This coffee shop is at the ground level of my friend's apartment complex and it's such a lovely spot. The interior design is really grey and industrial with the smooth concrete but they really warm the space up with the light wood and yellow accents and the friendly and warm service from the employees brings it all together. My partner got a vanilla latte, a go to test to see if we vibe with a coffee shop, and we were not disappointed with the flavor and balanced experience. I had had enough caffeine that day, so I opted for a vanilla hibiscus iced tea, flavor of the vanilla was balanced with the hibiscus, but I felt acidity was lacking overall in the drink, which would have made it better by having more of that distinct hibiscus flavor. read more

It's such a cute, happy spot tucked away in the Potrero Hill area. I love how open and airy it feels -- there are a few seats inside and plenty of outdoor seating. Cute café in a sleepier part of Portrero Hill with excellent drinks and friendly service! I tried their iced Americano, which came in a hefty pint glass, and the owner was kind enough to add the chocolate ganache used in the Mocha (I didn't want milk) for a modest $1 up-charge. The drink was $7 in total, which I felt was reasonable given the size and the taste. The coffee itself was earthy and not over-bearing. The vibe of this place is really the star, with a sun-kissed, almost European atmosphere. The interior has lovely finishes that feel high-end and create an open (yet still cozy) feel, and the exterior has a beautiful side patio with ample seating and umbrellas, in addition to tables with umbrellas on the street. Located in Potrero Hill, this café has their own roastery in South SF, so they use and sell their own beans. Order at the register, find a seat, and pick up your order once it's called. There was a line in the morning, so it took me ~20 minutes to order and receive my coffee. I didn't see any pão de queijo AKA Brazilian cheese bread when I went. After browsing the menu, I ordered a hot Mocha ($7.00): +Drinkable temperature: Hot, but doesn't burn your mouth/tongue +Espresso was strong +I removed the lid and noticed a cute heart. I think they should leave the drinks uncapped so customers can appreciate the latte art! +Compostable paper cups -As someone who usually orders drinks w/less sweetness, I'm glad I didn't. In fact, I wish it was a bit sweeter and more of the chocolate came thru. If I closed my eyes, I wouldn't be able to tell that this was a mocha. Side notes: 1.) Ikon is one of those places that just get better and better with each trip. I first went several months ago since it is one of the convenient coffee places in our neighborhood - the espresso drinks were great, but they didn't have much then to offer in regard to food. Fast forward another couple of months, and they not only had amazing coffee, but also one of the best biscuits in the city (try their breakfast sandwich, I dare you). They also offer a variety of other baked good made in house (muffins that are steaming up the pastry case...wow), which I am hoping to continue to go back to try. Their baristas are knowledgeable and generous. They are also very baby friendly, and I have never felt rushed being there when meeting with a friend or getting a small bit of work done. Loved their roastery in San Bruno and found out about thier cafe location in Potrero Hill, and it's quickly become one of my favorite neighborhood spots. Swung by here cause it was the closest coffee shop but wish I didn't. These were the highest prices I've ever seen for a coffee shop; I literally gasped and cried internally. The barista was nice. The place was a cute little corner cafe that was open and bright. Minimal seating inside but some table outside too. Parking is free on the street. We ordered two vanilla lattes, each $8.5 plus an extra $1 for oat milk in mine. These prices were so exorbitant for the most average lattes comprised of mostly milk. This was the most expensive cup of coffee I've drank, and it was not worth $10. The cups aren't even cute or customized with their brand, just plain plastic cups. Coffee menu is boring and doesn't offer any unique flavors. I guess if you like chai, they have some interesting creations. My boyfriend drank half, and I was not gonna waste so I downed it. Overall, I wouldn't go here again. There is nothing special, so there is no justification for these ridiculous prices. Go grab a cheaper, better cup of vanilla latte at any other coffee shop. read more

Cozy neighborhood coffeeshop in Dogpatch! Located in a quiet residential area with very friendly staff and a simple menu with all your classic coffees! I love how if you buy a bag of beans you get a free coffee with it. They have a few choices of food too if you're hungry. We had a breakfast sandwich and loved how it came warm! Came on a weekday lunch, super quick service. It's a nice chill neighborhood to just have coffee and catch up in the city, parking maybe a bit hard to find. They roast their own beans in south SF and sells them at the store! We got the tumeric ginger latte and a cold brew. I personally don't like ginger but it was such an interesting drink and you can definitely taste the distinct flavors of tumeric and ginger and it's not sweet. Ikon is a great a coffee shop with a variety of beverages and delicious pastries. From the classics (americano, cold brew, latte etc.), specialty drinks (mocha shooter, ginger and turmeric latte or chai), kid's drinks, to teas, they have it all! I tried the ginger and turmeric chai as I'm pregnant and not drinking caffeine at the moment. It was the perfect drink in the morning as it was warm and soothing. And I loved the deep flavors of the ginger and turmeric, it wasn't too strong but perfect. I also had the french scone. Baked fresh at the store, it was delicious and perfect with my chai. Crunchy on the outside and super moist and soft in the inside. I also liked how it's not sweet compared to other scones. It was different in a good way. I also recommend talking to Marcel, the owner of Ikon. He is very nice and great to tak to. I asked if they had sugar free flavorings - No. I asked if they had coconut milk - No. They don't take any big bills over $50. Finally the first real coffee shop in dog patch! I must admit I'm kinda a coffee snob. I have my own espresso machine at home and often source hard to get beans so it's rare for me to like a coffee shop. 1 one of the first things I look for in a coffee shop is do they roast their own beans and ikon does. There's reasoning but that's a whole other review. Ordered a cappuccino with out milk saw they had thing called "geisha shot" which is basically a shot of whatever premier bean they are using. Tried to buy a bag of it (Ethiopian bean) but they were sold out. So I opted for another bag (Guatemalan) and it was good for home consumption lol. They had some interesting food option did not try them but will definitely be coming back.
