    Hanoi Egg Cream Coffee [4.5/5]
    Izzie L.

Quaint cafe in the Haight-Ashbury area. Stopped by here to quickly refuel after a long run in the city (service seemed a little bit judgemental that I was sweating a bit so I tried to get out of there fast XD). I ordered their Kumquat Slush Punch and the Hanoi Egg Cream Coffee [5/5]. The kumquat slushie was really delicious, though I thought the chopped kumquats at the bottom of the drink were an unpleasant texture. The coffee was pretty yummy! A little overwhelmingly sweet, and I wish the texture of the egg cream was a bit thicker. Overall, a nice experience.

They start serving food at 11 AM. We came a little early and had coffee first, then ordered banh mi. The sandwich was huge and filled generously. I tried the pork one and really liked it, but it was so big I could not finish it. The place is clean with a minimalistic style, and the service was friendly and helpful.

Came here on a Wednesday night for dinner with some friends. It's a casual spot where you order at the register and they bring the food to you at the table. I ordered the lemongrass grilled pork vermicelli bowl, which comes with fish sauce and large egg roll. The portion size is huge and the price is reasonable. Service is quick and the food is pretty good. Wish grilled pork was a little hotter but if you're craving Vietnamese food in the area, this is a solid choice.

the pandan salted cream is so delicious! I couldn't tell if the base coffee was espresso or vietnamese coffee but if it were the former, it was quite acidic the cafe is pretty small but feels nice to work from. they also serve plenty of food

I was literally walking down the street, fantasizing about an egg cream coffee and stumbled upon Angiday. So glad I did. This is the only item I ordered and it was absolutely what I expected. I saw tons of other people ordering food that looked mouth-watering, but I was just in a beverage run. I'll definitely be back for a meal next time!

Wanted to grab something to go, I walked in here asking what he recommends. He said chicken and I ordered lemongrass beef Bahn Mi. (Didn't feel like having chicken.) While waiting, I enjoyed taking a photo of the nice clean well lit interior, completely unassuming on the outside. A long sandwich with julienned carrots, lettuce and chunks of beef has a nice crunch but is a tad too sweet for me. Loved the carrots! It's big, can't finish but almost. Nice place to chill while checking out Haight Street.

I was shopping around Haight Ashbury and wanted a quick, tasty meal, and decided on getting a banh mi here. I ordered the chicken banh mi, and it was actually amazing. Every ingredient tasted so fresh, the bread was perfect, the proportions were appropriate, and the sandwich itself was huge. The restaurant is also sooo pretty inside, and the service was great. This place is up there with some of my top banh mi spots.

Was feeling super hungry after a hard hot yoga session and came here for some eats after. I got the lemongrass beef banh mi and peach orange lemongrass tea. We also got some "tropical rolls" with nem nuong to share. The tea was a bit too sweet and tasted syrupy. Not bad, but I would've preferred more of the natural fruit flavour and sweetness. Next time, I'd probably opt for one of their coffee drinks instead. The topical nem nuong rolls had too much filler with only a thin sliver of meat in each roll. I was confused at first why they were called tropical rolls here, as I'd never seen them listed as such at other restaurants, but I guessed it must be because they contained mango. A very interesting combination. I didn't realize the lemongrass beef banh mi here was made with beef meatball until after I ordered it. It was delicious even though it was not quite what I expected. The baguette was the best part, as it was well toasted but preserved a soft, warm interior. Overall, this was a very solid place to grab lunch and I would come again.

H Ni Og Egg Cream Coffee and Pandan Salted Cream Coffee

Was craving Asian flavored coffee and I happened to stumble upon this spot through DoorDash. It's rare to find pandan flavored coffee in SF and I'm glad now I don't have to drive to SJ. Pandan salted cream coffee was stupendous! The only thing I would've like would have been more of a pandan flavored coffee and more of the cream itself since the coffee was strong and overpowered the pandan cream flavor once evenly matured into the coffee. Egg coffee was flavorful and was creamy and perfect! I am excited to try their other drinks and if their food is as good as their coffee, I will be continuously coming back.

    BBQ Chicken Banh Mi

The grilled/ bbq chicken bahn mi was SO good! I loved the perfectly fresh and crunchy veggies and the meat was perfect. The flavor was good especially the smokey charred flavor on the meat. Nice traditional crusty baguette. I believe it was $16 for the whole thing and it's double the size of the regular smaller bahn mis that I'm used to for half the price. They also sell coffees and teas. I had such a hard time deciding what to get as it all sounded so good. The workers were so friendly and helpful in ordering. The inside was very clean and modernly decorated. This place was a 10/10

As I was strolling on Haight, I noticed how popular this corner spot was but didn't have a clue what they served until one afternoon when it was empty. I decided to step in when I realized it was a modest Vietnamese cafe that served a menu of familiar favorites. Presuming there was no table service, I went to the counter to make my order. I have to say I felt a bit of an Arctic chill in her manner. Maybe she was reacting to my sour resting face. Who knows? I ordered the $12 Grilled Pork Banh Mi, quite a corpulent sandwich with the French roll nicely hollowed out for the generous portion of grilled honey lemongrass pork. Liver pate and egg butter were slathered liberally inside. Of course, there were the sliced jalapeños, shredded carrots, and daikon pickles stuffed inside. I jettisoned the cilantro because well... (Photo 8). It was pretty tasty with a girthy mouthful in every bite. I likely ate it too fast because I was ready to order another one as a chaser. Common sense ruled out for a change. Maybe next time. FOOD - 4 stars...a solid sandwich with creative touches AMBIANCE - 4 stars...spacious...when it's empty SERVICE - 2.5 stars...didn't feel the warmth here TOTAL - 4 stars...I'll let the sandwich speak for itself RELATED - Exploring the Haight? Found Vietnamese egg coffee at Angiday, which is hard to come by in the city! I want to try all their drinks, they look sooo yummy! The interior is beautiful and renovated, and it's an order and sit yourself method. I tried the vermicelli bowl with pork, and the imperial roll was the best part. The bowl itself was a bit lacking in flavor.

    Crispy Egg Rolls
    Beilin L.

Service was pretty quick and straightforward as the tail end of the evening wasn't too busy. The place is pretty spacious with a decent casual atmosphere. I liked the crispy egg rolls, but the presentation was a little disorganized as the egg rolls were grouped with the sauce for my friend's roll and accompaniments for the beef noodle soup. The beef noodle soup was a good portion and nicely priced, but a little too oily and the beef was tougher than I'm used to.

I highly recommend trying this dish if you haven't done so! 3/5 - Pho with chicken. The chicken was lackluster in this dish, mainly due to its dryness. The broth alone still tasted very good in terms of savoryness and seasoning. My boyfriend got the Charbroiled beef with garlic noodles and imperial rolls (#24) with an extra order of beef. Our meal was super filling and balanced! They don't skimp out on either the noodles or the protein (definitely could have done without the extra beef we ordered). The chicken was juicy but the skin stayed crispy. The charbroiled beef had the smallest hint of sweetness for me. The noodles had a nice chew to them, and were dry but in the best way possible. A lot of garlic noodles tend to be too oily and leave an unpleasant lingering mouthfeel, but that wasn't the case here. The noodles could have used more garlic for my preference, but I think it was well balanced with the flavorful protein and fish sauce. The imperial rolls were okay and a nice crunchy side. I wouldn't get them as a separate appetizer, but only $1 more to add to your dish is unbeatable. Overall a great experience and I'd definitely bring some friends here for a comforting meal.

I've given this place multiple chances over the years, but unfortunately each experience has been uncomfortable in one way or another. The first time was around 2022. My family and I arrived about 30 minutes before closing, and the owner told us he would still serve us. After seating us, though, he immediately pressured us to order quickly and told us we had to eat fast because they were closing. I was with my elderly relatives too so just turn us away? If that was the case, it would've been better to simply not seat us. Don't be greedy just bc you want a few bucks. Another time, my husband called to order Hanoi-style pho to go, and the owner responded with unnecessary attitude, saying that's the only kind they serve. LOL, ok. The interaction felt rude for no reason. Most recently, we came on Mother's Day. The dishwasher/staff member was also unfriendly. The bun cha was decent according to my mom, and my husband said the beef stew noodle dish was okay, but my pho lacked flavor entirely. I wasn't expecting it to compare to pho in Vietnam or even San Jose, but it tasted very bland so I didn't finish it. The service from the owner continues to be the biggest issue. When we paid, he stood over us while I counted cash, so I felt pressure to count fast and add tip quickly. He left then came back a few seconds later then quickly grabbed the money without even asking whether I needed change and disappeared faster than the wind. The whole interaction felt awkward and pushy. He has a very strange personality. After several experiences like this, we won't be returning.
