So this sandwich shop is part of a liquor store off Skyline Blvd. I get the sense the two men who work there (a Caucasian man and maybe middle eastern guy) don't get along. There's even a large dog there which is a bit of a turn off. However, the sandwich is pretty good. My only "beef" is they microwave the meat, making it on the soggier side. I would have never chanced upon this place if it were not for Yelp. My son and I stopped by for some sandwiches prior to heading to the park and I was surprised to see this sandwich stand inside of a liquor store. To be clear this was right inside the market. There are clear parking signs right up front. I drove past it initially didn't realize it IS the 1st shop in the plaza/complex. Sandwiches are made on the spot. Open kitchen sorta area so you can see what's going in. Owner was fast and easy with the recommendation. Staff was really good making it quickly and kinda showing me the inside before he wrapped it up. I'm not too much of a fan of using microwave but once in a blue moon is okay. You can also tell them not to if you want, then you can go home to reheat it. The cheese melted just perfectly on the sandwich. This place isn't super close to me or I'd stop by more often. Came in the morning and there wasn't much of a wait; only one person ahead of me. The owner is very nice and has a friendly 2-year old German Shepherd. The dog does bark but doesn't display any aggression. If you are allergic, you may want to wear a mask before coming in. The sandwich shop is located in the Quick Mart, which is in a small plaza. There was plenty of parking in the morning but I could see it getting crowded easily. You are supposed to place your order at the register and pay, with the sandwich station across from it. I ordered the Flying Dutchman on Dutch Crunch. The sandwich was a good size, bigger than Ike's sandwiches (check my photo with a pen for comparison), cut in half. The ingredients were fresh, sauce abundant, and the meat perfectly layered. My sandwich did not have ingredients sliding out when biting into it! The sandwich maker double checked with me about the adjustments I asked for, heated the sandwhich, and sent me off with a paper towel. I have no complaints about the service. I discovered this place on yelp and decided to swing by. First thing, there are only 8 parking spots and when I was there, only 1 remaining spot was free. The sandwich shop is inside of a mini mart. There was already a small line of 4 people, however because there was only 1 person making and all the sandwiches were hot, it took about 35-45 minutes to get my sandwich. First thing I noticed was there were no prices anywhere. The sandwiches, chips, drinks and snacks all don't have prices. They not only covered the price with a piece of cardboard but the title "Miss Tomato" is covered as well so I assume at some point the shop was turned over to the current sandwich maker. The sandwiches were a good size, warm and fresh however it is not accurate. I got the Mediterranean sandwich and it did not come with hummus, came with 3 tiny cucumber slices and I would think it's cold since it's Mediterranean. My husband got the Fogbuster and it did not come with basil and spinach. They also seem to be out of some stuff like tuna salad and wheat bread at noon. All in all, the "specialty" all seem to be a regular sandwich with everything on it with the cold cut protein listed. It was good however it wasn't what I expected. These guys work so hard at their craft. We got two sandies before heading the the beach and really only needed one. Just the shear heft of these bad boys will tell you you're in for a treat. First...this is a convenience store with a sandwich counter. Don't expect a fancy deli with a meat slicer etc. Second, the care put into making the sandwich is just amazing. We were asked about bread options, garlic sauce, etc. high level of personalization into the sandies. Lastly the best ingredients were super fresh and the bread was exceptional. I found this place while researching restaurants/eateries to try during our stay in Pacifica recently. I read about the sandwiches here and drooled. I showed my wife and her family the menu and photos and the decision was quickly made to try this place. Plus, I wanted to say hi to "Max" the GSD at the store. As luck would have it, Miss Tomato was less than two miles from the AirBNB we were staying at, so it would be rally convenient for us to stop by, order, pick up and take back to consume before heading off for a night of fun in the City. My wife, BIL and I walked in ad were immediately greeted by the owner, who while I never got his name, seared is Roshan. But I already read about his GSD, named Max who was behind the counter when we walked in. I greeted Max and he looked at me and promptly went back to his guard (nap) duties. We looked over the menu board and made our choices: 1-Flying Dutchman with everything on Sourdough 1-Mediterranean on Dutch Crunch 1-T.O.P.S. (The Only Pastrami Sandwich) on Dutch Crunch 1-Italiano on Sweet Roll/Bread When Roshan was starting to take our orders, he congratulated us for arriving before he sold out for the day. I believe we arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 1300 and he told us he only has enough sandwich ingredients to make forty-five (45) sandwiches per day. I'm guessing it has to do with the amount of fresh bread that he orders/has delivered to this location. I'm unsure if the Daly City location has the same cut off number as well. We were watching a true artisan at work creating more delectable masterpieces for the world's foodies to enjoy. He began by asking us if we had been here before. Nope, our very first time. So he proudly hands us each a small chunk of bread smeared with a green colored sauce. He described it as his garlic sauce. Let me tell you, it was damn delicious! Then came another chunk of bread with a reddish/orange colored sauce. This one, Rosahan warned us was a spicy. I love hot, spicy foods so this was sauce was also one I liked even though smoked chipotle is not one of my favorite flavor profiles. But I did ask that both stases be added to my sandwich. The three other sandwiches opted for the garlic sauce only. Be prepared to standby the counter while your sandwich is lying being assembled. Roshan asks with every accompaniment on your made-to-your-specs sandwich if you want in included or not. Even if you indicated at the beginning younwanted everyone on your sandwich like the menu board indicates. To me, this show how much Roshan takes his sandwich artistry and how concerned he is with you enjoying your sandwich 100% with no regrets for adding or not adding something. The layers of meat is a very generous portion and is quite fair for the pricing of the sandwiches which I believe was around $12 each. Trust me, you don't get this size, type or quality sandwich at any chain brand sandwich shop or even some of the other Mom and Pop shops in the Bay Area or Southern Calif. There was an elderly lady that was helping out behind the sandwich counter. She was kinda shy and quiet but still very friendly when we spoke to her. Roshan wrapped up our sandwiches and rang up our other drink and chip purchases which came up tom around $85. As I was leaving we chatted for a brief moment before heading back to our AirBNB to eat. Our sandwiches were just amazing! My Flying Dutchman was a mouthful and my jaws hurt from stretching it wide enough to bite into the sandwich plus this was real SF style sourdough bread: chewy, elastic crust and soft bread inside. After awhile, truly good sourdough ( I grew up eating sourdough in the Bay Area from the City) will make your jaws hurt from chewing so much. All the components meshed so well with my sandwich, harmonious in one huge mouthful each time. The sandwich was really filling: I should've stopped at just eating one half of it but it was so damn good, I ate the second half. I was so full after that. Eating dinner at Pier 39 later that night was going to be a challenge. Everyone else enjoyed their sandwiches as well. All felt the same as far as flavor, and how every ingredient just complemented each other. My wife and her Silver both were smart and ate only one half of their sandwiches. MY BIL did the same as me and was feeling as full as I was. If you ever have the opportunity to stop by either of these locations, please do. Bread was on a Panini press to flatten & warm the rolls which were sweet & not too doughy. Meat was generous, Jalapeño slices added a kick, had Provolone cheese & the lettuce was a nice Spring Mix vs. shredded lettuce!! Meat was a good, thick portion & lean too! I think the pleasant Syrian owner was making the sandwich, talking to hubs about being grateful to live in this country without all the violence he left. The kind gentleman making the sandwiches also runs the store, so be ready to wait a little bit if there are other customers. I was today years old when I learned about the best kept secret on the peninsula, Miss Tomato. A friend took me here after a visit to Fort Funston and even when we pulled into the parking lot I didn't know we were in the right place because there is no sign outside with the name "Miss Tomato" on it. It looks like your run of the mill little strip mall, convenience store/liquor store from the outside, but the inside was so full of uniqueness, local specialties, and killer sandwiches made by a guy who is clearly passionate about his sandwiches and his spreads. He gave us samples of the spreads, made recommendations, and customized our sandwiches with multiple ingredients, all fresh and delicious. I got the Fogbuster. I was only able to power through about 1/2 a sandwich - it felt like it weighed about 5 lbs. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other varieties. Also an incredible selection of interesting chips I'd never heard of, some unique ice cream treats, and a wall of interesting wines and beverages. I was working nearby and had the freedom to grab a bite nearby. I pick out an establishment that is alignment w my current mood and that's a heavy duty sandwich. Before the deli chef put the finishing touches on my Dutchman, he gave me some toasted bread with samples of their pesto and famous sauce(green and reddish orange) and i felt very confident that this was exactly what I was looking for. I was also told from a contractor that I work with that he was a patron here for years, so that meant something.. I ordered mine without onions and tomatoes but I was still met with a plethora of rich flavors that hit all the right notes. It was like music, I say..lol. Anyway, im totally down to try what else they have in store. Everything was fresh and my favorite surprise flavor was the peppers that gave a sweet and spicy kick to put it all together.
