Banhwich has all the charm of a wonderful, small, family-run restaurant. The service was fast and super friendly! Just a heads-up that they are cash-only, but they accept Venmo and Zelle. Indoor seating is very limited, but there's a small park just a block away with picnic tables. I ordered the combination pork, the BBQ pork banh mi, and a Vietnamese iced coffee. Both sandwiches were absolutely solid, but the grilled pork was standout for me! As for the coffee, I'd probably pass on it next time. It was a bit too watery for my taste (I want it to be more punchy!). Overall, a great little spot for a lunch run!

Been a while since we last visited Banhwich. Thought we heard there was a change in ownership. In any case, hubs was craving a banh mi as usual so we decided to drop by on a Sunday at around 11am. It was pretty busy. Placed our order for a couple of combinations and a pate, as well as the rice noodles (#23). Order took about 20 minutes to be ready. Light, crispy bread. The banh mi were reasonably priced, but contained more vegetables than meat. Would've liked more pate in the pate banh mi so more of that flavor came through vs the vegetables. The rice noodles were soft and tasted fresh. Owner was friendly and made a point to greet everyone who visited.

Pro tip: today I picked up my usual order. At the cash register I noticed a laminated card - Venmo or Zelle. When I asked, this is the last payment choice. Cash is king here. Also checked off as #5 on my 2026 eat local 'hood list.

Came in today for an easy lunch to take to the beach... Pros- very friendly service. Reasonably priced (8.95 per sandwich), they cut a slit on the container for the egg rolls, so they don't become too soggy! Relatively fast service. And while it's cash only, also offer the option to use Venmo or Zelle, which I appreciated! And if you don't have time for the beach, there's a small park nearby where you can enjoy your food (McCoppin Square, next to the library). Cons- it's on a busy street, so parking maybe hard. It's cash only, but as noted in the pros- they do offer a Zelle or Venmo option! The guy forgot napkins, but he was the only one I saw running the front and making sandwiches, so it's understandable! Just check before you leave, so you have some napkins!

Tastes just like the old school mom and dad shop with new technology. Good food and good service. Highly recommend with utmost regard.

We stopped by this banh mi spot on a whim and it did not disappoint. It's takeout-only, which makes it perfect for a quick grab-and-go stop. Our two sandwiches were ready in about seven minutes, and from the first bite, we knew we made the right choice. The bread was incredibly fresh and toasted to perfection, crisp on the outside with that soft, airy interior. The meat was perfectly crispy yet still moist and packed with flavor. The toppings were vibrant and fresh, layered thoughtfully so every bite had the perfect balance. At such a great price point, it's an absolute win just make sure to have cash!

I am always on the lookout for a good Banh Mi in San Francisco. It's a good thing when you run into a place which offers a good Banh Mi. It seems the Vietnamese Banh Mi popularity has grown everywhere and Kentucky Fried Chicken ( KFC) has recently released a Banh Mi on their menu in Australia. In San Francisco there are some good places in different neighborhoods for Banh Mi. In the Sunset Strip of San Francisco there a place to grab a good Banh Mi. Inside Banhwich on Taraval street it seems more like a take out place to order and wait for the Banh Mi. I ordered the Banh Mi Pate and it was scrumptious. The pate was savory and tasty. The bread was fresh and it wasn't too flakey like some in SF. I also had the Shrimp Spring roll and it was soft and flavorful dipped in their peanut sauce. Overall a good place and a good value to grab some good Vietnamese food on Taraval street. Don't "forget" while you are on the " Internet" to go to Banhwich in San Francisco in the strip called the "Sunset"which has some delicious Banh Mi using a fresh " baguette" All I can "say"is order the tasty Banh Mi "Pate " and their Shrimp Spring rolls are "okay"and they are only open during "day "

I've been coming here since high school days and Banhwich always gets the job done. Solid quality banh mis made fresh to order. They also sell other dishes like vermicelli and rice bowls. Your order is made first and you pay after, it's cash only. There's 2 small tables inside if you wanted to dine in, otherwise it's pretty much take out.

Combination pork sandwich, fried eggrolls, and a Thai tea. Parking is pretty difficult on Taraval in general, so beware, you may have to hike a bit. Limited seating inside. Items prepared fresh to order. Don't expect an amazing sandwich. Its getting 4 stars because it's fresh, tastes fresh, great pate, good pickled veggies. Only downfall is the bread. Would like different French bread. Great service. Amazing eggrolls. Would totally order them again. Hot, cripsy, good filling--I ate it before I could take a photo, and the Thai Tea was legit good. CASH ONLY. Will definitely be back soon.

Ordered a bbq pork banh mi, the pork was seasoned well and had lots of flavor. There is a good amount of other toppings like the pickled carrots and daikon. Service was great too, everyone working there was super nice. The only thing is the sandwich itself is a little small, and it felt like the bread to contents ratio was a little too high. I was very full on bread.

The bread is amazing. Crunchy exterior, soft interior. Never had bread like this before. I'm hooked. Also the veggies are so fresh and crunchy! I got the combination pork (cold cuts). Twice!

A top contender for best banh mi in SF. For the (reasonable) price, my combo banh mi was packed with pickles and cold cuts. They always make then fast. IMO, the bread they use is one of my absolute favorites ever. Toasted and crispy but not hard to bite through. Shrimp rolls were also tasty. I just wish the parking was easier! Note that it is cash only but you're also able to pay with zelle or venmo.

Great affordable bahn mi spot, grabbed a bbq pork for $9. The bread was nice and soft and all the toppings paired well with the meat, solid sandwich especially for the price.

"IT'S QUE VIET!"…read more No Superman here, but let me be your hero for a second because I'm about to put you on to, hands down, **the best Vietnamese food I've ever had**. I actually discovered Que Viet through DoorDash and had everything delivered. I ordered the Deep-Fried Imperial Rolls (Cha Gio), Grilled Chicken & Chicken Imperial Roll Garlic Noodles (Mi Top Ga Nuong Cha Gio Ga), Grilled Pork Sausage Rolls (Nem Cuon), Vietnamese Shrimp Mini Crepes (Banh Xeo Tom), and the Grilled Pork Sausage & Sliced Pork Woven Vermicelli (Banh Hoi Nem & Thit Nuong). Yes... I spent almost **$100 for two people**. Looking back at the receipt, I had to ask myself, *"Is this place expensive, or am I just fat?"* Honestly... probably a little of both. Either way, it was one of the best $100 I've ever spent. If it's your first time ordering from Que Viet, do yourself a favor and get the **garlic noodles**. I know garlic noodles are everywhere these days, but these completely changed my expectations. They were perfectly cooked with an incredible bounce, packed with rich garlicky flavor, and the portion size was generous enough for leftovers (if you have the self-control). I also tried the **Banh Hoi Nem & Thit Nuong** for the first time, and it did not disappoint. One heads-up, though: it's generously topped with crushed peanuts. My friend has a peanut allergy, so thankfully we caught it before digging in. If you have any nut allergies, be sure to mention it when ordering. Every single dish arrived fresh, flavorful, and tasted like it had just come out of the kitchen despite being delivered. That's not something you can say about many places. If you ever find yourself in the city, you **need** to make a stop at Que Viet. This place has been living rent-free in my head ever since, and I already know I'll be back the next chance I get.

Some dishes were better prepared than others, but overall, the food was solid across the board. If you enjoy making your own spring rolls, you'll love the grilled pork skewers. The pork is super tender and has such a incredible flavor profile of lemongrass, garlic, fish sauce, and more. Rolled up with the woven vermicelli noodles and fried wonton crisps in a rice paper, you get a wonderful combination of texture in a single bite. The other crowd favorite of the night was the bánh xèo -- the stuffed rice crepe. The bánh xèo here is by far the best one that I've ever had, even surpassing ones I had in Vietnam. The outside was insanely crispy and and was surprisingly not particularly oily, while the inside was loaded with fillings. Two other dishes that were well received by the group was the betel leaf wrapped grilled beef and the sugar cane shrimp. The beef had a very similar flavor profile as the pork, but the texture was a lot more lean. The shrimp had a bouncy, yet firm texture to it, and was very well-seasoned. My only qualm with the shrimp dish is that the sugarcane did not actually have any sweetness to it. There's fish sauce on the table along with a shrimp paste sauce, but to be honest, every dish we had was so flavorful on its own, the sauces aren't even needed. The only dish that we ordered that fell short was the grilled river shrimp. The presentation of the shrimp is impressive and very photogenic, but the flavor was lacking and the cook was inconsistent. Some people had shrimp that was undercooked -- borderline raw, and on the other end of the spectrum, others had shrimp that was so overcooked, that it was very difficult to remove the shrimp from the shell without completely tearing the meat. That said, everything else we ordered was well-prepared, and very tasty. Service was good throughout the meal, and I would definitely come back again for a meal with a large group. 4.5 experience rounding up to a 5.
