This place earns a slow clap and a full standing ovation from me just for their ingenious name alone. My slowly degrading brain cells--in whatever small reserve I have left--get a whatzitsnameagain syndrome every once in a blue moon, but I certainly won't be having that issue whenever I need to make a revisit to this CoffeeShop. Perhaps for the same reason, this spot seems to always be full of people all day long. I felt like I hit the jackpot when I went there today and actually found an empty table to work at. To keep myself from dozing off, I ordered their Dirty Chai. The dose of caffeine from this drink did its job wonderfully as I was able to get some productivity flowing for a solid 3-4 hours in one sitting. This coffee shop is so adorable and worth a visit! Although I haven't tried the coffee (lol matcha girly here), the matcha is fantastic. The pastries were amazing as well! We tried the vanilla custard bow (so cute and picturesque) and the veggie quiche, and both were delicious. Vibes are minimalist but cute and welcoming. The San Francisco mural is so cool and there's a decent amount of seating although it was mostly full. We met one of the owners and it was amazing to hear the passion that he and his wife have for the place (he manages the coffee and she the pastries/cafe!). Spacious spot for your work at home needs if you are able to get a spot! I came to coffee shop on a Wednesday afternoon and was able to grab a seat at the communal table to do some work. They do offer WiFi is a great bonus and they have a restroom for customers. There is a couple of 2 person tables, a window side table for solo patrons, a communal table that can seat 6-8, and lots of outdoor seating. I would classify coffee shop as your neighborhood cafe that is great to get some work done and not necessarily a spot with unique drinks. They do have a good selection of pastries for you to try from (unfortunately I was too full prior to try!) I do appreciate that they did have samples for you to try out. Something cool I noticed is that they did have individual mini water pitchers with mini cups for you to take from their sugar/milk station. It's very thoughtful and I appreciate the attention to detail. We usually go to the 21st street location, but wanted to see the original location. It was a huge disappointment. Multiple mix ups in orders. We ordered a Chai, and someone walked up and tried to walk away with it. Then someone else took out hot chocolate. They made a new hot chocolate but it was a small (even though we paid for a medium). One of the best (milk) mochas I have ever had. The coffee flavor comes thru with a beautiful chocolate finish. Literally, CHEF'S KISS. The Devil Inside 'biscuit' is hauntingly good. Came by a Wednesday morning (~9AM) and it was very busy. Most tables were full with folks either chatting or on their laptops working. However, the line moved VERY fast, we were in and out in around 10-15min top. I ordered a lemon custard croiffin and a dirty chai. BOTH WERE AMAZING!!!! The croiffin had the flakiness of a croissant, but at the same time fluffiness of a muffin. They lemon custard was a not too sweet and a perfect citric taste, not super sour. They had a plate with samples, which I found very unique. I was able to try a few of the pastries they had and decide which one I liked best before buying them. The staff were very kind and the spot felt very cozy. Overall, will definitely revisit this spot! Not too light for a modern coffee shop, either, where I often find the "regular coffee" too acidic and buzzy (my personal taste is old school dark roasts). The server "Bee"/"Bi" this Monday (iirc) was incredibly rude and the drink I got was terrible, a very very bland and flavorless mocha that may as well been skim milk mixed with decaf and no chocolate. For one, it's nice to see something just as awesome open, but they also fit the area so well. Inside, their bright and minimalist decor gives off a warm and comfy sort of vibe. As for their menu, they've got a solid, albeit mildly typical, selection of coffees and teas, ranging from your basic cup of coffee, pour overs, and espressos to fairly more unique offerings, like Dirty Matcha, London Fog, and Thai Breakfast. In addition, you can also choose from their rotating array of beans that originate from all over the world, including Brazil, Sumatra, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, Colombia, and Kenya, which they roast themselves! -- DIRTY MATCHA - Matcha with a shot of Espresso...$7 I'd had a dirty matcha elsewhere and loved it, so I knew I had to get this when I saw it. I loved the way the two complemented each other - it tasted more like a matcha, but with a slight bitterness from the espresso. Most impressively, it was nicely balanced, as neither one overpowered the other. -- POUR OVER - Sumatra Beans (Medium Roast - "Fruit Leather, Vanilla, Nougat")...$5.75 I was torn on a few of their beans, so I opted for the barista's favorite. I got an iced latte and a slice of banana bread. Iced latte was good. I think their ice has coffee in it because the color wasn't clear/see through. I loved that if the ice melted, the drink wouldn't be watered down. The latte was smooth too. The banana bread was gluten free, so the texture was a little on the chewier side.
