One of the best banh mi's I've had in the bay! Whenever I go up to the city, I try to always make a stop here to get the cold cut banh mi. Dac biet banh mi- 10/10. The meat quality is high here, you can't even tell you're eating pig ear HAHA. They add a good amount of meat and the pate is sooo good. I always get extra pate as well, but that costs extra and def makes this $24 sandwich expensive. Besides the price, this banh mi has all amazing toppings that brings this sandwich all together.
We ordered over the phone and picked it up and ate outside. We had the Special, Grilled Pork, and Portobello Mushroom sandwiches. We also had the shrimp and pork spring rolls. The sandwiches were pretty good, but on the small side for the price. I guess I'm used to $6 Bahn Mi out in San Jose. Of the three we tried, I surprisingly liked the portobello mushroom sandwich the best. The mushrooms had a ton of flavor. I wasn't too keen on the Special. Maybe it was the pork loaf. Not a fan. The spring rolls were also pretty average. Without the peanut sauce, it had very little to no flavor for me. There are tons of Banh Mi places in San Jose, so I've had a lot to compare these too. These were okay, but definitely not my favorite.
Stopped by Dinosaurs after taking a quick hike at Mori Point and along the beach; we got there around 2pm and it was quite busy still. There's maybe 4 tables of outdoor seating, but I wouldn't bet on there being one open during lunch time - we were able to snag a table as another group left while waiting for our orders. We got one special and one shaking beef banh mi to split between the 4 of us, since they're quite big and we weren't too hungry. The bread is nice and fluffy with a crisp but not hurt your mouth hardness crust, and there was a good amount of veggies and meat in each. I do wish there was a pate and more mayo in them, but it was still satisfying. We saw quite a few people getting avocado and watermelon lychee smoothies, so order one of each after we finished our sandwiches - the smoothies seem to take quite a while to make so be prepared to wait for them, they probably took 2-3x as long as the banh mi to be ready. The watermelon litchee was refreshing and served as a good dessert for my sweet tooth, and the avocado was smooth, creamy and not too sweet at all - not sure if they blend this was oat or soymilk but it tasted vaguely like oat or soy. Dinosaurs is a great option in Pacifica if you're not in a rush - great banh mi and drinks that are perfect for enjoying on the beach!
Dinosaurs has been on my list to try for such a long time. Decided to finally try the Pacifica location one day for lunch. Ordered the chicken and shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce and a grilled chicken banh mi. When you first walk in, you have the register/ordering area straight in front of you and visibly you can see the workers making your food straight to the back. To the right, you'll find the menu and some snacks (Asian snacks included). To the left, you'll find a fridge with drinks. Not too big of an area but it's probably designed for you to order and go. There are tables/seats right outside of the shop so that's convenient. The spring rolls were good but I didn't realize they put green apples in it. Not traditional in my opinion. Not horrible but really random. I preferred it without the apples so I took it out. The chicken was flavorful and I enjoyed it very much. The peanut sauce was also really good. Very peanut buttery. I always love a good peanut sauce with my spring rolls. Not many places make it this way (usually you'd see it mostly hoisin sauce) The grilled chicken banh mi had great flavor. Well balanced with the veggies and mayo. The bread however, was not a traditional banh mi. It was more like a torta. Although the flavors were good, I wouldn't order again because of the bread. Place overall is good but not traditional. Price is a little steep but it's expected for the area. If you're looking for a place to try that's not traditional, give Dinosaurs a try. I'd come back for the spring rolls...without apples :)
Yummy banh mi spot in Pacifica!! My partner took me here for the first time because he and his coworkers love it. I got the Spicy Tuna Banh Mi and it definitely lived up to the hype. I have a weak/mild spice tolerance so I definitely felt the heat, but it was delicious! My partner got the Grilled Pork Banh Mi, which he always raves about. Decent price and generous portions; I was able to eat my sandwich in 2 servings. They also have fast service (only waited around 5 minutes). Bonus points for easy parking and their location next to The Magic Toybox store which is super fun store to browse while you wait!
The banh MI was very tasty, but the price was really high and portion not huge. The other place in town is serving sandwiches for almost half the price, this place is tasty, but wish the portion and amount of protein was larger.
Easy 10 out of 10. If you want a bold, delicious alternative to a classic Italian deli sub, this Vietnamese sandwich hits every spot. Great customer service, too!
A bit pricy for Banh Mi with crispy tofu (with can of soda was $20). Taste was good and made fresh. I usually go to kitten and pinky down the street but they were closed. Was filling enough though!
Got to try the meatball, dac biet (special) and shaking beef sandwiches today with all the toppings. Personally I wish the sandwiches were a bit bigger because they were so good. My sandwich had a healthy amount of pickled vegetables, fresh cucumber, cilantro and jalapeño. I also liked the flavoring of the meatball. I thought it was going to lack in flavor without being cooked in the typical tomato based sauced but that proved to not be the case! 9.1/10 banh mi I'll definitely be back for. As for the special sandwich otherwise known as the banh mi dac biet, wow. 9.8/10! Good amount of butter, pate and the thickness of each cut of meat was solid. Sadly this is the only sandwich I took a picture of. We also ordered the avocado shake and Viet iced coffee, both great as well.
Love the food here. Can't go wrong with any of their banh mi sandwiches! They're all good!!! Got the bbq pork today and shrimp and chicken spring rolls. The bread is soft with a perfect crunch on the outside. Spring rolls was a perfect size and you get 3 with your choice of sauce. It's located in a shopping center so lots of parking. Got our food at a reasonable amount of time... about 10 mins. Store is clean and staff is super friendly. There is outdoor seating in case you want to bring your pup:).

Dinosaurs Sandwiches is located in Eureka Square in Pacifica off CA-1. There's ample parking in the Square. Dinosaurs is One of a few places in the area offering tasty banh mi Vietnamese sandwiches. The small Pacifica location was my first visit a few years ago and I have bounced back and forth between that and the even tinier San Francisco Lakeside location on Ocean Ave. There is some seating set up outside which great for a sunny day in Pacifica. You walk in, peruse their menu, inscribed on lacquered wooden boards, posted up high to the right and then head straight to order at the counter. They offer a nice variety of banh mi, add-ons (added cost), fresh spring rolls, and drinks with quality ingredients & produce. Take note of any specials that day! Jonathan was very nice and great with any questions. You order, you pay, then wait for your order. Ordered to go: THE SPECIAL aka a classic combo banh mi w/pickled carrots, daikon & cucumbers, jalapeños and Mayo on a French baguette. I did ask for extra jalapeños and it was a perfect banh mi! This is a fav and is difficult to get over to order something different. S o m e t h i n g h a p p e n e d! BEEF KARE KARE was a special banh mi posted on paper below the wooden menu! The word KARE KARE, PEANUT Sauce and a small side of BAGOONG! The words jumped out at me and I had to have it! Love Kare Kare, a Filipino oxtail peanut sauce stew, and is a must order when I see it on a menu and bagoong, a fermented shrimp paste, condiment is the icing on top of everything...yum! This was definitely a difference twist on a Filipino classic dish. I enjoyed the slight touch of peanut sauce spread hidden in there and the bagoong is not for the faint of heart but, dude, it was good! I'd order this again! WATERMELON LITCHI SMOOTHIE is a drink that's thoroughly refreshing with watermelon and the chewy litchi jellies. Another fav that's difficult for me to forgo in my visits here. It's really good. Other favs have been the Pork & Shrimp fresh spring rolls, and the Crispy Tofu banh mi. Next visit, Will try the Tofu & Taro fresh spring roll, Grilled Pork or Roasted Portobello banh mis, Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Mango Mint Smoothie or the Avocado shake. Looks like Dinosaurs Sandwiches' also have locations in SF SOMA and the Castro. As well as a soon-to-be-opened spot in Union City. Wow! Note: I especially appreciate the old school French baguettes Dinosaurs ls continuing to use for their banh mis. Quite a few SF banh mi places have switched to a bread vendor, a few admitted it's one vendor they're all using, where it's definitely NOT a French baguette. And it comes out not so great. From my cousin-in-law's suggestion, I found this hidden gem inside a quiet strip mall in Pacifica. This cooks up some really delicious Banh Mi sandwiches outside of San Jose. I tried the Shaking Beef and it was "da bomb". The beef was cut into nice thin slices not those hard to eat chunks of beef like other places. This was prepared like getting a cheesesteak but Vietnamese style. The menu is pretty limited but what they do offer is definitely worth trying. If you ever find yourself in Pacifica and want to bring some sandwiches to the pier to go whale watching, Dinosaurs might be your spot. They also take calls using a pre-millennial pay phone which is quite nostalgic. read more
It had been quite a while since my last visit to Dinosaurs in the Castro probably because their storefront is hidden away. It's not because I don't like their sandwiches. I did (review: https://bit.ly/3UgoeqG). That positive recollection served me well when I was feeling peckish after a long walk around Mori Point in Pacifica. This bustling shop is on the quiet side of a shopping center. It's a tiny spot taken up mostly by the prep kitchen with the rest of the space dedicated to storage. In other words, it's pure takeout which was fine by me since I wanted to bring the food home to eat. I ordered the $12.95 Special Banh Mi which featured three types of pork - slow roasted pork, pork loaf, and pate - with all the requisite ingredients in a French baguette (photo: https://bit.ly/3Gh6Ax2). That was deliciously filling with plenty of pig, cucumbers, jalapeños, and pickled daikon and carrot packed in the crunchy roll. I met chris the owner a long time ago at a pho spot and he told me to come to his shop. I been gradually coming here every once in a while when in the neighborhood. Everything is made fresh, and the quality is amazing. I know they have one in frisco but I like this location the most. The taste is good, and get an ice coffee too. read more
Sometimes things just go downhill. It's not quite as good as it was before. Trying their "The Special" sandwich with slow roasted pork, pate, and pork loaf with all the fixings on French bread. The sandwich was skimpy, though the bread was great. Would love to see more pate and meat for their high prices. This was a very lackluster sandwich. I also got a grilled pork and grilled shrimp spring roll with peanut sauce. This was awful. Warm and soggy shrimp with hot peanut sauce. I also hate, hate, hate their bitter green apples in the spring roll which has an acidic taste against their burnt and dry grilled pork. None of us wanted another bite of our spring rolls. I haven't been here for ages, so I decided to come back. Guess I won't be returning, which is fine by me. read more

Ordered a grilled pork banh mi and a thai tea, 10/10 for me. Banh mi was super filled and juicy, might be my fave place from now on to get my banh mi fix from Service was quick and easy. Also this is super close by to my house! I go to the thrift store in the same plaza nearby and while waiting to sell my clothes I'm just walking around, this is always a nice spot to get a bite from read more

This banh mi is absolutely incredible! The mix of crunchy bread and pickled carrots with the soft grilled texture of the pork, it's just all too perfect. Of course the price ($13.03) is a bit of an eyebrow raiser but in this economy I feel like everything has been affected by inflation so it's expected Very kind cashiers! Best banhmi I have had in a while, super fresh, juicy and pork combo goes so well with green apple, carrots and jalapenos. The baguettes are fresh and perfectly crusty - the right amount of crunch but you can still get a good bite of your sandwich. The herbs and vegetables are fresh and tasty. We all liked the smear of mayo on the bread. The shaking beef was delicious - tender and slightly fatty. The dark meat chicken was perfectly done. We also really enjoyed the tofu and taro spring rolls, which we had with traditional peanut sauce. They're generously sized, and the combination of flavors and textures was very satisfying. The watermelon litchi smoothie was perfect on a hot day. Really more like an icy, fresh watermelon slush with litchi jelly. Look forward to trying the other drinks on future visits. And to top it all off, they have a fun selection of drinks and snacks, including Asian goodies, coconut water, Mexican Coke, and more. There's also a rack of Dinosaurs branded tees and hoodies. It's in a strip mall with plenty of parking, and there are several tables out front. The perfect place to pick up a picnic for your hike or day on the beach. read more
The food and drink were great. I honestly don't have much bad things to say about it. The bread wasn't really French bread but it was still really good. The pate was good, lots of pickled vegetables, jalapeño. The only reason I'm giving them a 4 star is because of their price. It's honestly super expensive for Bahn mi. Their drink was pretty expensive too. I wouldn't come here often but it would be a nice place once in a while. read more

Pro tip--call ahead!! I arrived there at 12:30 on a Saturday and there was nobody else in line. Waited for 15-20 minutes because there were many phone orders ahead of me. This place is very popular! Based on the reviews I read here, I was incredibly excited about the crispy tofu and taro sandwich and a little disappointed when I finally bit into it. I was expecting a bit more freshness. It tasted very fried and savory, almost fishy/meaty. Not my personal preference when it comes to vegetarian sandwiches but I can see how others would like it. Bread was good though! No seating indoors, a handful of tables outside. read more
This Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich shop can be hard to find as you're driving down Oceana since there are no signs by the street to indicate where to turn. I've uploaded a photo of the building to look for. Dinosaurs is located in the strip mall where Tea World (boba tea shop) is located; it's several doors to the left of Tea World if you know where that is. Tea World is another shop in this strip mall that is hard to find due to lack of signage. You don't realize where the shop is until you walk up close to the front of the store and can finally see the sign. Dinosaurs is a bit of a hole in the wall. You can't even see the name of the restaurant (sign) from the street. You blink and will completely miss it. The space inside is very tiny and cramped. They sell other knick knacks (clothing, etc) and there are also a few arcade machines (turned off, not plugged in). It was all placed as if much of the floor space was used as storage space. There are 4 tables outside on the sidewalk between the store and the parking spaces. Not exactly a pleasant area to sit down to eat. And it can get cold out there in Pacifica. Ordering was pretty easy. The wait was reasonable, probably because it was after the lunch rush (after 1pm) and there was only one other person ahead of me waiting for her order. THE SPECIAL (sandwich) - 8/10 I wasn't sure what to expect so was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful this sandwich was. I loved it! It was also very moist, which is much different from most banh mi sandwiches from other shops. The sandwich was also huge, so I ate one half and saved the other half for later. SHRIMP & PORK SPRING ROLL - 8/10 This order came with 3 spring rolls and peanut sauce. Everything in the roll was fresh. And they rolled it up nicely so that it didn't fall apart while eating. My order was $22.38 for 2 items (sandwich and spring roll). This was one of the more pricy banh mi shops I've been to. But I wouldn't mind stopping by here again in the future when I'm in the area. read more
Dinosaurs is a small place in a strip mall in Pacifica that I was excited to try as I needed something that was fit for brunch but not super heavy for a pre-golf meal. When you step inside, it's simply a place to order your sandwiches and you can enjoy it outside at one of a few tables set up outside the place. Menu is simple, there's the traditional Banh Mi Dac Biet (special with headcheese and pate) as well as other creations. I tried the shaking beef banh Mi and it was absolutely delicious with tender beef, a healthy amount of mayo and perfect bread and pickles. Think of this place as a awesome place to try fusion banh mi. Would be back mostly for takeout as the seating area is filled with metal aka cold furniture which can be a bit challenging in windy Pacifica.
