Review: Banh Mi Crunch (San Francisco) Rating: If you're looking for a spot that nails both the food and the vibes, Banh Mi Crunch is a must-visit. It's a cozy, smaller space, but they've managed to create an atmosphere that feels incredibly welcoming--perfect for a calm, chill lunch in the city. The Food Everything arrived steaming hot and noticeably fresh. Here's the breakdown of the spread: BBQ Chicken Banh Mi: The star of the show. The bread had that perfect "crunch" the name promises, and the chicken was flavorful and well-marinated. Garlic Noodles: Savory, buttery, and exactly what you want from a comfort side. Fried Eggroll: Super crispy and served at the perfect temperature. Thai Iced Tea: The ideal sweet finish to balance out the savory spices of the meal. Service & Atmosphere The staff here are genuinely friendly and provide great customer service, which makes the small space feel even more inviting. It's the kind of place where you can just decompress and enjoy a high-quality meal without any fuss. Bottom line: Fresh food, friendly faces, and a relaxed vibe. I'll definitely be back!

Favorite banh mi in the city so far. I've probably tried about 10-15 places or so. The restaurant is family owned and operated. I think the owner and his parents are often the ones you'll see at the register or behind the counter.

The sandwiches were amazing! Full of flavor. The iced coffee was also so good. It's a bit small inside, but there was some high top counter space. However, we took it to go and ate in the park. I'd definitely go again!

Crunch combo with must try Thai iced tea

I ordered the Crunch combo and a Thai iced tea to share since I wasn't too hungry. The crunch combo is delicious and all the meat inside is packed with flavor. The carrots are well seasoned too and it's superb. It reminds me of another Banh Mi place I had a while back in San Jose minus a fried egg. The Thai tea was also the best I've ever had. It was so good we got a second one. They don't use the powdered stuff and you can really taste it! I'll be thinking about that Thai Iced tea for a while. FYI: Space is small! Count on taking your sandwich at a nice place nearby to eat it

Came back again months later and it's still amazing. Fresh ingredients, great prices, and consistently good food. Rare to find places this solid in SF.

Looking for light lunch on Irving and found Banh Mi Crunch. Their menu impressed me for a Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwich shop. So many choices and options. Fresh crispy bread makes a perfect Bang Mi. There can be a line but it moves fast. They take your order and you get a number. Come back in 10-15 minutes. Small store with minimal counter seating inside so we took it to go. We ordered the Crunch combo and shrimp spring roll. The sandwich was very tasty and a nice combination of meat and veggies. Wish there was more pate. But it was still excellent. Bread supremely crispy and soft so good. Spring roll comes 2 to an order. Not bad. Lots of noodles and veggies with just enough shrimp. Delish peanut dipping sauce!! You gotta try

There's really nothing similar between Banh Mi Crunch and Castro Tarts but they reminded me of one another in the way they checked the boxes: Really good food - Check Well-priced - Check Small neighborhood business that I feel good about supporting - Check I can't speak for their namesake Banh Mi because I always get derailed when I see a Vermicelli Salad Bowl on the menu. This time I opted for the "Beef & Eggroll" combo ($15.95) and was rewarded with a freshly prepared bowl of deliciousness which even I couldn't finish completely in one sitting. Here's a secret: Don't finish it in one sitting. Hours later I opened and dug into my box of leftovers which had now had time to marinate in the sauce that comes as an accompaniment. Wow. The meal was good at the first sitting and now the flavors were downright delectable. So if you go for the Vermicelli Bowl, save some for later. But go. For all of the boxes they check and a delightfully big menu containing many worth-your-time Vermicelli Salad bowls.

Delicious banh mi spot that does their meats well! Called in my order for pickup, at around 3:30pm on a weekend they were sold out! - Grilled pork banh mi (5/5) : the meat flavor was on point and a decent ratio as well. The pork was not too fatty which most places are. Bread was nice and had all the necessities (pickled carrots, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeño)

Had this bookmarked for two years and finally checked it out. Amazing delicious banh mi! The place was packed when I ordered a lemon grass beef banh mi and a Thai tea. Tea was standard but goes well with my sandwich. Sandwich was brimming with beef! Love it. Generous with meat and tastes delicious. Bread was crispy and perfectly toasted and not soggy. Would visit again. Also, friendly cashier!

We walked two miles from the Richmond District specifically to try BMC. It was worth the 2 mile walk through the Golden Gate Park. It's a nice menu. There are choices for every one. We chose to have the combination and chicken banh mi sandwiches and the first bite was CRUNCH! The sandwich was tasty, but I could have used another slice or two of jalapenos. The daikon added good flavor. Yum! The owner is very friendly and welcoming. The vibe is positive. We will definitely walk 2 miles again. The problem is ... walking back home.

A solid bahn mi spot in SF! It's located in a busy area, it took 15-20 min to find parking around 2:30pm on a Saturday. I'd recommend coming early to find parking, otherwise there's more spots after 3pm. It's a pretty small space, with enough seats! I came with my parents and luckily, we beat the crowd before it hit 3pm. It was a 10 min wait and once a line formed, it became a 15 min wait. Lemongrass Beef Sandwich: Delicious! The bread is nice and crispy, and the beef is well seasoned. I do wish there would've more carrots and sauce, but it was great regardless! I'd buy it again. Thai Iced Tea: Love it! Not too creamy or thick, nor was it too sweet. Pork Belly Sandwich: I took a bite from my dad's and it was good! I just prefer the lemongrass beef one. My dad loved it, though! Also a great pick me up if you're looking for a grab and go!

cute little shop serving banh mi, plates, apps, and drinks! the workers were all very kind and kept the line moving efficiently. i tried the grilled pork banh mi. the bread was so light, airy, and crispy and the amount of veggies and meat was super generous. i also liked that the sandwich wasn't too oily or heavy. however, the pork was a bit too dry. it was still very flavorful, but i think there's better grilled pork banh mi. i would really like to try their other fillings, as it seems like the combo is a favorite among other reviewers and i thought every other element of the sandwich was done perfectly.

    Fresh salad roll with shrimp

Called in my order for the crunch combo banh mi and fresh salad roll with shrimp and it was ready right when I got there (~15 mins later). So glad I did because there was a steady stream of people that arrived after me even though it was around 2p on a weekday. Both the rolls and the banh mi were delicious...so much so that I finished it all in one sitting! Mainly a takeout place though there were a few seats inside. I definitely will come back next time I'm in the area and craving a banh mi. Also, highly recommend calling in your order if possible.

Overcooked and bit tough, and chewy would not get them again. Ask for extra napkins up front since you do end up eating with your hands most of it.

My boyfriend got the Charbroiled beef with garlic noodles and imperial rolls (#24) with an extra order of beef. Our meal was super filling and balanced! They don't skimp out on either the noodles or the protein (definitely could have done without the extra beef we ordered). The chicken was juicy but the skin stayed crispy. The charbroiled beef had the smallest hint of sweetness for me. The noodles had a nice chew to them, and were dry but in the best way possible. A lot of garlic noodles tend to be too oily and leave an unpleasant lingering mouthfeel, but that wasn't the case here. The noodles could have used more garlic for my preference, but I think it was well balanced with the flavorful protein and fish sauce. The imperial rolls were okay and a nice crunchy side. I wouldn't get them as a separate appetizer, but only $1 more to add to your dish is unbeatable. Overall a great experience and I'd definitely bring some friends here for a comforting meal.

This older man walks around very ambitious with his little credit card terminal ready to charge anyone who is anyone. He gives no receipt. He is the owner and the waiter. But he does not give any service and just expects tip. All he does is walk around and collect money & does the very minimum. I've given this place multiple chances over the years, but unfortunately each experience has been uncomfortable in one way or another. The first time was around 2022. My family and I arrived about 30 minutes before closing, and the owner told us he would still serve us. After seating us, though, he immediately pressured us to order quickly and told us we had to eat fast because they were closing. I was with my elderly relatives too so just turn us away? If that was the case, it would've been better to simply not seat us. Don't be greedy just bc you want a few bucks. Another time, my husband called to order Hanoi-style pho to go, and the owner responded with unnecessary attitude, saying that's the only kind they serve. LOL, ok. The interaction felt rude for no reason. Most recently, we came on Mother's Day. The dishwasher/staff member was also unfriendly. The bun cha was decent according to my mom, and my husband said the beef stew noodle dish was okay, but my pho lacked flavor entirely. I wasn't expecting it to compare to pho in Vietnam or even San Jose, but it tasted very bland so I didn't finish it. The service from the owner continues to be the biggest issue. When we paid, he stood over us while I counted cash, so I felt pressure to count fast and add tip quickly. He left then came back a few seconds later then quickly grabbed the money without even asking whether I needed change and disappeared faster than the wind. The whole interaction felt awkward and pushy. He has a very strange personality. He's honestly very sleazy and has bad energy After several experiences like this, we won't be returning.
