    Pumpkin spice latte
    Jon T.

Simple and minimal spot for good coffee. Quite a lot of space to sit down inside and a kiosk ordering system for ease! They have all your usual espresso-made drinks, including (at least right now) a pumpkin spice latte! They have pastries too but at first glance on their kiosk it didn't seem like any were vegan (sadly.) I will check again next time though in case something changes.

Alas, a proper coffee shop. Sextant is a versatile hub to chat with friends over coffee, a quick drop in or a full on study session when in Mission. The barista, Jonah, is extremely friendly! There are plenty of seating, WIFI and a power outlet are available--surprisingly rarities in SF! The Wired Gandhi is wonderful. Will definitely come back when in the area.

Came here on a sleepy Saturday looking for a place in Mission to get some work done in the afternoon -- this Sextant location's been open for a year ish and is pretty clean and quiet inside. The tables are kind of small (and there aren't that many), but they have reliable wifi and self service at the counter. There aren't many non-coffee options here, so I got a Wired Gandhi to try it out -- it was way too strong for me personally but I could see some folks enjoying it. My partner got a peppermint latte which he really enjoyed.

sextant coffee roasters is such an incredible cafe in the mission. free wifi, outlets, there's always seats. ambience is conducive to a productive afternoon. background lofi music isn't too loud. drinks are tasty. i always get the peppermint espresso latte. prices are pretty standard for a sf cafe. restroom is also clean and locked off with a code that the staff can provide. location is great too, near 22 bus line, 16th st bart.

Grabbed a quick drink before heading out to help a friend with errands--loved the vibes of this place. their drinks were also great--sweet but not overly so, definitely let the coffee have its time to shine.

I went to three different coffee shops looking for matcha/chai, and then I finally found Sextant. The chai was good, and not too sweet/didn't taste like it was from a concentrate. I really enjoyed it. Sat inside for a little, and the interior was really cute. Good service too!

Great coffee and service. I got the latte, satisfied with it. Free wifi. Ambiance is ok, some seats are significantly taller than the table. Ok amount of outlets. Online kiosks to order. Not an ideal place to study, would come back for coffee if I am in the area.

    Ube Latte

Came by on a quiet morning. Mission seems to be pretty empty during the day. I got an ube latte. I don't see it on the menu anymore though. It was great, not too sweet but could still taste the subtleties of the coffee and ube. Would recommend coming for coffee.

A quick message to all about Sextant Coffee Roasters on Valencia: I ordered their Macchiato, and it's truly outstanding. It jolted me to the bone, as they say--delivering that perfect kick and flavor. The ambience at Sextant is inviting and cozy, making it a great spot to enjoy your coffee. On top of that, the service is exceptional, friendly, and attentive, enhancing the whole experience. I % recommend giving Sextant Coffee Roasters a try if you're around Valencia. This is my 2 cents for today--enjoy great coffee and embrace the moment!

    Brown Matcha

I wouldn't recommend this place. Unless you want to waste money. The matcha is actually horrible. They probably use Costco matcha. The flavor is quite strange. I asked for a vanilla latte instead since the matcha seemed to be low quality matcha powder. The cashier had an attitude and was upset about me disliking the matcha. She then made a latte without vanilla syrup which is what I paid for. $8 for a latte without syrup.

Iced Matcha Latte w/ oat milk | $8.75

4.5 STARS Matcha lovers know the struggle of finding a solid matcha latte in the city and beyond. Most neighborhood cafes I've been to serve matcha lattes that taste like milk with a splash of matcha made from pre-made concentrate. So, I will go out of my way and brave the anxiety inducing layout and parking situation on Valenica for Sextant. And, risk parking at a loading zone. Shhhh, don't tell DPT. Sextant makes a really solid matcha latte w/ oat milk ($8.75): https://tinyurl.com/4mf5xx7h Ceremonial grade, hand-whisked to order, the matcha latte is robust with a strong earthy vegetal bitterness that's balanced by the creaminess of the oat milk (Califia). So, why not 5 stars? The ONLY sweetener they have is sugar in the raw that doesn't melt in iced drinks. If customers are paying nearly $11 for a matcha latte (post tip), please offer simple syrup or soluble sugar substitute for iced drinks. TIA! O T H E R I N F O * Sextant specializes in Ethiopian coffee and roasts their own beans at their original SoMa location on Folsom. * This is their second location in the city that has a minimalist hipster vibe with limited seating, a mix of high tops and low top tables. Two benches outside. * Online ordering is not live yet. * Bottled drinks available. No pastries available yet. * Quiet with no music playing so you can get work done. * Free WiFi. * One restroom available. * Street parking can be a nightmare but more doable weekday mornings. Bart is just around the corner.

This might be my new favorite wfh coffee shop around Mission! There's free wifi, but limited seating with three wider tables with bar stools (and the right side has more solo seats). Coming in, there is a self-ordering kiosk if you'd like to use (pretty straightforward). I am usually a fan of iced drinks, but here - they blew me away with their hot Wired Gandhi drink (espresso with chai). It's on the sweeter side, but it's my new must get drink. Highly recommend. My only wish is that they would close their front doors. A couple of bugs get into the store, but otherwise - the shop is nice and quaint, restroom and areas are all clean. I wouldn't have any loud meeting calls here, however. More of a nice and quiet spot to work and chat with friends.

wanted to try the wired gandhi ($7.50) since it was their specialty. unfortunately I couldn't really taste much of the "dirty" (espresso) part, only the chai part, and it was pretty sweet. the latte was better

It seems like there's also an upstairs but did not get the chance to check it out. I got an iced latte with their almond macadamia milk, and they're also so nice to do complimentary cold brew! So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

But Katsu is really becoming the new hype of the day for Japanese food, following the Sushi, Ramen, Japanese Curry, Katsu trend. So I came in with a critical view. I feel like Yoshoku in general may be next but I yet again digress. The box sandwich came in a cute little box. The inside was packed so I couldn't get a chance to fully appreciate the cafe, but the service was nice though the pay line may have moved slower than hoped. I'll say this. This is "the" best katsu sando in the bay. The katsu is crispy, but little on the softer side. But this hardness matches perfectly with the absolutely tender, soft, juicy pork wrapped inside. I'm looking at the menu again and it all makes sense. The pork has been in shio koji, making the meat ever so tender while adding the subtle but complicated marinated flavor. The cabbage is plenty, but not over packed to take away from the main Katsu flavor. What really perfects it for me, was not only the sweet and savory katsu sauce, but the mayo with dash of I think a karashi mustard. That slight tingle, the perfect kick gives a powerful awakening of flavor that really sets the it apart. This is art, an artisan. Culinary art is the refuge no raging rampant AI slop "art" can ever hope to touch. Until the day we get some cyborg implant to our brain into gustatory, olfactory functions. Even then, I don't think any tasteless tech bro are hopeless to create anything unique or beautiful.
