and more mayo in them, but it was still satisfying. We saw quite a few people getting avocado and watermelon lychee smoothies, so order one of each after we finished our sandwiches - the smoothies seem to take quite a while to make so be prepared to wait for them, they probably took 2-3x as long as the banh mi to be ready. The watermelon litchee was refreshing and served as a good dessert for my sweet tooth, and the avocado was smooth, creamy and not too sweet at all - not sure if they blend this was oat or soymilk but it tasted vaguely like oat or soy. Dinosaurs is a great option in Pacifica if you're not in a rush - great banh mi and drinks that are perfect for enjoying on the beach! read more

Dinosaurs has been on my list to try for such a long time. Decided to finally try the Pacifica location one day for lunch. Ordered the chicken and shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce and a grilled chicken banh mi. When you first walk in, you have the register/ordering area straight in front of you and visibly you can see the workers making your food straight to the back. To the right, you'll find the menu and some snacks (Asian snacks included). To the left, you'll find a fridge with drinks. Not too big of an area but it's probably designed for you to order and go. There are tables/seats right outside of the shop so that's convenient. The spring rolls were good but I didn't realize they put green apples in it. Not traditional in my opinion. Not horrible but really random. I preferred it without the apples so I took it out. The chicken was flavorful and I enjoyed it very much. The peanut sauce was also really good. Very peanut buttery. I always love a good peanut sauce with my spring rolls. Not many places make it this way (usually you'd see it mostly hoisin sauce) The grilled chicken banh mi had great flavor. Well balanced with the veggies and mayo. The bread however, was not a traditional banh mi. It was more like a torta. Although the flavors were good, I wouldn't order again because of the bread. Place overall is good but not traditional. Price is a little steep but it's expected for the area. If you're looking for a place to try that's not traditional, give Dinosaurs a try. I'd come back for the spring rolls...without apples :) read more

Yummy banh mi spot in Pacifica!! My partner took me here for the first time because he and his coworkers love it. I got the Spicy Tuna Banh Mi and it definitely lived up to the hype. I have a weak/mild spice tolerance so I definitely felt the heat, but it was delicious! My partner got the Grilled Pork Banh Mi, which he always raves about. Decent price and generous portions; I was able to eat my sandwich in 2 servings. They also have fast service (only waited around 5 minutes). Bonus points for easy parking and their location next to The Magic Toybox store which is super fun store to browse while you wait! read more

What a pleasant surprise to come across this gem of a place tucked in the corner of a large plaza! We ordered: -Special Sandwich: slow roasted pork with all the typical pickled veggies and jalapeños. The BREAD is SO GOOD. Crispy, chewy, and toasted to perfection! -Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls: comes with three large spring rolls! Love how it's made to order so it tastes super fresh. They could work on their peanut sauce to make it taste more authentic and less "pasty" or thick. Otherwise, really yummy! Only downside to this place is the prices...$13.75 for spring rolls is a bit expensive and $19 for the sandwich is also pretty pricey. Service was decent in the sense that you order at the cashier and they call out your number. If I'm in the area again, I would come back. read more

Got to try the meatball, dac biet (special) and shaking beef sandwiches today with all the toppings. Personally I wish the sandwiches were a bit bigger because they were so good. My sandwich had a healthy amount of pickled vegetables, fresh cucumber, cilantro and jalapeño. I also liked the flavoring of the meatball. I thought it was going to lack in flavor without being cooked in the typical tomato based sauced but that proved to not be the case! 9.1/10 banh mi I'll definitely be back for. As for the special sandwich otherwise known as the banh mi dac biet, wow. 9.8/10! Good amount of butter, pate and the thickness of each cut of meat was solid. Sadly this is the only sandwich I took a picture of. We also ordered the avocado shake and Viet iced coffee, both great as well. read more

Love the food here. Can't go wrong with any of their banh mi sandwiches! They're all good!!! Got the bbq pork today and shrimp and chicken spring rolls. The bread is soft with a perfect crunch on the outside. Spring rolls was a perfect size and you get 3 with your choice of sauce. It's located in a shopping center so lots of parking. Got our food at a reasonable amount of time... about 10 mins. Store is clean and staff is super friendly. There is outdoor seating in case you want to bring your pup:). read more

So, what's your alternative to eating here? If you're on your way to the beach, and you want sandwiches to eat while you watch the waves, or have a romantic cliffside picnic (and you didn't make your own gourmet meal to take), this place is a super legit option. You can do a lot worse. You probably will do a lot worse driving Hwy 1. If you are comparing it to the best banh mi you had in some hole in the wall deep in the OC, or in Vietnam, you're going to be disappointed. Is it expensive for a banh mi? Sure. Is it expensive compared to the $2 less you'd pay for a mediocre deli sandwich in the fancy grocery store in the same parking lot? Nope -- it's a great value. Think about your alternatives. This is a good option. read more

My go to is their special, but this time I had the kare kare banh mi. If you love this Filipino dish, this banh mi is sooo good!!

Fresh bread, perfectly cooked pork, and as much peanut sauce as a girl could want This is a staple in our take out for a reason--well priced, fresh ingredients, and consistent. We always get The Special and pork/shrimp spring rolls, and will mix it up with either the meatball banh mi or the grilled pork banh mi. Don't miss out on the mango smoothie with the perfect ratio of mint or the iced coffee that I personally need to share or I'll be up for 3 days straight. Never disappointed, always satisfied. read more

Dinosaurs is my go to for spring rolls. The rolls are thick, filled up nice, and still pretty affordable. They're currently renovating the space, but food is still being served. Right next to a boba spot, and a thrift store :) the perfect outting. Also super close to the beach if you want to grab some food and look at the view (when it's not so foggy) Their pork and shrimp roll with the PEANUT SAUCEEE is everything. Their workers are always so friendly, and I don't think they've ever missed picking up a call. read more

Dinosaurs is Pacifica's local Banh Mi shop. The sandwiches are not your typical Vietnamese sandwiches. The meat flavors were different but the toasted bread and pickled carrots were delicious. I look forward to trying a different sandwich next visit. The Spring Rolls.... Not sure I am a fan of the green apple within the roll. The rice paper wrapper on all three spring rolls were dry and cracked and it broke apart. It was hard to eat. Ambiance inside is like a warehouse and boxes everywhere. Prices have increased since their opening day. Increase in prices has been hard on customers to support businesses. read more

:( Swung by to grab a Banh Mi to watch the sunset with and I have been truly disappointed. Shaken Beef Banh Mi Cons: - $15 after tax - Filling portion is diabolical - bread wasn't fresh, the top was too hard and pokey. Middle was not soft enough - pickled veggies weren't as pickley as I'd except - too much mayo!!! Not enough everything else Pros: - lots of parking - pretty quick So so disappointed. I should've seen the red flags, no one spoke Vietnamese and the place is literally called Dinosaurs?.. Staff were speaking in Cantonese.. I guess it's okay but I wouldn't come back. read more

Tried their crispy tofu and grilled chicken sandwiches. Perfect for a picnic on the beach.

Solid banh mi spot serving up quick and tasty Vietnamese sandwiches! The bread is super duper fresh and tasted like it's cooked in house, which was my fav part. Loved the Asian snack choices they had too, honey butter chips for the win! Lots of tables outside. Grilled Chicken - Flavorful chunks for dark chicken meat with hints lemongrass. Just enough creamy sauce to go with the crisp veggies. Shaking Beef - Juicy beef slices with a savory and vinegary taste. Good amount of meat to veggie ratio. Shrimp & Pork Spring Roll - This could be a meal in itself! Very thick and generous with the protein. Shrimp was plump and no fishy aroma. Avocado Smoothie - Smooth and not too thick. Very subtle avocado taste, moreso tasting like vanilla for those who are wary of getting an avocado drink. Also, not overly sweet. Super refreshing on a hot day! read more

Every time we come to Pacifica to surf or hike we always stop here to get a Bahn mi sandwich! The French bread and ingredients are fresh and the meat options are flavorful. The sandwiches are good, I feel like you definitely get quality meat here. The special combo is normally deli meats at other banh mi spots but I feel like Dinosaurs makes their own meat for the combo, it's really good! On the other hand, I think the prices are quite high. $16 for a banh mi is quite expensive when they're usually half the price. Personally, I actually enjoy the traditional deli meat banh mis & the special combos are my favorite, but if you are willing to spend the money for a higher end banh mi, I definitely think this is the spot for you. read more

Dinosaurs Sandwiches - Tocino (top) kare kare (middle) special extra pate (below) - Vietnamese Near Me - Pacifica, California

If you're craving a really good bánh mì, this place is absolutely worth checking out. I've tried both the Beef Kare-Kare and the Tocino bánh mì, and both were incredibly delicious. The fillings were packed with flavor, but honestly, the bread deserves its own shoutout--perfectly crisp on the outside while still soft and fresh inside. I also ordered the Watermelon Lychee Smoothie. It leaned a little on the sweeter side for my taste, but it was super refreshing and paired really well with the sandwich. The spring rolls were good, but the dipping sauce? That was the real star. Seriously, I'd put that sauce on everything. The first time I visited, it was pretty busy, so the wait was a bit long. Since then, I've started calling in my order ahead of time, and it's made the experience so much smoother. It's definitely a little pricier than your average bánh mì spot, but you're paying for quality ingredients and flavors that deliver. Overall, it's a fantastic place, and I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

Always fast, consistently fresh sandwiches and spring rolls. However they close early, usually by 7pm.

Good spot for bahn mi takeout as they are located not too far from the beach. We got the grilled pork and special bahn mi and took them on our hike at Mori Point. Sandwiches were a good size and delicious but pricey. I understand there are some costs from county requirements and they post a note about that on the front window. Sorry, fair wages and insurance coverage are the cost of doing business. Service was efficient and helpful enough. Not much seating except for a few tables outside. read more

Best bahn mi ever! The bread is so fresh, meat is deliciously marinated, and pickled veggies are perfect. 100/10!

Easily some of the best bánh mì Vietnamese sandwiches and spring rolls in the area. The bread is solid, fillings are flavorful, and everything tastes fresh. It definitely hits the spot when you're craving Vietnamese food nearby. The only downside is the price -- it's a little on the expensive side for what you get. It's still worth it if you're in the area, but if you're willing to drive, there are better options for cheaper in San Jose and other spots. Overall, good food and a reliable choice when you're nearby. read more

Finally, a place that gives me a lot of extra pâté when I ask for extra . I feel heard. Also it's a small shop (pick up only) that's located in a plaza with lots of parking spaces. Aka no parking struggles! If you're debating on a sandwich, get the shaken beef banh mi. The portions are pretty big and it's so good that you'd be in a battle with yourself to either save half of it for later so you can relive the joy of eating this delicious banh mi - or - live in the moment and just eat the whole thing. Plan b, the smart choice, would be to buy an extra sandwich. Do what I should've done and order two. read more
