    Dac biet banh mi
    Natalie T.

One of the best banh mi's I've had in the bay! Whenever I go up to the city, I try to always make a stop here to get the cold cut banh mi. Dac biet banh mi- 10/10. The meat quality is high here, you can't even tell you're eating pig ear HAHA. They add a good amount of meat and the pate is sooo good. I always get extra pate as well, but that costs extra and def makes this $24 sandwich expensive. Besides the price, this banh mi has all amazing toppings that brings this sandwich all together.

A bit pricy for Banh Mi with crispy tofu (with can of soda was $20). Taste was good and made fresh. I usually go to kitten and pinky down the street but they were closed. Was filling enough though!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped by Dinosaurs after taking a quick hike at Mori Point and along the beach; we got there around 2pm and it was quite busy still.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's maybe 4 tables of outdoor seating, but I wouldn't bet on there being one open during lunch time - we were able to snag a table as another group left while waiting for our orders.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got one special and one shaking beef banh mi to split between the 4 of us, since they're quite big and we weren't too hungry. The bread is nice and fluffy with a crisp but not hurt your mouth hardness crust, and there was a good amount of veggies and meat in each. I do wish there was a pate and more mayo in them, but it was still satisfying. We saw quite a few people getting avocado and watermelon lychee smoothies, so order one of each after we finished our sandwiches - the smoothies seem to take quite a while to make so be prepared to wait for them, they probably took 2-3x as long as the banh mi to be ready. The watermelon litchee was refreshing and served as a good dessert for my sweet tooth, and the avocado was smooth, creamy and not too sweet at all - not sure if they blend this was oat or soymilk but it tasted vaguely like oat or soy. Dinosaurs is a great option in Pacifica if you're not in a rush - great banh mi and drinks that are perfect for enjoying on the beach!

We ordered over the phone and picked it up and ate outside. We had the Special, Grilled Pork, and Portobello Mushroom sandwiches. We also had the shrimp and pork spring rolls. The sandwiches were pretty good, but on the small side for the price. I guess I'm used to $6 Bahn Mi out in San Jose. Of the three we tried, I surprisingly liked the portobello mushroom sandwich the best. The mushrooms had a ton of flavor. I wasn't too keen on the Special. Maybe it was the pork loaf. Not a fan. The spring rolls were also pretty average. Without the peanut sauce, it had very little to no flavor for me. There are tons of Banh Mi places in San Jose, so I've had a lot to compare these too. These were okay, but definitely not my favorite.

The banh MI was very tasty, but the price was really high and portion not huge. The other place in town is serving sandwiches for almost half the price, this place is tasty, but wish the portion and amount of protein was larger.

Dinosaurs has been on my list to try for such a long time. Decided to finally try the Pacifica location one day for lunch. Ordered the chicken and shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce and a grilled chicken banh mi. When you first walk in, you have the register/ordering area straight in front of you and visibly you can see the workers making your food straight to the back. To the right, you'll find the menu and some snacks (Asian snacks included). To the left, you'll find a fridge with drinks. Not too big of an area but it's probably designed for you to order and go. There are tables/seats right outside of the shop so that's convenient. The spring rolls were good but I didn't realize they put green apples in it. Not traditional in my opinion. Not horrible but really random. I preferred it without the apples so I took it out. The chicken was flavorful and I enjoyed it very much. The peanut sauce was also really good. Very peanut buttery. I always love a good peanut sauce with my spring rolls. Not many places make it this way (usually you'd see it mostly hoisin sauce) The grilled chicken banh mi had great flavor. Well balanced with the veggies and mayo. The bread however, was not a traditional banh mi. It was more like a torta. Although the flavors were good, I wouldn't order again because of the bread. Place overall is good but not traditional. Price is a little steep but it's expected for the area. If you're looking for a place to try that's not traditional, give Dinosaurs a try. I'd come back for the spring rolls...without apples :)

Yummy banh mi spot in Pacifica!! My partner took me here for the first time because he and his coworkers love it. I got the Spicy Tuna Banh Mi and it definitely lived up to the hype. I have a weak/mild spice tolerance so I definitely felt the heat, but it was delicious! My partner got the Grilled Pork Banh Mi, which he always raves about. Decent price and generous portions; I was able to eat my sandwich in 2 servings. They also have fast service (only waited around 5 minutes). Bonus points for easy parking and their location next to The Magic Toybox store which is super fun store to browse while you wait!

Got to try the meatball, dac biet (special) and shaking beef sandwiches today with all the toppings. Personally I wish the sandwiches were a bit bigger because they were so good. My sandwich had a healthy amount of pickled vegetables, fresh cucumber, cilantro and jalapeño. I also liked the flavoring of the meatball. I thought it was going to lack in flavor without being cooked in the typical tomato based sauced but that proved to not be the case! 9.1/10 banh mi I'll definitely be back for. As for the special sandwich otherwise known as the banh mi dac biet, wow. 9.8/10! Good amount of butter, pate and the thickness of each cut of meat was solid. Sadly this is the only sandwich I took a picture of. We also ordered the avocado shake and Viet iced coffee, both great as well.

Love the food here. Can't go wrong with any of their banh mi sandwiches! They're all good!!! Got the bbq pork today and shrimp and chicken spring rolls. The bread is soft with a perfect crunch on the outside. Spring rolls was a perfect size and you get 3 with your choice of sauce. It's located in a shopping center so lots of parking. Got our food at a reasonable amount of time... about 10 mins. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Store is clean and staff is super friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There is outdoor seating in case you want to bring your pup:).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Still one of my fav banh mi places in the area, note some increased prices though due to tarriffs

If you're craving a really good bánh mì, this place is absolutely worth checking out. I've tried both the Beef Kare-Kare and the Tocino bánh mì, and both were incredibly delicious. The fillings were packed with flavor, but honestly, the bread deserves its own shoutout--perfectly crisp on the outside while still soft and fresh inside. I also ordered the Watermelon Lychee Smoothie. It leaned a little on the sweeter side for my taste, but it was super refreshing and paired really well with the sandwich. The spring rolls were good, but the dipping sauce? That was the real star. Seriously, I'd put that sauce on everything. The first time I visited, it was pretty busy, so the wait was a bit long. Since then, I've started calling in my order ahead of time, and it's made the experience so much smoother. It's definitely a little pricier than your average bánh mì spot, but you're paying for quality ingredients and flavors that deliver. Overall, it's a fantastic place, and I'll definitely keep coming back.

We ordered the combo pho, ground pork rice rolls, grilled pork spring rolls, and shrimp papaya salad. The fish sauce was slightly salty, and the grilled pork was extremely salty, we actually preferred eating some of the dishes without the fish sauce. Otherwise, the remaining dishes were good. Customer service was great, but the table was quite sticky, which affected the overall dining experience. The ambience was casual and busy, but felt a bit unkempt during our visit.

This is the first Vietnamese restaurant I've been to that offered a standard bowl of pho (combo) for over $20. I still remember, long, long time ago, when I could have gotten a bowl of pho $7.95. As expected. The garlic noodles with pork was quite tasty and enjoyable. The egg rolls knocked it out of the park. Parking can be a pain in the butt. Exclusively street parking. Customary at most Vietnamese restaurants, you get your food with minimal check ins and not even a plate clearing until the bill comes. This was NOT the case here. There service was definitely in the A/A+ range! I ordered on my phone via QR code, but there was an option to order in person from a server. I ordered many items to try out. I ordered spring rolls, crispy salt and pepper wings, grilled pork banh mi, beef dac beit pho, and a Thai iced tea. Thai Iced Tea was pretty good. Grade: A I thought the Spring Rolls were decent, but what made them even better was the peanut sauce! I always hate when the peanut sauce is watery and this was far from that! An excellent gooey peanut sauce and maybe one of the best I've had fpr consistency. Grade: A- Crispy salt and pepper wings definitely had an incredible crunch. They were up there in crunchiness. The drumettes were meaty which I appreciated. They were well seasoned also. I think I need to try their other wings before crowning these, but some of the cruncheist wings I've had for sure. Grade: A- Beef Dac Biet Pho had some real high quality meat in it. I had options in noodle and my go-to for any pho spot is the egg noodles. I wish it had more bo vien in it, but I appreciated the combo of meats. The broth seemed authentic, but I wanted a tad more flavor out of it without adding sauces. Overall, the pho grade was a B+ bordering an A-. The star of the show was the grilled pork banh mi. The meat was tender and saucy. In fairness I asked for extra pickles and mayo, but I was very impressed. The bread had the crispy crunch we all look for but minus the stale bread. The breads soft yet crispness made it seem as if it just came out of the oven! I'm going to dub this as the best I've had in the Bay Area! There I said it! Grade: A+ Everyone who ordered the sampler seemed very pleased at other tables, I would definitely try that. Also, want to try the other banh mis and noodle options for the pho. There was a nice vibe at this place. I didn't feel rushed although they do close fairly early at 8pm. The server's mom is the one cooking in the kitchen and I appreciated the family feeling at this place. They do have a newer location in San Francisco that has a DJ Friday nights that I may check out. I believe the server said that they are open til 2am on most nights, but I may have misheard her. Feel free to Yelp that location. My only disappointment was that I really love papaya salad and it was not an option. I may make this my go-to spot from now on, but as a Yelper, we all know we will keep trying new places. This will be the one I continue to frequent. Well done Pho de Nguyen!
